Chapter 28: Moving forward

A/N: Thanks for all the reviews!

Izuku rubbed his eyes sleepily as he walked out of his bedroom for breakfast, "DAD!" He exclaimed, seeing his father sitting at the dining table. It had become a rare occurrence for Izuku to see his father at breakfast due to Hisashi's workload.

"Thought I'd stay for a bit longer today to check up on you," Hisashi grinned, seeing his son's excitement.

"Well, I do have some news," Izuku said as he sat down.

"What news?"

Izuku looked around for his mother, and having ensured she wasn't listening, whispered, "I think I know who has One for All."

Hisashi looked surprised, "You do?"

Izuku nodded, "I think it's Aizawa sensei!"

Hisashi looked at his son like he'd gone mad, "What?"

"Aizawa-sensei! I mean, think about it. His quirk can directly nullify All for One. He said that many people call his quirk none for all, and maybe he's so sleepy cuz he's been alive for so long!" Izuku noted down all the points.

Hisashi considered the facts. What Izuku said did make some logical sense. And Nedzu had said that he trusted the person with One for All. Maybe Aizawa was that person? "It could be," Hisashi admitted, "But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense logically. Rather, it feels like you connected a few coincidental statements. By this logic, you could find dozens of people who fit that bill."

"That's true," Izuku had to admit, "But I thought None for All would have something to do with One for All,"

"It might," Hisashi replied, "But I think such a strong quirk would have been snatched by All for One immediately. Robin did say One for All was the younger brother, so I am pretty sure All for One would have taken the quirk when his brother was a child."

"But maybe Erasure would protect from All for One's quirk while he was a baby," Izuku argued.

Hisashi had to acknowledge that point.

"And wouldn't your point be true for most strong quirks?" Izuku asked.

Hisashi nodded, "That's why I believe it might be a quirk that gets genetically inherited like normal quirks. Based on the information Nedzu gave, that looks to be the best option."

"What information?" Izuku asked.

"You don't need to know." Hisashi put an end to the conversation making Izuku scowl, "Nedzu did say that he trusts the person who has One for All, and I know for a fact All for One can give away his quirks, so he didn't need his brother. If One for All is really on our side, there shouldn't be any reason for All for One to give a longevity quirk to his brother, which means the original One for All is probably long dead. Though, Aizawa might be a descendant of One for All, in which case his quirk would be some variant of One for All, depending on inheritance. Maybe Izuku is right about Erasure nullifying All for One." Hisashi shook his head. It was all a circumstantial idea, but one that caught his attention. He'd have to talk to Robin for more information.

"Anyway, I have to go to work. Don't make too much trouble for your mother," Hisashi said.

Izuku nodded, "Bye dad."

Hisashi walked into the police HQ not knowing what to expect. Today was the day he'd be hearing about team 8's findings. He hadn't felt this anxious in a while. And Izuku hadn't done much to calm his nerves after that talk about One for All.

"Report!" Kenji ordered.

Hinata stepped forward first, "The blueprints that Hisashi-san gave me matched what I saw using my quirk. But I noticed some new underground tunnels which I have created blueprints of. The only problem is that the tunnels seem to be constantly changing."

"Constantly changing tunnels?" Tsukauchi asked.

Shino nodded, "It would seem to be the result of one of the Shie Hassaikai's quirks. His quirk seems to allow him to gain control of any object such as the walls itself. Thus, tunnels can be formed easily. Chisaki can do this as well."

"That will be hard to counter since our special ops team can be locked if they are not careful." Hisashi mused, "Did you find anything else, Shino?"

"I have understood everyone's quirks and have made a list. It will have to be reviewed by a quirk analyst but I have made some helpful notes. Furthermore, I seem to have located where Eri is but could not gather information due to my inability to bug Chisaki."

"You couldn't bug him!?" Kenji was shocked. Shino had never failed in bugging someone before.

Shino nodded, "Chisaki is a clean freak and repeatedly uses sanitizers and insect repellents. I apologize."

"It's fine," Kenji said understandingly, "It's unrealistic to expect a 100% success rate. Kiba, I hope you found something?"

"I have marked the ones who are in close contact with Eri and take care of her. But, I haven't been able to get enough information since I wasn't allowed to be in close contact with the Yakuza members," Kiba informed. Akamaru whined in disappointment at the lack of information gathering.

"Minato, I hope you have found something that can help us build a case?" Kenji asked.

"Oh, I have found a lot," Minato said with a grim face. Gone was his smile, and instead, Hisashi saw the cold, steely blue eyes, "I hacked into the main database of the Shie Hassaikai and found this," he handed a stack of papers to Hisashi and the commissioner.

"Looks like Chisaki has been experimenting on Eri and is close to finding a way to extract the power from Eri's quirk. These are all his lab notes along with experimental details." Minato informed.

Hisashi read through the files with disgust while Tsukauchi looked ready to puke.

"Those bastards… we should go there right now!" Kiba exclaimed.

"I agree, but logically, rushing in headfirst will not help," Shino warned, "Rather, we would lose and we might lose Eri's location. We'll need to recruit some heroes."

"Why!? We have people in the police force with strong quirks too!" Kiba argued.

"They do not have enough experience to fight quirk users of this caliber," Shino replied.

"Still!"

"Enough!" Hisashi intervened, "As bad as it is, I have to agree with Shino. Rushing in will do us no good. Shie Hassaikai did inform us about the change in leadership, so I'll ask Shikamaru to use that to get an investigative warrant. That way, we can take a week or so to stay in the hideout and look out for Eri while we prepare."

"Wouldn't it have been better to use something like that for a sneak attack? That way we would already have people inside." Shino argued.

Hisashi nodded, "Eri's safety is more important now. Shino, you keep your bugs inside for more information."

Shino nodded.

"I'll talk with Nedzu to gather some heroes according to our needs." Hisashi said, "I just hope All for One doesn't pop up here."

A/N: Short chapter I know (especially the briefing), but upcoming ones will gradually be bigger as we head into Eri retrieval arc.
