I wrote this after watching Enchanted on DVD and seeing one of the deleted scenes. I'm not sure if it hints at Gelphie or Fiyeraba more... I wrote it with one in mind, but when I read it over I felt the other option more. So feel free to tell me when you review (because of course you're going to review, duh) which pairing you saw!
Shiz could be very peaceful at night, in that hour or two when it's late enough to be tucked away into your room, but early enough to still be awake. Such was the state of Galinda and Elphaba, both curled up in their beds beneath thick blankets. However Galinda was not quite content; a lack of conversation bored her. So she decided to strike one up, about what had become her favorite topic. "Elphie, when Fiyero and I get married, will you be in our wedding?"
Elphaba winced a little, but Galinda didn't see. "Would you really want Shiz's Walking Piece Of Celery at your wedding, much less in the bridal party?"
"I'm not much for vegetables, but I would want my best friend there. And you're it," she stuck her lip out pouting a little, in a way she knew would get her what she wanted.
Elphaba shifted around in her bed, not looking at her friend's face or pout, turning sideways to look for something beneath it. "I would have absolutely nothing to wear to your wedding."
"Elphie, you get a new dress when you're in a wedding," Galinda said, forgetting that Elphaba had never been to a wedding and quite possibly didn't know that. She shifted so she was sideways as well, looking her friend in the eye. She went on to ask, "Only, he hasn't asked me to marry him yet, and he's getting more and more distant..."
The green girl gave up on finding whatever artifact was supposedly under her bed and rolled over so she was staring up at the ceiling. "The reason he hasn't asked you yet is because he isn't as insane as you are, ready to marry him after knowing him for a day. Of course, I'm sure he will. You two just go together, both perfectly flawless. He'd be insane not to want to marry you."
"But what if his one flaw is that he doesn't want me?"
Elphaba shut her eyes for a second, organizing her thoughts. "I highly doubt that, Lin." She got a very serious look on her face for a moment and added, "I see the two of you getting married, having a pair of perfectly blonde children, growing old together, neither of you ever looking any less stunning than you do right at this moment."
Galinda's eyes went wide. "Did you just have a vision?"
"No," Elphaba admitted. "Anyone, freakish 'gift' or not can see that."
They lapsed into quiet again, a quiet even more annoying to Galinda than the previous one. "Elphie, I think I've finally figured something out about you," she mused, leaning forward onto her elbows, glad the silence was broken again.
Elphaba tipped her head back so her dark hair brushed the dorm room's floor. "And what, may I ask is that?"
"You're a hopeless romantic who thinks romance is hopeless."
Elphaba hesitated for a second, a look of mild horror due to the accusation on her face. After a beat, she snapped out of it, rolled over so wasn't upside down anymore, and threw one of her pillows at Galinda, nailing her right in the face. "I think it's in both of our best interests to go to bed, right now before something else equally ridiculous flies out of that pretty little mouth of yours." Without waiting for her roommate's consent, Elphaba turned off the lights and dived under the covers of her bed.
Galinda simply smirked for a minute, knowing that many ridiculous things were true and that she had definitely struck a nerve. "Goodnight, my hopeless romantic," she called out, this time ducking away from the pillow thrown at her head.
