Little Tokyo Island.
Situated just east of the main islands of Japan, the island itself is a small micro nation located within Japan's political sphere of influence. Little Tokyo Island was named after the city of Tokyo itself when the post-WWII government exiled all military and political figures responsible for the war there. But it was not just them either.
Many people also left to go there of their own free will, seeing the island as a valve for releasing some of their population to ease the burden on the main islands. As a result of its volcanic past, Little Tokyo Island is very fertile and contains vast deposits of ores left behind by subsequent eruptions over the course of its history. This has allowed three major cities and smaller communities to spawn on its surface.
Located just to the west of the island's center lies the town of Cityville. A vast, sprawling settlement, it holds the feel of a real city, with criminals and gangs running rampant. Despite a well funded and competent police force, the city's underworld has not seen much of a decrease in their criminal activities, leading some to believe that corruption runs rampant at the highest levels of government. But there has been no evidence to prove this theory.
Huddled on the eastern coast of Little Tokyo Island is the small but vitally important town of Farmville. This community is, due to its large size, considered a city on paper instead. Founded when the first settlers arrived at the end of World War II, the rich volcanic soil and abundant plant life have allowed the farmers there to grow many different crops and even take care of livestock. This community makes the island self-sufficient in regards to food. But as a result it lacks in the electronics, making them dependent on the main Japanese islands for such things.
Around the central volcano is the main hub of industry and governmental activity on the island, the city of Townsville. The city is not just the hub of the island's government: it is also the largest city on the island, boasting a whopping 250,000 people at the minimum and gaining a large influx of tourists from the rest of the world during tourism season. The mayor of Townsville runs the day to day bureaucracy of the city's government while the Governor of the island is situated in an office building within the downtown of Townsville.
The city is also known the world over for the three beacons of light that have brought hope to the city's populace as a whole.
