(Part 6)
The shuttle from the stolen Romulan ship descended in a gentle arc down to the surface of 'Ubikaya'... It looked every bit of the old legend.
Fantastical cloud shapes... A few huge storms toward the distant far side of the planet, but no danger to the five on board. All was serene.
"Thank the Ancient Gods of Romulus... And of each of our old home worlds... This new world is indeed a great prize beyond any price!"
After making planet-fall, the captain was of course the first to step upon the surface. How fertile looking was the soil. How lush the
plants and trees... The distant mountains were quite tall and purple, with a frosting of snow in a very light bluish shade on top.
Yes, a Paradise it was indeed... And it was theirs to colonize. For though there were legends, no humanoids were known to have
settled on this fabled orb. Only one or two ancient exploratory ships ever made it back thru Angels Gate in fact. It was... So Far!
Suddenly, a sound from the thick wooded forest nearby. Maybe some local wildlife? The Klingons could enjoy a hunt. Fresh meat!
But instead of some animal... A flying machine... Some type of automated robot defense system... Flew fast in their direction.
"Do not fire!" the Romulan captain quickly ordered to the two guards, who had already raised up their disruptor pistols.
The flying robot then stopped about five paces from the captain, the two Orion scientists, and two guardian sentry officers.
A voice now came out of the robot... From two small speakers on its mostly round surface/shape. It sounded... Human!
"Why are you on my planet? Leave at once... This will be your only warning! If you want to live, take your leave... Now!"
Suddenly the flying robot shot a bright violet beam of energy down on the ground, just a few paces from the captain.
He spoke in reply: "Whoever you are... We have voyaged so very far to explore this new world. We come in Peace..."
The controller of the flying robot had left violence behind... He did not wish to 'Kill'. He'd seen so much... On Earth.
"Leave immediately... Or the robot will kill you where you stand, if you do not leave this world... My World... GO!"
###
The Enterprise, and a restored-to-function Thresher now headed on toward the violet star of the Ancient Legend.
And the promised Eternal Planet said to circle that far away star: 'Ubikaya'. If it was there, they would soon find it!
