AN: Sorry this chapter took so long. I've got a job now so Free time is a bit scarce for me now. But I'll to write when i can.
Anyways, Enjoy some angst.

Dr Two Brains gasped and breathed heavily as he lifted himself off the floor. The mouse brained doctor could hear and feel his heart beating rapidly; almost deafening to his ear drums. He continued to breath and collect his thoughts as he looked up; expecting to find himself in Tubings lab with his henchmen by his side. But he was not.

Two Brains blinked with wide eyes as he found himself in a place he could not recognize. Around him there was nothing. Just a dark void with an invisible surface for him to stand on. The doctor lifted himself off the surface of the void and looked around; still finding nothing to pin point where he was.

"Hello?" He called out for someone; anyone to hear. "Is anyone here?!"

Two Brains began to hyperventilate as he only heard the sound of his voice echoing through the black void he was trapped in. The doctor could feel himself going into a panic attack as he saw nothing around him; his heart almost coming to a near halt as he realized what was actually happening.

"Oh, no. I'm in the back of my own head." Two Brains spoke with elevated panic in his voice. "No no no no no!"

Two Brains wanted to try and run and look for a way out of this mental prison. But his legs just gave out and left him on his knees; like a heavy weight was placed on him and made it near impossible to get back up. He could not bring himself up. All he could do was lay down and have a break down.

WordGirl let out a short huff as she finished tying up Amazing Rope Guy with his own ropes; knowing thirteen tight knots should be more than enough to restrain someone.

"Well, Rope Guy. I hope you learned a lesson about stealing shoe laces." The superhero said to the villain as she dusted off her hands.

"That I should've used more ropes for this heist?" Rope Guy answered with a question; not getting the point of what WordGirl said.

Huggy raised a confused brow while WordGirl shook her head a little bit.

"I was thinking maybe don't do the heist at all. If it didn't work the first time, it probably won't work the second time with just more ropes." The superhero said with a shrug as Huggy nodded in agreement; watching as the police lifted rope guy into the van.

Rope Guy was about to argue how more rope could work; but the police shut the doors of the van before he could get a syllable out. WordGirl shook her head and floated into the air as Huggy held on to her shoulders.

"He really needs to get a hobby. But something origami or stamp collecting." The superhero thought out loud as her sidekick nodded in agreement.

Before WordGirl could say or think of anything else, her super hearing picked something up from across town.

"Please don't hurt us!"

"ROTTEN HUMANS!"

The super powered preteen gasped as she realised one of the distressed voices she heard was Professor Tubing. While the other voice she heard was something high pitched and aggressive. Something was wrong back at the lab.

"Something's wrong. We got to get back to the lab, Huggy!" WordGirl said with urgency in her voice.

Before Huggy could question what the superhero was talking about, she flew up into the air and flew back to the lab at lightning speed; stopping in front of the door as the commotion quieted down. But she could still hear sounds of distress from inside. With slightly shaking nerves, WordGirl placed her hand on the door handle and turned it as Huggy watched with nervous confusion. The superhero quickly opened the door and gasped in fear at what she saw.

Professor Tubings lab was in complete shambles. Lab equipment was thrown, scattered and broken on the floor. Books were knocked off from their shelves and the furniture was ruined and scratched like a wild animal got to it. Professor Tubings wheelchair was knocked over onto its side, but the professor himself was missing.

"Professor?! Henchmen?!" WordGirl called out as she looked around for anyone; hoping now one was hurt or worse.

Huggy jumped off of the superheros shoulder and began quickly looking around for Professor Tubing, the henchmen, and Dr Two Brains. After a few seconds, Huggy jumped up on the couch and looked on the opposite side to see Charlie and Joey sitting on the floor with the professor and Bosco; huddled together with different levels of fear in each of their eyes. Huggy let out an alarmed shriek; getting WordGirl's attention and making her come over to see the hiding men and science monkey.

"What happened?" The superhero asked with a mix of fear and worry in her voice; realizing someone was missing. "Where's two brains?"

"The boss went all feral and wrecked the place!" Joey recalled the horrible scene as Charlie lifted Professor Tubing and walked over to his wheelchair; WordGirl helping by lifting the chair back on its wheels. "His second brain took over while you were out crime fighting!"

WordGirl managed to get the wheelchair back up as Joey told her what happened; her eyes going wide with shock and disbelief.

"What- How!? The MSE should have stopped that from happening!" the superhero questioned; thinking that the device was somehow faulty or did not work at all.

Charlie gently placed Professor Tubing in his wheelchair and made sure he was comfortable; the professor thanking the quiet man before turning to WordGirl.

"The device isn't malfunctioning thankfully." Professor began to explain as Bosco climbed and sat on his lap with the device in her paws. "But I'm it ran out of battery and stopped working; allowing Squeaky to emerge and take control."

Huggy made a worried squeak as WordGirl quickly processed the information. But a terrible thought immediately made its way into her head.

"Did he escape?!" WordGirl questioned; thinking Squeaky brains was loose somewhere in Fair City.

"Thankfully, no. Bosco was able to trap him in the MRI chamber with some cheese we had in the fridge." Professor Tubing explained; proudly patting the monkey of science on the back for her innovative.

WordGirl looked towards the room where the MRI machine was located; focusing her hearing on the direction of the locked door.

The superhero felt a chill go up her spine as she heard the sounds of aggressive muttering; a high pitched yet raspy voice breathing heavy with anger. WordGirl turned back to the others and asked some more questions.

"What about the device?" She asked before expressing her concerns. "We can't just keep Two Brains locked up in there."

Professor nodded in agreement as he moved towards his desk.

"Luckily, I have another MSE right here." He said as he handed the charged device to the superhero with another lanyard attached to it. "This one should be charged up. I'm going to go and put the main one on charge so we have an immediate back up when it runs out."

WordGirl looked down at the device before she felt a tap on her shoulder; turning to see Joey with a worried frown as he spoke up.

"Are you going in there, WordGirl?" The henchman asked; almost shaking as he looked towards the room with the trapped doctor.

"Well, I have to. We need to get Two Brains back in control before it becomes impossible." The superhero answered; dreading whatever was going on in the doctors' head right now.

Joey turned towards Charlie with a shaky nervous stare; Charlie swallowing a mouthful of nervous and fearful saliva.

"Just be careful. Squeaky is angry that the boss even considered getting rid of him." Joey warned with Charlie nodding in agreement.

WordGirl did not respond with any spoken words. She could only nod in acknowledgment as she cautiously made her way to the MRI to confront Squeaky Brains; Huggy staying behind with Professor Tubing and the henchmen in case if something were to happen.

WordGirl gently held the device in her hand as she looked towards the locked MRI room; eyeing the viewing window and the scratches from inside and the door to left locked from the outside. With a cautious step, the superhero brought herself in front of the window; gasping when she saw the state of the room.

The MRI machine was a wreck. Parts of it were stripped off and thrown in all corners of the room; loose wires and components of the machine were exposed and damaged. But WordGirl's attention was immediately placed on the figure sitting on the floor in the middle of the room; hunched over with his face turned away. WordGirl felt a chill go down her spine as she looked at the mouse; pulsating and glowing in that familiar green hue as she remembered the last time this happened. Getting a hold over herself and taking a deep breath, WordGirl put the device behind her back and spoke.

"Squeaky?" The superhero said as she tapped the window; hoping to get the docs attention.

WordGirl watched with an anxious stare as the mouse brained doctor lifted his head; still facing away from her as he only slightly moved his head.

"I know that voice."

WordGirl could swear that she felt her heart skip a beat as the doctor spoke. But she knew it was not Dr Two Brains talking to her. That high pitched demonic voice was not him. It was Squeaky. The superhero was about to say something. But all that came out was frightened gasp as Squeaky Brains suddenly moved; slamming his hands against the window with an eerie grin mere inches away from the glass. WordGirl tried to keep calm and compose herself as Squeaky Brains let out a raspy chuckle; a layer of condensation appearing on the glass as he laughed.

"Hello, pyjama girl." Squeaky greeted with a tone of mockery "Does your arm hurts still?"

Despite the misuse of grammar Squeaky was using, WordGirl could not bring herself to point it out and correct it. The way he was grinning at her was so unsettling to the point where it was making her blood run cold. It was like Two Brains was possessed by some could of demon. In a way, he was. WordGirl fought through the fearful butterflies building up in her stomach; knowing Two Brains needed her help.

"I'll cut to the chase, Squeaky." The superhero gave the parasite of a rodent a hard stare in a hope to intimidate him. "You're doing Dr Two Brains more harm than good and you need to go."

Squeaky Brains' grin turned into a frown of distain as he backed off from the glass.

"Like Squeaky didn't already know that. Squeaky brain knows what human brain has been doing, and Squeaky don't like it." Squeaky Brains spoke with a growl. "Human brain wasn't doing his part. Not getting enough cheese. So Squeaky decided to take things into his own claws."

"So, you're putting a human being through unbearable pain just for cheese?! I knew you're an evil psychotic rodent, but that's just sick!" WordGirl berated the rodent for his deeds, even if it was obvious.

Squeaky brains tilted Two Brains head slightly and blinked at the superhero. WordGirl gave him a hateful stare that be intimidating for others. But the hateful stare turned into a stare of fearful confusion for the superhero as Squeaky Brains let out a high-pitched cackle with an unsettling grin.

"Alien girl thinks this just about cheese and only cheese?" The evil rodent asked with his hands on the glass and his eyes on WordGirl's fearful face. "Tell me. Does alien girl know how long mice live for?"

WordGirl did not need think about it for too long. Mice did not naturally live for very long; usually three to five years at best if they were lab mice.

"Three to five years at best." The superhero reluctantly answered the question.

"And how long does a human live?" Squeaky asked another question; knowing WordGirl would immediately catch on.

WordGirl blinked as Squeaky asked that question. Humans did indeed have a significantly longer lifespan then most creatures; especially mice. But her eyes widened when she realised why Squeaky asked her these questioned.

"Is that why you don't want to be removed from Dr Two Brains?" She asked with a narrowed glare; showing no sympathy for the rodent. "So you can leech off of him and live a little longer like some kind of parasite?"

WordGirl continued to glare as Squeaky let out a condescending cackle.

"Well done, Super obvious girl." Squeaky mocked before he continued. "Squeaky hit the jackpot when that accident mashed mouse brain and human brain together. I'm only acting on basic survival Instinct and I ain't giving this body up without a fight! It belongs to Squeaky!"

WordGirl could swear that she felt her blood begin to boil as she heard Squeaky refer to Two Brains like he was an item. The superhero had to diel back her angry back before she responded.

"Two Brains is not your property, Squeaky!" WordGirl berated the rodent as she held herself back from slamming her fist on the glass. "What you're doing to him is putting him in a lot of pain! But you probably don't care. You didn't care when you caused that accident. You didn't care when you took over the first time and you don't care now! You can argue that you're acting on your basic survival instincts; but we both know that you're doing this out pure evil and spite! I'm not going to let you keep doing to Two Brains and he's going to be free of you! Learn to deal with it!"

WordGirl tried to keep herself composed as she caught her breath; staring down Squeaky brains in an attempt to be intimidating. But the stare was only met with an unsettling chuckle as Squeaky grinned.

"You miss him, don't you?"

WordGirl blinked as her hardened stare turned into confusion; having trouble processing what the parasitic rodent just asked her.

"W-what?"

"You miss him." Squeaky repeated with a malicious smile. "Not Two Brains. You miss the other one."

WordGirl's eyes widened as she realised what Squeaky was saying. She knew who he was talking about.

Dr Boxleitner.

"I don't know what you mean." The superhero tried to lie out of fear; only making Squeaky chuckle harder.

"Squeaky thinks you do." The rodent teased with a snicker; seemingly trying to get WordGirl to react. "Human girl misses how human brain was before the accident. You think you can help get him back to normal. Back to his normal foolish self."

WordGirl narrowed her brow as Squeaky let out a mocking snicker. But she interrupted him as she stomped her foot on the floor; making the two rooms shake momentarily as she pointed her finger at the parasite on the other side of the glass.

"You have no right to talk about Steven that way!" WordGirl had to keep herself from outright shouting; not noticing the glass shaking as she spoke.

"Why not? I know him better than you do. Because we share a headspace." Squeaky continued before tapping Two Brains head. "Steven is in here. He has been the whole time."

WordGirl did not take her eyes off the rodent parasite as he continued to speak and snickering; her hand tightening into a fist as she felt her blood begin to boil in growing anger.

"You wish you could have stopped the accident, don't you?" Squeaky asked with a sinister mocking grin. "You hate what Steven turned into."

"Shut up." WordGirl warned the rodent to watch his tongue; her fist tightening as her anger grew.

"You'll never get him back. Steven is mine. He and his body belong to me and I'll never give it up! No matter what you do, you'll never get him back!"

"I SAID SHUT UP!"

Unable to keep herself calm and composed, WordGirl let out a yell that not only made her voice shake, but the whole lab. Squeaky took a few steps back and momentarily covered his ears as the room shook. Huggy and the others could hear the yell and feel the aftereffects; all of them either covering their ears or hanging onto something to avoid falling over. WordGirl took a few deep breaths as her eyes started tearing up out of frustration; trying to regain her composure. But her focus was immediately set onto the shaking of the room that she herself just caused; her eyes widening when several cracks appear in the glass between her and Squeaky. Squeaky took his hands away from his ears as he began to chuckle with a sinister grin.

"Human girl is so stupid." Squeaky spoke with a tone filled with malice.

WordGirl was not sure why Squeaky was acting so triumphant. Not until the shaking stopped and the glass came crashing down; making her cover her face to avoid glass shards getting into her eyes. The glass barrier was gone and Squeaky saw his chance. With a maddening cackle, Squeaky Brains jumped through the broken window and made a run for the door. WordGirl opened her eyes in time to see him speeding around the corner; hearing him insult Tubing and the others on his way out. WordGirl immediately ran after the doctor; seeing the shocked henchmen with Huggy and Bosco hanging onto Tubing and his wheelchair.

"He's heading for the stairwell!" Tubing shouted out as he heard the laughter fading out through distance.

WordGirl immediately sped after Squeaky Brains with the MSE in hand; flying past some of the others departments on the floor before she reached the stairwell. The superhero looked down as she heard the Parasite rodent laughing from below.

"Squeaky ran away! Squeaky got away!" Squeaky loudly teased with a sing sung voice and laughed before exiting at the bottom of the stairwell.

WordGirl narrowed her brow and grunted as she jumped down the stairwell; floating just before she hit the ground as sped through the door that led to the police station on the first floor. The superhero managed to spot her target running and jumping over police to get to the door. Having no time to think about why the police were just standing there all stunned while one of Faircitys' villains was running around their station like a feral animal, WordGirl quickly spotted some rope from Amazing Rope Guy with his failed attempt at a robbery from earlier; immediately getting an idea.

"Sorry; need to borrow this!" WordGirl quickly said as she grabbed the rope and entered super speed; making a lasso and flying towards Squeaky with it in hand.

Like a cowboy going after a wild horse, WordGirl threw the lasso across the room, landing and tying around Squeaky Brains arms and chest as he tried to run out the door. Squeaky Brains grunted and squealed as he fell backwards onto his back; trying and failing to get back up as WordGirl rushed him and pinned him to the ground. Squeaky growled and snarled as WordGirl kept him struggling on the ground with one hand and turning on the MSE with the other.

"NO! SQUEAKY NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP!" Squeaky shouted and protested as struggled.

WordGirl narrowed her brow as she gave the rodent an angry glare.

"No! Squeaky go nighty night!" The superhero shouted back as she placed the device against the doctor's chest as the high-pitched sounds warmed up.

Squeaky went wide eyed as he continued to struggle; letting out a scream as his voice shifted back to Two Brains voice. Not too soon after, the mad doctor closed his eyes and fell back; breathing heavily as he laid still. WordGirl dropped the anger targeted at Squeaky and replaced it with concern for Dr Two Brains as she gently lifted his head and placed the lanyard around it; ensuring that Squeaky would not wake up again for now.

WordGirl let out a sigh of relief as Two Brains slowly opened his eyes; this time with a look of confusion instead of rabid insanity. The doctor lifted his head up slightly and looked around as his confusion grew.

"Wha-? What happened?" Two Brains questioned as he came too. "How'd I get outside and why am I tied up?"

"The devices' battery ran out and Squeaky took over while I was stopping a bank robbery." WordGirl explained straight forward.

Two Brains gave the superhero a wide-eyed stare of worry as he sat up.

"Oh cheddar; What did he do!?" The mouse brained doctor questioned; terrified at the thought of whatever Squeaky did in his place.

"Don't worry! Nothing happened." WordGirl tried to reassure the doctor as she placed a gently hand on his shoulder. "I mean, he did trash Tubing lab, but nobody get hurt."

"What about my henchmen?" Two Brains asked about his henchmen's well-being.

"They're okay; Squeaky didn't do anything to them."

WordGirl smiled a little as Two Brains let out a relived sigh; glad that Charlie and Joey were okay. But the superhero and the mad scientist quickly noticed that people were staring at them and gathering around; whispering and murmuring that Two Brains must have been committing a crime and WordGirl was stopping him.

"Uhhhh..." WordGirl muttered before she quickly came up with what to do; grabbing the lasso tied around Two Brains and lifting him off the ground. "I have got you, Dr Two Brains! That'll teach you to go... and commit cheese-based crimes!"

Two Brains almost raised a confused brow at the superhero and her sudden bad acting. But the doctor quickly caught on when he realised that civilians were watching and thinking WordGirl was doing her job as a superhero.

"Oh curses! Foiled again! You've captured me and ruined my plans again, WordGirl!" The mouse brained doctor played along with his own bad acting; getting a raised brow from WordGirl. "I was going to have a cheese bomb go off and turn the police station into a mound of mozzarella! But you've ruined it by capturing me!"

The pair watched and listened as the citizens watching began to cheer and clap for WordGirl; making Two Brains roll his eyes the other way with a grunt while WordGirl smiled and waved at the cheering bystanders.

"Yes! Now I will make you show me where you hid this bomb and then you're going straight to jail!" The superhero announced as she threw Two Brains over her shoulder and floating off the ground.

Just as the crowd cheered for their hero some more, WordGirl shot up into the sky and flew up out of sight; landing on the building's roof and gently putting Two Brains down.

"Sorry about that, doc. Had to make them think I was apprehending you." The superhero apologised as she loosened the lasso and took it off him.

"Don't worry about it." Two Brains replied as he fixed and straightened his shirt. "Can we get back to the lab from here or do you need to fly me there?"

WordGirl let a sigh of exhaustion from the thought of more flying; feeling like she needed a rest from all that happened in the last ten minutes.

"Let's just take the stairs." She said as she started walking towards the door to the stairwell; Two Brains following close behind.

The pair managed to make it back to Tubings lab in time to see the henchmen helping with cleaning the mess that Squeaky caused; making the doctor broke out in a mild sweat when he saw what his other brain did. Professor Tubing turned to face the pair with a relived smile as he wheeled over to them.

"Thank goodness you both made it back. I was worried the back-up MSE wasn't going to work." The wheelchair bound professor spoke with relief in his voice.

"Is the other one still working or is it broken?" WordGirl asked; not wanting something like this to happen again anytime soon.

"Yes; the battery just ran out. Bosco just plugged it into an outlet; so, it should be charged back up in half an hour."

While Professor was reassuring the superhero that the device was still in working condition, Two Brains guided himself to the sofa with a blank stare. As if he was on auto pilot. Everything around just seemed to go out of focus as sat down and just stared at a corner of the room; everything quieting down as he tried to think of what happened inside his mind when Squeaky took over. When he was stuck in the dark place.

"Boss?"

The mouse brained doctor quickly snapped out of his trance as he heard one of his henchmen call for him. He turned his head to his left to see Charlie and Joey giving him worried frowns; clearly concerned for their boss and his wellbeing.

"Are ya feeling okay?" Joey asked; hoping Squeaky did not him somehow while in control.

Two Brains blinked as he looked down at the floor and stared at his hands; wondering if they were still his.

"I can't fight off Squeaky anymore." The doctor spoke out loud for everyone to hear. "When the MSEs' battery ran out, I didn't even have any time to feel a headache coming on and I was gone in seconds. The mouse brain is too strong for me to fight off on my own now."

Everyone looked at Two Brains with wide eyes of concern when he said that. But his henchmen only looked at him with confused worry.

"What do ya mean, boss?" Joey asked; even though he and Charlie already knew the answer.

The mouse brained doctor blinked with a disheartened frown before looking up and facing everyone in the room.

"I mean Squeaky will have full control over me the second he gets the chance." Two Brains answered with the one thing he wished he did not have to say. "I... I can't keep him at bay without the device."

Everyone looked at the doctor with fearful stares; the weight of the situation dawning on them and making them fully realising what was at stake. WordGirl looked down with an unfocused stare as her thoughts began to race. What were they going to do now? What if the MSE ran out of batteries again and Squeaky took over? Before the superhero could linger on those thoughts any longer, professor Tubing spoke up.

"We better act quickly then." The professor spoke with a harsh tone; getting everyone's attention before continuing. "I'll have to call in a few favours. But I'll call the hospital and get a room and a time to perform the surgery in the next couple of days."

"What am I supposed to do until then?! Going back to the warehouse isn't the best option if the device is going to die on me!" Two Brains questioned with desperation in his voice.

Before he could question any further, Charlie and Joey tapped him on both shoulders; making him give them his full attention as he turned to face them.

"Charlie and I can make sure that doesn't happen, boss." Joey said as Charlie nodded in agreement. "Maybe Professor Tubing can let us stay in his lab until you get the operation done and we can keep a close eye on you. Like when one of the devices starts running out of juice, we can quickly swap it out for the other one."

Two Brains gave his henchmen a look of disheartening worry; knowing his henchmen were only trying to look out for him. But after what happened today, he felt like he was on his last legs. Professor Tubing chipped in as Bosco grabbed his phone and handed it to him to use.

"I would consider that a valid option. Usually, the hospital has a waiting period for certain procedures. But if I make the situation clear to them about how dire it is, we hopefully won't have to wait too long." The professor said as he dialled the number for the local hospital. "I'll go into the other room while I make this call."

WordGirl watched as Professor Tubing wheeled his way into the other room. The superhero thought about using her super hearing to listen to the conversation. But she quickly realised that it would only cause her more worry and threw the idea away.

"I guess we'll just got to hope for the best right now." WordGirl said as she sat down on the armrest of the sofa.

The superhero held her head up and looked to her right as Captain Huggyface let out a questioning squeak.

"I really don't know, Huggy. This whole situation is giving me a massive headache." The superhero said as she rubbed her temple.

"Welcome to my world, sister." Dr Two Brains said as he sank back into the sofa; staring up at the ceiling with a drained look on his face.

Dr Two Brains wanted to allow himself to wallow in self-pity; thinking it was what he truly deserved for trying such a dangerous experiment on that mouse all those years ago. Before he could linger on it any further, Two Brains felt Joey gently put a hand on his shoulder and listened as the henchman spoke.

"C'mon, boss. I know things might seem a little grim. But Charlie and I will be here to help you through it." Joey tried to reassure the mouse brained doctor with a little smile as Charlie nodded in agreement.

Captain Huggyface let out a few short reassuring squeaks as he nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, Doc. It's not like you're facing this alone. You've got us to back you up and pick you up when you need it." WordGirl added with her own smile of reassurance and words of encouragement.

Two Brains blinked with a mildly bewildered look on his face; not at all expecting to hear any of this. The mouse brained doctor sat up slightly as he wiped his nose with his sleeve; trying very hard not to tear up at the support he was getting out of nowhere.

"I don't know what I did to deserve you guys." The doctor said with a shaky laugh escaping him. "I could really use some love and support right about now."

"Then that's what you're getting, boss." Joey answered back as he threw his arms around the mouse brained doctor and hugged him.

Charlie quickly joined in and turned it into a group hug; leaving the doctor briefly startled before he composed himself and hugged both henchmen back. WordGirl and Huggy found themselves both smiling a little at the heart-warming sight; thinking about joining in.

But everyone quickly stopped and looked up when they heard the sound of Professor Tubings wheelchair speeding into the room.

"Everyone! I have good news!" Tubing announced; immediately getting everyone's attention.

"What happened, Professor?" WordGirl asked with anticipation.

"I just got off the phone with one of my colleagues at Fair city hospital! They said that we can fit Two Brains in for surgery prep tomorrow and perform the procedure the day after!" Tubing explained with a triumphant smile.

Joey and Charlie both smiled and celebrated as they hugged their boss; being one step closer to separating the man from the mouse brain. Two Brains had to keep himself from getting squashed between his henchmen as he asked Tubing a question.

"So, when am I going to the hospital? Do I need to bring anything?" Two Brains asked; wandering if he needed to bring stuff like pyjamas or his toothbrush.

"I'll let you and your boys go back and rest for the night at your hideout and get some spare clothes and whatever necessities you think you'll need for your stay at the hospital." Professor Tubing said before explaining further. "But I'll need you to come back to my lab at eight thirty tomorrow morning so the ambulance can come and pick you up from here. Then my colleagues can assess you, discuss how long you'll need to recover after the procedure and get you ready for surgery the day after."

Two Brains tried to keep his attention on Professor Tubings words as he continued to explain. But the doctor found himself zoning out; not even paying attention as everyone around him started celebrating what they considered a small victory.

While the mad doctor was glad he was one step closer to being free from Squeaky, a small part of him was quite nervous about the possibility that he could potentially be who he used to be again before the accident. He wanted it. He wanted to be Steven Boxleitner again. But something inside was eating at him.

What would he even do when it was over and done with? How was he going to adjust if the surgery goes as planned? These questions repeated in the doctor's mind. But one question stood out against the rest.

Was Steven still even in there?
