Chapter 32: Confrontation
"Hikari! Wake up Hikari!"
Hikari snapped awake, Keyblade at the ready.
"It's alright...We are safe." Shin's voice dropped the tension in Hikari's shoulders. Willing the Keyblade away she rose with her friends and gazed at the new surroundings.
"Whoa..."
The stench of decay permeated the air, destruction and death everywhere. The barren wasteland was cold and silent…In the center of this dismaland sat a most intriguing yet beautiful site…Like a beacon of hope it shone, willing the darkness away.
A shining crystal palace.
Shin frowned. "Something very bad happened here…Be ready…"
Max and Hikari did not need to be told twice. They willed their weapons forward and the trio ever so lightly purged forward, keeping all shadows within their sights.
"Man…" Max didn't like this atmosphere one bit. "These poor people…" He shook. "Let's just find the key and get out of here...This place gives me the creeps. Where exactly are we going anyway?"
"Where else?" Hikari pointed to the crystal building. "It's the only place that feels...safe…Yeah…" She was sure of it. "We need to go to that crystal building."
Not a creature stirred on their journey to the crystal palace. Ever closer they came, it was realized the beacon was larger than expected. Reaching it, the crystal palace was certainly breathtaking in the sea of death and destruction.
Something was calling Hikari there, into the palace itself. Why no one greeted or attacked them was an absolute mystery. Someone had to be guarding this place, but who? Stepping into the magnificent structure, a wave of calm wrapped the trio in its loving embrace.
"Whoa…It's even better inside…" Max was in awe by the grandness within the crystal palace. "There's nothing like this back home…"
"It has a…warmth to it…" Hikari was sure. "Yeah…Almost like a hug…"
The sense was overwhelming, the sense of calmness. Everything was going to be okay, that was their thought process as they ventured further into the palace.
"Come no further, strangers."
A voice stopped them and a hologram of an elegant man appeared before them. His violet ropes and his nature was certainly regal.
"Who are you, and why have you come to our kingdom?" The man held no suspicion in his voice, mere curiosity was there. Did he know they were not enemies?
"What…happened here?" Hikari asked her own question and the man frowned.
"It is…a long story…" He told them. "However, do not lose hope, Sailor Moon will defeat this darkness."
"Sailor…Who…?" That was the most idiotic name for a super hero…Max was sure it was a super hero.
The man smiled. "Sailor Moon…The beacon of hope itself…" His cape swayed in an unnatural wind. "Come this way…You will be safer near her."
"Near who, Sailor Moon?" Hikari and the man chuckled.
"…In a way, yes…" He stated.
They followed the hologram down a corridor that led to an expansive room. There, upon a small dais, was a crystal coffin. There, inside, was a most beautiful woman with long blonde hair and a crown atop her head.
"Neo-Queen Serenity…" The holographic man spoke the name as if he were saying the name of his lover. Even eyes which stared upon the coffin spoke of pure love towards the sleeping woman. "Though she sleeps, her spirit is strong."
"You're wife…Right?" Hikari asked him, and the man nodded.
"You three are certainly not from here…" He regarded them cooly. "However, I know you are not here for harm otherwise the sensors here would stop your progress through the palace." Once again, his eyes set upon the slumbering woman. "Something terrible happened here and only Sailor Moon can save us."
Frowning, Hikari approached the crystal coffin. Though it seemed rude to do, she had the tendency to touch the jagged surface that protected the sleeping queen.
Hikari frowned. "You guys…"
"What is, Hikari?" Shin asked her.
"This…lady…" She could feel deep within…Quickly she jumped away, brandished the Keyblade.
Something…was wrong…
Her suspicions were correct when the coffin burst into tiny specks. The holographic man stood frozen as the woman rose from her own grave, standing on her own elegant feet.
Eyes opened, yet Hikari had a feeling they should be blue…Instead…A darkness was there, confirmed by a small smirk upon pink lips.
"My…This is a much better form…" Though it was the woman's voice, Hikari was certain it wasn't her…
It was the entity…The soul that had been rejected by the body Hikari possessed.
"Hello, murder…" The being inside the woman grinned. "I believe this is a perfect place for your grave…"
"What…What is going on?" The holographic man shouted.
"Calm yourself dear…" An elegant hand waved and the man disappeared. "Who cares about a Keyblade anymore…This body…Feels so…wonderful! Tell me, murderer…Is THIS what it feels like to be a princess of light? No…I do believe I am a queen now…" The being stared at Hikari.
"Time for your judgement, murderer…" The being spoke through the woman.
"I'm not a murderer." Hikari stared down the possessed woman. "I've driven you out before and I'll do it again!"
She jumped high, ready to give a blow to her enemy….when her weapon was caught by an elegant hand.
"Not today, little light….Today…YOU will receive your punishment." The possessed woman stated. "If I cannot have that which is rightfully mine, well then I'll just destroy you and stay here…Either way this is your last stop Keybearer. I will make sure you will NEVER see them again…No family, no friends…You'll have just as I was given…NOTHING!"
Within the possessed queen's hand came a sphere-like jewel.
"Say goodbye to everything you've ever known…I…the new Neo-Queen…Banish you, Hikari…to the ABYSS!"
Hikari's world was bathed in dark light.
