Chapter: 5

While being dragged out of the hall Haru fought for her life until the arms that had dragged her let her go unwillingly. She ran down the corridor, hearing fast footsteps behind her. And the high heels didn't quite help the run away. While gasping for air she opened a wooden door and noticed that she now was running through a garden filled with roses, lilies, orchids.

The door didn't open as she had expected. Instead a figure jumped in front of her causing her to scream. The figure quickly closed her mouth with his hand and whispered into her ears.

"Haru, it's me."

"Baron?" Haru whispered back at him. She couldn't see him in the shadow of the tree but she heard his warm, soft voice. He led her through the trees to where the moonlight shone so that she could look at him properly. Not able to control her feeling she wrapped her hands around his neck, pulling her close in to him while laying her head on his chest. "Baron," she whispered at him, sighing.

He held her close into him.

But their moment ended abruptly. The wooden door into the garden opened and the Prince came out.

"Let's decide this fair, shall we." He said to Baron, drawing his sword while speaking.

"Yes, let us do that," Baron answered putting himself between Haru and Lune so that Haru was out the princes reach.

"The one who wins will get Haru and the one who looses will rot up in the dungeon of this castle."

"Fair enough," Baron answered, pulling out his wooden cane.

Haru backed away while the two was preparing to fight and saw Lune smug.

*****

Baron dodged Lune's first attempt on hitting him and then dodged the next. "Fight like a real cat!" Lune roared.

"With pleasure," Baron answered Lune and hit him several times with his cane. He hit Lune's wrist so that he wasn't able to hold the sword in his hand. Smirking, Baron made the final blow and Lune fell to the ground. Realising he had lost he admitted defeat.

Baron smiled and turned around to face Haru.

Haru's eyes were filled with tears once again. She ran and jumped into Baron's opened arms. He sighed and so did she.

While hugging Haru opened her eyes and saw Lune get back up on his feet and ran to attack Baron.

NO, Haru thought and without thinking she turned around, standing in between Baron and Lune.

"HARU!" Baron's voice seemed far away in her ears. Pain was flooding through her body and she fell to her knees.

She couldn't scream, she couldn't cry… and most of all she couldn't tell Baron how much she actually loved him.

Blackness covered her and the voices around her were barely there. Only teardrops that were falling on her face, she could feel.

Haru opened her eyes. She didn't know where she was, although everything seemed very familiar to her. She was inside a house; a very lovely house, with a chandelier hanging over a dining table. Rosa walls surrounded her and by the fire in the corner was a figure sitting with a book.

"Dad?" she asked with a hoarse voice, not even believing her eyes.

The figure looked up with a smile on his face. He put the book aside and walked towards her. He hugged her tightly and she remembered her old home. This home.

She hugged back with all her strength, afraid that he would disappear like he had always done in her dreams.

"Oh my, Haru" a deep voice said. "I had never expected to see you here so soon."

Haru looked up very confused. He smiled at her and continued, "it had been a long time since the incident, hasn't it?"

Haru nodded.

"You know, you could get back if you wanted to."

You just have to believe in yourself". Haru suddenly looked up at him.

Her father chuckled.

"You are correct, my dear Haru. I heard it from the same person you, yourself, have heard it from, a very intelligent young man – or cat if you will."

Haru smiled and hugged her father again.

"Have you decided?" he asked after a while.

She nodded. "I love Baron, I just realised."

"It took you long enough," her father answered with a grin. "Now believe."

Haru closed her eyes, chanting in her head 'I love you, Baron. I love you, Baron. I want to be with you, only you."

*****

Her eyes fluttered open. She found herself on a red couch and she could feel emerald-green eyes glaring at her. She looked at him. A shock was painted on his face. She smiled as if nothing had happened but then noticed the pain in her left side of the stomach. She looked and saw bandages wrapped around her. A huge red blood stain had covered most of the bandages but it seemed it had stopped.

Her hand was holding Baron's, who still sat there totally speechless before he very suddenly took his right hand and placed it on Haru's cheek in a too quick movement, and she could feel her heart thumping like crazy when he placed his lips on hers in a forceful yet gentle kiss; a longing kiss.

When he pulled away he whispered into Haru's ear, "I heard what you told your father. You spoke out pretty loud in your sleep," he chuckled into her ear, "Muta even teased me when I for the first time blushed."

Haru's cheeks felt hot and she figured that they were burning red too. It was the first time Baron had ever said something like that to her.

He looked her deep in the eyes and she saw that he was blushed hard too. She giggled but stopped when it hurt too much. His smile faded too and he hugged her carefully.

"Why did you do such a stupid thing like that? I was worried sick. Not only did I think you were dead but I wished that I had told you how much I love you, Haru".

"Why am I still there… I felt the ….. Sword…. going through … my body" she shuddered. It was a painful memory and she didn't want to dwell by that thought.

"Lune had dropped the swords as soon as it happened, he fled and no one have seen him since the incident. I got a healer form the castle to help you." He looked down. "You were almost completely covered with blood. It was so painful to watch." She noticed that he was on the edge of crying.

When the healer allowed me to see you, you started talking. You first whispered "dad" and then you didn't speak at all" Baron blushed very hard, still looking down.

"Then I heard you say that you love me and you only wanted to be with me."

Haru did indeed love him. And she knew why. She took her fingers and caressed his furry cheek. "I do love you. More than you can ever imagine."

"Then I don't think how long I have been waiting to kiss you like that." He looked at her making Haru blush. He took his left hand and grabbed her by her waist and his right hand was on the back of her head. He pushed her down on the couch, making Haru accidentally push the tray where the tea stood down. The teacup broke and made the kissing couple giggle and continued their moment.

A door creaked open and Muta and Toto's fights were clearly heard. But the loving couple didn't care. When Muta and Toto saw them, silent crept and they excused themselves blushing terribly.

But before Muta closed the door they could hear him laughing "Finally!"

Baron's grip tightened while Haru still giggled and kissed her even more passionately, and Haru's arms were in his fur on his neck. He would never ever let go of her. Never, he promised.
