Everything is Not What it Seems

3 Months Later

Don't you just wish life were easier? That somehow things would just fly by and you could go along with it with a real smile on your face that 'lights up a room.' Huh, if only.

Everyone thinks that being fabulous, famous; Mr. Shane Gray would help this wish to be true. Judgemental jerks. How is it easy to be this far away, for three months, from the girl you love? Especially when all the stuffed up little tabloids can only criticise her and the second they get bored of that they start abusing me. "Life sucks!"

"I second that. I don't think Mitchie's taking care of Larry properly, no matter what she says." Only Jason would say that. He is so out of it something that I wonder how he passed high school.

"Would you stop talking about birds for 5 minutes?" I screamed. Nate and Jason exchanged looks. Great, they've been talking about me behind my back. It's seems like girls aren't the only one to do that. "What?"

"You've been really...how do I say this with manners?" I say it again, idiot! Nate rolled his eyes and sighed.

"You've been a jerk." Nate Black, always one to spare a guy's feelings.

"Have not." I folded my arms over my chest. Back to pre-school Shane.

"You made Melanie cry yesterday when you yelled at her." It's a miracle, Jason stopped talking about birds!

"She deserved it. I asked for hot coffee, not iced tea." Nate and Jason shared yet another look.

"Do you hear yourself?" Nate looked disgusted.

"Yeah, I thought you weren't supposed to be mean anymore." Jason looked like a kid who'd just been yelled at for no reason. I shook my head.

"You guys know how hard it is, you have girlfriends." I defended. Our backup band came up behind Nate and Jason.

"I find a way to deal with it." Alan, our keyboardist, shrugged it off.

"How?"

"Do you know how many girls want to sleep with you? When they can't get you they settle for me." He smirked. My blood boiled. He was cheating on Tara and implying that he wanted me to do the same thing.

"Are you serious, Al? Does Tara know this?" I screamed. Jason walked backwards off the stage, I wanted to join him but I wanted to punch Alan's face in. Nate moved over to my side, sensing this would get ugly.

"Yes, to both." He was grinning now. I felt sick; I thought Alan was a good guy, so much for that.

"She's letting you? Dude, that's not right."

"She said as long as she doesn't have to hear about it she's fine," Alan paused and lowered his voice, "There's a nice blonde out that back waiting for you if you want."

That did it I punched him straight in the face. He landed on the floor with a thud and I kicked his side. Nate tried to pull me away but I turned on him without thinking, blood poured from his nose. Alan scrambled off the ground and ran away. But I was still angry. In three steps I was standing over the drum set and with a quick push it laid on the floor in a messy heap. I kicked all the lights off the edge of the stage. It was better than taking it out on my band mates.

I turned to see Nate guarding his precious Gibson, gaping at me with an almost terrified expression. I shook my head and sprinted to the tour bus. I had to hide.

I jumped around the bus frantically trying to calm myself and also make amends for what I just did. Not to mention the second the press gets a hold of this story Mitchie will find out I broke my promise to her.

"Fuck!" I pulled at my hair slightly. Almost instantly my phone started ringing, Mitchie's song was my ringtone. Her voice instantly calmed me. I checked the ID and it was her.

"Hey babe." I made an effort to make my voice sound even.

"Hey, what's wrong you sound exhausted?" What was the point I can't hide from her, but I still try anyway.

"Nothing really, just came back from sound check."

"Okay then..." She said slowly. She didn't believe me. Subject change!

"You're the reason I'm alive." Real smooth Shane. She won't see through that!

"You are so cheesy." She giggled.

"Then you're the biscuit because you complete me."

"Okay Shane, seriously." She continued to laugh.

"You know I miss you. I can't help but say strange things." I laughed with her.

"I don't think that's because you miss me. I think that's because you are strange." She joked.

"I'll have you know, I'm not strange, just special."

"Yeah and I'm a pretty little fairy." Her voice went distant as if she was imagining a land far, far away. I knew she was.

"You're right about the pretty and little part, not so sure about the fairy." I smirked.

"Are you making fun of my height, Shane Aaron Gray?" She continued the playful fight.

"You know me to well, Michelle Patricia Torres." I played along.

"Well enough to know that you're hiding something." Her voice was serious. Game over.

"What?" I feigned shock. Music videos did give me some acting skills.

"Come on, Shane. What's happened?" She pushed. Her voice was concerned.

"Nothing you have to worry about. They just...lost my mic stand." Fabulous, she'll really believe that.

"Your mic stand?" The tone of her voice confirmed it. I am a terrible liar, or maybe its just to her.

"Yeah." My voice broke. I was more nervous than I thought. "You know how I love my mic stands."

"Okay." She didn't believe it. The only person that would believe that balony was Jason. "I have to get my stuff ready for school so I'll talk to you later, yeah?"

"Umm, sure. I'll call you after the concert."

"Fine by me. Break a leg, babe. I love you." Mitchie said sadly. I let out a sigh. She knew I was lying and it was hurting her.

"Thanks, I love you too, I miss you so much." I said in the same miserable tone.

"I miss you more. Bye." Dial tone. Crap.

a /n: so I pretty much hate this chapter. It was poorly written. Oh well. And for those confused people Shane and Mitchie did not have sex, he gave her the ring to signify the promise. And yes. Shane is away on tour and this was his POV. REVIEWS.
