Last time, Pain and the Akasuki were transported to a new realm filled with monsters and cities unrecognizable to them. Burning the evidence of their previous bounty, they made their way to City Z for refuge.
AND NOW...
Up on a hill near his laboratory, there was an explosion that rocked his lab's foundation. Child Emporer ever the curious kid, looked out his window at the forest fire up the hill and wondered what was going on. So deciding to take a break from his newest project, he stepped outside with his backpack and started to walk up the forested hillside. It took him a little less than an hour of leisurely hiking to make it to the spot of the explosion which by this time had already been taken care of by firefighters and police who were still walking around the area.
What stood out to him was a large cave that wasn't there when he made his new scans of the area a few months ago and judging by the police tape, the fire originated from there. Walking up to the tape, he was stopped by a young police man who blocked his path.
"Halt kid, this is a crime scene here," which made him raise a brow, "Where are your parent's kid?"
"Im, S-Rank hero Child Emporer, I was in my lab when I heard the explosion, I ask to be let in to examine the crime scene."
The young cop sweat nervously saying, "C-child Emporer, yes of course right this way," he panicked moving the yellow tape so he could walk on into the crime scene.
"Humph, Adults," he muttered annoyed. Getting a closer look, the surrounding area was scorched by flames with the entrance of the cave being blocked by a large mound of what looked like large lion bones. However, most of the police were focused on a human corpse lying in the center of the cave, but he was blocked by an older gray haired gentleman he knew as the chief of police of City-Y.
"Ah Child Emporer, I was wondering when you'd show up." smirked the chief as he stopped chewing the gum he had in his mouth.
"Yo chief, what's the situation here?" asked C.K casually. He worked with the chief on plenty of missions and investigations before this one so they were quite acquainted with each other.
"Well... this whole thing is downright strange."
"How so?"
"Well, as you probably know this whole giant cave wasn't even here before, and it doesn't look like some big monster made it with how there's no tracks. The next is over here," pointing to the corpse. It was like the body was made out of some sort of stone, with the man's skin minus his eyes still remaining but having cracks along every part. "Were wondering why this kid would be all the way up here with a giant gourd of sand in cave that only showed up today."
"It's very strange," C.K muttered under his breath. He couldn't put his finger on it, but this situation sent shivers up his spine, and it wasn't just the corpse.
Something was wrong, he could feel it.
"Chief."
"Yeah kid?"
"What gum you chewing?"
"Just some mint, chew chew, want some?"
"Yeah, pass me 10 sticks if you don't mind. I'm in this case interested now." Giving the chief a serious look.
Deidara open the door to be greeted by the Akatsuki sitting down in a semi circle waiting for his arrival.
"So, was my assumption correct?" asked the leader gazing at the blond with his purple orbs glowing in the dark.
"Humph, you sure were boss-" remarked Deidara taking off his sunglasses to see in the dark room, "- it was only those two in this whole building. Although, I have to ask, why did we decide to move next door, couldn't we have picked the top floor instead?"
Leader waved him off at this stating, "You are correct in that assessment, however with this room we could observe them much better. I am curious as to why they are the only ones in this whole building, from what I sensed they seemed off from the people I sensed nearby. But with that,"
Pain moved both his index and middle finger out in a cross uttering, "{Shadow Clone Jutsu!}", making an identical clone of the leader. "You," said pointing to his clone, "Go forth and find an unsuspecting person and acquire information, and do not draw attention to yourself" ordered Pain to himself who nodded to the order opening and closing the balcony door and leaping off to search for someone.
"Sigh, now then," Pain looked at all 8 of his members individually, "while we wait for more information to come in, do any of you have any grievances you would like to tell me?"
"I would like to go first if you don't mind." Pain glanced over to Itachi his sharingan glowing just as bright as his rinnegan.
"I do not, go on Itachi."
"Well, I can already assume as much that you didn't bring us all to this world, but how will we get back? And if we cannot go back right away, will we lay low... or will we also show this world, pain?"
Pain took time to think for a moment digesting Itachi's question. Of course, he had to start with the biggest questions first he grumbled internally. Taking a deep breath he answered the uchihas question...
"To answer your first question Itachi, I do not have a clue at the moment on how to get back. I know I unknowingly brought you all here somehow, but getting it to work the other way around will take some time and research." he spoke receiving nods from his group.
"And as for the second..." he paused contemplating his next words carefully. "WE WILL SHOW THIS WORLD PAIN." he down right commanded to the heavens.
Eyes widen throughout the room but he pushed on, "This world although not our own deserves justice and peace. Would it be wrong to leave these people without saviors, without a true path to follow to find true peace? This world may even be worse off than our world with beasts roaming around everywhere causing havoc and destruction. What we will do for them exactly at the moment depends upon the information I recieve, but whatev-" he stopped his eyes rolling back in an information overload.
"Ahem," he coughed recovering quickly. "What... a world this is." he mused a small smile creeping across his face.
"Are you gonna keep it to yourself or are you gonna tell us?" asked Sasori snarkily.
"Most of it, since it is primarily unimportant, however, this world is governed by an organization known as the hero association. The man I was able to extract information seemed to be a high-ranking member of it, being a donor or funder of it.
"So they're basically mercenaries?" asked the ancient assassin.
"More so ninja of the people. Their jobs mostly that of destroying monsters, but also serving as a police force at times. My question is why would they need such a strong military force?" he asked giving himself a pause to let his question sink in.
"Do you think the people are unhappy with this style of governance?" asked Konan.
Turning to the right to face her furrowing his brow, "That is simply impossible without being here longer and knowing the lay of the land, but yes, that is a hypothesis of mine." Turning back to the rest of the Akatsuki now he gazed specifically at Kisame, "Kisame, I know this is on quite short notice, but I have a mission for you and you alone."
The fishman quirked his eyebrow at Pain, a bit intrigued as to what job would need only him.
"Among the memories of this person, there was also a memory of a recent alert about a member of the sea folk attacking the intercostal area west of here," the shark widened his eyes to that of diner plates.
"Holy Shit!"
"Language," muttered Itachi, getting a glare from the swordsman in return.
"You're saying that in this world there's actually people like me?" he asked amazed at his leader who nodded in response.
"Indeed, your mission will be to infiltrate their ranks to siphon information. Who knows, with enough friendly relations we could potentially have an aquatic army at our beckoned call."
"Hehehe, sound good to me boss," Kisame stood up from his spot next to Itachi looking out at the city landscape, "I'll report back by the end of the day, wish me luck," he smirked with a toothy grin as he leaped across the rooftops to the ocean.
"As for the rest of you," focusing his gaze back to his group, "I am giving you a 1 weeks vacation." The room was still quite dark (now being lit by the open balcony), but he could see all their variations of surprise cross their faces, even Sasori moved the puppet Hiruko's eyebrow up.
"Wait! You're giving us ah vacation!" shouted out both Hidan and Deidara practically simultaneously.
"Is this paid leave?" asked Kakazu only to get bonked in the head by Hidan
"Yes you're getting vacations, I already have missions for a good chunk of you, but I think it would be suitable for all of us to soak up the knowledge and culture of the area. Plus, since we seem to be stuck here for the time being, it could be a good bonding experience." Strangely, he received odd looks from everyone most of them looking at him dumbfounded.
"Nagato," Conan inched toward him whispering in his ear.
"Um, yes?"
"You let your tough leader persona slip," she giggled making Pain mentally slap himself.
"I mean!-" he said louder than he wanted, "-If you want! It could boost your teamwork capabilities immensely in these trying times. Teamwork makes the dream work after all," he said hoping he caught himself in a dignified fashion.
"Oh my gosh that made me cringe." they all voiced in their head.
"Thank goodness he still has a soul," Conan thought with a comedic sigh of relief.
"However," he voiced finally getting back into his persona, "I do have rules that you must follow. One," raising one finger, "Do not cause trouble among the populace of this world. We do not want to draw any unnecessary attention to ourselves before our time is right."
"Two," raising a second finger, "I want everyone back here before sundown, as to make sure everyone's ok." This caused a stir in the group.
"Wait I got ah curfew!" shouted Hidan. "What do you think I am 5!"
"Basically," causing an exaggerated gasp from Hidan, "Don't worry, the rule will be lifted for the following week, this is simply a precaution. Finally, and I shouldn't have to say this, do NOT wear our cloaks out in public. Especially if you are doing something to draw attention to yourselves, if you need clothes, you can either pickpocket someone or go to a homeless shelter, whichever you do I can hardly care less." he finished getting a little worked up.
"Is that all mom," voiced Deidara sarcastically.
"Sigh, yes. I command you all to go have fun immediately!" he ordered waving his hand off as if by divine order (which it very much was).
"Best order ever! Let's blow this joint Kakazu!" fist bumping the air.
"Yes, I lost 50 years of savings, I'm up for a pickpocketing race if you want."
"Fuck no! You always win those!"
"Hey Sasori, you think theirs a bomb factory we could go admire, hmm?"
"Deidara, they don't typically put bomb factories next to places where people live." Sasori moaned as they all walked out the door.
Pain looked to his left and saw a conflicted-looking Zetsu and Itachi still seated. "Are you two ok?"
"Yawn, Yeah I'm not really good the whole people thing, I think I'm just gonna find a nice place to get some shade." yawned the plant as he dived off the balcony and buried himself underneath.
"And you Itachi?"
"I don't have any ideas, I'm normally always doing work so I'm a bit lost." bemoaned Itachi as he laid down on his back closing his eyes.
"Well, there is a place known as a mall I was going to take Conan to if you'd like to come," offered Pain receiving a nod no from Itachi.
"No I'm good, ill keep an eye on this place, you two have fun."
Nagato looked to Conan only for her to shrug. "Alright, we'll be back by sundown," he said to Itachi as both he and Conan walked out the door to enjoy their day at the mall.
"HAHAHAHAHA!" Bellowed the giant octopus seafolk as it rampaged through the streets smashing cars and passersby. "Humans! If you wish not for annihilation, take heed! I bear a message from the depths! You will surrender the surface to us, the Clan of the Seafolk! Thereafter you shall become our nourishment, human scu- hm?" as he was giving a rousing sermon, he noticed a...
"GASP, is that a shark pup I see!" shouted the octopi in a booming voice crouching down to get a better look at the thought to be shark pup. "On my king, look how shriveled up you are my dear child!"
"Er-" when Pain said sea folk, he was thinking people...his size.
"Future Sustanence! I hope you have been well informed on your upcoming doom! I have to save this shriveled up little pup before he turns into jerky!" grabbing Kisame by the back of his cloak, he put the shark of his hand whispering, "Are you quite alright my child, have any of these lower beings hurt you?"
"Nah I'm fine I have plenty of protection," he grinned pointing to a wrapped Samehada.
"Aw what a cute little blade you picked up. And I'm glad you're safe as a mollusk, hold on tight child ill get you back home in a splash!" announced the messenger diving head first back into the murky depths.
A Minute Later
Saitama walked disappointed back home. He saw the monster right there, but he jumped back into the water and he wasn't gonna get his suit wet. "I even missed the sale this morning. What an awful day," he muttered defeatedly with his hands on his face.
And that's a wrap! I have a few chapters planned before we get to the juicy lore. Post some ideas of the Akasuki's Vacation arc in the reviews, I'd love to hear your wacky ideas!
