SPOV
"Damn it white girl, why you gotta be bringing me into shit like this?! You know how much I hate finding dead bodies! I just know my stomach is gonna mess up, I can feel it churning now!" I hear Lula screech at me.
But I am too flabbergasted by the sight in front of me. Sitting dead as a door nail, in this silver Porsche no less; with a bullet hole between his eyes is a mafia-looking guy.
I have no clue who he is. He doesn't look familiar at all to me. I just have that funny feeling in the pit of my stomach. Partly because once again I am confronted with another dead body, and partly because I just saw my beloved Ric walk away from this house cloaked in darkness and mystery last night.
I know in my heart that he didn't do this. But the Police and everyone else would love to pin this homicide on him, too.
I finally turn to answer Lula. Sighing deeply I begin.
"Lula, you think I like finding dead bodies?! Just once I wish my life could be normal. Well normal without the bodies turning up all the time. The rest of the Burg normal can kiss my ass!"
"I hear ya. I don't blame you much either. I never cared what other folks thought about me either, given my previous occupation and all." She admits.
"I know and I don't care about it either, you're a good person Lula, that's what matters. Now what do we do about this?" I say as I point to the most recent deceased member of Trenton's "society". I use that term loosely and for lack of a better term.
"I don't know. Don't Stiva's have night drop off box or something?" Lula inquires.
"Geez." I just shake my head and roll my eyes.
I think on it for a bit. Then I let Lula know what I have decided to do.
"OK, here's the deal. We get the hell out of dodge and make an anonymous phone call to the TPD." I tell her.
"Sounds like a plan to me white girl. Let's get the hell outta here. I could use some Cluck-in-a-Bucket right now anyhow." She declares.
I guess her stomach is feeling better now that she's getting away from the dead body.
We quietly lock everything up as it was before and make quick tracks out of the vicinity. After we are safely away, I pull into a gas station and make the call to the TPD so they can do their thing.
With that taken care of, I take Lula over to Cluck-in-a-Bucket and sigh as she buys out the entire menu. My appetite is long gone.
I hope I get a chance to talk to Ric tonight. He has some explaining to do! #####
