Across the world astronomers discovered two objects creating massive heat signatures in orbit and moving at extreme speeds. As the two objects, larger than any ship ever made by humanity, let alone anything they've put into orbit, floated over their pale blue dot, the world wondered what their purpose was. Then 2 missiles charged into the sky, striking the ships with a fury 20 times stronger than any nuke ever made by humanity, as far as they knew. For the briefest of moments, 2 new stars blotted out the sky, filling the children of earth with fear, curiosity, rage and confusion. This was replaced with shock as when they thought that this new discovery was lost for eternity, the light subsided, revealing both objects intact, then the retaliation began.
On the objects, massive turrets moved and launched a great furry onto the surface of humanities home. A dozen glowing shots charged to the ground. On the site of the launches, a nuclear silo near a quiet Nevada town, all was eviscerated, turned to dust and slag by the scorching plasma.
The world would hold its breath as the ships did nothing but move closer to the surface. Then, explosions stretched across one of the mighty vessels, and it crashed into the other, both falling down to the planet in pieces. From within the hull of the shadow ship two objects moved to be picked up by a space shuttle frantically launched by NASA, not knowing the consequences of their actions.

Within the bay of the shuttle, the saboteurs celebrated their victory and their defense of earth. As this occurred, a message came from general Hammond.
"how's everything going sir" the joyous Jack O'Neill, asked his superior and friend. He did not expect the veteran general to grimace .
"we've got some problems, about 7 billion of them. We cannot hide this, the world knows, and they are not happy and are asking questions" Realization of what this means comes to them all. Greater than any other event in modern history, this day would shape humanity for the centuries to come. Whether it would lead to its prosperity or ruin, they did not know.
