We just finished our exams so this took a while. Not much dialogue on this chapter. Sorry about that. Please enjoy this chapter. Btw it's the last one...

Her yellow eyes, almost green now. Her surprised expression. The knife. A sly smile. Yellow eyes twinkling. A thud. It all happened under four seconds. Ian was left standing, startled by the turn of events in those few seconds. Then just as quick he snapped back to reality and pulled the trigger but his four-second delay gave Natalie the time to move. She was able to dodge the dart and pull her knife out of Amy's body at the same time. Without wasting another second, she lunged at him. Ian grabbed her wrist and twisted her arm behind her back. She replied with a blow on his chest from her elbow. He grunted in pain. A few broken bones wouldn't hurt he told himself. He managed to grab her other wrist locking both of her arms.

Natalie tried to escape but being a male, Ian has the advantage unless Natalie eases her wight on Ian making him fall. And he did. Cold water splashed on his back. This loosened his grip on Natalie and she was able to turn the tides of the battle. She was now straddling his lap. Before he could block, she sent a punch to his face. A cut opened on his cheek. He felt movement on his waist. He saw Natalie raised her hand and plunged the dart to his arm.

"AAAAHHHH!"

He knew what was coming but he didn't expect the pain would be this much. Then he felt heat going through his body. He doesn't know what's happening around him anymore. He almost didn't feel the pain because it was too much. Too much that he couldn't move a muscle. All means of taking his pain out was cut off and all he could do was take it in. He couldn't feel anything yet he felt everything. He felt his body grew weaker. Everything throbbed in pain. Each move sent shock waves of pain that surged into his head. It felt like his head would explode. It felt like his whole body would crumble down to ash. It felt like his bones would shatter any second now.

Then just as the pain slowly rose above his pain threshold it stopped. A sweep of vertigo hit him. He closed his eyes and inhaled as much air his expanded lungs could afford. The pain was gone but he could still feel it, slowly fading away. Though his head still throbbed in pain. He raised his head but it sent a sharp pain to his head. His vision became blurry and so did all of his other senses. He tried to focus his eyes at one point. It helped him a bit though he was still getting double vision. Blood was gushing to his ears. All he could hear was his heart beating frantically.

He started to feel sleepy. His body was telling him to rest. With all the physical stress and pressure, he understands his body but he can't. The water level is rising if they don't get out of here soon... Then he saw someone hovering above him. He couldn't see her face clearly but no doubt it was Natalie.

"Sorry, Ian." She spat his name out like it was venom. Just like that, everything became clear for a moment. He saw her face dark and so much like his mother... No...Isabel. And it scared him to death. He wouldn't want his sister to be someone like her. He wouldn't want anyone to become like her. "Gotta run." She winked at him and for the last time she brought down a punch on his face. Then darkness surrounded him.

He woke up to the coldness of the water surrounding him. Just as he realized he was underwater, he noticed something coming towards him. His eyes widened and he quickly swam up. He got his head out of the water just in time, before he both lost his breath and got hit by the debris. He couldn't see where he was because of the water and the darkness. But he suspected he's on his way out since he did program the doors so that the water would flow out to the river.

Suddenly he felt something hit his back. It sent him spinning down the water again. He felt the thing flow past him. He shook his head and swam up again. He's got to find something he can hold on to. A bunch of debris were flowing with the current but they were too small to hang on to until he saw something big and wide enough. A table. It was behind him and was coming his way fast. Now all he needs to do is to be able to grab it. And he did except with the kick of pain.

He screamed as he pulled himself to the table. He landed on his stomach with a groan. He could feel the table pressing on some of his broken ribs. He looked at his shirt and saw it was covered in blood. He must have gotten while he was still unconscious. He told himself everything would be alright since it would heal anyway then again he didn't have the nanogens this time. Not this time. He slammed his hands on the table. Now things were not going his way but it would do. He found himself just lying on his stomach. He doesn't feel much of the pain on his chest anymore but it's still there.

As he rested his head on the table, he felt sleep starting to dawn on him with the rocking of the table flowing with the current. He finally closed his eyes. All he felt was the rocking of the table. The sound of raging water was drowned by the beep of silence. For the first time since this morning, he felt relaxed. He sighed. He could feel it. Just a few more seconds and he would probably fall asleep.

Green eyes full of panic flashed in his mind. AMY! He immediately woke up. All thoughts of sleep gone from his head. He quickly looked around. Amy. Amy. Amy. He repeated her name inside his head like a mantra. As if she would magically appear if he called her name like that. All he could see was water, debris and floating things. Maybe she was stuck somewhere underwater. He considered jumping into the water immediately but decided to go against it. He looked around. She must be here somewhere. It's impossible that she was stuck because with a current this strong, almost nothing would be able to stand it.

Until he saw something. Something red...No, not red, but ginger. Without thinking, he jumped into the water and swam towards her body. He tried swimming against the current but it was too strong. He didn't stop though. He continued to paddle his arms in trying to break the current. He needs to get her. If it wasn't for her, he wouldn't have done this. He would have let them all die in their hands. In his hands.

"Amy!" he shouted. His arms were growing weak but he won't stop. He noticed her body was getting farther and farther. He won't stop, he told himself once more. Suddenly he though of something. He noticed a turn was coming up. It was completely absurd but it was all he had. He had to try. All he needed was the right timing. He looked for another thing to hang on to. When he did, he laid on his stomach again ignoring the pain on his chest. He could see the turn coming. He looked for her body again. There it was floating feet away from him.

The turn was coming. He took a deep breath. He can do this. He needed to for everyone. For her. For him. He could feel everything turning. He tightened his grip on the table he was hanging on to. Now for the vital part of his plan. He could see her body coming fast. For a second, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to grab her in time. No! He stretched his arm as far as it could go. His fingers brushed against her shirt but he wasn't able to catch her. His heart hammered in his chest. No... NO! Giving everything, he stretched his arm.

He finally managed to grab her shirt. He pulled her close, letting go of the table at the same time. He grunted as she slammed against his chest, hitting his bruises and cuts. He didn't mind though now that he got her. He noticed the blood stain on her shirt. He pulled her shirt up and saw a nasty gash on her belly. Luckily the nanogenes were able to heal her organs in time before they were fought off by her system. Though the muscles and skin were still torn. At least, he knew she could still be saved. Letting go of the table was a mistake. Now he's just going to have to trust the raging currents would take them to the exit without getting them killed. Just as he thought of that, he felt a powerful blow to his head. His head went to shut down. Before it did, he gripped her tighter, pulling her closer.

Whatever was going to happen to them he's going to leave it in fate's hands. All he knew he did his best to save everyone. To save her. Whatever was going to happen he was not letting go of her. He may be asleep but he knew even his body would scream not to let her go. He didn't know why he felt so sure but he just knew.

The next thing he heard was the sound of the choppers. People were shouting. He couldn't hear them but he heard something that told them they were safe.

"Are they going to be alright?"

"Yes."

"How about Amy?"

"Dan, she'll be fine. She went off first with the others. She'll be fine."

He did it. He saved them. He finally ended what he started. He's finally going home.
