Chapter 3: Ichigo
It was dark and the stars were hiding behind the clouds. Ichigo sat down at the bar and ordered himself a beer. He wasn't surprised that he was the first one to arrive at the bar. He was always the first to arrive anywhere. He thought being on time was essential plus in his years of working being on time was very important. He checked his phone and saw Kenichi texted him. Ichigo frowned as he read the text.
'Dad I'm never coming to Senna's house again. She is the single worst mother in the world. How can she even be allowed to watch us? She has a guy over by the way, some macho dude who keeps acting weird.'
Ichigo scowled and looked around. He saw no one had arrived yet so he went to a secluded area and called Senna. She of course didn't answer which irritated him more than anything. He called her again and got no answer. He then decided to call Kenichi who answered immediately. He sounded pissed and irritated.
"Kenichi what's happening why isn't Senna answering!?"
Kenichi huffed, "Dad she's drunk off her ass. And this guy is giving me weird vibes dad. Please come and get us."
Ichigo sighed and rubbed his temples, "Put Senna on the phone."
"Ugh fine."
Ichigo didn't want to take the kids away from their mom since they needed to spend time with her even if it was just for three days. He thought maybe he could try and reason with her. See if she could get herself together to spend some time with her kids. Eventually Kenichi gave Senna the phone and she very drunkenly spoke.
"Herro, who iz dish?"
Ichigo frowned, "Senna, I will be over there soon you better have your shit together."
Ichigo heard shuffling and Kenichi got the phone back, " Dad, please come over soon. We're going to all go in the room away from Senna but please get here soon."
Kenichi hung up after that. Ichigo looked at the time and saw it was eight and his friends were just getting there. Ichigo knew his night was over before it even started. Renji, his red headed tattooed friend, came over to him and patted him on the back. Ichigo gave him a knowing look.
Renji sighed,"Why don't you just get full custody dude?"
Ichigo shook his head, "Because she's their mother."
"Yeah a mother who doesn't care about her kids." Renji added.
Ichigo nodded, "She cares she's just going through a hoe phase I guess."
Renji laughed, "Ichigo we're in our forties she's in her forties she's way too old for that."
Ichigo agreed but she was still their mother. Ichigo knew he had to get over there as soon as possible. He said goodbyes to his friends and got one more beer and drove to Senna place. She lived in a three bedroom apartment. It wasn't the best for seven kids but she made it work thankfully. She lived on the fourth floor and it was a hell of a walk up and down those stairs. Ichigo knocked on the door, waited a good five seconds then knocked again when he got no answer he started banging. Eventually Kenichi answered the door and quickly let Ichigo in the apartment. Ichigo looked around and saw alcohol bottles and cigarettes all over the place. Ichigo saw Senna laid out on her brown couch sleeping.
Ichigo glared and went to check on his kids. Kenichi led Ichigo to the guest rooms Nana had her earphones in and was playing mobile games on her phone while sitting on the floor. The twins were sitting in the corner both on their social media looking at short videos. Kuro, Kia and Mia were both sitting on the edges of the bed watching some random cartoons. Ichigo told the kids to get their things packed and they were going back home. They all happily started packing and Ichigo went to go speak to Senna. She was still sleeping. Ichigo shook her vigorously, aggressively waking her up.
"Hey what the fuck Ichigo!?"
"Senna you knew you had the kids today what in the fuck is wrong with you? Do you want to lose them huh? We may despise each other but don't let that come in between you and the kids." Ichigo shouted.
Senna frowned and stood up, "Well take them then I'll just get them in two weeks."
Ichigo took a deep breath, "By then please have your shit together Senna seriously."
Senna just laid back on the couch and waved him off. The kids all went to the car once they had everything packed. Renji texted him asking if he was okay. Ichigo just texts a thumbs up emoji. When they all got home everyone went to their designated rooms and unpacked. Ichigo went to his room and called Senna's older sister Benin. She looked nothing Like Senna, complete opposites aside from having purple hair. Even then Benin had a darker purple hair color whereas Senna's was a lighter tone. She answered after three rings.
"Yes Ichigo?"
Ichigo huffed, "Benin, can you please check on Senna? I had to take the kids again. She had a guy over before I got there and she was drunk off her ass."
Ichigo heard Benin sigh, "I'll go check on her. How are the kids doing?"
"Benin, they're starting to resent her. I keep telling her to get her shit together but you know she never listens." Ichigo answered.
Benin groaned, "Yeah thanks Ichigo I appreciate you still caring about her. Despite everything."
Ichigo smiled and ended the phone call. He got up to check and see how his kids were doing. He was surprised to see them all in the kitchen scavenging for something that was already pre-made. Ichigo walked into the kitchen asking if they ate anything. They all simultaneously shook their heads. Nana told him Senna didn't have any food and she wouldn't buy them anything. Ichigo had to take deep breaths. He hated that his kids were basically starving over their mothers house. He told the kids he'd order them pizza and wings and they could just watch movies and hangout. The kids all rejoiced and ran to select movies to watch while their father ordered them pizza. Kenichi and the twins all asked their dad if they could go out much to his dismay. Kenichi wanted to go to a party and the twins were invited to a party as well.
Ichigo shook his head, "No. It's almost nine at night, are you serious?"
"Come on dad please one of my buddies is going to pick me up and we're just going to go to this party please." Kenichi begged.
Ichigo sighed, "Fine but please be careful son."
Kenichi cheered and went to his room to get ready. The twins pouted, walked up to their dad and immediately started begging to go to the party or they'd be outcasts. Ichigo rolled his eyes at his twins; they could be drama queens at times. Ichigo allowed them to go but he needed the parents' contact information and the address. The twins were prepared and gave him all the information he needed. Afterwards the twins squealed and ran to get dressed.
"More pizza for us!" Kuro shouted.
Kia cheered, "Yay more pizza for us!"
Mia joined in and started jumping for joy with her brothers. Ichigo chuckled at his kids' antics. Nana who was sitting on the couch stretched and walked up to Ichigo. Ichigo braced himself ready for her to ask if she could go out as well. Of course Nana was built differently because she asked if Ichigo could bring her food to her room. Apparently she was going to be gaming all night and she couldn't be disturbed. Ichigo gave her his normal smiles and told her he'd deliver her dinner as requested. She snorted and went to her room. Ichigo looked at his three youngest and saw they were looking at him with knowing eyes.
"Daddy Chappy comes on tonight, can you watch it with us?" Mia asked.
Ichigo nodded, "Of course I can't think of anything more than watching a stupid bunny hop on tv for a good thirty minutes."
Kuro laughed, "Well after Chappy my superhero show comes on Dad will you watch it with me?"
"Of course Kuro I love watching your heroes get beaten then make a comeback at the very last second. Ichigo answered.
"Oh wait Daddy, will you watch my anime with me?"
Ichigo couldn't say anything bad about Kia's picks regardless if it was anime or superheroes hell even sports Ichigo was always invested in the show. When the food arrived Ichigo made his kids their plates and delivered Nana her pizza and wings along with her favorite juice. She was so invested in her game that she didn't even hear Ichigo burst into her room. He sat her food and drink down on her night stand, kissed her forehead and left the room. Sooner than later Kenichi and the twins' rides came to pick them up. Ichigo gave Kenichi a stern talking to about responsibility and he gave the twins the don't trust anyone speech. Once they left Ichigo and his three youngests were watching tv. Ichigo enjoyed his time with his kids but lately his adult life has taken a huge hiatus. Senna usually had her shit together to allow him even a small pleasure of drinking a beer with his friends, or going out to dinner with his friends, or very rarely a date while the kids were at her place.
Around eleven the kids were falling asleep. Ichigo individually carried them to their rooms and tucked them in. He kissed them goodnight and checked on Nana who was still playing games. Ichigo said his goodnights told her to get to sleep soon and then started texting his other kids. Kenichi sent him very quick texts saying he was fine and he would be home soon. Ichigo didn't bother texting the twins he texted the mom who picked them up. She was a married woman whose husband worked long hours leaving her with the kids. Her name was Momo. She was short, had short black hair and pretty eyes. She seemed happy but Ichigo felt there was something going on but he didn't care honestly as long as she took care of his girls. She texted that the girls were safe and were going to stay over since it was so late. That upset Ichigo a bit but he understood it was late. He texted her that he'd be by to pick them up first thing in the morning. Ichigo went to his room mentally and physically exhausted. He just wishes he had some Ichigo time. The moment his body hit the bed he immediately went into a dreamless sleep waiting for the morning to start his day all over again.
