The entire family had a particularly frustrating weekend, beginning with Emmett and Rosalie having Saturday detention for arguing and swearing in the cafeteria at lunch on Friday. They'd been given a half hearted lecture on respect and a warning on controlling their disrespectful language which left Rose in a foul mood. Jasper struggled with their emotions all weekend with only the reprieve of their Saturday excursion to the school. Carlisle was supposed to be off all weekend so everyone could go hunting together and play ball when the storms rolled in, but not only was the weather clear the entire time, Carlisle spend most of it in the hospital. Even Esme, the ever radiant beacon of loveliness, had a short temper. Everyone knew it would culminate in disaster. However, the weekend ended and Monday came which seemed to only heighten the discontent.

"Rosalie, Emmett" an irritatingly familiar voice arrested us the moment we walked in. We stopped as a group.

"I didn't ask for the rest of you, get to class." The principal half shouted at us. Rose immediately rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. Emmett locked eyes with me for a moment and then jerked his head to signal for us keep walking. Edward and I didn't go far, but Alice went on to class. Always the rule follower.

"He's going to cause trouble." Edward said to me. I nodded. I didn't need to be a mind reader to know that.

"Want to explain the me why you didn't shown up for Saturday detention this weekend?"

Rose and Emmett both gaped at the man.

"Uh we did. We were here on time and for the whole time." Emmett said before his wife could have a chance.

"Not according to the offices attendance record. You were reported for skipping."

"We were there." Spat Rose.

"Nice try. My office. Now." He started to walk to his office obviously expecting the other two to follow.

"He's enjoying this." Edward said to me. Again. Didnt need to be a mind reader, the smirk on his face told me everything I needed to know.

Emmett looked worried as he passed us. Edward grabbed his arm and whispered, "Dad will believe you, don't worry." Emmett nodded and followed. He'd been in trouble way too frequently lately and Carlisle was losing patience for the impulsive vampire. Even though he knew he'd never be punished unjustly, facing Carlisle could still be stressful.

Feeling Emmett's anxiety and Rosalies anger as they made their way to the office ignited something in me that I really wish had stayed away. I started down the hallway after them at a pace far to quick for comfort. Edward caught up to me and tried to warn me to cool down.

"Nothing is going to happen Jasper. Leave them alone."

I ignored him.

"Carlisle is going to be angry Jasper." He said. I paused briefly, but not long enough to see reason. That man had caused no end of turmoil for all of us. He enjoyed calling Carlisle to tattle on us for every little thing he could, but until now he'd never lied to get us in trouble.

I shoved past Edward and continued down the hallway.

"I'm going to call Carlisle if you go in there."

That felt like a threat, and I don't back down from threats.

"Daddys boy." I growled, not turning back. I slammed open the office door, straight past the incredulous secretary who tried her best to scold me back to the waiting room. She had no luck. I busted into the office just in time to hear the Principle say,

"If you don't tell me the truth, you can rest assured you'll be on Saturday detention the rest of the semester. I expect a full confession now."

Everyone jumped and stared as I entered.

"I don't recall asking you to join us Jasper. I suggest you take yourself to class immediately."

"They were there Saturday." I spat. I was so done with this man.

"I have record saying they weren't."

"Well your stupid records are wrong." I slammed my fist into his desk and pointed an accusatory finger in his face. "They were there. You're just looking for yet another reason to get us in trouble at home."

"I can assure you," he said coolly, "that you all would succeed on that front without any interferanc from me."

I couldn't stand this man and his antics any longer. I rushed towards him and got directly in his face before saying in a dangerously low voice with a guttural growl,

"They were there. But if you want to make it a problem, we can have a problem."

"Are you threatening me Cullen?" The principal questioned. He was pretending he wasn't afraid of me. There was no physical indication that he was, not even in his eyes. But I could feel it. He was terrified.

"Yea." I smiled and grabbed him by the collar, nearly lifting him in the heat of the moment. "I guess I am."

I don't know what came over me. Maybe a feral instinct took over. I was about to slam the man through the brick wall behind him, but luckily for me, Edward burst in and declared that Carlisle was already on his way.

"Good! Now get your brother out of my face before I have him arrested." He patted his collar back where it belonged and brushed his suit jacket with his hands.

"I am so sorry sir." Edward graveled. It disgusted me. "He's had a rough weekend. We all have."

Edward looked me in the eyes, and I finally felt his emotion instead of the principals fear. Edward was disappointed, but also afraid. This confused me long enough for Edward and Emmett to remove me from the room.

"Bro." Emmett said with shock in his voice. "You should have just let me handle it. The man is an imbecile. There were literally another dozen people there on Saturday was saw us. We could have handled it."

I deflated. I had no idea why I'd just done what I did. The only thing I knew was Carlisle was going to be pissed. Beyond pissed.

"Oh my god." I slammed my hands into my face. "I have to apologize." Remorse washed over me in tremors. Everyone winced.

"You need to get control Jasper." Emmett pleaded.

"I have to apologize Em."

"I'll go talk to him. " Edward volunteered.

I ignored him and walked back into the office, despite the nagging protests of Emmett and Edward.

"Sir. I am dreadfully sorry. I don't know what came over me."

The man stared at me. There was still fear. I sent a wave of calm his way, and went to sit where Emmett had been sitting.

"Can I go to math now?" Rose complained.

"No! All you Cullens can sit here and wait for your father to get here. I'll be having some serious words about the consequences of his lax parenting tactics."

I groaned. He had no idea what Carlisle considered parenting tactics. And honestly, this was the first moment today that I'd considered how likely it would be that I would be experiencing those tactics today. I slumped forward and put my head in my hands to await my "father".
