Dagobah
From the back seat of the two seated X-Wing, Willow watched curiously as Luke landed the ship on Dagobah. Willow looked around curiously, seeing the swap like landscape of the planet.
So this was where Luke had learned how to be a Jedi. Well, considering she'd spent all of high school on a Hellmouth, Willow really wasn't in any position to judge.
Luke opened the hatch and Willow looked around, barely able to see through the thick fog. One of Willow's hands absentmindedly pulled at the cuffs of the orange flight suit that had been given to her as Luke pulled off his helmet.
"You all right?" Luke asked her as he looked over his shoulder.
"I don't know. This place just feels…" Willow trailed off but Luke nodded in understanding.
"I know what you mean; I felt the same way when I first came here. But it's just a planet, same as any other," Luke assured her.
Willow looked at him skeptically before pulling off her own helmet; absently reaching back to make sure her hair was still tied back before they climbed down the ladder.
"R2, why don't you stay here and we'll-"
Luke was cut off by the sound of the X-Wing rocking. They looked back to see R2 had already jettisoned himself out of the socket and was now following after them.
"Or if you'd rather, you can come along," Luke said dryly as Willow smiled slightly.
"You have a loyal droid," Willow commented, patting his domed head as R2 beeped at her.
"Sometimes too loyal for his own good. Here, let me give you a hand," Luke said, using The Force to lower R2 down beside them. "There you go."
Willow took a moment to look around again, now able to see a bit better, as the fog was lifting up a bit. It was still a swamp, but now she could see trees and some animals in the distance. It felt like one of those places where alligators would pop out and eat some poor, unsuspecting creature.
Willow's hair suddenly stood on end. She whirled around, trying to figure out what had suddenly caused her such dread. Her eyes flickered to a cave a few feet away.
"Willow?" Luke called out before he saw what she was staring at.
"That cave…" Willow trailed off uncertainly, not sure how to describe it.
"It's strong with the Dark Side," Luke said softly, his eyes faraway as if remembering something. "Come on. Yoda's hut is this way."
Willow stared at the cave for a moment longer before turning and following Luke as they began to walk in the direction of Yoda's hut.
"What are you hoping to find anyway?" Willow inquired.
"I'm hoping Yoda might have left something behind that could help me learn, understand more about being a Jedi. And that it might help me figure out a way to better teach you and whatever other Jedi I might train," Luke explained.
Personally, Willow thought this was a little farfetched, but she wasn't going to tell him that. So the two of them walked for a minute, R2 trailing behind them until they came upon a mass of Vegetation. Judging from the startled look upon Luke's face, she quickly realized this had once been Yoda's home.
"Luke?" Willow called out gently.
"I thought…" Luke trailed off.
"We have to cut grass where I'm from; otherwise it grows out and takes over. I guess the same thing applies here. But no harm done," Willow said softly.
Luke looked at her curiously as Willow waved a hard. Soon enough, the vegetation surrounding the hut vanished, revealing Yoda's hut as it was, if a little worse for wear.
"If you want to take a look, you still can," Willow said gently and Luke smiled.
"Thank you Willow," Luke said gratefully.
The pair headed inside the hut. Although the outside was now free of veins and the like, the inside was still covered with it. The pots that Yoda had made his food with were covered with moss.
"I can try and clear it up," Willow offered but Luke sighed.
"It's fine Willow. I don't think we're going to find what we're looking for," Luke said miserably before a thought occurred to him. "R2, see if you can find anything electronic around her, will you? I never saw him use anything like that but…"
The droid raised his sensor plate, whirling back and forth as Luke and Willow watched. Suddenly, it stopped.
"Find anything?" Luke asked hopefully.
R2 beeped excitedly before rolling out of the hut, beeping at them insistently.
"I guess he wants us to follow him," Willow noted and Luke chuckled.
"Alright, we're coming," Luke told him.
R2 led them back towards the X-Wing, to their surprise.
"So we came all the way back here for the ship?" Willow questioned.
R2 beeped at her almost angrily, turning his domed head a little to the left. Willow followed his gaze, seeing R2 was pointed towards the cave.
"You're sure whatever you're picking up is in there?" Luke asked uneasily and R2 beeped at him.
"He seems sure to me," Willow said although she wasn't any happier about it than Luke.
That cave gave her a bad feeling that she couldn't explain.
"Stay here you two. I'll be back as soon as I can," Luke ordered.
"Hey," Willow said and he turned to her. "I didn't come all this way to wait on you. If there's something that can help you in there, I'm going with you."
"Willow, this isn't an ordinary cave. It plays tricks on you, makes you face thing about yourself you don't even know you have to face," Luke tried to explain.
"I've faced worse than whatever this cave can do to me," Willow said firmly and Luke sighed heavily.
"Okay, but stick close to me," Luke ordered.
Willow nodded before the pair entered the cave. Willow looked around in disgust at the terrible smell that came from it. So far though, it was just an ordinary cave.
"So what do you think we're supposed to be looking for?" Willow asked Luke.
Not receiving an answer, Willow turned her head, stunned to find Luke was gone.
"Luke? Luke!" Willow called out but received no answer.
Remembering what Luke had said about the cave, Willow walked a bit further into it, hoping she'd find Luke again. As she walked, she thought she saw someone standing further ahead but she couldn't make out who in the darkness of the cave.
"Luke? Luke is that you?" Willow called out.
"Guess again."
Willow's blood ran cold as the figure stepped into view. It was her, back after Tara had died. Dark Willow as Xander had called her. Dressed head to toe in black, her hair matching with dark veins covering her face.
"How – this is the cave. This is a trick," Willow realized.
"This may be the cave, but that doesn't mean I'm not real," Dark Willow said with an evil smile. "What are you even doing here?"
"You know what. I'm trying to save magic," Willow pointed out.
"For what? You know they'll never trust you. You'll always be the girl who went nuts and tried to destroy the world to them," Dark Willow taunted her.
"That's not true," Willow denied although she couldn't help the sliver of doubt she felt creep up on her.
"Yes it is. You're a ticking bomb in their eyes, just waiting to go off. You think they haven't prepared for the day that you turn back into me? They will never trust you again," Dark Willow taunted her.
"Even if that's true, I trust me. I know I will never turn into you again," Willow said firmly.
"You may wish that, wish for my power, my strength with what's to come," Dark Willow taunted her and Willow looked at her warily.
"That a threat?" Willow asked and her darker self-laughed cruelly.
"No, it's simply a warning," Dark Willow said as she walked over to Willow. "See it all. See what will come."
Willow suddenly grabbed her head, feeling a splitting pain before she saw and heard things she really didn't understand.
Andrew stood in front of Angel with an army of Slayers, telling him Buffy didn't trust him anymore.
Cordelia was lying in bed before she gasped, waking up as she had a vision.
Angel fought a man with tattoos before the tattoos vanished and the man was sucked into a portal.
Angel and Cordelia kissed before Angel got a phone call. Angel answered it, becoming devastated as he was informed of Cordelia's death. He put down the phone, looking around the now empty room brokenly.
"Thank you."
Fred was examining a coffin when it opened up, seeming to shoot a mist out at her.
Fred was on the stairs with Wesley and Lorne before coughing up a mouth full of blood and collapsing into Wesley's arms.
Fred thrashed in a bed before standing up as Wesley watched in horror, her skin and hair turning blue.
"This'll do."
Wesley fought Vail before Vail stabbed him with a knife and he died in Fred's arms.
Angel, the blue Fred, a wounded Gunn and, to Willow's surprise, Spike stood against an army of demons as they approached.
"Let's go to work," Angel said before swinging his battle axe.
Willow fell to her knees, breathing heavily as she tried to process what she had just seen.
"W-what was that?" Willow stammered, overwhelmed.
"The future. The future of your friends. They are all going to die and there is nothing you can do about it. Just like with Tara," Dark Willow said with a cruel laugh.
"NO!"
Willow raised her hands and lightning shot out of them, striking Dark Willow, who promptly vanished. Willow breathed heavily, staring shaken at the spot where her darker self had been moments earlier before she felt a hand on her shoulder. Willow whirled around but it was only Luke.
"Willow? Are you alright?" Luke asked in concern.
"I-I saw…" Willow trailed off breathlessly, unsure what she had seen.
"Like I said, the cave plays tricks on you," Luke said softly, remembering his vision of Vader his first time in.
"Did you…see anything?" Willow trailed off uncertainly.
Luke was silent, remembering his own vision he had just experience, although its meaning was a mystery to him.
Luke was back on Tatooine, about to be pushed into the Great Pit of Carkoon. It played out like it had before, R2 shooting his lightsaber at him. Only, inside of going to Luke's hands, it sailed towards the other end of the vehicle. Despite Luke's frantic attempts to pull it towards him, his lightsaber landed in the hands of a red haired woman. She laughed cruelly before Luke was pushed into the pit.
"Just ghosts," Luke said after a few moments before activating his Comms. "R2, are you still picking up that electronic signal?" R2 gave an affirmative beep. "Is still ahead of us?" R2 gave another affirmative beep. "Okay."
Silently, Luke and Willow continued walking, both waiting for more visions that never came. After what felt like forever, R2 told them they had found it.
Willow watched curiously as Luke pulled the device from the ground, dusting it off as best he could. Best Willow could tell, it was some kind of cylinder with some rusted over keys on one side and some kind of alien language engraved on the other.
"Any idea what that is?" Willow asked curiously.
"None whatsoever," Luke said with a sigh. "Maybe R2 will though. Come on, let's get out of here."
R2, as it turned out, did not know what the device was. Although he did have some surprising Intel about it.
"Lando?" Luke asked in surprise as he read the translation.
"Who's Lando?" Willow asked confused.
"He's a friend. According to R2, Lando gave something like this to a general in the Rebellion. Was he giving it to him or just showing it to him?" Luke asked and read the translation as R2 beeped. "That's okay; I imagine you were busy at the time."
"So do we just go back to Coruscant now?" Willow asked curiously as the Swamp planet grew smaller behind them from the X-Wing and Luke was silent for a moment.
"No," Luke finally said, a decisive tone entering his voice. "We're going to the Athega system. Hopefully, Lando can tell us what this thing is."
And now we're off to see Lando.
Hope you enjoyed Willow's vision in the cave. Boy will she have a lot to process.
