Suigetsu had watched and turned a blind to Orochimaru's dealing for years. He was tired of it, especially if it meant there was a possibility he would go under with the crooked man. Picking the lock to Orochimaru's office he looks blindly for a Hebi account file. Picking one of the locked drawers on Orochimaru's desk Sui opens a file titled Hebi.

Once he pulls out the file he hears footsteps on the linoleum tile that line the hallways of Sarutobi Ad. Sui shuts the drawer quietly and from where he hears the footsteps they seem to have walked in the opposite direction of Orochimaru's office. Regardless, he had to leave now.

Sui quickly takes pictures of the corrupt documents with his phone and places the folder back into the drawer, exiting Orochimaru's office and closing the door carefully. Suigetsu takes the long way out of the office, looking around the premises to see who had come in. His search proves fruitless after he has done a lap around the seemingly empty office space. Once he leaves out the main doors he waits by the elevators, when a shaft opens to Suigetsu, Orochimaru is on the inside of one getting off on that floor. Orochimaru never gives away a lot with his expressions but Suigetsu can see apparent shock when he sees him. Orochimaru correcting his expression quickly and gets off, not saying a word to Suigetsu.

Sui hops into the elevator and rides down to the parking garage, enters his car and locks all the doors before he texts Sasuke the pictures he had gotten.

|Suigetsu: attached. That job better come with an office. Ran into Orochimaru on my way out. Also took a flash drive out of the locked drawer I found the file in.

Suigetsu pulls out of the parking garage and starts driving back to his apartment in the city. He checks behind him and sees the same black sedan following him. The car follows him down the side streets he takes.

He was being followed and decided to dial up Sasuke.

"I'm being followed." Suigetsu says into the receiver once he hears the phone has been picked up.

"What?"

"You heard me. I'm driving to your house, call the police and tell them to wait down your street. I'll be there in five."

"Sui—"

The light haired ends the call and drives towards Sasuke's house, hoping Sasuke would have gotten ahold of the police in time. Right as Suigetsu turns down Sasuke's street one of his tires pops.

"Shit."

He pushes the gas a little harder in hopes to still make it to Sasuke's.

The black car gets on his tail, Sui can't make out a lot because of the tinted windows of the dark car.

He finally pulls up and parks the car, quickly exiting his busted vehicle and races up to Sasuke's doorstep.

"Suigetsu." He turns when he hears the voice of the driver of the dark vehicle.

Orochimaru.

Sasuke did not expect any of this mess to get to this level of danger. He had the proof now after looking over the pictures Suigetsu had sent. It was around nine in the evening when Sui had called saying he was being followed. Sasuke had gone out to the kitchen where Sakura had been making tea for the two of them.

Sasuke had wild eyes as he talked into the phone with law enforcement. Once he has the confirmation of dispatch he ushers Sakura into a bathroom with no windows.

"Sakura, the police are on their way. I need you to stay in the bathroom until I come and get you."

"What the fuck is happening Sasuke?"

Sasuke can hear from the front of the house a sound similar to a tire popping.

He runs out of the bathroom to the front door.

Sasuke walks out onto his porch, looking at his driveway and comes upon the scene of Suigetsu with his hands up and Orochimaru pointing a handgun at him a few feet away. Orochimaru looks away from Sui to Sasuke's glare and gives a sickly smile.

"Inside, both of you."

Suigetsu and Sasuke back into the house, while Orochimaru points a gun at them. The suburban neighborhood is quiet at this time of night. Sasuke sees the bathroom door open that he had closed. Sakura had gotten out.

Fuck.

"Sit." Orochimaru points the gun to the couch and motions for the two men to sit.

"Where is Tsunade's runt?"

Suigetsu shoots Sasuke a sideways glance.

"Not home tonight." Sasuke hopes he will believe him and that Sakura will remain quiet.

Where were the police?!

Orochimaru looks past Sasuke into the rest of his home to deduce if he is telling the truth. He must deem his response acceptable as his glare moves back to the two on the couch.

"Now I know you have some unsavory information on an account at Sarutobi Ad. Seeing that those files are Sarutobi Ad's property you would do well to give them back to me."

"No idea what you are talking about." Suigetsu answers rather boldly for having a gun pointed at him.

"Hm. That's a shame." The slithery man backs away from the two on the couch, still aiming the gun in their direction as he walks around. Looking for any suspicious files or papers on counters, and opening drawers. Once Orochimaru starts making his way to the hallway where Sakura is undoubtedly, Sasuke starts feeling his leg bounce.

His old mentor doesn't miss this.

"Jittery Sas—?"

Before the slimy man could finish his question Sakura had snuck down the hallway at some point and whacked Orochimaru in the back of the head with an old bat from Sasuke's bedroom closet. He had forgotten about it until he saw it whack his old mentor just now by his girlfriend.

Orochimaru falls to the floor unconscious. Sakura is visibly shaking when Sasuke approaches her and takes the bat from her grip, placing it on the hardwood floor. Suigetsu is still near the couch and looking out the window.

"Oi! Police finally showed up!" Suigetsu calls out to the two in the hall. Sasuke and Sakura emerge and help answer questions the police have about the situation. An ambulance is called to the scene taking Orochimaru away under police authority to ensure he didn't sustain any serious head injuries.

After Sasuke, Suigetsu, and Sakura finish up their report at the police station they part ways with Suigetsu once again ensuring a position with U&U and Sasuke once again confirming.

Sasuke and Sakura sit in his car silently as they drive back to his house. Once they are parked in his driveway she breaks the stifling quietude.

"I can't do this anymore." Sasuke watches as she trembles, tears visibly falling into her lap.

"Do what?" Sasuke asks, fear settling in his gut.

"I don't want to be here in Konoha anymore. I want to get away from this life, start fresh. Somewhere where we are safe, somewhere where we can build a happy and healthy life."

"You want me with you?"

Sakura at this point looks up into his gaze.

"Of course. Would you come with me?"

Tears unwillingly emerge from his eyes. Everything Sakura had given him, everything Itachi had provided him, everything he had worked towards and healed within himself, had led him here.

The woman he wanted to make a life with. A life he wants to lead, one that he can be proud of. Sasuke moves across the center console of his car and reaches out for her, embracing her tightly. He can feel her tears soaking his shirt and his seeping into her sweater.

"I want nothing more than to be by your side. If you'll have me."

Sasuke feels her nod yes into his shirt.

Three months later Sasuke says his goodbyes to everyone at U&U. Orochimaru and Kabuto have been arrested and charged. They still were awaiting their trials for assault and embezzling thousands of company funds. No matter the outcome they would be behind bars for decades.

His last day at U&U was a success and his one way plane ticket to Suna is booked for the following morning. Sasuke currently finds himself at dinner with his oldest friend Naruto in a familiar restaurant.

"Why are you sniffling idiot?"

"I'm gonna miss you, ya know?"

"Your boyfriend practically lives in Suna, we will still see each other plenty."

"Yeah, but not everyday like-like at work. And hey, that's fiancé now!"

"Congrats again."

"Thanks." Naruto takes a serious tone after taking a sip of the water provided to them.

"I'm proud of you, and I'm happy you are finally living."

Sasuke nods, one of his signature soft nods as a thank you.

"Thanks for looking out for me."

"Always man. Oh! Can I crash at your new digs in a couple weeks?"

Sasuke shakes his head and smirks, Naruto would always be an idiot.

Sasuke's flight lands and he takes a taxi to the resort he and Sakura had traveled to months prior. Where they had first kissed and were first truly honest with themselves.

The hot desert air is strangely welcoming as he enters the lavish resort, being greeted at the concierge by the owner.

"Here's your badge to get into your new office. All set to start tomorrow still?"

"I'll be here. Thank you again for the opportunity."

"Your work speaks for itself. See you tomorrow!"

"Ah."

Sasuke leaves the resort, his new badge secured, and chooses to walk the short distance from his new job to his new apartment. His suitcase rolls behind him as he takes in all the shops, and restaurants along the way.

The elevator takes him to his floor and he knocks on apartment seven.

The door opens and Sakura flings herself onto him, she stands on her tiptoes and plants a kiss on his lips.

"Welcome home!"

"Ah. I'm home." Sasuke rolls his suitcase into the small entryway of their new home. He is able to see the small tomato plant they had planted on his last visit, budding on their balcony.

"How was work today?" He asks, loosening his tie.

"It was great! The kids at the clinic make new strides everyday. Shizune says a few new patients are coming in next week and she wants me to take charge of their care plan."

Sakura had found a job at a children's occupational therapy clinic in Suna a couple months ago. Her old mentor Tsunade helped line her up with a connection. She had wanted a stable job and she always enjoyed working with children. When she heard of the open position she applied, interviewed over the phone and started as soon as the contract was signed.

Sasuke had helped her set up the apartment they would share once he had finished up his work at U&U and tied his loose ends up in Konoha. The house had sold quickly, and U&U was very understanding of his choice. He had no trouble finding an accounting job out in Suna, and was lucky one had been open at the resort they had stayed at months ago.

For the first time in his life, Sasuke felt whole. He felt loved and confident in himself. He had found himself and his happiness, thanks to Sakura.
