Hey guys! I'm really sorry I haven't been updating in literally forever, honestly I forgot about this site when exams and thing kicked in. But I felt the urge to write the other day and here I am. This chapter's still a bit dodge and I'm not sure how many of you will read it now but I hope you still like it! Really sorry if it sucks, need to get back into the swing of writing!
I don't own and recognisable characters/places etc.
Hope you like it!
Chapter 5: Man on Moon
Ellie's POV
Sitting at my desk, I stared at my computer, debating whether or not it was even worth searching for. How am I even sure anything will come up? I'm being ridiculous. I told myself.
"You know, whatever you're looking for, won't be on the interweb." A voice thick with a Russian accent said behind me, startling me.
"OMG!" I jumped, spinning round in my chair, "oh… my… GOD." I said breathlessly, not believing what I was seeing. In front of me, in a big red coat with a long grey beard, and a small kind of creature on his shoulder, was Santa Claus. "Are you really…?"
"Ahahaha!" he laughed, throwing his head back and resting his hands on his big stomach – you know, as Santa does. "Of course I am! What, you thought Jack Frost was real and I wasn't? Come on, you are joking!" He roared again, almost collapsing onto my bed with a thump. Thank God nobody could see him.
I just stared at him in awe, not believing what I was seeing. "And you have a Russian accent…" my eyes flickered to the shiny objects by his waist, "and you carry swords? I blurted out.
"Ah" he patted one of them, "you never know when you'll need to protect the children."
"Right…" I muttered, now watching the small elvish creature, I decided, jump off Santa's shoulder and scurry around, its small hat jingling. "Hey, don't touch that" I called out to it as the elf attempted to knock over everything in sight. I walked over to it and picked it up, staring at the elf.
"Ah apologies about him, he wanted to meet you!"
"Meet me? Why?" I asked, looking at Santa.
"Why? Because you're a Guardian!" he laughed again, standing up and walking over to me. I looked at the elf, which just nodded with a grin on his face.
"Um, look" I said, deciding to overlook the guardian thing, "as much as I appreciate the visit, really I do." I gave the elf back to Santa and walked past him, "but you kinda interrupted me. So if you don't mind…" I trailed off, sitting at my desk again and turning towards my computer.
"Like I said," he said gently, spinning my chair round for me to face him, "what you're looking for won't be in there" Santa finished, pointing to the screen. Sighing, I looked back at the screen and then at Claus.
"So where am I supposed to find it then? Nobody's given me much help! Not Tooth, Bunny, you… not even Jack." I muttered, trailing of and looking down at my hands.
"Aha! That's why I'm here!" he said in his stereotypical jolly way. "Do you know what your centre is?"
"My what?"
"Your centre! What makes you, you! What will you offer to the children to protect them!" he continued, I just looked at him confused.
"I'm not following…"
"Mine is wonder, Bunny's is hope, Jack's is fun… what's yours?" he asked, turning serious, pointing a large finger at me.
"I-I don't know." I whispered, "I don't even know what's happening to me!" I exclaimed, holding my brown and white-blonde locks of hair up to show him.
"Sandy was right, this isn't gonna be like Jack's experience" I heard him mumble.
"Sandy? Who's Sandy?"
"That's not important right now…" he said, looking around, thinking. He clicked his fingers; "I got it! Stand up" he said, grinning and folding his arms. I just raised my eyebrows at him, "Come on, up, up!" he said, grabbing my arm gently and pulling me up. "Now go to the window." He said with a little nudge, "and tell me what you see."
Confused, I made my way to my balcony doors, "OK, umm… I see- night, darkness?" I shrugged, looking back to him confused.
"No. Look again, look up." He whispered, walking so he was standing behind me. I looked up but couldn't see anything, so I opened the doors and walked out onto the small balcony, looking up at the sky. "What do you see?" He asked again.
"I see the night sky, the stars and the moon." I said, gazing up at the large sphere of white in the sky, caught in it's light as if I couldn't look away.
"Yes! Exactly! Man on Moon shall help you!" He roared, I looked at him astonished.
"Man on the moon?"
"Yes! Man on Moon! He chose us all; Me, Frost, Bunny, Tooth and Sandy!" he laughed, "and now you" he placed his hand on my shoulder, "if anyone can help you, it'll be him."
"But-but he's on the moon! How is he meant to talk to me from all the way up there?"
"When he talks to you, you'll know." He patted my shoulder as I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. I turned to look at him, focusing on his tattoos of the Naughty and Nice list on his arms before noticing the small orb he held in his hand.
"What's that?"
"This is my way back to the Pole." He held up the orb to show me.
"Wait, you're leaving? But the man on the Moon hasn't talked to me yet!"
"He'll speak to you when you're alone. I wouldn't worry, sometimes he takes a while, took him 400years to talk to Jack." He chuckled. "Here, take this. It might help." He said, throwing an orb to me before chucking his own into the air.
"Hey wait!" I called, stopping him from jumping into the portal. "Have you seen Jack? He sort of flew off earlier in a rush." I explained.
"Ah, don't worry too much, he always disappears and he's always fine." He laughed again.
"Right… and thanks, Santa" I said, holding up the orb.
"Don't worry about it! And by the way… call me North." He winked before giving me a salute and jumping through the portal.
I watched it close before turning and walking to the white wall on my balcony, leaning on it and looking up at the Moon. Come on. I urged. Talk to me, please. I begged. I stood there for 5 minutes, before sighing and running my fingers through my hair. "Why won't you talk to me!? Help me!" I cried out, desperate. This is ridiculous. I thought, I'm talking to the moon. With one last look I shook my head and turned away, heading towards my room.
Then something strange started to happen. The wind picked up, blowing and wrapping my hair around my face, almost as if it was urging me to turn around. I had to take a couple of steps back from the force of it. I turned around and looked up, my eyes widening. From what I could see, the moon had doubled in size and it was like… like it was calling me in.
Then I knew.
The Man on the Moon had spoken to me.
He told me what I was supposed to do, where I was supposed to go.
To a place that'll help me understand.
Arendelle.
What the hell is Arendelle?
Jack's POV
"Is there a reason you brought me here Jack?" Jamie asked, yawning as I woke him up from his sleep.
"I just don't understand" I muttered, sitting on a rock, looking out across Arendelle.
"Understand what?" he asked, joining me on the rock.
"How it's possible for somebody to look so much like her. For that girl… Ellie, to have all the same powers as her. To have so many of the same characteristics as her but she's not her." I rambled on.
"Jack slow down, your barely making sense." Jamie laughed, patting my shoulder. "I know it must be rough, seeing this girl turn into Elsa but, there's got to be an explanation right? Maybe the children are going to be in danger again? Or Arendelle needs saving again-"
"No, if Arendelle needed saving I would save it, I swore to her I'd protect her kingdom." I stood up, looking over the Castle and the town that was ever growing.
"Well, all I'm saying is maybe the Moon thinks you'll need help?" I glared at him, "hey, I'm just spit-balling here." He held up his hands in defence.
"Sorry Jamie thanks. She just looks so much like her you know?"
"Yeah, I know… well I don't coz I haven't seen her but yeah, I guess." I chuckled at the 13year old boy in front of me. 4 years had passed since I got Jamie to believe in me and we were still friends, how time flies. "Look Jack, as much as I'd like to stay and talk about your girl problems" I rolled my eyes, "I need to head back, I've got school tomorrow."
"Right yeah, sorry buddy. Let's go." I said, pulling one of North's orbs out of my hoodie, I stole a stock of them to help get Jamie around. "Jamie's room" I said to the orb and threw it, a portal opening up showing Jamie's bedroom. "There you go bud."
"You not coming with?" he raised a brow as he stood up.
"Nah, there's some stuff I need to do." I said, fiddling with my staff.
"Alright, see you Jack" he waved before jumping into the portal.
"See you Jamie."
Sighing, I looked over Arendelle again, letting all the memories of the time I spent here 200years ago flood back to me. I was happiest here. I found the first person that believed in me here. But now she's gone and something weird is happening.
And it's killing me.
I looked up to the Man on Moon, talk to me I silently begged him, help me understand what's going on. But nothing, I got no response. As usual.
Ok so there's the chapter! I know it's a bit rough (and probably a lot crappy) but at least I posted something again right? Tell me what you thought please, good or bad! X
