1. Chapter 1: Years 0000 - 0009

Unknown Time -

- George Glenn is created by an unknown scientist or group of scientists.

- As petroleum resources run out and environmental pollution worsens, a worldwide economic collapse ensues. The world's nations form economic blocs, dividing the planet into a handful of major powers.

- A cabal of Industrialists, Supremacists, and those hungering for Eternal Life join together to form the organization SEELE. Which in turn would go on to establish many organizations whom would cause trouble within the Earth Sphere. Such as LOGOS and the Romafeller Foundation, if only indirectly.

A.D. 1969

The Apollo program of NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States, finally succeeded in sending mankind to the moon. This is the first footprint of mankind on the surface of the moon.

1990 A.D.

Concerns over sporadically localized conflicts erupting around the globe run risk of spiraling out of control and escalating into a Third World War. The various crises also fueled concerns over severe pollution, overpopulation, resource shortages, famine, and increasing levels in crime and violence.

1995 A.D.

Ethnic and religious strife leads to a global conflict known as the Reconstruction War, while the Type S influenza virus spreads throughout the world. Disease and war produce massive casualties.

1997 A.D.

1999 A.D.

The Earth Federation government is established to deal with the global crisis. The human space colonization program is announced around this time. Earth's surface is divided into eleven administrative areas. North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, South Asia, East Asia, Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Oceania.

In the process of negotiating a lasting peace between the warring nations, the "United Earth Sphere Alliance" is established. In order to keep the peace - and deal with nations that oppose the new world government - the Alliance Forces are formed. One of the Alliance's key financial supporters is the military-industrial combine called the Romefeller Foundation.

2005 A.D.

The first solar power satellite is successfully launched.

2009 A.D.

The Earth Federation Forces is founded.

2025 A.D.

The Jupiter Energy Fleet is launched from lunar orbit.

2045 A.D.

Construction of the first colony begins.

Several nations establish permanent space stations in Earth orbit. This is the first year of the Universal Century (UC) calendar.

With Earth's population surpassing 9 billion, an ambitious space colonization program begins. The migration of humans to the colonies, the moon, and to space. By the time of this transition, the calendar is changed to the Universal Century era.

The Laplace Space Station is built in Earth's Orbit. Ricardo Marcenas is elected as the first prime minister of the Earth Federation. During the calendar change ceremony, terrorists use solar powered explosives to destroy the Laplace Space Station, killing most of the inhabitants. One survivor, Syam Vist, comes across the Universal Century charter (Laplace's Box), which dictates that the inhabitants of space should be given self-governance without interference from the Earth. Realizing that the words contain the power to destroy the Earth Federation, Syam takes the document with him into hiding and marries into the influential Vist Family.

Construction of Side 1 (L1) Bunch 1 (Shangri-La) space colony is completed.

New powers in the form of the Atlantic Federation, Eurasian Federation, Republic of East Asia, Equatorial Union, Kingdom of Scandinavia, United States of South America, South African Union, African Community, Oceania Union, and Orb Union have emerged.

Construction of the space station Yggdrasil, which had been interrupted by the global war, resumes at Lagrange Point 1.

The Colony Management Corporation (CMC) is established.

Nuclear weapons are employed on the frontlines of central Asia, in the Kashmir region (known as the "Last Nuke"). The resulting shock motivates the combatants to resolve their conflicts peacefully.

George Glenn is nominated for a Nobel Prize.

The United Nations formally adopts the Cosmic Era calendar, with C.E. 1 being the year of the Last Nuke, and announces a new space development program. Construction of the fourth generation International Space Station Yggdrasil, which had been interrupted by the global war, resumes at Lagrange Point 1.
