Hey everyone!

Better late than never, right? I'd meant to update last week but, as usual, life likes to keep throwing things at me and I forgot about updating. I'm surviving and slowly starting to get back into things again. I'm starting to remember why I love writing. I'm feeling closer to being able to update twice a month then I have done for a fair few months so that is something.

Thanks for sticking with me.

Lots of love,

Breaking Traditions-Part 59:

Druella had still been rooted in the chair when Narcissa had walked back into the nursery, surprising Druella.

"No Rosalie?" she asked as she looked at her daughter.

"I took her to the grandparents that adore her as I don't want her around you," Narcissa said as she sat down in the same chair that she had been occupying earlier," she said, "she doesn't need to be around someone who doesn't love her," she said.

"Surely you can see how ridiculous this whole thing has been…?" Druella said as she looked at her daughter and watched her, "this should never have been allowed to go through."

"And, yet, mother I thought you would have understood my longing having failed to give father the son and heir that he had longed for. Priscilla understood as she was unable to give Abraxas a daughter as well. That is why she has supported this from the start. I thought you would have understood my longing and heartache for a daughter and been happy that I was going to achieve that. Guess I was wrong."

Druella sighed. She could see her daughter's point-of-view of the whole thing yet, at the same time, she was being stubborn and sticking to her side of the line. She debated telling Narcissa what Draco had said to her and bit her lip.

"Draco said that he didn't want to know me if I didn't love Rosalie or want anything to do with me. I thought I raised you to treat your elders with respect…"

"Draco adores and loves his baby sister more than his owl and the horses," Narcissa said, "I'm not surprised he said that to you at all. I also taught him to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves," she said as she looked at her mother.

A knock on the door interrupted the two of them and Narcissa turned to see Priscilla with Rosalie.

"She wants you today it seems," Priscilla said and Narcissa got up and took Rosalie in her arms before kissing her mother-in-law's cheek before going to sit back down with Rosalie in the chair.

Druella watched as Narcissa bounced Rosalie on her lap to keep the baby happy and settled. She looked at Rosalie, seeing her face for the first time. The happy little chubby face that she'd seen Narcissa have as a baby and she sighed.

"You should take note of Draco's words," Narcissa said, "my son doesn't like to give threats for no reason at all," she said, "he's also protective of his sister. That I am sure you know already."

"I was raised a different way Narcissa," Druella said, "that you know because it was the same way I raised you and your sister Bellatrix," she said, "it is not as easy for me to change what was instilled in me in a very young age."

Druella kept her eyes on Rosalie and watched the baby as Narcissa bounced her softly, making her giggle and clap her hands.

"You do realise that times have changed and you need to accept that Rosalie is here to stay. She is mine and Lucius' daughter and we are not sending her anywhere because you're being rather stubborn. I can understand that your were raised a certain way and raised me and my sisters, yes sisters, in that way but times have changed and moved on and that is something you need to accept," Narcissa said as she looked at her mother, "most people were supportive of us… despite your attempt to sabotage it all."

Silence fell in the nursery… except for Rosalie shaking her rattle as sat on Narcissa's lap still.

"You can either accept times are changing or stay stuck in the past and lose out on the granddaughter that you have wanted for as long as you wished you could have given father a son," Narcissa said after she'd allowed a decent amount of time to pass by of relative silence.

She's done that so she could force her mother to think about the choices that she was making and how much she was missing out on things… especially where Rosalie was concerned. She didn't know, however, if it would work but she wanted to try and see how her mother would react with it being just the two of them. She hoped that it would work out well but she wasn't sure as her mother would change her ways in a hurry.

Druella sighed as she looked at her daughter.

"I know what you are saying," Druella said as she watched Narcissa, "I do understand that. You're in the same situation that I was. The only difference is that you were able to chase your dreams and I wasn't… I didn't have the courage to either," she said and Narcissa nodded softly.

"That is a difference and I waited this long because I didn't want to disappoint you but Draco made me realise that my happiness is more important than pleasing you. I should care but any parent would want their child happy than miserable," she said as she looked at her mother, "you were always saying that to me as a child and now I'm an adult… you don't think that matters anymore? Is that what you're saying?"

"That is not what I'm saying at all," Druella said, "I raised you the correct way…"

"Which I will now raise Rosalie that way as well. Nothing changes in reality," Narcissa said as she looked at her mother, "I will still value tradition. Rosalie was adopted from an orphanage which was home to pureblood babies. We did it that way so it wouldn't be an issue," she said as she looked down at Rosalie giggled softly.

"It would just be far easier for you to accept her than not," Narcissa said, "but only you can make that decision for yourself but it really would just make everyone's lives easier if you could just accept and make an effort to accept things and get to know Rosalie as the baby was around to stay and everything was in Druella's hands and only she could change that.
