I don't own Hetalia okay? I know this story has been a long one but I plan on wrapping it up here soon. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!
"That is always so much fun." Katyusha giggled. She had loved being the center of attention after having to put a lot of her own needs aside to make sure that her siblings grew up secure. And part of her knew that it also helped to show the public that she was Matthew's wife and that any of the other girls, and some guys from what Gilbert had told her he'd been told. As much as it didn't seem to be at first as he was just a local reporter, but the more she had gone out and run errands, took Charlotte to the doctor for her check ups, the more she realized people had realized that people knew Matthew and liked him. Some of the girls who said things like 'you're so lucky to have such a handsome husband,' made her feel insecure thinking that they were better looking than she was and that fame would go to Matthew's head. My family and his would go as Fredka says balastic if they found out that Matvey did treat me badly… She thought as she turned on a lamp by the door as to not cause too much light at once.
"Glad you like it….." Matthew whispered as he noticed Natalya sleeping on the couch, the television playing a game show. "Oh some of the late night stuff….." He turned off the television as Katyusha adjusted Natalya gently and put a blanket over her. "Charlotte seems to like game shows when it's late and I'm trying to get her to go to sleep again. Really laughs at the Family Feud buzzer….."
"I've noticed." Katyusha said as she smiled as he sister grabbed the blanket in her sleep and smiled. "She wears a scowl like a mask….very few people see her without it." She then kissed Matthew on the cheek. "I'll be back. I want to take a shower real quick before going to bed."
"Maybe I should join you?" Matthew smiled.
"Oh maybe….." She laughed.
"Do you mind?" Natalya said stirring from the couch.
"Oh, I am so sorry for waking you." Katyusha said embarrassed. "Did you see the show? Was Charlotte a good baby?"
"Yes, to both. She's asleep right now." Natalya said. "I did change her before bed, so she may need it again soon, I do not know."
"She might," Matthew said looking at his watch.
"I will change her if she wakes up and you need to shower." Natalya said. "I just hope you do not be too loud about it." Matthew and Katyusha looked away blushing. "I am not so naïve to believe that you two would not have sex. You are married after all. And as much as I do not like the thought of it, you do do it." She then pulled the blanket over he head again. "And I want to admit it even less with Vanya….."
"I know how you feel Natalya, I do not like knowing that Al found someone to get it on with every night as well, even if it is your brother…." Matthew said.
"Thanks for putting that image back in my head….." Natalya sighed as she turned and looked at the television hoping it would help her forget that idea and go back to sleep.
Toris woke up with a pounding headache. I can't believe I had let Feliks talk me into drinking that much on New Year's, I mean the new semester does start in less than 3 days anyway. Thank god that Natalya was away. He thought as he remembered all the times that Feliks had poured him champagne and tried to tell his fortune by the size of the bubbles. "Oooooooh big changes coming up…." He had said as Toris rolled his eyes.
"Well obviously," Toris said. "I am getting married come June."
"But I mean something else big too!" Feliks added. "You told me about how good she is doing at her job, you'll have you a hard working sugar mama who will get you a much better place than this! And have a few good looking kids too!"
"I already had that scare once this year, I do not need it again….." Toris said as Feliks looked on with a smirk. "What? It's not like I wouldn't mind children with Natalya but she would not even allow it until I finish medical school." Toris added. "She grew up in a tough childhood she swore she would never allow it to happen to a child she was responsible for." Toris sighed. "I mean, that's part of the reason she takes such a role with the twins."
"Yeah…." Feliks sighed. "That's good." He said as he poured himself a glass of vodka. "Dzięki! Do nowego roku!"
"Sveikinu! Iki naujųjų metų!" Toris repeated back in Lithuanian as he took. "I have to say that I like your vodka better than the one Natalya brings home. Don't tell her…."
"Hmmmmmmm…" Feliks smirked. "Maybe I should call her and tell her that you like Polish vodka better than Russian….."
Toris looked at him and rolled his eyes. "She would not get mad at the preference. However, but she would want to kill you for calling her when she is watching her infant niece at her sisters house for something so stupid and petty." At this Feliks blinked. He poured himself another shot.
"You're right." Feliks said. "You're always making smart decisions and I am the one going in over my head and just faking it until I make it."
Toris frowned. He did not want to see his best friend looking so down. "You have a lot to be proud of yourself. I mean it's not easy having such a following on Youtube, on getting that far in the military and having your own business. All of it is rather unorthodox and you're very good at it. I have seen some of the sketches that you had done for Natalya's wedding dress and it is beautiful."
"You really think so?" Feliks asked.
"Yes." Toris reassured him. "Naturally I will act like I had never seen it before in my life when the big day comes, but yes, you do good work."
"Thank you so much Torriboy!" Feliks said with a smile as he grabbed the bottle of vodka and took a long drink from it. At this he looked at his childhood friend and smiled. A thought he had for a long while before the call he had gotten saying that he was going to marry Natalya had come back to mind. He hadn't brought it up because Natalya was around most of the time and he didn't want to have her think that he was going to make a pass at 'her man' or anything like that. But under the influence of too much vodka and the new year, he sighed and pulled Toris to him and kissed him. "God, I have always wanted to do that…." Feliks said as he lay down. "Natalya is a very lucky woman. Just wish I had gotten ahold of you first before you came here and just said it…."
Toris blushed and looked away while Feliks began singing a song in Polish. He couldn't make out half the words as his own Polish was rusty and Feliks was drunk and slurring his speech. He had known that Feliks was pansexual, it had come up a few times while they were coming back from the airport, but to think that there had been some feelings he had for him, was something Toris didn't know how to take. He certainly was not going to tell Natalya about it and Feliks might not even remember it in the morning. However, he had never quite thought that Feliks would care for him beyond a friend. Maybe the history we had, the distance when we finished school, Toris wondered. He also is pretty drunk, I don't think he will remember in the morning. At this thought, Feliks got up, wobbled around and sighed. "Are you ready to go to sleep?" He asked.
"Pokaż mi drogę do domu. Jestem zmęczona i chcę iść do łóżka!" Feliks replied.
"Ah, so drunk that you've forgotten your English?" Toris laughed. Feliks nodded.
"Taip! Aš išgėriau savo anglų kalbą! Nunešk mane į lovą mano geriausią draugą ir brolį iš kitos mamos!" Feliks replied
"Gerai, nes aš tikrai nežinau, ką su tavimi dabar daryti. Tu visada esi mano geriausias draugas, kad ir kas nutiktų..." Toris said as he took Feliks by the shoulder and heard him burp.
"Good I am still your best friend even though you have no idea what to do with me." Feliks laughed with a slurred speech. Toris looked amazed. "I guess that burp brought back my both English and Lithuanian. Although I will admit this was not how I imaged you taking me to bed…. I've dreamed of you just laying me down and pounding me into the mattress while I was wearing a girls' prep school uniform…"
"Okay….." Toris said. "How honest of you." He rolled his eyes. He's drunk. Let it go. "Whatever, let's get you to bed so you can sleep this off. I need to as well. I am sure Natalya would not be too happy if I woke up with a hangover tomorrow."
"No, no she wouldn't." Feliks said as he sat on his bed and took off his shirt and pants and laid back on the bed in his underpants, a rosary across his chest and looked up at the ceiling. Toris knew that while Feliks himself was not very religious, that rosary he wore had always meant something to him as it had come from his grandmother. To him it was not a religious symbol but a beloved gift from a beloved family member. "Staring at my chest." Feliks said with drunken flirtatiousness. "Like what you see?"
"Still keep that rosary your grandmother gave huh?" Toris asked.
"Yep." Feliks smiled. "Babunia gave this to me when I turned 12, it was my grandfather's and she had wanted to pass it along. She was a good lady. Fuck whatever the rest of the people she went to church with said. Although I have to say it has helped save my butt when I was sent places when I was in the military."
"That's nice." Toris sighed as he pulled the covers back and tucked Feliks in. "Maybe you should get some rest."
"Yeah. I should. Night." Feliks said as he turned away from Toris and wrapped the blanket around him. At this Toris headed back to his bedroom and fell on the bed and went to sleep.
Now he squinted his eyes and looked around. It read 12:15 pm on the clock so he wasn't sure if Natalya had come home from babysitting Charlotte or not. He knew how to continue working on a headache, it had happened when he had stayed up late studying for some of his tests and for the semester finals, he was pretty certain he hardly slept until all was said and done and he got the results. Natalya had done all she could to relax him, even in bed with some things she normally did not when they were together, but while it helped a little, until the results came back. She had reassured him that he did fine, but he was still nervous. Then afterwards, keeping up with Feliks had drained him as well. Yes he was his best friend since childhood that he hardly saw since college but he had an energy that he had a hard time keeping up with sometimes. Sometimes it's easier keeping up with the twins. He thought as he got up and headed to the kitchen. At this, he saw Natalya reading one of her books for her upcoming semester and looked around. "Where's Feliks?" He asked.
"Not awake yet." Natalya said.
"When did you get back?" Toris moaned.
"A few hours ago." She said simply. "It was pretty easy. Worst part was trying to reassure my sister that Charlotte was fine under my care." Natalya said with a slight laugh. "Now I am nowhere near ready to be able to do that all the time. Far from it. I just knew that with what was going on with the twins, there was no way that big brother could watch her, so I offered to take care of her to make it easier on Katyusha." Putting a piece of paper in the book so she'd know where she left off, and headed to the kitchen to make Toris something to drink. She headed back from the kitchen and placed a glass down with tomato juice and celery sticking out of it. "There. Hair of the dog as they say. With a dash of proper Russian vodka as to that Polish crap you had last night." She added with a proud smirk.
He took the drink and sipped it down. She had put a little more wortischire sauce than he would normally have liked in it, but it still kind of helped. Smiling at her, she slid a bottle of orange Gatorade across the table as well. Toris looked at it confused and then back to her. "Because you need to rehydrate after a night like that."
"Just how did you know we drank a lot last night?" Toris asked.
"I saw the bottles strewn about and Feliks was still asleep. I would have thought he would be up and annoying me this late in the day, but guess not. Doesn't he have a video schedule to keep up with?" Natayla asked.
"Meh, while some of my audience will be annoying and begging me for an update, a quick short will get them off my back until I feel like it again." Feliks said coming out of the bedroom in a pink tank top and short grey shorts. He took the Bloody Mary that Toris had and took a deep drink of it. Natalya looked at him with a scolding look while Toris gave an exasperated sigh.
"I guess you can have that one." Natalya sighed. "I had stopped by the grocery store and picked up a few extra things knowing very well you two probably would have had a little too much fun. Toris looked away from Feliks, knowing just what he had confessed while intoxicated to him. Natalya did not seem to notice this, and just thought they had drank too much, and for this he was grateful. Natalya was a smart woman but at the same time, Toris knew deep down she was very insecure with herself, that her attitude was just her projection. He looked over to Feliks to see what he would say.
"Sorry..." He replied with a laugh. "Do you have an extra gatorade?"
"Yes." Natalya said as she had gotten back to making another one for Toris.
"Uggggh." Feliks said coughing on the vodka. "Can you make it with some of the stuff I got from Poland?" At this Natalya looked over with a death glare. "You know what, I think I will just enjoy your handiwork full of love for your man. I can taste it in this drink."
"Nice save." Toris whispered.
"So," Toris said looking around. "How has the twins taken to the game we got them? Did they get a chance to play it?"
"I haven't heard." Natalya said. "Katyusha did not know as she didn't ask about it. They had been so busy since they had left the hospital and had to get ready for the show. And then had me look after Charlotte."
Meanwhile, Alistor was sitting around and looking for a way to keep the child sized jewelery on his finger and the bracelet on his wrist. He had known that Toris and Natalya had given it to them but after spending some time out in the winter weather on the bikes, Ivan had brought them in to warm up. It was at this, that Nikita, wanting to play the game she had gotten for Christmas from her favorite aunt had offered for her and Dmitri to play it with Alistor. "Aggggh!" He sighed at the spin landing him on the black ring. "No matter what I can't win!" He said with an obviously fake and overly dramatic tone.
"Oh no!" Arthur said. "It looks like Nikita might win!" She spun the spinner and moved until she landed on the tiara space.
"Arrrgghhhh!" he heard from Alistor. "The wee lass has landed on the tiara space!"
"Princess Nikita!" Nikita said as she stood up and spun around and fell down on the couch. Ivan and Alfred looked over to make sure she had not hurt herself. "I'm fine Daddy! Papa!"
"That's good." Ivan said. "It's nice to see that you are getting along well."
"Pictures!" Alfred said as he took a few of the games, to add to the collections Ivan had taken while he was helping the twins get the hang of their new bikes. Ivan had sat beside Alistor and put on some of the purple jewelery as Nikita had said it had matched his eyes, to which Alfred had agreed with a wink, causing Ivan to wink back with a slight roll of his eyes. There was one thing that Alfred and Ivan had always had done on New Years that they could only do with each other. With Nikita in the hospital, they could not spend new years like they had in previous years. Even with Alfred's broken leg they had managed to make it work. But knowing the children were okay made things a lot easier. Francis looked over at Alfred and Ivan and smiled.
"How about this?" Francis said. "The twins do not have school again until the 5th. How about Alistor and your father and I take the twins to our house for the evening. Spend some time with their grandparents and grunkle before they have to go back to school."
"Can we?" Nikita asked.
"Please?" Dimitri asked.
"What do you think?" Alfred asked. "Think the kids can stand to spend some time with their gramps?"
"I do not see why not." Ivan said. "I am sure you know no shellfish nor peanuts, right?" Ivan said looking at Arthur, Alistor and Francis.
"Of course we would not dream of doing such a thing." Arthur said. "We just love spending time with our grandchildren."
"Of course." Francis said.
"Well I see nothing wrong." Ivan smiled. "Let's get you some changes of clothes and then you can have some fun with your grandparents."
"Yeay!" The twins said as they hugged Ivan's legs and ran to their rooms to get their clothes.
"I assure you two, the children will be fine." Arthur said.
"I know Dad." Alfred said.
"Besides, you two had quite the scare, and to keep a marriage going well, you need some time for each other." Arthur smiled. At this, Nikita and Dimitri came up and smiled at him. "Now, let's get going, and have some fun at grandpa's house."
"Yeay!" They said as they followed Arthur and Francis to their car.
"We will bring them back to you in one piece boys. Have you some fun." Alistor said.
"We will." Alfred smirked as they left and he turned to Ivan. "So, let me give you what I was going to..."
"Well, let's." Ivan smiled.
