a/n: Well I added this early because I am way to excited to hear your feedback, and I wrote this all last night and a bit after school. Haha! This is just after camp when they decide to leave. This part is quite crucial.

Chapter 1: Saying Goodbye

Mitchie's POV

Today was the last day of Camp Rock and that means tears and a lot of goodbyes. Currently I'm listening to Tess grovel for my forgiveness, of course, it's unnecessary because I already accepted her apology.

Suddenly she turns to Shane, who hasn't really left my side since Final Jam. I must admit, I don't mind and who would?

"It's okay Tess, don't worry about it. No hard feelings." Shane said and he stuck out his right hand; his left still held mine firmly, and shook Tess' hand professionally. This left Miss Tyler very dumbstruck. I just nodded in her direction and mumbled a quick goodbye before leaving. Just because I accepted her apology doesn't mean that I like her again.

"I thought she'd never stop!" Shane said in a whispered yell. I elbowed him slightly hoping that Tess hadn't heard. I get the feeling that any little thing is going to set her off and she'll go back to the Tess we all know. I turned to see if she had and she was still standing in the same spot with the same look she had when Shane shook her hand.

"I think she's frozen." I whispered back to Shane.

"She is an ice queen." Shane joked. This time I couldn't help but laugh along with him.

Caitlyn was next; she was leaning on the bus with a glum look to her face, one of the many times that she could actually have her laptop out and being making music, she wasn't. "Hey Caitlyn!" I called when we were only a few metres away. Her head snapped up quickly before she sprinted over to me and engulfed me into a bone crushing hug. I heard Shane's laughter for the millionth time today; his outlook on the end of camp couldn't be more opposite than my own. I get the feeling he hasn't really thought about what will happen after camp.

"I'm gonna miss you. Come visit me. Oh we could even work on a song if you want." Caitlyn said as she continued to strangle me.

"I won't be able to if you keep hugging me like this." I managed to wheeze out. She took a quick step backwards and lunged at Shane, wrapping her arms around him much like she did to me. Shane looked utterly terrified and it was now my turn to laugh.

"Can't Breath!" Shane coughed.

"Sorry." Caitlyn muttered. "Man, I'm going to miss you guys."

"I'll miss you too Caitlyn."

"Same here." Shane added. Caitlyn opened her mouth to speak but she was cut off by an extremely loud beep of a car horn.

"Shane, hurry up!" Nate screamed from inside their limo. I rolled my eyes. Nate Black; bossy, demanding, headstrong and a little temperamental, whatever you wanted to call him he was one of the many best friends I had obtained from attending Camp Rock.

"Hold on!" Shane screamed through gritted teeth. He squeezed down on my hand a little too hard.

"Ouch! Shane, ease up on the grip for a second!" I winced in pain. He let go and I jumped around holding my sore right hand in my left.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry Mitchie. You know how I get." Shane tried to follow me while he apologised.

"Yeah, it's fine. Don't worry about it." I flicked my wrist trying to stop the throbbing. It wasn't as bad now but still, that boy works out!

"Mitchie, do you want some ice? You're hands red." Caitlyn stated. I stared at my hand and she was right, it was a shade lighter than the inside of a tomato.

"No, it'll be right in a minute." Caitlyn and Shane looked at me like I was crazy. "Trust me." I added for emphasis.

"Everyone taking the bus better get on now." Dee's voice, as high-pitched as it was, echoed through the camp grounds.

Caitlyn sighed sadly. "That's me; I'll see you guys soon...somehow." She gave us one last hug.

"I'll text you when I get home." I said. She nodded.

"I'll e-mail when I can." Shane added. She nodded again. I get the feeling she was trying not to cry. She ran over to the limo containing two out of three, Connect 3 members. I laughed slightly. Caitlyn was totally crushing on Nate and he was totally crushing back. It was only a matter of time before they got together. At least I hope, what's going to happen to them after camps over? More important what about Shane and I?

I started to panic, the world seemed a little foggy, and the ground didn't even seem to be there. Somehow I was saying goodbye to Barron, Sander, Lola and Andy. I loved all four of them but I can't understand a word they're saying, let alone me. The blurs of colour that I assumed to be four of the greatest people I've met on camp disappeared. The only thing I seemed to be able to notice was Shane's hand in mine.

I felt a tug and my feet followed in that direction, something hot went down my cheeks and I realised why it was hard for me to see. Tears were clogging up my vision and now that I was alone with Shane they spilled over.

"Mitchie, why are you crying?" Shane's voice was caring; he hadn't spoken to me or anyone else for that matter, like that today.

"What's going to happen to us now?" I muttered. I was staring at Shane's black converses; they begin to blend in with the ground as the tears continued to pour.

"What do you mean?" Of course, everyone always asks that. They never answer you straight. They know what you mean, but it's like their stalling or something, thinking of a way to answer. Human beings are so predictable sometimes.

"You know what I mean Shane." I said bluntly. I heard him sigh and I felt his arms wrap around me.

"Nothing's gonna happen, we'll call, text, e-mail, IM whenever we can. Remember that I love you, Mitchie. I spent all summer trying to find you and the whole time you were right in front of me. You're the girl I dream about, you're the girl that changed me back to well...me. Nothing is ever going to change that, or how much I love or the fact that I can't get you're song out of my head still. We're going to make this work, scratch that. This will work." Shane's speech did nothing to stop the tears but brought them on more. My stress was almost gone, almost.

"Promise me one thing." I whispered after a moment, when the sobbing had become more controllable.

"Anything." Gosh he can be so cliché sometimes.

"You won't go back to the old Shane and you'll stick with the kind of person you are right now." I bit my lip, hoping that he could say yes and actually mean it.

"I promise you that I will stay who I am right now. I also promise you that I won't change for anyone except you." Shane whispered. I couldn't hear a falter in his voice. He meant every word he said and I believe it. I buried myself deeper into his chest, knowing that this will be the last time for a long time that I will be with him again.

"Bye Shane." I murmured. It was muffled since I was literally pressed against his chest.

"I'll miss you, Mitchie." He whispered into my hair. "I love you."

I looked up at him our brown eyes were both wet and I couldn't help but smile. I had brought the infamous bad boy, Shane Gray to tears. "I love you too."

Our lips connected for one last time, it was safe to say that the moment was perfect. Until the sound of a car horn filled the air. Shane and I parted to see Jason with his head sticking out the window. I could see that Shane was glaring at him.

"Sorry about that. Nate threw my birdhouse and it hit the driver in the head and made him accidently blow the horn." Jason's innocent looking face was enough to make me forgive him. Shane on the other hand took his innocence as stupidity.

"You're gonna have one long drive back." Shane warned.

"Who is?" Jason asked, his head tilted slightly. He's like the puppy I never had, because he can talk. Great, now I'm starting to think like him.

"You are!" Shane growled. I rubbed his back to calm him.

"Remember what you promised." I whispered.

"Oh right." He mumbled. "Can I still annoy them though?" He pointed to his limo.

"Of course. You did that way before you were famous anyway." I grinned at him.

"How do you know that?" Shane narrowed his eyes, evaluating how much I was joking.

"Nate and Jason told me." I continued to grin.

"I'll get them back one day." Shane muttered. "I better go; Nate's not going to be happy if we have to wait here any longer." I nodded.

"I'll talk to you later. I love you." I kissed him once more.

"I love you more." He slid something of his finger and placed it in my hand replacing his own hand. "To remember me." He added before running towards the limo backwards smiling at me.

I watched as the taillights faded away into the shadows of the trees and sighed. I opened my fist and realised that Shane had given me his purity ring. Oh God! The press is going to have a felid day with this. Girls all over the world already hate me enough. Now this?

I must admit I do appreciate the gesture, but I'll be pummelled when I get home.
