Oh, guys, you know my bad sense of time. I know it's really irritating. I hate myself for that but I do hope you still enjoy the story ^_^
Darkness.
That was where she was. She tried to recall what happened a few minutes ago. She visualized as she drifted in darkness. She remembered pushing the button then a sudden pang of pain shot across her body. Her body jerked uncontrollably. Before she even knew it she started to fall. A spark tickled her skin. Her vision started to tunnel. At the last second, she noticed a bright yellow light around the edges of her tunneling vision. Just as quickly as it came, it disappeared. Darkness stumbled in. That bright light was definitely not electric currents. Well, it didn't look like it...
Then she suddenly felt something cold on her face. Something liquid. She immediately opened her eyes, leaving the darkness behind. She was blinded by the sudden brightness. Her eyes were still adjusting when she hard her name.
"Amy!"
Her heart raced. She blinked harder, urging her eyes to adjust faster. She knew that voice even with her eyes closed. Of course, she would know. "Dan!"
"Hey!" said another familiar voice.
"Hamilton!" she shouted in joy. She tried to stand up but she can't. She tried once more but it just seemed as if she was chained. She felt the cuffs on her wrist and ankles. She tried to pull her hands out.
"Amy! Relax! Amy!" Hamilton shouted.
"Chill, sis." Dan agreed. He paused. "Amy!"
At the same time, electricity sparked its way through her body. She screamed in pain as her body shook against her will. Everything left her mind. All that remained was one word. Pain. She shrieked. She can hear the muffled voices of Hamilton and Dan in the middle of the zapping. Then it stopped. Her body limped, hanging on the wall like she was a puppet. For a second, it was like she became unconscious. Her eyes were forced close. The muffled voices were no more. Her systems crashed down one after another. Her heart started to give up as well. Her blood started to become still as an ocean. Her brain struggled to fight for the last breath but it was too late.
Silence.
She came back to the darkness once more. She was alone again. She tried to move. She tried to speak. She tried to do everything but her body remained motionless as she drifted into nothingness. She knew what happened just like earlier. She can remember. Is she dead? If she really was dead, then where is she?
Eerie silence.
Suddenly, she was not surrounded by darkness anymore. Light. She was engulfed in bright yellow light. What? She felt something tickle against her skin. She realized there were tiny particles glowing around her, not just some light. They landed on her skin. With each touch, they sent a yellow pulse through her body. One pulse after another, she started to feel the warmth spreading through her body. The hairs on the back of her neck raised.
Lub-dub. Lub-dub.
Just as fast, everything came back. Her brain started to send neurons again. Her heart pumped blood and it surged into her body. She felt it traveling through her veins. Her senses returned. She heard the shouts of Hamilton and the silent sobs of Dan. She could see the light escaping through her closed eyelids. Her heart was hammering inside her chest, pumping blood and adrenaline into her veins. She took a deep breath. She smelled tap water, sweat and the smell of something burnt. One more thing. Perfume.
"Amy!"
She opened her eyes.
"Dan!" Amy shouted.
Dan was grinning like crazy now. Even though they were tied up like this in this big dome, it was really good to hear that Amy was finally awake after all that labyrinth thing. It was a good thing he found Hamilton and they tried to finish it together from that point onwards but what about Amy? They had no idea what happened to her. The other thing was that she was alone. Alone in a gigantic labyrinth that's really dangerous and full of Vesperian traps. And here she was with them in the big dome they were in after the water took them the first time they came. She didn't even look that bad though there were some scratches on her arms and, most probably, all over her body too.
He chuckled as he turned his head to look at Hamilton who was smiling and chained next to him. Well, not really chained since they weren't exactly chains. They were some sort of cuffs that looked very futuristic and electric-y. He wasn't sure if they really conducted electricity but it looked like one of those that do in the movies. When she tried to pull her hands out of the cuffs, he immediately felt bad as if something was coming right after. He was right.
He saw electric sparks dancing on her skin, traveling further across her body. Her body jerked up and down. Dan winced as though he can feel her pain. He knows that what he's feeling now is nothing compared to the real pain Amy's feeling but seeing her like that in front of him is just... hard. It's painful for him. He saw her head thrown back. Her mouth opened for a loud scream. He looked away and closed his eyes to tear himself away from the scene.
He couldn't see but he could still feel her pain radiating like waves pulsing off her body. He could still hear her. Her screams echoed in her mind. The problem was with his eyes closed, his sense of hearing increased. His ears were pricking with her screams. He wanted to stop her screams. He wanted to cup his ears but he realized he couldn't.
He continued to hear her screams until it died down. Dan thought it was because he got used to it but after a few second the silence was too much. It was too loud for him. Then a thought struck his mind what if she's...she's... He shook her head. No! Until heard Hamilton's scream. "AMY! NO!" Without wasting a second, he opened his eyes and looked at her. His eyes widened in fear when he saw her motionless body. Smoke was rising off her body as the smell of something burnt filled the dome. What can he do? He's tied up. He's far from her.
Hamilton's tied up too. Beside him, Hamilton was trying to take the cuffs off, shouting and kicking his legs. Dan felt a tear rolled down his cheek. He breathed deeply. Tears flowed down endlessly. He sobbed. He couldn't bring himself to look at her cold body. It was too much for him. Just when he thought there couldn't be anything worse, he heard footsteps. He opened his eyes and saw their feet. He grimaced He didn't need to raise his head. Just by looking at their feet, he already knew who it was. The Kabras.
Hamilton's shouts grew louder and his words grew harsher. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER!? I WILL KILL YOU!" But they continued to walk past him. Then they reached him. Dan could smell her perfume. He could hear Hamilton but he couldn't understand what he was saying. His ears focused on their footsteps and his heavy breaths.
Clack! Clack! Clack!
Then they stopped. His heart beat fast. Her perfume was so strong like she was so close by. They continued to walk.
Clack! Clack! Clack!
They stopped again. Dan suspected they were looking at Amy's... He gulped. "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER! OR I'LL BREAK YOUR NECKS!" he heard Hamilton shouted with rage. He continued to shout at them. Telling them not to touch Amy. Telling them they would pay for this. Just when Dan thought he would never stop shouting, he stopped at the middle of one of his rants. Dan frowned. He waited for Hamilton to continue shouting again but he didn't. All he got was something like a whisper. "Dan..."
He couldn't bring himself to look at her body. He just couldn't. His eyes were still swollen. His cheeks were covered in dried tears. "Dan, look..." he heard Hamilton said in a soft voice like something unbelievable was happening. At the same time, he heard someone take a deep breath. He quickly raised his head to look with widened eyes. Unbelievable, indeed. Amy's body was glowing. Yellow light shrouded her like mist swarming around her. Her skin started to return to its natural color. He could see the scars on her arms started to heal. Her limbs twitched a little.
"Amy!"
Dan could see the shock on Isabel's face but she quickly hid it. She was not expecting this, then. No one was. Dan jumped a little when she suddenly looked at him. She looked perfectly fine but something was wrong. Her eyes. They were not the usual color of green. They were bright yellow then it reverted back to plain, old green. He didn't understand what happened back there but all he knew was she was alive and he couldn't help but smile. She smiled back.
Amy smiled. Honestly, she herself didn't know what happened. She's got this idea inside her head but it was too impossible. It was just a bit too impossible but it's possible. She chuckled. How silly that sounded.
She heard a venomous voice."Well, well, well. Congratulations! You passed the test!" said Isabel Kabra who was standing in front of her. Behind her, Amy could see the great Ian Kabra, looking at her with a passive face. Then she saw someone else. Someone she's never seen before. A man wearing a tailored suit with hair pulled back with gel. His face was handsome and very much looked like someone else she knew. That someone going by the name of Ian Kabra. Is that...
Sensing her confusion, Isabel rolled her eyes. "Oh, silly me. Let me first introduce you to my...guests." She walked behind Ian and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You know my son. Ian Kabra. Say hi, dear." Ian remained motionless and passive, hands inside his pockets. He earned a pat on the back from his mother. Her hands curled into fists at the mention of his name. Amy felt anger rising inside her again. She was a fool. He was an idiot. She was blind. He was annoyingly good.
Isabel continued to walk towards the other man. She placed a hand on his chest and straightened his tie like she was a sweet housewife. "And this man right here..." she said without leaving the man's eyes. "...Is the gorgeous and magnificent Vikram Kabra. My man. My lover. The father of my son and daughter. Vesper One."
The name echoed inside Amy's head. Vikram Kabra. She thought he was locked away somewhere. Actually, she thought he was already dead. She watched as Vikram and Isabel smiled at each other like a sweet ol' couple. He dipped his head and caught her lips into a kiss. It was really inappropriate for the moment. Amy guessed that maybe she missed him. She heard Isabel's moans escaping her mouth. She assumed the kiss involved a lot of tongue and...liquid. Her face grew hot at the thought and she quickly looked away. Her eyes caught something better to look at. Better than the kissing, of course.
Amber eyes. Ignorant of his parents, he was looking at her. Bright golden eyes staring at her. It was a bit disturbing with those bright eyes. She suddenly remembered the nightmares she had. Those drove her mad. They gave her restless nights and dark circles under her eyes. They brought her tears. That didn't matter though. Not anymore. Ian. That's what matters. He was the center of it after all. It disturbed her to the end. It wasn't a matter of her feelings towards him. That itself was a bit too complicated. It was a matter of trust. She thought he was back. She thought everything was finally getting better. They were more complete.
Then she noticed his eyes shifted back to its natural shade of amber. He flashed his signature smirk. Her heart almost fell out of her chest. He gave her a wink then his eyes became gold again. At the same time, she noticed his parents' make out session ended with a smack of wet lips. They were still in each others arms, staring at each other.
"My dear, you do the honors." Isabel said, turning her head to look at Amy straight in the eye.
Vikram Kabra did the same. Amy felt a shiver went down her spine with all three golden eyes looking at her. "Welcome to the family."
