"Dipper are you sure we are going the right way? We've been walking for hours!" Mabel complained. Her feet were sore and she was hungry.
"Calm down Mabel, I'm sure I went this way last time." Dipper replied. Mabel groaned in response.
They were walking in the woods going towards an abandoned school Dipper had found in a book at the library. If he could find it again.
They had left early in the morning, telling their Grunkles that they were going to explore. Dipper had made sure to pack everything they might need, flashlights, batteries, and bug spray. While Mabel packed glitter covered peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
The sun was directly above them when Dipper came at a sudden halt. Mabel ran smack into him with an "Oomph".
There in front of them was an old brick and steel walkway leading up to a rather large building. Dipper had read in the library that it was abandoned in the late 1970's to early 1980's.
"Found it! See I told you we weren't lost." Dipper said with triumph
"Wow bro-bro I though you were lying about an abandoned school and just wanted to drag me around." Mabel said. Dipper bumped her with his elbow. She rolled her eyes. "Well are we going to go in or not? No fun coming all this way without breaking and entering!" She said as she skipped up the steps.
It was Dipper's turn to roll his eyes. He went after his sister up the stairs. By the time he got to the top Mabel was already trying to pry the door open. It seemed like it was locked shut by the debris behind it.
"We'll have to find another way in." Dipper said. He looked around the building, finding a small play ground. "Hey Mabel look." He pointed. Mabel skipped over and smiled.
"Race ya!" She said as she ran twords the swings. "Mabel! No fair!" Dipper chased.
Mabel made it there first, taking a victory bow. "You... cheated.." Dipper said in between breaths holding onto a pole.
"Pfft, cheated shmeated. I prefer the term 'winning easily'." She emphasized with a roll of her hand. She sat down on one of the swings and took out a paper bag from her backpack, zipping it back up. Dipper sat down next to her on the other swing.
Mabel took out two sandwiches and handed one to her brother. He put his hand up, face contorted in disgust. "No thank you, I'd rather eat a unicorn." He said. Mabel just shrugged and took a bite of his sandwich.
Dipper rocked his legs as he looked around. The metal squeaked and groaned at the movements but seemed pretty sturdy.
"What kind of nerdy stuff do you know about this place?" His sister asked with a full mouth.
"Not much. I know it was founded in 1957 and was closed for an unknown reason in 1984. There are rumors that it went out of business because no one really lived in gravity falls at the time and there are rumors that a mass shooting happened but there aren't any theories to prove that one. No one really knows why it was abandoned. Other than that I couldn't find anything other than a photograph. Not even the location. I went off by picture." He said and took the photo out of his pocket. He showed it to his twin.
She held it up to the building, looking at the difference. "Wow, I wonder what school was like in the 80's. What if there are 80's ghosts?! That would be cool." She giggles, putting the remaining sandwich away.
"Mabel no one died here. Doubtful that there are teenage ghosts floating about." He said.
"Ya never know dip-dot." She sung as she dusted off the glitter..on her shirt. Dipper stared at the building. That's when he noticed an open window on the second floor. The vines seemed to grow around and inside of the open space. "Hey Mabel, wanna go inside?" He asked. She stood up and nodded, still chewing. He walked over to the window below it.
He got down on his knees and cupped his hands. Mabel looked up at the window and put her foot in his hands. "One, two, three!" Dipper counted and Mabel jumped and grabbed onto the windowsill. She pulled herself inside, falling nearly half way. "Oof!" She yelled.
"Are you okay?!" Dipper exclaimed. She popped back out of the window with a thumbs up and her cheeky grin. "I'll unlock the back door for you, you just need to find it." She suggested.
Dipper nodded. "On it."
He walked back to their backpacks and picked up Mabel's. He went around the back of the school and to his surprise was a door. It could lead to a gym, Dipper thought. "I found it Mabel!" He called. Much to his surprise the door opened as he finished his call.
"Wow that was quick, Mabes" he said as he stepped inside the dark room. There was no reply.
His eyes adjusted to the dark slowly. No one was there. "Mabel..?" He called. There was no reply. She had ditched him already. Dipper pulled out a flashlight. He pointed it at the walls, covered in moss and vines. Through the clutter of greenery he could see that it was a gym. His sister was probably playing a prank on him.
He moved his flashlight over the bleachers. A dark patch caught his attention and he shined his flashlight over it again but it wasn't there. "Mabel come on this isn't funny." He said. He knew she would jump out and scare him at any moment. He walked behind the bleachers, the lights turning on and scaring him. He closed his eyes on instinct. He calmed down and opened his eyes again to adjust to the new lighting.. "Ah!" He shrieked staring Infront of him
"My name's not Mabel silly!"
