Ten years have come and gone since the day when the final battle to liberate Naboo occurred, many people were both amazed and grateful to the alliance that Vader made and allowed the absolute defeat of the droid control center, which only lead to even more problems for the Trade Federation.
Once they were defeated, they immediately attempted to place the blame for the entire invasion on a person who promised them immense wealth and ownership of Naboo, should the invasion go as planned. They provided many recordings of their conversations with their supposed supporter. The only thing is that the video showed only a cloaked figure, and they even used a device to modulate and change their voice, this means the person behind the cloak could have been literally anyone.
Vader was true to his word and taught Maul as a master should, the fact is that Maul became almost fanatical in his loyalty and devotion to his master, since he was actually taught in ways that he could only dream of before meeting him. He and Vader managed to save thousands if not millions of Kaleesh from the forces that invaded their world. It was a hard-fought war, but even in the Galactic Republic the people once again backing the invasion of the Kaleesh homeworld began to dread even hearing the name of Vader.
Once the invasion was stopped, Vader was called to testify in the Senate to defend his actions, those that backed the invaders were trying to make it look like they were innocent people that were merely defending themselves against the barbaric attacks of the Kaleesh and that Vader was working with them for some nefarious purposes.
Vader used his tech skills and the few hundred droids he made to actively search and hack the systems of any enemy ship, base, and transport, so by the time the meeting happened, Vader only needed to show the videos, communications, documents, and audio recordings of those that were, in fact, trying to vilify him, the people were furious about what they had been trying to do, trying to pull something like what the trade federation tried to do against Naboo, and much like then, the people in charge of the invasion, in the end, paid a heavy price for doing this.
As for the Jedi, they said that they wanted him to actually live in the same domiciles as other Jedi, near or in the Jedi Temple, some said that this was done to keep an eye on him, should he ever turn evil, they would be ready to stop him, but in reality, they had very little knowledge on the dark side of the force, so essentially Vader became an unofficial instructor within the Jedi Temple.
Many people were not happy about this, the Dark Lady is the most vocal against it, but many others were very happy this happened, Dooku, Mace Windu, and Vader became very good friends, and Master Yoda even asked him to teach some of the younglings to lessen the number of younglings that Yoda would be responsible for. The only reason Vader even agreed to this was simply that he considered this something he would do to make up for all the younglings he killed once he turned to the dark side, and became the apprentice of Palpatine.
So teaching a bunch of younglings became a way to do away with one of the most horrific things he has ever done, he did, however, get a reward for helping liberate Naboo, it's just not something that most would consider a grand reward, it was the very same ship that transported Anakin from Tatooine to the very same planet where he now both worth at and in a disturbing sense, is the world where he lost his way and eventually would become the devoted minion, to a monster that didn't care if he was going to destroy the universe if it means either he was happy or achieved his own crazy goals and dreams.
As days went by he learned of the fact that Padme's term as Queen of Naboo came to an end, she was elected to be a Senator to represent her world, which was something he was both happy to hear that Padme was doing well, but was not happy that Palpatine had achieved his goal to become Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, even when he tried constantly to expose him as the man who was responsible for the invasion of Naboo by the trade federation.
As Vader got aboard his ship as he heard that the vote for or against the formation of a galactic army was going to be discussed in the day's session of congress, as he received word that someone had caused a major explosion as her ship landed, good thing that the Tina and everyone present had been trained to use the force to create a force barrier to protect them from the explosion. That didn't matter to him, the minute a person he cared about was in danger, everything else took second place in his priorities.
She would not end up like how his mother ended up, killed by those Tusken Raiders. As his ship landed he immediately ordered his droids to go and investigate everything they could about the explosion from the remains of the ship. The droids took off running towards the wreckage of the ship as he saw Padme's body double, the Padme from his time was laying on a stretcher. It didn't help that he knew this person was his wife.
Vader completely ignored the security personnel and even Padme this current time, his focus was on his wife, as he kneeled down and used a force skill that he actually learned a long time ago, and sent his energy all over and inside his wife, causing her body to rapidly begin to regenerate and her injuries to heal. As she regain consciousness she looked at the helmet and knew exactly who it was.
"I gather this is due to your decision to vote against the army creation bill, my droids will have a complete analysis of the situation within moments, which should give us an idea of where and possibly who was the idiot that attacked you and the other handmaidens, I shall make certain those responsible pay for doing this, of that you can be certain." She began to laugh as she asked for a hand in helping to stand up and immediately smiled at Vader.
"I heard that you had been busy building diplomatic relations between the Jedi and the Sith that have pledged themselves to you, when you were declared their lord, also I heard this rather adorable rumor that you had been spending time teaching younglings in the Jedi Temple. You better be careful Vader, you might give your significant other the idea that you are ready to have more kids since you are showing more of a fatherly role lately."
Vader looked at her and began to shake his head when he heard this as he looked at the security officers finally making it to the scene, "I wouldn't think of having more kids at the moment, in fact, it would be quite foolish considering that this attack is anything if not the preamble to the start of a new war. I warned you and the other senators that only focusing on the well-being and prosperity of the core worlds would make the other planets in the outer rim feel abandoned, if not abused, and much as I warned many of those systems have banned together and wish to leave the Galactic Republic, even I have heard of the propaganda and recruitment videos of the Confederation of Independent Systems, you call them the Separatists, they feel that if the Galactic Republic doesn't care about them, then they would be far better off not being part of it, so they can take the resources that otherwise go to pay taxes to the Galatic Republic and used those resources to fix problems or improve life on their own systems."
Padme looked at Vader and began to nod her head, "Yes, I am well aware of that, I just didn't think things have progressed so much that they are willing to go from philosophical disputes to active and aggressive acts, like this attack." Vader told her what the Senate calls revolts and strikes, the other side calls fighting for their independence, it all is a matter of perspectives.
"I did what I could, but I would feel better after you been taken to a medic and at least had one scan to see there are no lingering problems. If you feel this is necessary, I can remain here with your other security personnel for your safety. Not that I am looking forward to seeing that bastard, I imagine he is overly proud of his accomplishment."
Padme looked at him and began to laugh, "You don't like politicians, do you?" Vader looked at her still pretending to be a handmaiden, "Not particularly, I don't tend to like lazy, greedy, self-serving people in general, so no I don't like politicians, I can think of only two exceptions, but you already know who I speak of." This caused the body double to begin laughing as she pretended to laugh, and tripped, Vader had to catch her in what some of the other handmaidens were thinking was a pretense to give him a hug.
"As much as we may dislike Chancellor Palpatine, we must meet with him to inform him of this attack, and to get him to help us prevent the formation of another army, we must find a way to start diplomatic discussions with these Separatists, to reconcile our troubles between us and restore peace, in other to prevent another costly and tragic war. So even if we know it is his fault so until we can take care of this pain we must pretend to play nice with Chancellor Palpatine."
They were guided towards the Senate tower, which was too many a majestic building that represented the very seat of government of the Galactic Republic, Vader called it a nest of vipers, this place actually made him miss the Jedi Temple, and this was coming from a Sith. He hated the very notion of having to play nice with the bastard, if he could do as he really wanted, he wanted to draw both of his lightsabers and throw them into the air as they walked in, catching Palpatine off guard and chopping his head off.
He however knew that he couldn't do that, this would end up making him a martyr, a tragic hero, and a victim, and he didn't want to have this sort of scum be treated like that, because it could influence many others to try and emulate him. One person like him was bad, he was not going to be the one that causes thousands of this sort of scum to spread throughout the galaxy. If Palpatine was going to die, he would do so when he is exposed as the villain he is, and as punishment for his actions.
"Ah, Senator Amidala, I just received reports on the attack on the spaceport, I can't tell you how happy I am to see that nothing bad has happened to you or your people. I am also surprised to see the hero who saved my homeworld, I gather you came to ensure the safety of Senator Amidala, and for that, I thank you, Sir Vader. In truth, I wanted to speak with you during the celebration of the victory to free Naboo, but sadly I was informed that you had already left the planet on some urgent business."
Vader looked at the man and he still felt him trying to prove his mind, feeble attempts, but he was still trying. "I had to leave the system to go to other planets, my allies informed me of a world that was also being invaded, and I had to act to save as many innocent lives as possible, not what most would expect from a Sith, but I am not what most consider to be a typical Sith, sorry that I missed the chance to speak with you."
As Vader sat down and looked at Padme she sat on the chair right next to the one he was sitting on. "We came to inform you of the attack, and that we both believe it was an attempt on my life to prevent me from voting on the bill regarding the new army that apparently is being formed, is an army truly what is necessary at this time? Couldn't we use diplomacy and resolve our disputes with the Confederation of Independent Systems peacefully?"
Palpatine looked at Padme and began to shake his head, "I know, I too tire of conflict, so soon after Naboo was finally free of the invading droid army, but sadly the Separatists have shown their hand, we believe it was them that launched the attack on your ship as it landed, this clearly shows that they have no desire to negotiate or would even consider a diplomatic solution to their grievances, so as sad as it may be, we must be ready if open war is to happen lest they take this chance to strike at us if they think we are unprepared or unable to defend ourselves."
Palpatine looked at Padme trying to look like he was genuinely worried, to Vader he was only acting, and as much as he hated to admit it, he was putting some theater actors to shame, if he didn't know him better he would actually believe him as he once did, but he did know him. "As for this, I believe that we must have you go off-world to a more secure location, for your own safety, if they attacked your ship as it landed, if you remain on Coruscant, they may attack again, as for why I spoke with some Jedi the other day, they informed me that they believe the Separatist army are actually being lead by two Sith, sadly the Jedi couldn't tell me if they know the identity of these individuals, but I am certain Vader knows as much as I suspect that if that is the case, war is unavoidable."
He stood up and began to walk over towards Padme and he smiled, "As for your security detail, I would highly suggest that either Vader, or that young man you know so well, Anakin, go with you back to Naboo, the Queen has informed me that she is happy to provide you with a safe location, and in the meantime, you must appoint a proxy that may act in your behalf. Do not dread, you may communicate with your proxy through a secure terminal."
Vader looked at him and knew he was behind everything, but he had to keep him from noticing, "I will also investigate any possible way for the assassins to gain access to the precise schedule and place where the ship was supposed to land, that information is not generally available to the public. I will also contact a few bounty hunters I know well and ask them if they know who the people that attacked could possibly be. I plan to send my apprentice to Mandalor to find out if we could obtain some of their best to add to the security detail, I sincerely doubt it, considering that they fought a war against the Galactic Republic, but I would lose nothing for merely trying."
The fact that Vader mentioned this was to gauge his response, and given the fact that he didn't react at all, it gave him the impression that somehow he didn't plan to use the Mandalorians as much as Vader would have thought. He met Jango Fett thanks to the alliance that was formed to defeat the Trade Federation, earned his respect as a fellow warrior, and he did mention to him that one of his greatest wishes was that he could have a son to whom he could pass his skills and clan practices.
Before Vader thought that was needless sentimentalism, but after he found out that he was a father and spent some time with Luke, he came to regret not being more present in their lives as they grew up, in this second chance, he met his wife once again, but unlike before this time she had no problem during her pregnancy and they had twins once again, and once again, they named them, as they were named Luke and Leia, the main difference, however, is that they toyed with the idea of naming them Luke and Leia Vader, but Schmi was happy to hell Vader that she already considers him her son, and Anakin his big brother, so he would be welcomed to give his kids the Skywalker name, and so Luke and Leia Skywalker were born, and it has been nine years since their birth.
As for Vader, he decided to finally go and visit a place he once knew very well, Kamino, the place where he knew the clone army was going to be made, he knew the place very well since unlike everyone present he treated his troops as people, not things that were created to be disposable troops. As he commanded and directed them in battle fighting alongside them, they naturally had a much more cordial and friendly relationship, as such, they told him many things about Kamino, the Kaminoans, and even how clones are born and trained.
As he walked towards the council chamber he was not happy at all that his plan to have Anakin trained by Qui-Gon had not gone the way he expected, they thought that Anakin would be better if he was trained by all the members of the council. This didn't feel right, it felt like they wanted to either influence Anakin or make him trust them so that one day they could get rid of him.
Vader still believed that not every member of the council had the best intentions toward his little brother, "So Vader where do you plan to go? We all know you can hardly stay in one place for too long before you try to do some mission to help someone or go off and fight some criminal group or other things even worse." He looked at Mace Windu and simply told him he plans to go to a very interesting water world, called Kamino, which got the interest of Qui-Gon as he almost began to focus on him.
"Isn't it funny, my padawan, Obi-wan, was actually looking for information about that world within the Jedi Archives. He found that there was no mention of it anywhere. So how is it that you know where that world is?" Vader simply smiled and told him because he has been there several times already.
That is when another Jedi Council member asked him if he has been to most of the known worlds, to which he simply smiled in a way that made his body look almost confident, that gave them the impression it was true, he had been to most of the known worlds, "So which planet do you hate the most?" Without waiting a second he said Tatooine. Some of them remark that was a rather quick response didn't he find his padawan on that planet, why hate the place.
"I will tell you again, so get that wax out of your ears, I am a Sith and proud of it, I found my apprentice there helping then Queen Amidala, but he was never from that world, to begin with, I told Qui-Gon that he was a Zabrak, he was born on Dathomir. Dangerous to most people, but rather fun for people like me."
Windu asked what exactly did he find so fun? Vader told him that the place is quite challenging, the terrain is rather harsh and difficult to travel on, and they do have beasts that are big enough that can eat an adult man in a single gulp. "The people on that world have developed a sort of symbiotic relationship with them, and even let them use them as mounts, I tried to ride one, but I swear the damn thing keep treating me like this thing was a little girl and I was her favorite doll, tried to tickle me more times than I care to admit, and gave me some rather painful hugs, but other than that, I quite enjoyed it, the food is strange looking, but once you get past the looks it is rather tasty."
"Fascinating that is, focus we must, with Obi-wan you shall go. Report you will upon your return. Safe you should stay." This was ridiculous to Vader, he knows far too well that he can speak normally, he did so many times when he was either angry or drunk. Obi-Wan was not happy to hear this as he was glaring at Vader. "Well it seems you will be traveling with me, so at least keep your paranoia and anger management issues under control, I will be civil as long as you return me the same courtesy."
As Obi-Wan and Vader left the council chamber he got on the lift that would take them to the floor where the ship's landing bay was, "If I am angry with you it is because thanks to you, I had to cut short my time training under my master, I could have learned much more, but no, you basically demanded that Anakin become his next padawan. To make matters even worse he is getting training from the entire Jedi Council, something that no one has ever received, and I blame you for it."
As Vader began to get off the elevator and began to walk down the corridors, he didn't bother looking at Obi-wan, "The only other alternative was that I keep Anakin as my apprentice, since I couldn't do that, I had to choose another person as my apprentice. You know I love him like a little brother, wouldn't you do the same thing and look out for the best interest of your little brother?" Obi-wan was quiet from that moment on, almost like he was thinking very hard about that.
The Nubian Royal Suttle had gone massive upgrades and remodeling since the time Vader first received it. It was first designed as a ship for royals to travel from one planet to another, but now the shuttle looked like it went through heavy militarization, it had an impressive array of weaponry and shields on the shuttle, making it capable of taking on several heavy destroyers and still win. The entire crew was droids of various forms and sizes. "Master Vader, all assigned tasks have been taken care of, we are ready to launch upon your command."
It was a rather gentle voice that was coming from this particularly strange-looking protocol droid, "Very well TeeFour, contact traffic control and request clearing for departure, set our destination for the planet of Kamino. Inform TeeTwo and TeeFive that I will require some food and drink for myself and the young man that will travel with us, he is a Jedi Knight by the name of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Treat him as a guest, even if he is a Jedi."
As they both walked into the ship and found the place where meetings would normally take place, Obi-wan sat down and looked at Vader asking him why did he call the droids variations of a T-name and how many droids did he currently have inside his shuttle? Vader accepted a cup of tea and began to drink it, "I call them that because they are Test models, as for how many, not many, I only have twenty-four models. Each has been designed for a specific purpose, for instance, TeeFour was designed as a nurse, secretary, and maid, which is why she sounds the way she does. Her voice was something she picked up as according to TeeFour it would help every listener to calm down and feel less threatened. Yes, all twenty-four models can technically be called hunter-killer units, but you have nothing to fear since you are not going attack me or attempt to destroy this shuttle, or are you?"
That is when Obi-wan began to laugh as he asked him anything he knows about Kamino, to which Vader looked at him as he began eating the food and telling him the history of the planet and of the people, but not before reminding him that he can eat, the food is actually not poisoned.
