Amber entered her room. She was exhausted. She seemed to have been exhausted multiple times since she arrived at the Annex. She closed the door behind her and just slid down it. She had no energy to even sit on the bed. She didn't even have the energy to cry. She's all cried out. But everything in the last hour caused her breath to hitch.

After 50 long years, she finally had her answer. Gal didn't just disappear. He didn't remember her at all. But seeing everything that had happened. Every important part of their relationship had her heart clenching so hard. It was no wonder that she broke down sobbing earlier.

Now she had to wonder what was next. Should she stay or leave? Did Gal, or rather Jenkins want her here? Why did the Library sent that letter? Is it because they wanted Jenkins to be fully whole?

Too many questions and so little answers.

She needed to make a decision before Jenkins could. It's possible he doesn't feel for her and might ask her to leave. Maybe it was best if she did leave.

Jenkins entered his room. He decided the laboratory wasn't the best place to process everything that happened. He was exhausted. So very tired. He sat on his bed and put his head in his hands.

Charlene…

Damn that woman. She took away the best six months of his life and he didn't even know it. He began to filter through his memories. He recalled the day he walked into that classroom and met that girl's eyes. The way her hair had framed her face and tumbled over her shoulders. That's what got him to sit next to her even though there were plenty of other empty seats around there. The class didn't really have that many students signed up.

He remembered the way her voice sounded musically. It reminded him of Arthur's Guinevere. Maybe that's why he was so attracted to this woman.

The teacher had assigned them to be partners on a research project. Ironically enough it was about Galahad. About himself except no-one knew that but himself. That was the tip of the iceberg that brought them together. While he was investigating the class, he was falling for her. So much so that he was willing to reveal who he was. He had never done that before in his thousands of years of life.

He must've loved her.

Even after the class had ended, even after not finding anything suspicious about the class, he stayed. For her. He wanted to live life outside the Library for the first time in a long time. Jenkins thought about that. That wasn't a feeling he had until now, until the memory.

He thought about their last day together. His heart clenched and tears pooled in his eyes. He wondered about the extreme reaction he was having. He stood up and went to the bathroom. He looked into the mirror and saw himself. He put a hand on his cheek. It was wet.

That surprised him. He doesn't cry.

That was then he realized how he truly felt about her. The love he had for Charlene was nothing compared to this one. With that realization, he wasn't sure what to do. How could he approach Amber and tell her. It had been 50 years for her. It was too long and maybe the love she had for him, for Gal is no more.

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. He dried his face off and left the bathroom. He opened the door and was greeted by the three young Librarians.

"Yes?"

Cassandra, standing in the middle between the other two, spoke up, "Why is Amber leaving?"

"What?" Jenkins asked. She was leaving…leaving him?

"No," Jenkins said as he barreled past the three. He ran through the main area and into the hallway. He stopped outside her door and slammed it open. The room was empty. Her stuff had been packed. She took it with her.

"Damn it!" Jenkins yelled. He ran through the hallway again to the entrance area. Once he reached the door, he pushed it open. Sunlight blinded him. When his vision cleared, he saw her struggling to walk to the car on the walkway.

"Amber!" Jenkins called out.

Amber, startled, dropped her bag and turned to the voice. She watched as he ran to her. He went up to her, swept her into his arms, bent her over and gave her a kiss on the lips. Amber was surprised. She pulled back to look at him.

"I'm not letting you go this time," Jenkins said.

Amber smiled, put her hands on his face and pulled him in for another kiss. She knew then that they had forever together.
