Chapter 3 (Academic Drama.)

Gotham academy. 8:51 AM. Gotham.

Looking at the school gates I scowled deeply. I really didn't want to be in this fucking place. Firstly, this school was in Gotham. It took me an hour to get here, everyone fucking knows Gotham is where bad shit goes to down. According to my memories, Gotham is apparently hell to live in because it's been carved up by the different gangs and supervillains, a literal cesspit of evil and insanity, with the police either ineffective or outright corrupt.

Secondly, it just seems so boring. Eh well, the system said I had to go but it didn't say anything about being a good student. I smirked at the thought of pissing off some teachers. Maybe it wouldn't be all that bad.

Slinging my bag over my right shoulder, I put the golden knife I was playing with in the limo inside my [Inventory] and opened the door and got out to see basically the whole student population staring at me. Yep, trust me, I don't know why the fuck I'm here either.

I should be training with my [Fire manipulation] right now or fucking around with [Enchant object.] I have some nice powers and multipliers but have no real training at the moment, all it would take is a guy with a gun who doesn't take their eyes off me and my second life would come to a sudden and unpleasant end, I'd wager I'm alot fucking faster than most, but I'm not fast enough to dodge a bullet yet. Ah, I'll deal with it later. This will give me some good EXP anyways so it's not a total loss.

It's only for today, thank God. I just have a sneaking suspicion that today isn't going to be a simple school day. I looked around as I walked through the entrance, everyone was whispering and staring at me. Fantastic.

I'm assuming it was to do with my less-than-subtle choice of transportation, which I did bring up to Tsubasa but she seemed to think any other vehicle was below me or whatever, I didn't really care enough to be honest so I just let it go.

She was acting much more affectionately than usual, probably due to my bold declaration last night if the massive blush she had when she ran off was any indication. Maybe she was trying to show her affections practically or perhaps she was trying to pamper me to distract me from her reaction. Either way, I didn't mind. Watching her big tits jiggle was the highlight of my day, fucking [Lust] perk. I'm pretty sure she noticed me looking.

I calmly made my way through the crowds of students flooding the old and obviously not well maintained gates that seemed a shove away from falling down. Some students opted to sneer at me and others just stared. Meanwhile, I was taking this opportunity to use [Observe] on everybody, hoping to get a grasp on the average human's strength.

The baseline for the average human in this place was between 10-20 points per stat and that meant I was probably above peak human, though I couldn't accurately measure peak human strength since I was surrounded by teenagers. I also noticed that everyone was really low level. Though I do suppose it was to be expected for teenagers.

I knew better than to assume everyone in this school would be normal. I may have been a rich lazy fuck but my dad was a business man and had basically drilled into me that I should never judge a book by it's cover.

Which was why I was currently spamming [Observe] on anyone who came in my general vicinity. I didn't want to be caught off guard and I was further on edge due to the system insisting on my attending school today and rightfully so, I was in Gotham afterall, you know the place that nearly gets destroyed every other week?

I was snapped out of my internal musings by a voice calling out to me.

"Katsu Ryoto?" A feminine voice called out. Making me turn around to address the person who had called out my name. A girl around my age with long chocolate brown hair, hazel eyes and a cute button nose looked at me with a bright smile. She had multiple books in her hands, which she held close to her modest chest. She looked adorable.

"Yes?" I asked her questionably. I was a bit confused about why she had randomly approached me. I quickly used [Observe] on her.

She looked relatively harmless and her physical stats were pretty low with her [STR] and [DEX] being at 8 and 13 respectively. I'm guessing she was sent here to show me to my new classroom, which was a surprise. I had assumed I would need to wander around for a bit to find my classroom. This would save me a lot of time. Her smile grew even bigger, if that was somehow possible.

"Hello! I'm Alisa Cornwell, I'm also the Vice President of the student council. I was sent here to show you to your classroom and give you this," she said exuberantly while handing me a piece of paper which I quickly scanned through and found was my timetable. I glanced back up to see her looking at me expectantly, probably waiting for me to introduce myself. Ah, I'll play along.

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Alisa. My name is Katsu Ryoto." I said, giving her a wink and a once over and then nodding appreciatively. I turned my eyes to hers, noting that her cheeks held a blush as her hazel eyes widened. She quickly brought up her hand and coughed as she regained her composure. She must not be used to such compliments, which I had to admit was extremely adorable.

"I-I thank you for your generous compliment, but as much as I would love to chat, we must be getting to your class soon. Class time is about to begin." She said regaining her smile and composure. Without waiting for my response she hastily turned around and started walking further into the school, all the students parting for her. Not needing to be told, I began strolling after her at a sedate pace with my hands in my pockets.

-Scene break-

Finally arriving outside the class, Alisa softly knocked and waited patiently. She turned and gave me a reassuring smile. Which nearly made me scoff. Does she really think I'm nervous about going to school with some weak teenagers? The classroom door was soon opened by a kind looking middle aged woman with brown hair. She gave Alisa a warm and fond smile.

"Well, hello there Alisa. What brings you to my classroom?" She asked Alisa with a cheerful smile. Alisa was practically beaming at the teacher as she went to go and speak. I used this chance to use [Observe] on her.

I scanned over the info and dismissed it quickly with a mental command. I focused back on Alisa who was currently introducing me.

"Hello, Mrs Martin. Sorry to disturb your class but I have a new student here, his name is Katsu Ryoto and he will be in your class." She said politely and gestured for me to step forward. Rolling my eyes I stepped forward and gave her a bored look. She raised an eyebrow at my behaviour but nonetheless invited me in with a smile.

I walked in and glanced around the room to see all the students looking at me. The boys were glaring and I was pretty sure most of the female population was checking me out with blushes on their faces. I guess that CHA boost made me look pretty good. I had checked other people's stats and the CHA stat was normally around 5-25, 5 being ugly with 25 being pretty cute. Unfortunately, most of the girls here were around the 13 mark with a few exceptions.

I ignored their stares and strolled to the front as Alisa and the teacher said their goodbyes to each other. Mrs Martin then walked up to the front.

"Students, this is Katsu Ryoto. He has recently joined our school and will be attending classes with you. Please treat him kindly." She said with a warm tone. The teacher turned towards me

"Anyways, where would you like to sit? I believe only the back seats are available."

I looked at her boredly and without answering went to the back and found an empty seat. Sitting down beside a random student I immediately zone out as the teacher starts the class, thankfully back in my previous life I had mastered the art of paying attention without actually paying attention. This shit is basically done on auto-pilot. I had better things to think about than playing the role of a student in some random school. I let my head lean back and relaxed.

I had been thinking lately about what I wanted to do. Of course, I was going to gain power but what else? I needed to build up my own wealth instead of leeching off an unreliable source of income and I had a few plans that involved my enchant ability which I would definitely have to look into levelling but what else could I do? I want to have fun and now I've got a goal.

I had to grin at my idea. Most people with my power would probably become heroes of some sort, joining up with the league and becoming strong to overcome the big bad villain but that just seemed so… boring. I had been given a new chance at life with one of if not the most overpowered and versatile power in fiction. I'm not going to become some goody-two-shoes and play by the boring rules set upon the world by some dick-eating politicians.

I was going to create the strongest group of villains in the city right under everyone's noses and no one would even know until it was too late. I'm going to become the strongest and classiest villain this world has ever been blessed with. I wanted my presence to inspire awe and respect among the masses. The thought sent shivers of excitement down my spine. It would take a lot of work and I would need more power but with the system, it would be possible. That was my new goal.

Even better, I was going to have fun doing it too.

-Scene break-

I was bored as all fuck. I had been to three classes so far and it was by far the most boring thing I had done since being reborn. Listening to these boring teachers drone on and on about nonsense was actually making me feel dumber by the second.

I was currently in my physics class with a physics book laid out in front of me. Well, I wasn't even looking at the book anymore, just staring out of the window hoping for some big alien invasion to happen so I could watch. But unfortunately, it seemed relatively quiet today.

If he thinks I'm doing fucking homework, he can go fuck himself. I knew most of it anyway. I had gotten multiple detentions, when I had decided to not even bother using my not-paying attention but looking like I am skill, then again, it might have been due to the fact I told the bio teacher to piss off when he tried to call me up but hey, tough shit.

I just wanted to leave this shithole and go train with my new powers, for someone who had a boring life of luxury and now had the ability to generate fucking fire. I was dying to try it out. The anticipation I felt in my chest served to piss me off even more. I was snapped out of my internal rant as a system quest popped up making me pause in confusion.

=

[Quest alert!]

Quest.

School shooting.

Objective: Gunmen have entered the campus. Find a way to escape alive.

Bonus Objective: Find and kill all the gunmen. (0/6)

Reward: 1000 EXP

Bonus Reward: 1500 EXP, 1 Gacha token.

Failure: Death!

[Accept/Decline]

"Wha-" just before I could voice my confusion, the sound of gunfire permeated around the school campus. There was a brief silence before an alarm rang and everyone started to panic. Students were packing their bags running out the door while others opted to smash the windows and escape.

It took me seconds to realise that the school was under attack. Glancing back up to the [Quest] I press accept without further hesitation. Well, this is certainly interesting. It seemed like I had let my guard down, honestly, I had expected something to happen and the system forcing me to accept the quest was way too fishy, but I had to admit I hadn't expected it to be a fucking school shooting.

Bit much for my second day here don't you think, system? When I got no response I sighed and ran a hand through my hair as everyone evacuated the class with the sounds of gunfire becoming more periodic and louder. I merely rolled my eyes at the shouts and cries ringing through the school campus.

Seriously, it's like they want to be fucking shot with all the screaming their doing. Looking around the now empty classroom with the desks all over the place from the panic and the bags that were left behind, I decided it was probably time to go. I had waited for the panic to die down. Idiots, all of them leaving in such a rush causes more mistakes. I doubt half of them realised they were running towards the gunmen when they left.

I had two options now. I could play it safe and run away from the gunmen and gain 1000 EXP and the extra 500 EXP from the school quest. It's not ideal but it's safe and I'm nowhere near strong enough to tank a bullet to the chest. I may be able to control fire but that wouldn't save me from a bullet.

My second option was to risk it for the extra rewards. While I wasn't quite familiar with these so-called gacha tokens, I had a pretty good idea about what they were used for. That, along with the 1500 EXP I would get on top of the other two rewards would make me level up massively. Of course, that was at the cost of fighting six gunmen.

Now the most logical and safe option would be number one. Any smart person would choose that, bite down their pride and make a safe escape with the knowledge that they would be able to survive another day, especially so soon after their reincarnation.

Unfortunately, I was not that kind of person. Running away like some sort of scared civilian pussy pissed me off, and the rewards were making my [Greed] trait act up, the thought of losing such valuable rewards pissed me off even more. Don't get me wrong, if this was a fight against Superman or someone who I had no chance against I would bite down my pride and greed and fuck off before anyone would be the wiser, but these weren't heroes, they were normal gunmen and that meant they were much more kill-able.

To be quite honest. A real supervillain wouldn't bother shooting up a school. They'd just blow it up or something. This meant the shooter was probably a teenager or an inexperienced group of criminals. Either way, I had [Observe] to help me figure that out. Plus it wouldn't hurt to go and at least see who the attackers were. I would use my [Observe] skill and if they were someone too strong or even high-levelled I could just turn around and dip.

No harm in at least checking and it's not like I'm defenceless. I took the knife out of my pocket and swung it around a bit before deciding to sneak out. Just as I got up I heard footsteps and noticed that the gunfire had died down, now replaced with a deafening silence. Sneaking closer to the classroom door I take cover beside the door with my knife at the ready just as I get a notification.

I quickly scanned over the new skill and grinned. This would be useful for the future. The door suddenly opened with a kick alerting me of an intruder. When I spotted the tip of a gun peek through the door, an unexplainable excitement blossomed in my chest and raged around, making me vibrate with energy. Just as he took a step through the door, I turned the corner and grabbed the gun and in one swift movement I swung my dagger at his neck and watched in awe as it cut through without any resistance. His eyes widened and I used this chance to use [Observe]

I immediately pulled him in and ripped away the gun from his hands. He looked at me in shock and before he could speak I covered his mouth and proceeded to stab him in the chest. Blood was gushing everywhere and he was desperately trying to move but his strength was leaving him rapidly. I pulled out the knife and looked down at him with a slightly crazed smile as I watched the fear in his eyes.

"What's the matter?, You seem to be fine with killing people, can't you take a little death yourself?" I said to him in a mocking manner. I plunged the knife once more into his heart, slightly surprised at the lack of resistance and twisted it painfully and watched as the light in his eyes faded.

My first kill and I strangely felt nothing. I mean, the adrenaline coursing through me was incredible but I had expected to be hesitant when killing someone due to the fact everyone always says shit about how traumatic taking a life was and all but looking at it now that all just felt like bullshit to me. Or maybe it was my [Remorseless] perk at play.

[No, while that probably did help, I just think you've always been a bit of a sociopath, looking at your memories here.]

I honestly didn't really care either way. It would only help with my goal at the end of the day. Shrugging and dropping the body onto the ground I picked up the AR he had and looked down at his body and saw a pistol holder with a Glock in it.

Ping!

I quickly swept away the notification that had popped up, I didn't have time to look through it right now. Shrugging, I removed the holder and attached it to my thigh. "Yo, Roy the fuck you at man?" I heard a voice call out from down the hall as multiple footsteps approached. Perfect. I opened the door and peeked around the corner watching as two teenagers started walking towards me with their guns lowered.

I walked out and aimed my AR at them making their eyes widen in fear and panic and promptly shot them with full auto, unleashing a hail of bullets, half of them hit their targets making both boys fall to the ground lifelessly. I felt no remorse at taking their lives, only amusement and excitement. Which made me want to do more. Maybe I was a sadist at heart? Who cares at this point, I was having fucking fun.

Hearing a set of footsteps approaching, I ran over to some lockers and hid in the shadows. A ginger haired teenager entered my line of sight and paused before gaping in shock at his dead friends. He looked around frantically with his gun raised and cried out in pain as I shot him once in each leg. He fell down with a whimper and dropped his gun on the floor and grabbed his injured legs in pain. I ran up to him and kicked the gun away from him and dragged him into the classroom that had my physics lessons a while ago. I used [Observe] on him.

Is this guy retarded or something? 5 MTL? Giving him a once over I confirm that this guy must be some sort of retard.

"P-please don't hurt me, I'm so sorry." He cried out pitifully. "I-I p-promise I won't do I-it ever again. I swear!" He cried out. I looked at him once and burst out laughing.

"What a pitiful little fuck you are." I mocked him, looking down at him and making a mock thinking pose, I said, "Ok, fine, how about you beg for mercy and I won't shoot you." I said with a straight face. He looked up at me in hope and surprise, and rapidly nodded.

"Please, give me one more chance. Don't shoot me, I'll do whatever you want, I have money in my pocket I took from the other students, here take it." He said with a pleading tone while taking a stack of cash out of his pocket. I gave him a smile and raised my hand.

"Much obliged." I said to him and flames enveloped my hands before I sent a roaring ball of fire the size of a basketball at his face and watched with fascination as it landed and enveloped his face. His cries could be heard across the whole campus before they died down. Glancing down I checked my MP bar and noticed that I was missing a hundred points of mana.

A hundred mana for a simple fireball seems kinda pricey but glancing back at the roaring fire that was currently burning the kid into nothingness before me, I shrugged. Seems worth it to me.

Stretching my back and groaning as I felt my joints pop with a crack, I let out a loud sigh and turned around towards the door. Right, only two more idiots to dispose of and I can finally leave this shithole.

I had been here for too long just to finish this stupid quest. While waiting for everything to quiet down so I wouldn't have any interruptions was a sound strategy, it had taken a while for everything to actually calm down. I'm just glad these guys were normal teenagers. Considering this is the DC universe, it was a small blessing I could appreciate. Wouldn't have done any good to have to fight some killer meta with bullshit powers at my level.

I was pretty certain that the fifth and sixth shooter heard the noise when I slaughtered their friends and were more prepared than their buddies, but I'm so above them in stats that I wasn't too worried.

I'm seriously glad this shithole has no cameras or I would be on another level of fucked. Even if it could be counted as self-defence, I had just murdered four people without pause and in cold blood without a shred of remorse and just incinerated one of them even after capture. I don't see the issue but I'm sure the Edge-Lord dressed as a bat would have a problem. Which I was not ready for, in any shape or form.

Ah, well. I better go find this last guy so I can finally go home and start training my skills.

-Scene break-

I felt my eye twitching as I snuck past one more corner looking for the last two targets only to find a hallway full of dead bodies once more. I was honestly surprised at how long it was taking the police to respond to a school being shot up but then again I was in Gotham. Even so, I expected them to arrive soon and it was making me start to rush. I had been slowly and cautiously making my way around the school trying to find the current pains in my ass but to no avail.

As I passed another corner I stumbled over something and glanced down to see a familiar pair of hazel eyes that were now lifeless gazing up at me. Her long chocolate brown hair was covered in blood. Alisa Cornwell.

'Hm, a shame,' I frowned slightly but proceeded to move on, I actually liked her, mostly because I wanted to fuck her but still. Killing these school shooters just got a bit more personal, I was honestly starting to get pissed off with this whole situation and was severely tempted to just burn the whole school down, until I finally heard loud footsteps indicating the arrival of someone.

Walking down the end of the long hallway was a teenager wearing a black hoodie with black jeans and massive boots that made a loud thud every time he stepped forwards. He had rugged black hair with cold green eyes and a face that had multiple scars. In his hand he carried a large army knife which he was currently playing around with in his hand. He stopped a few dozen metres away from me. He had another buddy trailing along behind him.

"Well, it's about fucking time." I said with exasperation lacing my voice. About time this kid appeared. The boy in front of me raised an eyebrow and gave me a smug smile.

"I'm guessing you're the reason none of my subordinates have returned?" He asked with a hum.

"I suppose it doesn't matter after all, I'm still going to kill you either way." He said with a cocky tone and a psychotic smile. Yup, first day here and I've already encountered a psycho emo dude who should probably be locked up in Arkham. This is definitely Gotham alright.

"Hm, I suppose you are wondering why I'm doing th-" he was about to give a classic villain monologue and I simply didn't care enough to listen. This dude literally meant nothing to me. I've killed four people today and have felt absolutely nothing. No fear, no disgust. My first kill. And I didn't feel a thing.

I don't know if it was the result of the system or me just not caring but I had no desire to find out. Raising the gun I had stolen, I aimed at his chest and fired three rounds and in a smooth motion, fired three rounds at the guy behind him as well. The resounding bangs echoed across the entire campus.

My eyes widen slightly as I see a green translucent shield materialise in front of him and make the bullet bounce off it with a spark, it landed on the ground before him harmlessly. Of course, this guy is a metahuman. It's fucking DC. At least the one behind him was dead. Quickly getting over my shock I used [Observe] on him.

Hm, I see. So this guy has access to this different type of energy bar, I'm assuming all beings who have some sort of power have access to an energy bar. Interesting. Still won't save him though, what with that weak-ass grunt-level of power.

Without further thought, I raised my arm towards him, making him look at me with slight curiosity and a cocky smirk as if what I was doing was amusing. That cocky grin was wiped off his face as he saw a big ball of wild chaotic golden fire begin to form in my hand, seemingly making an effort to spread and devour everything around it. I took a moment to admire the intense heat coming from it and the power that came with it.

Oddly enough the intense heat emitted from the fireball didn't burn me and instead felt kind of comfortable in my hands.

All of this happened less then a second or two and I noticed that I could actually feel my mana going into the ball of fire. I looked at him and with a crazed grin, and fired it towards him, sending a burst of air outwards in front of the fire-ball. He saw the ball fly out of my hands and with fear clearly reflecting in his eyes, he put up both of his hands and erected a barrier that was much brighter than the previous one. I assumed he used quite a bit of energy on it.

The fireball that was about to fucking destroy this cocky dickhead was much larger than the previous one and a quick glance showed me I had used double the mana without realising it. I'm guessing my powers rely on intent to fuel them, which I would need to be careful about controlling. Wouldn't want to accidentally vaporise the school.

I watched with awe as this Jack Miles visibly braced himself and the fireball exploded onto the green barrier and pushed him backwards. The barrier started cracking and let little holes of fire bleed through, burning his hands and drawing an agonised scream from his lips in the process, with great effort he managed to push the barrier to the side, making the fireball slide off and impact the wall behind him with a boom.

I wondered if there was a difference between my fire and normal fire, since I was pretty sure that fire wasn't meant to spread that quickly, it seemed almost hungry. I was snapped out of my thoughts as an angry and slightly tired voice started bellowing at me.

"I'm going to fucking rip your head off!" He roared after taking a few laboured breaths. The attack must have forced him to use a lot of energy. It was to be expected after all, he's a grunt level fool an- ah fuck, I think I just started a massive fire. Whoops.

My focus returned to him as he growled at my lack of care towards him and suddenly pulled out a glock from under his shirt. I scowled. I had gotten too caught up in admiring my new abilities, I should have just blasted him again. I didn't think he had a gun on him but looking at it now that was a foolish assumption.

Oh well, since I don't feel like being shot and potentially killed if it hits a vital organ (though I'm pretty sure [Gamer's Body] would help me survive) I'm just going to kill him. I can test my abilities out later and I think I can hear sirens. It would seem the police finally decided to arrive.

"Tch, I don't have time for small fry like you." I said to him, as his eyes almost seemed to bulge in rage at my taunt. I charge at him as he starts to raise his gun. I raise my arm and fire a low powered stream of fire. Forcing him to duck under it gave me the time to reach him before he could aim his weapon. Raising my left arm I slap away the gun and go for a right hook to his chin only to be blocked by a barrier mid-punch which made me scowl.

With my punch blocked he raised his left knee and tried to deliver it to my stomach, I quickly spun to the side narrowly avoiding it and retaliated with a left jab hoping to catch him off guard only for my fist to meet his barrier again. Glancing at his EP, I see that my punches were steadily draining him.

Focusing back on my opponent I easily duck under another punch. This was honestly pretty easy. It also probably helps that this guy seems shit at fighting but I could see why he would be a little cocky. His power would be a pain in the ass for any normal person, he was still a bit cocky for someone with a power that had no offensive capabilities. Raising my left arm I sent a short burst of fire making him panic slightly and he hastily created another barrier.

Looking back at him I received a boot to the face, which barely made me move. My strength and endurance was higher than his by a large margin. I would be surprised if his attack actually hurt. Instead of charging after me, I watched in annoyance as he turned around and ran over to the gun on the floor. Cheater, unfortunately for him it would be his last action in this world. Taking the opportunity of his distraction I raise my arm and form an attack.

I put 25% of my mana into my next attack and watched it start to charge. He picked up the gun and turned towards me with a victorious grin but before he could even aim, a huge beam of fire erupted from my hand and shot at him, he put up another barrier noticeably dimmer than the previous one, my attack slammed into it and made it shatter almost instantaneously.

I watched with morbid curiosity as the fire blasted through it and melted his face and upper body, showing burnt bones and scorched eye sockets, making for a rather gory site. The stream of fire hit the back of the wall with a boom, shattering the windows and started to spread unnaturally. This definitely wasn't normal fire, which was pretty obvious since it was likely a fire-Gods flames, really need to find out who my mom is.

Quickly running down the school hallway I glanced outside to see a dozen or so police cars arriving, clicking my tongue in annoyance, I made a break for the back of the campus only to find more police cars arriving. Fuck my luck.

Looking around I glance to the left and see a fence leading out the back. Shrugging, I ran like a madman and jumped over the fence with reckless abandon not bothering to look back. I went through some shady back alleys between buildings until I found myself on a Main Street full of people walking around.

Luckily the place seems to be in the slums of Gotham. Well, most of Gotham is basically a slum but looking around I couldn't see any signs of cameras so I decided to quickly get the fuck out of this cursed city.

-Scene break-

I had been walking for over two hours in constant paranoia. Whether that be from the police or some random mugger but luckily I was able to exit Gotham with relative ease. Seeing a clearing and noticing nobody around, I decided to take a break and check my notifications.

"Oi Game. Why the fuck did you force me to accept that quest. If you think I'm going to let you yank me around like a dog on a leash, then you can go fuck yourself." I said with a scowl, I would really rather be at the mansion playing around with my skills, or fucking one of my maids, preferably Tsubasa right now.

[No need to worry, host. Think of this as an introduction of sorts to test if you were worthy of wielding the system, if you died even with the advantages of your race and the system, then we would've looked for a new host, but since you didn't, you are free to play the Game as you wish, there will be no more auto-accepted quests.]

I sighed in relief, the thought of being led around by the system was pissing me off. I didn't die and reincarnate in a world full of bullshit powers with the fucking Gamer system just to be yanked around by some sort of sentient AI latched onto my soul. My usually snarky system had no reply to that, so I shrugged and decided it was about time to head home. I had been out for too long, not that my dear old dad gave a fuck.

Opening my phone, I was about to search for the Google maps equivalent in this world but was interrupted by the sounds of notifications. Glancing down, I saw the message app with a red symbol above it with the numbers 67. Confused, I wondered who the fuck was spamming my messages.

Entering the app I frowned at the messages from Tsubasa with slight curiosity. My eyes widened shortly afterwards when I saw what it was, '67 unread messages… what the fuck?!'

I immediately realised they were not from different people, but all from a single individual.

The messages just kept going on and on. Each message got more and more desperate and crazy. She even started to send me offers, thinking I was hiding from her and her messages kept going from sad to depressed to angry like she couldn't decide which to pick. I had over 24 missed calls. All the while I could only read them flabbergasted by my kind beautiful maid suddenly acting so possessive and unhinged.

"…."

"The fuck is going on with her?"

-Nightwing POV-

It was currently evening time as Nightwing, aka Richard John "Dick" Grayson could be seen on one of his standard patrols. He had just finished detaining some low-class criminals who had decided to steal an elderly lady's purse. The two of them thought they would get away with it due to the common misconception that the bat family only came out at night, which amused him, the idiocy of criminals never got old.

He tended to find more petty crime happening during the daytime all thanks to the infamous name of the mighty Batman, the Dark Knight. He chuckled slightly and shook his head. It made him laugh at how people thought Batman was some sort of omnipresent hero in Gotham and while he had access to many cameras, satellites and a lot of different types of technology due to his wealth and genius, he couldn't be everywhere.

He got back into his favourite vehicle, the Night-Bird and sighed with contentment, the material of the seat was made for a combination of comfort and utility. The Night-Bird was a customised sport coupé that was built by Nightwing himself. The vehicle was built with many of the same hi-tech extras as the Batmobile. One of the vehicle's most notable assets was the chassis locking clamps that were built so that the car can be fitted with interchangeable body shells, providing changing disguises such as a taxi, a station wagon or a police cruiser.

Other armaments included a Nomex windshield and ceramic body coating that could tank anything up to a .50 calibre bullet and absorb the impact, so it wouldn't cause ricochets that might hit pedestrians.

Taking off at a moderate speed, he turned on the police radio scanner. A device that allowed him to listen in on the activity of the Gotham City Police Department. It was a fairly relaxed day as none of the big shot villains decided to make an appearance today, with no escapes from Arkham… yet, only a few thugs mugging unlucky civilians with a robbery here and there, meaning less work, which Nightwing was pleased to have.

"Dispatch, we have word on an active 10-71 currently taking place at Gotham Academy. Requesting backup."

Nightwing scowled deeply, he had jinxed himself. A school shooting was going on at Gotham Academy. Unfortunately, this wasn't an uncommon occurrence as it wasn't hard to purchase firearms in Gotham, knowing innocent students were currently running for their lives made his blood boil and the worst thing was, a school shooting almost always ended with multiple dead students, literal children.

Putting his foot on the pedal he rapidly sped up. It would take him a while to reach Gotham Academy with how big Gotham City was and unfortunately no other heroes were currently available. Zooming through the city with a scowl plastered on his face, it was only ten minutes later that he heard something on the radio regarding the shooting that alarmed him.

"Dispatch we have a civilian lady causing a commotion. Description, brown hai-"

The radio cut off before the police officer could finish what he was saying, replaced with an ominous buzzing sound as the radio went dead quiet for a few seconds before it came back.

"OFFICER DOWN, I need back up. We have multiple 10-53's. Opening fire. *BANG* *BANG* We're under attack by a meta. Oh god, she's killing everyone. What is she? Please no-ack."

Nightwing immediately slammed down on the pedal, uncaring of the downright reckless speed he was travelling at. It was obvious something big was happening and he needed to get there before more people were hurt or killed. It took him twenty minutes of harsh reckless driving to arrive. Slowing down, he quickly parked his vehicle nearby in a secluded location disguised as a normal car. Doing a once over of himself and making sure he had all his gadgets he ran to the scene. When he arrived, he was met with a sight that made his blood freeze.

Dozens of police cars lay in ruin, their metal twisted and crumpled as if they had been crushed by some monstrous force. The surrounding area was torn apart, with debris scattered everywhere and the school building itself was visibly damaged, but what enraged him most of all was the many scattered police corpses that were ripped apart, limbs strewn about and officers seemingly brutalised by some monster.

"This won't go unpunished," Nightwing growled in anger, his fists clenched.

He surveyed the area, searching for any clues as to who could have caused this destruction. He noticed corrosion marks on the ground, evidence of some sort of corrosive power. His mind raced as he tried to piece together what happened. Nightwing, deciding to move on, went through the damaged school entrance with cautious steps, his senses alert for any sign of danger. He knew that whoever caused this destruction was likely still nearby, and he was prepared for anything. His trained eyes scanned the corridors.

He noticed that the school was eerily quiet. There were no signs of life, no movement or sound. But the damage was apparent, with bodies scattered everywhere and the walls and floor visibly covered in blood, it was a massacre.

His anger flared up as he saw the bodies scattered around, evidence of the shooting that occurred. He moved through the school, his eyes scanning for any signs of the shooter or whoever caused the damage outside.

Some of his questions were answered as he came across a corpse with a gun holster attached to the side with the gun still in the holster, notifying him that someone had killed one of the school shooters. He walked through one of the classroom doors, a trail of blood leading through it and frowned when he saw more teenagers geared out with what seemed to be weapons. Making him suspect that someone had taken out all the shooters.

Was it the person who caused the damage outside? Unlikely, whoever had killed the shooters was likely a member of the faculty or a student. The killer wouldn't have bothered attacking the police after killing the shooters, more than likely would have fled the second they arrived. He couldn't be sure though, since unfortunately this was one of the poorer schools and as such they had no cameras that would be able to show him what had taken place.

Moving on, Nightwing came across a scorched hallway that had been heavily damaged with fire, making everything around it reminiscent of blackened charcoal, evidence of some sort of explosion or maybe a flamethrower, maybe even another meta?

The meta outside had displayed corrosive powers of some sort and superhuman strength, and he had already concluded that this meta and the other meta couldn't be the same people. This had likely happened before the police arrived, due to no mention of flames on the radio.

He went through countless possibilities as to who or what could have caused such destruction. It was obvious now that two metas were involved from the destruction both outside and inside.

In the middle of the ruined hallway he spotted a blackened skeleton. A male, judging by the bone structure, he had been in the metas way and had paid the price, likely another one of the shooters.

Thinking for a while, he concluded without doubt that two meta-humans were the cause of this, one with some sort of corrosive ability and enhanced strength or a power that produced a similar effect and the other with some sort of explosion or fire manipulation. He suspected the fire wielding meta was a student that was in the middle of the school shooting and used his or her powers to take out the other shooters and a friend or maybe a family member came to rescue him.

If he remembered correctly, the police had reported a female with brown hair causing a commotion, she would only approach them in that way if she had to get past them to get inside, and why else would anyone come to a school that had been shot up, than to save someone on the inside? The fact that she had first attempted to speak to the officers indicated that they themselves weren't her target. Although, the rapid jump to violence when not getting her way, was a sign that she was likely a villain or whoever was inside meant a great deal to her, possibly both.

That would be his main lead. Defence or not this was murder and he wouldn't let whoever did this get away with it. Especially that other meta, murdering so many innocent policemen for no reason other than impatience couldn't go unpunished.

When he went back, he would scan his own files, as well as the polices, and Leagues files for any female brown-haired metas documented with corrosive powers, as well as get a record of all students and faculty of this school to see if he could narrow it down any further, he'd also take some samples from the dead shooters and skeletons to ID them as well. It was unfortunate that he couldn't get a full description of the lady but he could work with this. He had caught criminals with less information before.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a glint of gold making his head tilt towards it, walking over to it he saw a golden knife. The blade was coated with some sort of red energy that he didn't recognize, maybe magic of some sort?

Carefully picking it up with a pair of gloves before placing it in an evidence bag, Nightwing resolved to run some prints on it to see if he could ID the owner, maybe the fire user wasn't a meta at all but rather a magic user? Or at least had ties to one?

If this was truly magic coating the blade than that seemed the more likely conclusion, he'd have to call upon Zatanna to confirm his hypothesis before jumping to any conclusions. The blade was evidently extremely sharp.

Nightwing continued his investigation, remaining cautious and alert, years of training and experience as a hero making him know that danger could still be lurking around every corner. But he was determined to find out what happened and he would bring those responsible to justice. One way or another.

-END-

coldpyr0: My bad dude, I was just doing edits, I had no idea people were getting notifications about it. Hope you'll stick around!

coldpyr0: I get what you you mean, but he ain't a street thug level character anymore since the race change but I get what you mean lol, the forced quest was honestly just a way to get him involved with the verse and to get some heroes sniffing around him, otherwise he would've just hidden and gained power too easily, this introduces some pressure on him, so that's why I did it. No worries though, won't be happening again.

TrumpasaurusRex: Eh, I've seen it done and I thought why not, it seemed like a way to end the chap, I'll admit it's a troupe but I don't think it's that big of a deal. You must read some pretty dull fics than mate, majority of the fics I've read have something of a sassy and/or sentient system. Ever heard of The Dark Wolf Shiro? Do some exploring, it's a big site. On the yandere character, most seem to like it, and besides this is DC, crazy females are pretty common, you must hate DC then, in which case I'd ask why you even clicked on lol.

Julius-Black: I've switched up the race and stuff and reworked some stuff since people were saying it's similar to another fic, this was the original idea anyways so it's cool I guess, glad you like it!

Death-Fury: Thank you!

spiderfan: I'll keep that in mind.

delarosaromeroalberto: Thank you!

Jojolucker: Thanks mate.

Uday-Sra: Thank you!

Bunny: Yeah that wasn't the intention, I had read a fic a long time ago that had a similar race so I wasn't copying Malcom but rather another authors race choice lol, anyways I've changed it to Demi-God which was what I was going to do originally anyways.

zerofang666: Yanderes are the best, a man of culture I see.

soupking: It's coming my dude!

I hope that answered some of your questions. Lmk your thoughts in the reviews, catch you in the next chap.
