The initial hunt hadn't been a hard one considering the lengthy and bloodied trail her legacy had been leaving for her to follow but actually trapping her 'ripper' of an ex-girlfriend had been another matter in the separating years since Cal had last held the silver spear to her legacy's chest and vowed to kill her and every other legacy like her.
"I keep telling you I'm not turning it back on." Juliette spat tugging once again at the stinging bonds keeping her bound under the hunter's 'kicked puppy' gaze the longer this latest 'therapy session' as Juliette had come to think of them dragged on. "and you're still no closer to keeping your promise from that night." She taunted "all this time and you still can't kill me." She laughed bitterly
"You've murdered innocents."
"I'm a vampire it's what we do." Juliette spat
"No, it's not." Cal reminded her arms crossed over her front.
Juliette rolled her eyes "Come on not this again." She groaned letting her head lull back against the smooth wall behind her. "Look I'm getting hungry here and I've already released your precious Theo so I can't force him into letting me go so why not call him up and get him to bring over another of those gross blood pills you keep forcing me to take in some delusional attempt to starve me off the actual blood I need to survive." The vampire suggests seeing Cal was already texting someone as she paced in front of the trust-up legacy.
Yet when the door opened it wasn't to her ex-progeny but a small trio of women that Juliette knew just from the call of their blood were each a very powerful witch in her own right.
"Are you sure about this?" one of them asked
Cal nodes with a soft "I'm sure. It's the only other way I can think of."
"Once it is done, we'll have no way of calling you back until either the legacy turns her humanity back on as you're wanting her to or she kills you." Another warns
"Not a bad idea if it wasn't for all this silver." Juliette sighs sagging even more against her restraints as she spoke.
"You'll also risk more dangers by interacting with either of your younger selves as I fear that's what you intend with this spell."
"I want my Juliette back; I'll deal with the consequences as long as I get her back." Cal growled
"Not gonna happen." Juliette groaned her voice a flat sing-songy undertone in her half-starved state.
The three witches share a wary glance but each node in quiet agreement with the unspoken asking in the hunter's eyes.
"Think of a moment, a point in your earlier relationship where she was as you wish her to be again." The oldest of the trio instructs as her sister witches each trace a careful circle around the trust-up legacy. Each taking care to stay just out of the hungry vampire's reach.
Cal's eyes glaze over as she sorts through the possibilities before she smiles wistfully as a particular memory push to the forefront of her mind.
"Hold it." The witch instructs "Let it fill you up, lose yourself in that single point in your history."
If she were able Cal would have rolled her eyes or at least given a scoffed "Like that's hard" comment as she fell even deeper into the memories hold allowing another of the witch trio to guide her backward into the carefully constructed circle.
"We'll try to send you as close to a meeting point with your past selves as we can but mostly, we'll be making sure this legacy is properly hidden and restrained until you have use for her."
"Insulting." Juliette scoffed though her comment was quickly ignored by the others around her.
"We'll imprint her location once you've crossed paths with your younger selves, but I warn you don't relive too much, or you'll risk changing…."
"She already wants things to change otherwise you lot wouldn't be…." Juliette interrupts before a thick black cloth was bound tightly around her mouth with a snap of one of the witch's fingers.
"Good luck." Another sighs unfolding a folded page of notebook paper as her sisters crowd in around her to read it with her.
The next thing Cal knew she was standing on a street corner just after nightfall with the air smelling of something other than staled blood and a dank basement.
Jogging ahead a few steps she peaked as stealthily as she could around another street corner trying her best to line up her current positioning with that of the memory she'd chosen.
It doesn't take long for the two familiar outlines to come running toward her. Their hands clasped between them as they ran as much as they were able considering the younger Juliette was still heavily hampered by the stunning dress she was wearing.
Her loud whistle to gain the couple's attention has the younger hunter immediately on edge whilst the younger Juliette just seems curious as Cal the elder steps out under the haloed lighting of the closest streetlamp.
"I know what you're thinking." She starts off talking more towards her own younger self than Juliette's once she'd managed to coax them closer.
"And that is?"
Cal gives a half smile at the question "I'm not some mind trick I'm really you from a few years into the future."
"Why are you here?"
Cal almost cried at the lack of hostility in the softly asked question. For the last few days, all she'd seen was the crueler no-humanity Juliette she'd almost forgotten how sweet her legacy had been in the beginning.
"To save you." The elder hunter answered truthfully "but I'm going to need both of your help to do it."
"Why would Jules need saving in the future?"
"Look we don't have a lot of time before Sebastian shows up looking for you both not to mention a very pissed-off Carmen so for now let's hold off on the questions until we're somewhere safer."
"We're not going anywhe…."
"Alright."
Cal smiles at the show of trust her younger legacy provides.
"Where I left you isn't far from here a block or so really, but we'll need to hurry so we're not followed or caught altogether on the way there."
Yet what was waiting for them after finally reaching then having to break into the closed-up building they needed, was a newly drained but equally mutilated body of the building janitor trust up in a set of broken silver chains that should have held a more adult and pissed off version of Juliette Fairmont.
"Oh God." Cal the younger gaped already turning away from the horror movie-worthy sight complete with a flickering overhead lighting fixture only adding to the stomach-turning sight of the practically disemboweled man hanging before her eyes.
"Merciful Lilith." Juliette echoes also turning away from the sight seeking comfort in hiding her face against Cal's strong shoulder as her hunter's arms wrap reassuringly around her smaller frame.
"Dammit Jules, where the hell did you go this time?" Cal the elder huffed hardly sparing the dead man a glance as she looked around for even the smallest hint of a place to start her newest hunt for her once again elusive ex-girlfriend.
