The longer Road.
Chapter seven
Tuesday April 19th. Training Ground 16. Nearly 0500.
The next day ,Team 16 were in Training Ground 16. And standing in front of their Sensei.
"So before we start the real training … I'll be testing Kimimaro and Hinata. To see what level their currently at...And Naruto-kun you're exempt, since I already know where you stand.
And Naruto nods.
"Yes, Hanae-sensei." The blond haired boy said.
"So Hinata-chan please step forward." Hanae ordered.
And Hinata nods and walked forward.
"Yes Hanae-sensei." And the Yuhi girl gives her Sensei a bow, and Then assumes her fighting stance.
Meanwhile Hanae stayed in a relaxed stance. But the Yuhi girl wasn't fooled.
Hinata's stance was narrow and high, and her hands were knife-like. With her left hand out and her right near her sternum. And it was a stance only Hanae recognized.
"Byakugan!" Hinata shouted, as she activated her Kekkei Genkai.
"YEAH. YOU CAN DO IT HINATA CHAN! DATTEBAYO!" Naruto cheered from the sidelines.
And Hinata smiled at her best friends encouragement.
'Thank you Naruto-kun!' Hinata thought to herself.
"This'll be Taijutsu only...Hinata-chan, are you ready?" Hanae asked.
And Hinata nodded.
"I am prepared."
"Then begin!" Hanae shouted.
And Hinata burst from her position in a blur of speed, as she attacked her Sensei with a brutal series of chakra enhanced punches and kicks. All of which Hanae easily dodged.
Hinata then went with a chakra enhanced, low kick to her Sensei's shin, and Hanae merely lift her leg. The Yuhi girl, then lashed out with a sidekick with the same leg. But Hanae deflected it.
Hinata then sent a series of chakra enhanced punches at her Sensei. And now Hanae, was actually deflecting and then redirecting the attacks from the young girl. And still using minimal amounts of movement.
"Yay. You're doing Awesome Hinata-chan! Give her the old one, two! Dattebayo!" Naruto cheered her on loudly.
Hinata ended her combo, with a chakra enhanced palm strike, and Hanae easily grabs the Yuhi girl's wrist, before her strike could land.
"I think I've seen enough...Excellent job Hinata-chan. " Hanae smiled.
As she let go of her student's hand.
And Hinata bowed.
"Thank you Hanae- sensei" Hinata smiles, "but I still have a lot to learn."
And Hanae nodded with a smile.
"I'm glad you have humility Hinata-chan."
Then Naruto ran up to Hinata and hugged her, "WOOHOO YOU WERE GREAT HINATA CHAN, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU… DATTEBAYO! Naruto screamed in excitement. As he spun her around. And Hinata blushed, and was getting a little dizzy from the spinning.
"Thank you Naruto-kun, but could you stop spinning meeee around pleaseee!" Hinata stuttered.
"Oh, Sorry Hinata chan, I got carried away." Naruto said sheepishly, as he put her down.
And Hinata smiled.
"It's ok." Hinata assured him.
And Hanae smiled at the scene.
"But man, you sure got strong Hinata-chan...You must've been training really hard over the years!" Dattebayo!" Naruto said loudly, with a wide smile on his face.
And Hinata was blushed harder at hearing her crushes praise.
"Thank you Naruto-kun."Hinata thanked, with a smile.
And Kimimaro nodded.
"I agree with Naruto-san...You're indeed strong Hinata-san. And I believe I would have a great difficulty, if I were to fight you. " The albino admits.
And Hinata nods, as her blush fades.
"Thank you as well, Kimimaro-san." The Yuhi girl thanked.
Hanae looked at her son, and smiled, "She's borderline or at Chunin level right now. And so is Kimimaro-kun for that matter...But don't worry Naruto -kun, we'll get you to that level soon enough... I will make sure of it."
And Naruto nods, with a bright smile.
Hanae then turned her attention to Kimimaro.
"Moving on... Kimimaro-kun, it's your turn, and you can use your bone weapons ... Come at me when ready." Hanae instructed, as she creates two blades of ice.
And Kimimaro nodded.
"As you wish Hanae-sensei." Kimimaro replied, "Tsubaki no Mai. " The albino whispered, as he created a bone sword out of his left arm. Which then hung limply at his side.
Then the albino dashed at his Sensei.
And after Hanae and Kimimaro sparred for several minutes. She called an end to the match.
Hanae smiled, having just effortlessly blocked a downward slash from the bone user.
"That's enough...And excellent job Kimimaro-kun."
And Kimimaro nods and rejoins his team.
"Alright team... The last thing for today. Is I'm going to test you and Hinata- chan for your chakra natures. Seeing as I've already tested my son, it's only fair I do the same for both of you" Hanae explained, with a smile.
And both Hinata and Kimimaro nodded.
As their Sensei pulled out two pieces of chakra paper. And gave one to Hinata and Kimimaro.
Though Hinata was curious about what chakra affinities Naruto-kun had.
"So what element do you have Naruto-kun?" Hinata asked curiously.
And Naruto smiled proudly at the Yuhi girl.
"I have wind, water and the Ice release bloodline! Dattebayo!" Naruto loudly said happily.
And Hinata squealed in happiness, and hugged Naruto tightly.
" Oh Naruto-kun I'm so happy for you." Hinata gushed.
Then she blushes crimson, upon realizing what she's did and suddenly let's him go. And moves ten feet away.
"Hmm… Interesting a team composed completely of bloodline users, and not for the sole purpose of controlling them." Kimimaro noted; before the albino gave a small smile, "And congratulations then Naruto-san. I can see possessing Ice release bloodline has brought you great joy…And I look forward to seeing how far you go with it." Kimimaro gives a tiny smile.
"Thanks Kimimaro, Hinata-chan…And I was hoping to somehow get it, since my Kaa-chan has it" Naruto smiled.
"Your Kaa-chan?" Kimimaro asked.
The albino knew there's only one person in Konoha who has Hyoton. And she's standing right in front of them…But she and the blond haired boy looked nothing alike.
'Perhaps Naruto-san takes after his father, instead of his mother…Hmm.' Kimimaro mused to himself.
And Hinata smiled, as Kimimaro overthought things.
"He was adopted by Hanae -sensei last week." The Yuhi girl explained.
"Ah…That makes senses." Kimimaro nodded.
Naruto merely grinned toothily.
"Anyways, back to the task at hand." Hanae interjected with an amused smile. And her prospective Genin immediately gave their Sensei their full attention, "Thank you… Anyways channel your chakra into the paper, and we'll see what affinities you're both aligned to."
And Hinata and Kimimaro did just that. Kimimaro's crinkles and Hinata's burned to ash and her flames were blue.
And Naruto cheered happily.
"So what elements do we have Hanae sensei?" Hinata asked.
"OH, OH… Can I tell them Hanae-sensei. Please, please…Dattebayo!" Naruto yelled excitedly.
And Hanae giggles, "Yes, you may Naruto-kun."
"Ahem...Ok… Hinata-chan, since your chakra paper burned. You have the fire affinity. Not sure why your flames are blue though... And Kimimaro, yours crinkled, so you have an affinity for lightning. That's pretty cool if you ask me. Since as a team, we nearly have all the basic elements! Dattebayo!" Naruto said enthusiastically.
Hanae stifled a giggle at her son's statement and decided to moved things along.
" And by the way, the reason Hinata-chan's fire is blue. Is because the strength of her fire affinity is abnormally strong."
And Naruto looked even more excited.
"So now that's been taken care of... Here's your training schedules... Keep in mind, these are just general guidelines. And I'll be switching things up as needed, from time to time." Hanae explained. As she handed out the training schedules to her students, which read.
Weekday Training schedule.
Warm up/ physical conditioning, 0500 until 0700 hours.
Chakra control, 0700 to 0945 hours.
Morning break 0945 to 1100 hours
Taijutsu sparring/teamwork drills 1100 to 1400 hours.
Lunch break 1400 to 1415
Weapon's practice 1415 to 1615 hours
Dinner break, 1615 to 1700 hours.
Individual training. Ninjutsu/ genjutsu/other, 1700 to 1900 hours
Cool down, 1900 to 1930 hours.
On Saturday's
Warm up 1200 to 1300
Teamwork drills /tactics and strategy 1300 to 1600
Sunday is your day off.
On Naruto's sheet there was a note with some additional info at the bottom.
'Naruto-kun, you'll be having three hundred clones doing chakra control and Ninjutsu practice throughout the day. So during scheduled chakra control practice and Ninjutsu practice. You'll have the option of sparring one on one with me, or working on something else.' With a smiley face at end of the note.
And Naruto whistled, "This is going to be tough."
To which Hinata and Kimimaro both nodded in agreement.
And Hanae smiles
"Indeed it'll be very hard Naruto-kun " Hanae agreed, "But I'm positive you're all up to the challenge."
Hanae then turned her attention to Kimimaro and Hinata," Also... Hinata, Kimimaro."
And this got both their attention.
"Yes Hanae-sensei" The two Genin hopefuls said.
" I'll be looking into getting you both secondary teachers. To help you with your Ninjutsu training; seeing as I'm not well versed in either the lightning or fire element." Hanae told them.
And Kimimaro and Hinata smiles gratefully
"Thank you Hanae-sensei." Both Hinata and Kimimaro thanked.
With Hinata giving her Sensei a smile.
And Hanae smiles back at the Yuhi girl.
"You're both very welcome...So any questions?"
When she didn't get a response after a few moments. The Uzumaki woman continued speaking, "Good. You're now dismissed for today, and for tomorrow we'll only be training from 10 to 1700 hours, but be here at 0500 sharp the next day… I'll see you all later." Hanae smiled, and then Shunshined away.
"I really need to learn that Jutsu…" Naruto muses out loud to his teammates, then he shrugs, "So, do you guys wanna do something fun together. Since we have the rest of the day off?" Naruto asked with a smile.
"What do you have in mind?" Kimimaro asked, and Hinata listens in curiously.
"Well…" Naruto began, with a foxy grin plastered on his face.

Naruto took a few minutes to explain his plan and Kimimaro was intetested.
"So a ninja version of hide and seek eh. It's a bit juvenile but I'm in. If only to see how you're going to hide in a bright orange outfit Naruto-san." Kimimaro smirked minutely.
"Hrumph…I'll have you know, that hiding in this outfit isn't as hard as you'd think…It's just that I usually don't want to hide." Naruto said indignantly, with his arms crossed.
"If you say so Naruto-san." Kimimaro smirked a bit wider.
Hinata smiled, "Don't worry; he has his ways…And I think you're going to be in for a shock."
"We will see." Kimimaro said confidently. And his tiny smirk still present.
"Oh and by the way, the last person standing in this clearing is it." Naruto sang, with his own smirk. As he disappeared via a body swap.
And a log falls to the ground in his place.
"Huh." Kimimaro said, startled. And then looks to Hinata, or where she had been standing a second earlier. "Well Shit." Kimimaro cursed. And sighing, Kimimaro and began counting.
1, 2 3...
'98, 99, 100' Kimimaro mentally counts. And then bone user, when to seek out his teammates.
Two hours later.
And Kimimaro was now almost annoyed. It's been two hours, and he couldn't even find a guy who wears bright orange.
"Ok, I yield...You both can come out now!" Kimimaro called out, and Naruto and Hinata came out of their hiding spots.
"You did pretty good Kimimaro-san; you even almost caught Naruto-kun a few times…And I think you would'vr easily found me. If you weren't so focused on getting Naruto-kun." Hinata smiled.
"Hmm… Well my doubts about your stealth skills have been put to rest, Naruto-san." Kimimaro said, with a small smile.
And Naruto smiled back, "Thanks…Anyways lets go grab a bite to eat. I'm getting hungry." Naruto said, as his stomach growled loudly in response.
And Hinata giggled, "Yes, I'm getting quite hungry myself."
"As am I." Kimimaro agreed.
"So can we go to Ichiraku's? Naruto pleaded.
"Sure we can go there…I wouldn't mind getting some ramen." Hinata replied.
And Kimimaro shrugged.
"I don't mind." Kimimaro stated.
"Alright then let's go." Naruto shouted and as one team 16 dashed off to get something to eat.
Five minutes later
Naruto, Kimimaro and Hinata were sitting on their stools waiting for the meals they ordered.
So tell us about yourself Kimimaro and your clan…That is, if you don't mind talking about it " Naruto asked suddenly; Hinata perked up. And turned to look at the white haired boy, with a curious look on her face.
'Hmm…What to tell them?' Kimimaro thought to himself, "My clan loved to fight and can be very savage as well as bloodthirsty in battle… Our bloodline made us very good at killing, and the best of us were nearly impossible to kill by the average shinobi…
"And we were actually very close, to foolishly charging in head first against the Mizukage. For how he discriminated against us bloodline users… If it weren't for the fools that beat us to the punch, and attempted to assassinate the Water Lord, his family, and the Mizukage. Long story short, I'm the last survivor of the Kaguya clan. That I'm aware of. With the rest of my clan dying in the civil war.
And both Naruto and Hinata frowned sadly.
"Oh, I'm sorry Kimimaro." Naruto said sadly.
"And I'm sorry." Hinata said equally sadly.
But Kimimaro waved off their apologies off. And gave his teammates a small smile.
"Thank you."
And a few minutes later
Ayame came out with their meals.
"Here's your meals everyone. Enjoy." Ayame said with a smile, and the three Genin thanked her and then digged in.
Half hour later.
After Naruto, Hinata and Kimimaro finished their meal; with the blond boy eating twenty large bowls of ramen compared to his teammates combine two.
Team 16 were now standing outside the ramen stand.
"Goodnight Kimimaro-san. And we'll see you again tomorrow." Hinata smiled.
"Yeah, bye Kimimaro. See ya tomorrow" Naruto called out; with a wide smile on his face.
"Farewell, and I'll see you both tomorrow." Kimimaro reciprocates with a small smile. And then turns and walks away.
And Naruto walks Hinata home.
The next day. Nearly 0900 hours.
Hanae knocked on the Hokage's office door.
"Enter." Came the muffled reply.
And Hanae walks in, and sees the Hokage doing paperwork.
The old Kage looked up, and smiled at Hanae.
"Ah Hanae-chan, is there something I can do for you today?" The Sandaime asked.
"Yes there is Hokage- sama." Hanae smiled.
The Sandaime smiled, "Please go on."
And Hanae nodded.
"There are few things I want to request Hokage-sama … Hanae began, "One, is I want to take on my Musuko as my apprentice...And two, is to get secondary teachers for Hinata-chan and Kimimaro-kun. That can train them in the fire element and lightning element respectively."
And the Sandaime nods, "That can easily be arranged, and I know the perfect candidates to train Kimimaro-kun and Hinata-chan."
Hanae smiled, "And who might they be?"
"And the Sandaime smiled back, " They are Anko and Hatake Kakashi... Kakashi-kun's pretty much, the best lightning chakra user we have in the village. While Anko-chan's an excellent fire chakra user. And is there anything else?"
And Hanae nodded.
"Only one more thing, I'd like to have Tenzo-san be there for Naruto-kun's training... In case the Kyubi tries to break free, while Naruto-kun uses clones for training. if that's possible" Hanae said seriously.
And the Sandaime nodded, with his face equally as serious, "Don't worry Tenzo'll be there ans make sure the Kyubi remains safely under lock and key."
0900 hours the Uzumaki residence.
Naruto was busy getting ready for the day. Naruto showered, got dressed and ate.
And he was just about to leave. When he saw his adoptive father heading towards him
"Bye Tou-chan! Dattebayo!" Naruto smiled widely.
And Iruka smiles at his son. As he walked over.
"Actually Musuko-kun, I'll walk you to your training ground. And that way I can spend time with you and say hi and I love you to your mom." Iruka ruffles his son's hair.
And Naruto smile widened
"Awesome. Let's go Tou-chan! Dattebayo!" Naruto exclaims excitedly, and takes his dad's hand.
And Iruka chuckles.
"Lead the way Musuko-kun." Iruka said.
And the father and son duo headed out.
Ten minutes later.
Naruto and Iruka walked into the Ground Training 16, and found that Hinata and Kimimaro were already there. And the blond Uzumaki jogged over to his team, and stood besides next to Hinata.
"Hey Hinata-chan, Kimimaro how's it going... Are you ready for training? Dattebayo! Naruto yelled excitedly, with a big smile.
And Iruka waved with a smile, "Hello Hinata-chan and Kimimaro-san. I hope you're both doing well today."
And Kimimaro and Hinata both smiled; though Kimimaro's smile was a small one.
"Hello Naruto-kun, Iruka-sensei. And I'm doing good …And how are you both doing today?" Hinata smiled.
"Hello Naruto-san, Iruka-sensei. I'm doing well, and I hope the same goes for you both." Kimimaro's greeted.
"I'm doing great! Dattebayo!" Naruto yelled enthusiastically.
And Hinata and Kimimaro smiled at the blond haired boy's enthusiasm.
Iruka smiled, "I'm doing good as well."
It was five minutes later, when Hanae arrived via Shunshin.
And after a shared morning greeting. A hug and a kiss, and a shared I love you. Iruka left via a Shunshin
Hane smiled.
"Alright, first off... An announcement, and then we'll begin today's training." Hanae declared. And after getting nods from her prospective Genin, she continued speaking. "Hinata-chan, Kimimaro-kun... My request for Ninjutsu tutors for you both, has been approved by Hokage-sama, with them arriving after supper. And if things go well, hopefully they'll take you both on as apprentices."
And Hinata frowned.
"But what about Naruto-kun Hanae-sensei? He's not going to be left out right?" Hinata asked worriedly.
And Hanae smiled at Yuhi girl, "Of course not Hinata- chan...I've already taken care of that, since my son's now my apprentice." And Hanae ruffles her son's hair
"Sweet! You're the best K... Sensei! Dattebayo!" Naruto cheered excitedly at being his mom's apprentice, and hugs his Kaa-chan.
And Hanae smiles, while giggling at his slip up. But hugs her son back.
So after that, Team 16 trained.
1725 hours.
Three puffs of smoke appeared in the field. Two were men and one was a female.
The first had Happuri style forehead protector, he had short brown hair and black eyes. He was wearing a blue long sleeved shirt and black pants that had white wrapping around the ankles and finally he wore opened toed blue shoes. He was also wearing a Jonin vest.
The second person had his nose in an orange book. He had gravity defying silver hair; and his lone visible eye was dark grey and was dull. His other eye was covered by his forehead protector. He wore a standard Jounin uniform. And he was wearing a blue mask, that covers most of his face.
Naruto glared at silver haired man.
"And it's nice to see you again to Naruto." The silver haired man said lazily. As he read his book.
Naruto just glared harder and was trying to reduce him to ash, with his eyeballs.
And the third, and final person. She had purple hair, styled in a spiky, fanned-out ponytail. She had light brown eyes. And she wore a fishnet shirt, a tan trenchcoat, a orange mini skirt and sandals.
And Hinata eyes widened at seeing her adoptive mother's best friend being here.
'So Anko-nee is going to be teaching me?' Hinata thought to herself excitedly
"Allow me to introduce you to Yamato, Hatake Kakashi, who Naruto-kun knows already and... Hanae said, but was interrupted by the purple haired woman
"And I'm the one and only Mitarashi Anko!" Anko smirked, "So come on Hina-imouto...Let's get going. So we can begin you're tor...I mean training?"
Hanae gave Anko a deadpan stare.
" Anko-san, don't go overboard with Hinata-chan's training. Am I clear!" Hanae warned, with a deadly glare.
And Anko scoffs.
"Yeah, yeah sure whatever." Anko shrugs carelessly, "So brat are you ready to go? Times a wasting you know."
And Hinata smiled gently, And knowing from experience what Anko-nee was like. So the Yuhi girl wasn't afraid.
" I am in your care then Anko-sensei." Hinata said respectfully, and without fear.
And Anko smirk widened.
"Alright let's go Imouto-chan." Anko grinned. And then they both vanished via Shunshin.
And Naruto sweat dropped.
"That woman's crazy, and I'm kind of worried about Hinata-chan now." Naruto said with a nervous gulp.
"Don't worry about, Hinata-chan Musuko, she'll be fine..."Hanae patted her son on his shoulder, 'At least I hope so... Maybe I should start teaching Naruto-kun the Mythical Palm Jutsu today, just in case.' Hanae added mentally, before turning to look at Kimimaro, "Kimimaro-kun, please tell me immediately, if Kakashi's ever late... And I'll set him straight for you."
And Kimimaro nodded, "Duly noted."
Kakashi eye-smiled, "You wound me Hanae-chan...And I'll have you know, that Sandaime-sama has threatened to confiscate my precious Icha- Icha collection. If I didn't take this kid's training seriously. So there'll be no tardiness from me, in this case." Kakashi placated.
And Hanae nodded calmly, " I'm glad hear that, but my threat still stands."
And Kakashi sighed, as he looked up from his book to address his new charge," "Ok follow me kid … We'll be training on the far end of this training ground." With that said, Kakashi walked away.
And Kimimaro wordlessly follows the silver haired man.
And Naruto, wondering why the third guy was here for. Spoke up.
"So who's this other guy, and why's he here Hanae-sensei?" Naruto asked, after his teammates left with their new Sensei's.
And Yamato was the one to answer, "As Hanae-san said, my name's Yamato...And I've been tasked with the mission to make sure the Kyubi doesn't try to break free...And before you ask I can suppress the Kyubi's chakra ,using my Mokuton. Which is the same bloodline ability that our Shodai Hokage possessed.
And Naruto nodded in understanding.
"Ok, if you have an ability like that... I guess it make sense, why Hokage-jiji wants you to supervise my training! Dattebayo!" Naruto said loudly, and smiling widely.
And Yamato nodded," Also, I know about you, and your childishly ways. So I should warn you. While I'm a laid back kind of guy, I have no problems ruling by fear. In order to keep you in line" And then Yamato's face took on a ghoul like appearance.
And Naruto trembled, as he struggled not to laugh, and Yamato mistakenly took the boy's trembling for fear and stopped making his face, "I'm glad we have an understanding Naruto- kun" Yamato said with a smile.
"Yeah, sure whatever you say Yamato- sensei." Naruto said dismissively, before turning to his Sensei. "So Hanae- sensei what'll we be doing first? Dattebayo!" The blond boy asked excitedly .
Meanwhile Yamato frowned
'So he wasn't afraid...Interesting.' And Yamato' train of thought was interrupted by Hanae speaking.
Hanae smiled at her son," I'll get to that in a moment Musuko, but please make three hundred shadow clones for me first."
"Right Hanae-sensei." Naruto smiled, as he formed the appropriate hand-seal.
And an instant later, three hundred clones materialized all around Naruto, Hanae and Yamato. And Yamato looked shocked.
Yamato whistled, "To make that many shadow clones, and not even look winded that's really is something."
"And that's not even scratching the surface of how many shadow clones he can truly make…Hanae smirked.
And Yamato nods in understanding.
Hanae then directed her attention to her son
" Ok, one hundred clones will be working on Taijutsu, then weapons training. Another one hundred will be working on the Mythical Palm healing Jutsu..."
And here Hanae smiled.
" As for your remaining clones. They'll be getting started on your elemental chakra training, and learning the first ice manipulation exercise. "

Author Note:
This story's still on Hiatus, because I'm not sure what I want to do with Naruto and Hinata's character. Or how strong I want them to become in the short term. All I know is I don't want to abandon this story.
Kimimaro's not as strong as he is in canon. And I'm sorry if that annoys some readers.
As for Hinata's being estimated at Chunin level. This only means she could defeat people like the Demon brothers, Mizuki or Iruka. Assuming she doesn't freeze up.
