"Could it be done?"

"No. It's just not possible."

"It might be possible."

An argument was ongoing. A group of scientists and mercenaries, called together in a dull board room to assess a situation, were having difficulty coming to a consensus.

"No, its not," asserted one of the men with a note of finality, "We were lucky, very lucky, to find Weapon S. But he quite simply would not survive the bonding process."

Another scientist nodded in agreement, "that's the crux of the matter really," he waved at a board, which held various diagrams, formulas, and blueprints, "there isn't an existing subject that has the right mix of powers to survive the process."

A third scientist opened his mouth, but the first scientist forestalled him with a glare, "debating a fact is pointless."

The third scientist persisted stubbornly, "We could bond a powerset, it would be a three-step process but it we know it could work."

"Are you suggesting we kidnap Wolverine?"

"We could get him . . . but his disappearance wouldn't go unnoticed," commented a mercenary, examining the knife in his hand, "And it was my understanding this was meant to be a low profile operation."

"What about using some of Wolverine?" offered a different scientist, pushing up his glasses. The group around the table turned to look at him, "A genetic replica could be made, we could guarantee it would have Wolverine's powers, the whole field is promising in general, and I really think—"

"—Certainly it has merit," interjected the first Scientist, "but realistically, the capability to clone a human is still years away."

"He's right," agreed the third scientist reluctantly, "I'm not saying you can't work towards it Mark, but right now? We can't do it."

"Then what can you do gentlemen?" inquired a low voice, the assembled looked at the head of the table, where one man sat next to an empty chair. The man calmly leaned forward, "The only result you have given to date was a product of sheer luck," he noted quietly, the man's expression darkened, "I'm afraid, that we did not hire you to rely on luck."

"I have business to attend to, but you will find a way to create a Weapon or understand that I will find people who can," He stood up and began leave the room, "which would relegate your only use . . ."

". . . to being a warning against failure."

First fic, here we go.

First order of business, this is not a direct port of everything Marvel into DC. I have a part for a few Marvel characters in the story, as of right now. Mostly selected for their ability to fit into a set backstory. Some DC characters are worked into the OC's backstory as well, but DC or Marvel, nobody involved in the backstory is going to be showing up in the Main story anytime super soon; they are here to pitch in down the road.

I'm going to try to keep this interesting, keeping to the YJ plot while avoiding as much copy and pasting from episodes as possible. As best as I can manage, something will always be a little different from the show in each chapter, whether its an additional villain or even just the dialogue.
I'm also trying to avoid making a Mary Sue, since I always lose interest in stories where the hero is intimidating Batman by the second chapter.
If I ever seem like I'm heading in that direction, just tell me, and we'll take this car off road to avoid that pothole.
Crossposted on AO3 under the same name. Chapters will be longer in future. Posting Chapter 2 (1?) immediately and I already have the next few written.

Til next time.
