Loki of Hogwarts: Chapter 1
Welcome to the beginning of my tale. It starts off simply enough, with a boy, just shy of 9 years of age. He was particularly annoyed as he was getting teased by his order brother, who was already in Hogwarts and a proud Gryffindor. Their father was particularly proud of this, because he knew the other boy wouldn't be in Gryffindor so the elder was his only chance. This was old news of course, because the brother, Thor, was in his second year of Hogwarts.
Going back to the boy, he was feeling drawn to a certain room. Unsure of where this feeling would take him he followed it. Soon he found what was drawing him in and it appeared it was a tome. Feeling something this powerful made him giddy with anticipation. Now you may be wondering, who is this boy? This boy is me.
I was weak and wanted to become stronger. I saw my brother as strong and powerful, but also a muscle head. I wanted to be my own form of strong. So I was trying to this of way this tome called to me. I went to pick it up, and read in the first page,
'Read this aloud if you dare, For only the chosen can read what is there. Take my warning stranger, take heed! Do not read if filled with greed. This book is for the strong with the arts, the noble, the true, the illusionist at heart.'
I was not feeling particularly encouraged after reading that, but I suppose that is the point. While trying to decide what to do, I remembered my Mother. She was a master with things like this. I decided to take it to her to get her opinion.
As I sought her out, my mind wandered to the meaning of the words. The last line stuck with me the most, I realized that didn't sound anything like a Gryffindor. They would rather charge into battle then hide behind an illusion. Ravenclaw would certainly be true, and perhaps noble, but I would think it would say something about knowledge if it was meant for a Ravenclaw. As I continued thinking I realized something. It may not even revolve around the houses at all! There were other schools, and they didn't have houses, so it wasn't likely that it revolved around them.
It mentioned an illusionist, so maybe it just had to be someone who was skilled at illusions. My train of thought was soon interrupted, because I found my mother in the kitchen.
"Oh hello my son" She said warmly.
"Hello Mother, I found this book and I was wondering what you thought of it?" I say while passing her the tome I had found. She took it and looked it over, first the front, then back, and she flipped through the pages, including the one with the message.
"Loki this appears to just be a normal book. Did you find it while doing something? Even my illusion magic isn't picking anything up from it, so I really think it's just a book." She told me, slightly confused about why I was asking her about a blank book.
"Wait your illusion magic?" I asked, curious about the mention of illusions.
"Yes it's a part of my family gifts, along with language, and wit of tongue. Why?"
"When I look at the book it says 'Read aloud if you dare, for only the chosen can read what is there-" I was saying as she clamped her hand over my mouth.
"That is an ancient legend in my family and it says whoever completes the quotation will either die or be the chosen. The reason it is in my family is our gift for illusions. It is for the strongest in the generation to recite. All before you have failed and I'm not losing one of my sons to the curse." She said rapidly.
"What?!" I exclaimed worried that I might have done something.
"It's fine I have caught you before you could finish. Though this will require more thinking on our part. Our version of the legend is more intact then this book you have found. I will explain it more to you in private." She said with a hint of relief in her voice.
"Is there something wrong with here?" I asked, because nobody was around.
"It is clear you got more of my family's blood than Thor did, and that's why you have my family's gifts. Thor has the athletic ability that comes with the Asgardian name, and you seem to carry the Athens side, which now is our family."
"Soon I will take you to our family for you to meet them. Did you ever notice it was always the Asgardians that came to the events?" She asked though it was fairly clear that it was rhetorical. "Exactly. They always favored the athletics and brawns while we focus on more important things like the shield and illusions. I am skilled in illusions yes, but compared to my family? I am close to the worst in my family. Which is why I am a healer not an illusionist."
As she finished talking I found I only had one question for her. "When can I meet them?" I asked because all her talk on illusions and the ideas of everything I could do with it, even some basic transfiguration magic could be done. "Soon my son, they don't like to wait long, so you shouldn't have to be patient for long. Soon you and I will be training you for the meeting" She said.
"Thank you for talking with me about this Mother" I told her truly meaning it.
"Its no problem my son, we are family after all. *Soon to be in more ways than one*."
You may be wondering what she meant by that, trust me I was as well. But that's getting ahead of us isn't it. Now lets go to when the training started
