Really sorry for the long update. It's just that I wasn't feeling well this week. I didn't want to write while I was feeling not well because I was afraid it might ruin the story so I had to wait until I feel a lot better. I'm feeling better right now so I just wrote this right now. Please enjoy!
Before Amy could even sit down and rest, another tiger came rushing towards her. She easily dodged the attack. She saw that this time they were smarter and brought some friends. She named them One, Two and Three.
Even with her new-found strength, she knew she couldn't possibly take four tigers. She needs to get out of here. But if she wants to survive for the day, staying by the river is the best solution. But if she wants to survive now, she's got to get back into the forest and trick them somehow. After that, she can find her way through the forest again to find the river but that would take up time. She's only got a day and she got a feeling she already wasted an hour.
Without warning, the tigers attacked at the same time. One charged towards her. She sidestepped but Two was already about to raise its claws. She quickly kicked Two on its snout and then flipped backwards as One recovered and charged again. One and Two kept coming while Amy kept a defensive tactic, not noticing Three managed to get behind her and slash her back.
She screamed in pain and got down on one knee. The pain was agonizing and she couldn't fight back. She tried to release some punches but they were of no big strength. She managed to drop on the ground as Two pounced on her, missing her by an inch. Three also made its move, taking Amy's position as an advantage. Without thinking, she rolled on her back. She screamed as the pain grew. It was unbearable.
But she needed to fight. She couldn't die here. An image of a grinning Dan flashed in her mind. If she died, who would take care of Dan the idiot? Pushing herself to her limits, she forced herself to stand. She stood on wobbly legs. Her vision started to blur. She saw traces of blood everywhere. She started to feel dizzy. Vertigo swept over her. No! I need to fight! I can't die h- She noticed one of the tigers were charging straight towards her but it was too late. Before she could even move a muscle, the tiger gave her a headbutt and she flew straight toward the waterfall as the gash on her back throbbed.
She winced in pain as the pressure of the falling water hit her back. Because she went past the water and was expecting a stone wall meeting her back. She braced herself for the unbearable pain that was supposed to happen. Instead of pain, she felt nothing. She continued to move backwards with the big force of the headbutt. She realized she was in the cave inside the waterfall. She saw the entrance going farther and farther. Then she realized she was moving not because of the force of the blow but because of the pull of gravity.
She continued to fall down in darkness. It seemed endless as her mind was shifting back and forth between panic mode and the pain the gash on her back was emitting. She started to feel light headed until she thought of nothing at all. Finally she landed at the bottom of the cave, unconscious. With just a small amount of energy left, her systems started to do its work. Stitching tissues. Repairing muscles. Manufacturing blood. It's going to take a while. She might be able to wake up until tomorrow but she doesn't have time left. Suddenly, her body started to glow. Seconds passed until she was bathed in yellow light.
It took no more than a minute before the yellow light faded. She slowly opened her eyes. She found herself in a somewhat dark dungeon. She immediately recognized the dungeon-like corridor. She knew it was the same one they had entered that night. As if she forgot what happened to her during the fight, she continued to walk on. She knew her body was probably full of scratches and bruises but she needs to move forward.
Under the low light the torches were giving, she saw the illusion of scratches and wounds. Before her body was full of scratches and damages but Amy's body was no longer battered. It was fully healed. A large scar remained on her back. But only scars remain. There was no wound. No scratches. Her body was alright. It was perfectly fine.
Hamilton sighed as he heard the footsteps of the robot fade.
For hours, he's been running from something that seemed unbeatable. He tried tricking it. He tried to outrun it. But it always seems to catch up to him. So at the end he just ran. After rows and rows of corridors, he finally found some hope. Somehow a door suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Not caring about what's on the other side, he quickly entered the room before the robot rounded up the was in a dark room. His hands found the wall and he started to feel the wall, trying to find the switch for the lights. He finally found it after a few seconds.
Click!
He couldn't help but smile at what he saw. His smile grew to a grin as he took a step forward. In the room were about thirty different kinds of weapons. Jackpot! This is so awesome! The walls were lines with different kinds of weapons and guns like those that you see in movies. He reached out to pick up a sword on the floor but...
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Uh-oh. Bad timing. He's got no time. The robot will be here any second. He felt his heart race in his chest. Quickly, he shook the panic off. He needed to relax and concentrate. He quickly got what he needed. He grabbed the AK-47 because he's got experience with that. He also took an axe and dagger just in case. He noticed a small pack for first aid and grabbed it too. He wished he can get some more because he's sure this is just the beginning.
He's got the axe tied to his back and the rifle in his hand. He placed the dagger in his pocket and placed the first aid bag on his belt. He's pretty sure he looks like the guys in movies. He heard the robot coming nearer and nearer. He's not going to wait. He couldn't fight it with brute strength. He needed to outwit it so why not stick to having the first move? With one last breath, he opened the door.
He immediately fired at the robot while running the other way. He ran while firing continuously at the robot. He ran straight, avoiding corners and turns. If he turned he knew he would be slower. He kept on running until he realized...he's out of ammo. He cursed under his breath. "Damn it!" He swore as he threw the gun away. He looked back and saw the robot. It had scratches all over. A few bullets managed to hit the head so a part of it was making sparks but it was catching up. Hamilton was tired. He needs to stop. He's been running for hours. His legs were numb and it feels like jelly. But he couldn't stop and he won't. He must make it out alive. Reagan needed him. They knew their parents didn't approve of their relationship with the Madrigals. They may not tell them directly but they feel it every time their parents look at them, the way they act around them. Hamilton and Reagan could feel it.
And he just ran.
Shit! He came up to a dead end. He turned around. He can see the robot coming, feet away from him. He took the axe in his hands. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He can do this. He knows the robot is already weakened by the bullets. He can do this.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
It's just a several feet away. The pain suddenly weighed down on him but he received it with open arms and threw it away. He's going to have to get past his limits. He suddenly had a gut feeling to run straight towards it. It's insane, he knows, but he did. Raising the ax over his head, he ran towards it at full speed. He jumped when the robot was within a few feet and brought the ax down to its arm. He stepped back with the ax in his hand. He managed to slash its arm but not enough to cut it off. The robot raised its ax as well and brought it down to him but he dodged it easily. He quickly slammed the ax at its elbow. It suddenly sparked a small explosion happened in front of him.
Hamilton knew he hit a wire. The arm became useless with the connection broken. The robot used its other damaged arm to pick up the ax and attacked Hamilton again. He managed to sidestep at the last second and brought his down the hit he made a while ago. This time, he was able to make hit the wire again. He smirked but he knew he can't celebrate yet. With the arm less robot, Hamilton made one last hit to its chest.
The robot shook as electricity danced across its body. Electricity traveled through its body and using the ax as a bridge, it managed to reach Hamilton before he could even let go. His body shook and fell to the ground. Then he blacked out.
Dan watched as the elevator doors closed. He heard the hisses fade away. When it finally closed, he sighed in relief and slipped down on the wall. He sat down as the elevator moved up. He finally lost the snakes. The elevator came to a halt. Dan was disappointed there was no Ding! while the elevator doors opened. The dungeon walls were not there anymore. Instead, he was faced with a corridor with white walls...again.
He frowned. He was really sick of the color white after being in a room that's only white. He just sat for a few minutes. He was tired from all the running. So just rested until he noticed there was a shadow around the corner at the far end of the corridor. He finally stood up and slowly walked towards it. Looking everywhere, making sure there was no traps. As he was nearing the corner, he realized it was human. He picked up a faster pace until he finally got to the corner.
"Hamilton!" he shouted as he knelt beside his unconscious buddy.
All he knew that his buddy was unconscious and possibly... He quickly erased that thought from his head. Dan saw burns all over his body. He panicked. Where did these come from? When he realized there was a big robot lying beside Hamilton. Woah! Hamilton beat that? Cool! Then he suddenly became all serious again. He closed his eyes. Electrocution. Electrocution. He repeated in his head as he sought for the right image in his mind. There! He stopped all the other pictures from coming and threw it down into his mind again. He made the image larger.
Chapter 37 - ELECTROCUTION
Dan never really thought this stuff was going to be handy. Fine. Fiske was right about this stuff being important and all. Dan finally realized it was a good thing Fiske asked him to read that book. Though it was an ultra long read, at least he can save his friend. That was what's important. He tried to find a pulse. His heart feel when he felt none. He suddenly felt his eyes stung a little. With each beat, his heart grew heavy. No! He must not lose hope. He's still got one thing left to do.
When he realized, he's going to have to kiss Hamilton. Well, it's just CPR but it's still something like a kiss. His face crinkled in disgust. Trying not to think about it too much, he blew air into Hamilton's mouth and placed his hands over his chest. He pushed and repeated this sequence over again. He was starting to lose hope after a few more times of doing the sequence until he felt a pulse. A single pulse. His heart raced while he continued to do CPR with new hope.
Hamilton suddenly sat up. Dan grinned. He punched Hamilton on the shoulder.
"You, dude, scared the hell out of me!" he said.
A bit dazed, Hamilton blinked a few times. "What?"
"You were out cold when I found you." Dan said.
"Oh...yeah." Hamilton replied as he remembered what happened.
"And the robot, dude! That must have been awesome!"
"Of course!" Hamilton smiled proudly. "But we need to go. There might still be some left." Motioning to the robot.
Dan laughed. This is Hamilton. His friend. His best buddy. He helped Hamilton stand. At least, he was not alone anymore. At least, they've got each other. That thought made Dan think again as they walked together surrounded by white walls.
Slam!
"No!"
Jake finally stopped talking. Fiske never wanted things to go this way but if they're not stopping, then he's got no choice at all. He gave Jake time to speak but he's had enough. He already tried being reasonable with Jake but if he won't listen then he's going to have to be hard. This can't go on for long.
"I told you, no!" He felt his blood pumping hard into his veins. He breathed slowly, calming his nerves. He continued. "I won't risk you going in there. I would never do that I-"
Jake intercepted. "Well, you made them go in there! Now they're trapped there and all you want to do is sit here and wait!?"
"I know it's my fault. It's all my fault. I gave you this mission and it's my fault that they were captured. I made a mistake in bringing you here."
Jake was about to open his mouth when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned and found Sinead shaking her head, telling him to stop. He lowered his head in disapproval. He just bit his lip and endured the uncomfortable silence that was stretching in the room. After a few minutes, Fiske finally broke the silence.
"Start unpacking. I'll go buy some food." With that he went out of the room. When Jake heard the door close, he slammed the table. He let out a sigh that he never knew he'd been holding.
"Damn it!" he muttered under his breath.
Atticus and Jonah were outside, unpacking their things. It's been almost a week since Hamilton, Dan and Amy went missing. But not Ian. He was merely going back home. They didn't expect the Kabras to be behind this especially Isabel Kabra who, they swore, burned in front of their eyes. Ian may have helped them back then but knowing that it was him who told them about the Vesper base, Jake knew he was not just kidnapped.
They've just moved in a nearby safe house. Since the Vespers already knew they were here, there's no point in hiding anymore. So they moved into an abandoned safe house. And things were going a bit bumpy. Fiske insists they wait for further back up but it's been a week. Jake's afraid they might hve done something bad to them He's got this gut feeling that something bad is going on in there. He really wants to get them back since Amy's also inside. But Fiske is the boss. He tried all the things he can do to convince Fiske but Fiske just won't budge. It's really frustrating.
"Jake, I know you're frustrated. But it's really not the right time. Fiske is also worried about them but he's also got to consider our safety. That's why he doesn't want to do this." Sinead spoke up.
"I know. I know but they're in there. Maybe they're torturing them. Maybe they're making them pay. Maybe they're even..." Jake argued. "But all I know is that I don't want to stay right here. Sitting here all day while they're in there, fighting a fight."
"I'm really sorry. But I think Fiske is right." she said before they fell into silence.
After a few seconds, she spoke again. "Listen. I know you're worried about Amy but believe me. She is strong. In fact, she's the strongest person I know. She went through life without her parents. She entered the clue hunt without any knowledge to what they're really going for. And the blood of the Cahills, the most powerful family in the world, runs in her veins."
Jake knew Sinead was right. Maybe he did have to have more faith in them. He raised his head and looked at Sinead. They just stared back at each other.
Sinead suddenly smirked. "Well? What are you sitting there for? Help unpack the things."
Jake smiled and stood up.
I wanted to thank for the advice. Please inform me for any mistakes if there are any because when you're at the bottom, the only way is up, right?
And one more request. I'm going to have to make you wait again because we have our exams next week so I need to study. :( So please bear with me.
