As the group progressed through the darkness of the mountain, the only light that was emitted came from the torches that they carried. Aragorn led the group through the winding passage with Linwelos behind him. Legolas and Galuwen followed her as Angel and Gimli brought up the rear. As they moved Aragorn called out, "Come... The dead linger on this path, but we must walk it to the end."

Gimli uttered quietly, "Malice lies heavy in the air."

The group moved through the fog covered areas and it seemed as if the passage was one big maze. Everyone halted momentarily as Aragorn looked around the area they were in and said, "This way! We are close now!"

Seeing the bones that covered the ground around them, Gimli said nervously, "I have a very bad feeling about this..."

Linwelos moved alongside Galuwen and the two of them glanced at each other, uncertainty in their eyes but had come too far to turn back now and proceeded on. Angel followed those ahead of him but did not know what to make of the situation they were in and cautiously moved along the path, stepping over the bones littering the ground before them. Galuwen looked around at the remains on the ground of those who had never returned from this passage and said to Linwelos, "Ta yeetar ve manka ron neumae sinome." {It looks as if they were trapped here.}

"Le teera... Ron neumae ve nyanorim." {You are right... They were trapped here like rats.}

As they came into a clearing with a large stone bridge outstretching over a vast dark chasm they moved across it carefully as they saw endless levels about them on all sides. The torches flickered as a wind blew through the area when Legolas said, "This is where the dead gather... It is a place of great evil!"

Reaching the other side they saw a statue carved into the wall of the cave. It is of a warrior with a pile of skulls at the base of it. A great rumbling sound is heard as a green mist comes from the statue and takes the shape of a man, the King of the Dead.

"Who enters my domain?" the apparition asks.

"One who will have your allegiance!" Aragorn replies.

In an almost mocking manner the King says, "The dead do not suffer the living to pass."

"You will suffer me..." Aragorn hisses as he sees movement out of the corner of his eye.

Angel steps out from the rest of the group to stand beside Aragorn and before the King shifts into demonic form and answers, "I am not one of the living."

"The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead and the Dead keep it. The way is shut. Now you must die!" The ghostly King replied, almost as if he were ignoring Angel.

Legolas and Galuwen draw their bows and fire arrows towards the King but they pass right through him and land on the stone floor behind him.

"We can not harm a ghost!" Gimli calls out as ghostly soldiers surround them.

Moving before the King, Aragorn challenges, "I summon you to fulfil your oath."

"None but the King of Gondor may command me." The ghost replied to the man before him.

Raising Andúril before him, the ghost king attacks him with his sword, but much to the ghosts surprise the sword does not go through his but they clash and the sound reverberates through the room when Aragorn grabs him by the throat.

"That blade was broken!" the ghost says as best he could with the grip that Aragorn had on his throat.

"It has been remade..." he replied, releasing the ghost and turns to address the dead soldiers around him; "Fight for us, and regain your honor..." walking past the rows of ghostly soldiers and extending Andúril, sweeping it past those around him he beckons, "What say you?"

The ghosts do not answer but look with uncertainty to the mortal in front of them when Aragorn says again, "What say you?"

"You waste your time... They had no honor in life and they have none now in death." Angel says, as he looks at the ghosts around them, still in his demonic form.

"I am Isildur's heir! Fight for me, and I will hold your oath's fulfilled!" Aragorn says to the masses around them.

Linwelos and Galuwen look at the faces of the dead around them and see a look of uncertainty in their expressions when Aragorn says in a commanding tone one last time, "What say you!"
