Hi! I'm May Maple. I'm a normal 14 year old girl that attends Combusken Middle School in Rustboro City. This used to be the place that trainers used to go to battle Roxanne and earn a badge, but none of that exist anymore… In fact, pokemon are freed and forbidden to be capture and used in battle. Long ago, a long horrendous war happened where many people and pokemon's lives were lost. The war angered Acesus and he demanded pokemon to be released and never be used for war or even battle ever again. People tried to ignore and disobey this command, but officers and pokemon rangers worked together and make sure anyone who disobeys this rule is stopped and put to justice. Nowadays, people mostly don't use pokemon to make a living, and only have them as pets if they do have any. We have a zigzagoon and a slaking in our family. Children have to go to school till 18 years old after graduating high school, and after that expect to get a job and start to build on their own life. And that is just fine with me, as I want to be a flight attendant. It'll have me travel the world and see and know it all with great pay! Sounds great, right?
My alarm sounds off for me to get up, and I quickly get dressed into my school uniform and get my hair done. It takes me awhile, but I finally got my hair perfect.
"…May, you're going to be late for school!" my mother shouts.
I sigh, as she always says that. But then I look at the time and I have only ten minutes till class starts. I scream and dash down the door and trip on Max's baseball.
Max busted out laughing. "Maybe you should pay more attention, sis!" Max is my annoying younger brother. He's such a know-it-all brat.
"Owww! You jerk! You left that there on purpose!" I shouted.
"No I didn't!"
"What if mom or dad fell down the stairs while carrying a laundry basket?!"
"Stop lecturing me! You ain't my mom!"
"I am older than you are, though!"
"I don't care!"
I get up in his face and glare at him.
"Besides, aren't you supposed to be getting to class?" Max said with a smirk.
I looked at the time and whined. It was now five minutes before my first period starts. I dashed out the door and raced on my bike as fast as I could to try and make it to my class.
Before I made it to school though, I saw some elementary kids picking on a skitty. I couldn't stand seeing this, so I stopped and shouted at them to leave it alone. They ran off and I went to the skitty to see if it was okay. There was a bandage on its forehead it was trying to get off, so I peeled it off. Underneath was it's a mark in the shape of the moon, and I stared at it with a curious look.
It looked at me and smiled.
"…There! Hopefully those bullies won't bother you anymore!" I got up and checked the time. My class was starting, and I panicked. "Nooo! I can't get there in time, now!"
Once I made it to class, I was 10 minutes late and was pulled out and given a lecture about being on time as the other students were doing the school assessment. It was embarrassing enough rushing in late. I sighed as I thought about Guardian V. Guardian V is a real heroine about my age who defeats bad people. She had long, beautiful dark blue hair and dark blue eyes. If I was her, I bet I wouldn't have to be forced to go to school. "I wish I was Guardian V…" I thought to myself. It was a struggle making it through school with no breakfast. But after I ate lunch, it wasn't too long until I was hungry again. Finally, my last period got over with and I rushed to my favorite burger joint and dug into my burger. Suddenly, I ran into that skitty again. I smiled. "Hello again!"
"Hello, Guardian Moon," the skitty responded.
I gasped. "Skitty can talk?"
The skitty shushed me. "Quiet! Listen, May… I searched deep inside you and found out that you are one of the guardians that Arcus created."
I gave it a confused look. "Arceus… created guardians?"
The skitty closed her eyes with an irritated look. "There's no time to explain that now. The world is in danger, and we need you to defeat the threats and protect the universe!"
I frowned. "I'm just a regular teenager! I can't do that!"
She smiled. "Of course you can, Guardian Moon!"
"I think you should find Guardian V! She's the one capable of all that!"
The skitty sighed. "Come on, May. Do you really think one guardian is able to do everything?"
I thought about it for a bit and frowned. "No, but…"
Her forehead glowed and a wand appeared in front of her with a moon on the top. "Just use this wand, connect your soul with it, and transform into Guardian Moon!"
I looked at it with a horrified look. It hit me just how much pressure I've been pushed on.
"Please, May! We don't have…"
"You got it all wrong!" I shouted.
"What?"
"I'm just a normal girl! How can I go through my whole life without knowing that I was a guardian?"
"Because…"
"Guardian V has probably known all along that she was a guardian… at least she known longer than… just now!"
"Yes, but…"
"So, I can't be one! There's no way I'm one! There's no way I could ever do what Arcus expects of me and protect the universe!" I dropped my food and ran off.
"May, wait! Please!"
I had no destination in mind, I just ran. Suddenly, I heard a scream. As I looked over, I saw a duskull creepily floating over to Breanna. She was a student that was a year younger than me. She's pretty boy crazed and was very self-centered. But I couldn't just walk off when she needed help. I picked up a rock and chucked it at the ghost pokemon.
It looked over at me with an annoyed look.
I looked away and started sweating.
It popped up in front of me and screeched.
I cried out in pain.
Breanna ran off.
"H-hey! Is this the thanks I get?"
She didn't say anything but ran faster.
I took that as my que to just start running as well.
The duskull started throwing Shadow Balls at me.
I started crying. "Guardian V, where are you?" But no one came. The attacks just kept coming.
The skitty appeared with the wand in its mouth and threw it in my hands.
"I'll keep it busy. Just transform."
I looked at it with an uncertain look.
The skitty dashed towards the Duskskull and went to scratch it. But her paw went through it.
The Duskull laughed as it powered up a Shadow Ball.
"Oh no!" I shouted.
The skitty glared at it with a determined look as it ran around it.
Duskull throw the attack, and it looked as though it hit the skitty. But the skitty stood looking undamaged.
"Alright! Go skitty!" I cheered.
"May, what are you doing?" the skitty shouted.
The Duskull's focus was back on me, and it went back attacking me.
I ran off. "What do you mean what am I doing? It can't even hurt you! Why do expect me to fight it for?"
The skitty was running beside me. "My powers are practically non-existent from generations of not battling!"
"But… what about this pokemon?"
She looked down. "I don't know…" Then she looked back at me with a serious look. "All I know is that this pokemon is from the people that are threating the destruction of earth."
I teared up. "Why would someone want to destroy earth?"
"It doesn't matter! If they aren't stopped, then everyone will die!"
We stopped as I looked back at the duskull.
"…Alright. I'll gave it a try."
The skitty smiled. "Thanks, May!" She then ran around the duskull to distract it again.
I took a deep breath as I hid behind some buildings and put the wand to my forehead. It glowed, and I suddenly had on a different outfit and makeup on. I stared at myself with a confused look. Suddenly I heard the skitty shout in pain and when I looked, I saw she got a bad burn. I gave the duskull a serious look and pointed at it. "Alright you evil pokemon. You pay for terrorizing citizens and harming this poor skitty!"
The skitty starred at me with an approving look.
The duskull started to power up a Shadow Ball.
I screamed and ran off.
The skitty sighed as it ran after me. "Come on, Guardian Moon! Toss your tiara at it!"
I looked up at the top of my head. "Okay! Tell me that I can do that sooner next time!"
The skitty gave an unamused look. "Do I have to tell you everything…"
I chucked my tiara as hard as I could at the duskull, but completely missed and it went into the back of a garbage truck. Me and the skitty freaked out as the truck slowly went out of sight. "N-now what?"
The skitty was going to say something, but a Shadow Ball from the duskull got our attention.
I cried out loudly. "THIS IS JUST TERRIBLE! HOW COULD ARCUES PUT SO MUCH PRESSURE ON A TEENAGE GIRL LIKE ME!" The sound from me yelling was being amplified unbeknownst to me.
The duskull feel to the ground and whimpered.
The skitty held onto her ears with a pained look. "Guardian Moon… your tiara is connected to you. You can get it back by focusing it back on your forehead!"
"I DON'T WANT TO GET GARBAGE ALL OVER ME! I DON'T WANT TO EVEN DO THIS ANYMORE!" I kept crying, not noticing the powerful Shadow Ball flying towards me. But suddenly, a rose hit the attack and saved me. We looked around to see where the rose came from.
"There are some unpleasant things that need to be done in order to do what we need to do," a male voice said.
We looked up to where the voice came from, and saw a man dressed in all black with well-kept green hair, a top hat, a cape, dress shoes, a tuxedo and hidden behind a mask.
A small blush appeared on my face as I gazed up at him. "Who are you?"
"I cannot say, though for now you may refer to me as Thorn."
I smiled. "Thank you… Thorn."
"Guardian Moon, it isn't over!" the skitty shouted.
I screamed. "What? What do you mean?"
She sighed. "Just pull out your wand, point it at the duskull, and put your energy on healing it!"
"O-okay…" I did what the skitty told me. The wand glowed, and the light absorbed the duskull and it slowly disappeared. "…That did it, right?"
The skitty sighed of relief. "Yes…"
I smiled and jumped up and happily shouted, "Alright!"
"You defeated a weak minion of the dark kingdom. We aren't done protecting the world…"
I fell onto the ground and groaned. But then shot right back up with a smile. "Well, if I have Thorn by my side, we'll easily defeat the dark…" We looked to where Thorn was, but he was gone.
