Hi, so this is my first story for this pairing and I have to admit I am liking it so far so let's see where it goes! I hope you all enjoy this story and this chapter.

Leah is criminally underused and criminally treated. She's the Rosalie of the Wolf Pack. Seriously the shit that she goes through because she's not skipping at the idea of being Emily's maid of honour (and seriously what the fuck possessed Emily to ask that? Like seriously Stephanie). So this story is a love letter to Leah.

I also have a huge amount of respect for Embry's Mom. Not sorry. Also I know she has a different name in the books to here but here she is Layla and she was seventeen when she got pregnant.

Also on Embry's father...I know a lot people assume it is Joshua Uley but somehow that seems to nice and neat, I also think it's pretty ironic, that both Jacob and Quill end up being friends with a kid who might be their half brother. So my views on Embry's Dad is that is has to be one of them and I do tend to lead towards Billy just for reasons I can't name. The council bit deciding whose parents should know and who doesn't is my own and I know it does not correlate with the books but then again this whole story is AU so (shrugs), I just think it's a fun angle to explore that everyone is terrified with who Embry's father could be.

Again, all of this is my own design, the characters belong to someone else, I am just playing in my writers box.

A First Time For Everything

Chapter 7-First Blood

Leah is...conflicted about her feelings for Embry as the two share a moment which is ruined completely by Jared arriving with a message from Sam.

Somewhere down the lines she had devolved…feelings.

That in itself was not an unnatural thing. She had developed feelings for Sam once before but after the whole shit show between him, her and Emily had gone down she had done her best to pretend that she was without feelings whatsoever. The only person…well…there had been three of them now who had called bullshit on that were Jacob, Seth and Embry. Seth because he had lived with her for so long and had known the inner workings of her mind better than anyone else who had set up shop there rent free, Jacob because oddly enough they were in the same boat and Embry…Embry who for reasons beyond her comprehension had burrowed his way into her head and was quite comfortable there even when she was in human form and had somehow managed to do it without her even realising which was just rude.

Point was that Embry had managed to find a way under her skin which meant that her thoughts were no longer safe. Not that they had never been before but now they were really unsafe.

Because Embry was inspiring feelings.

The more they stayed at the Cullen's the worse it got. The more that they waited for the inevitable weather it be an attack or Bella's death which everyone came first. Personally Leah thought it was more than likely to be the last one. She had only seen flickers in Jacob's brain and it had been enough to tell her which way the wind was blowing. She couldn't think it while she was a wolf (even she was not that mean) but when she was human she couldn't help but think that Bella Swan-Cullen or whatever her name was now, had brought a hell of a lot of this on herself. She had no concept of the damage that she was doing and she was being enabled by a group of immortal beings who continued to tell her she was good enough to run with them. She was human…and being human had it's problems but Leah thought of it with a longing she couldn't quite describe.

But then there was Embry which was why she had transformed when Seth had taken over her shift thrown her shorts and her top on and had come to this flat rock overlooking the river and had sat her bare feet dirty and crusty with mud and looking down at the water as if it held the answers to her prayers.

There was…something…something under the surface that she couldn't quite scratch. Something that was making her feel terribly awkward in a way she hadn't done since the first time she had been with Sam. She didn't know how to describe it.

She felt safe with Embry that much was obvious, he was kind and he was gentle and he was understanding and he had a way of making her feel like a bitch and actually have remorse for it which as Jacob ever so helpfully pointed out, was a first.

He was good looking she had to admit that, turning into a wolf and running through the forest had made sure that any baby fat that he might have had was falling away off his cheeks and off his belly and he had shaped up with the rest of them. The tattoo was inked on his shoulder gave the impression of age and his hair falling into his eyes was much the style these days. He was silent when she needed him to be and talked when she needed distraction and in a way that Sam had never done he had known when she needed one and when she needed the other.

It wasn't love she didn't think, but it was something and Leah wasn't sure if she was ready yet for a something. She wasn't sure if she was ready yet to walk back into the nightmare that was a relationship. Sam had burned her so much…Emily had helped light the match and then her mother and father silent pillars of support unflappable in the knowledge that it was alright that their niece was moving in with their daughters ex but refusing to tell said daughter why, had stood there and watched. Leah didn't know if she had the energy to do it all over again. Maybe Jacob was right and love didn't deserve to find people like them. The unlived, the unloved, the very, very extraordinary. Imprinting could only do so much after all.

And the one thing that she thought would matter, the one thing that she had thought would matter didn't.

Age.

There was what…two years between them? Nothing legally standing in her way and if truth be told he looked older than she did.

Oh this was such a mess.

"Hey" came a voice behind her and Leah turned to see said mess coming towards her with what looked like two slabs of chocolate cake in his hand wrapped in napkins. She took in the new jean shorts too and noticed the label immediately.

"Since when did you wear Calvin Klein?"

"Since the vampires felt so bad they gave me Calvin Klein for free?"

"Ugh,"

"Nah it's not too bad, actually it's kinda nice. Mrs Cullen does a really good job of making sure she doesn't touch them that much and the food is really good" he held out the cake and Leah stared at him flatly. He stared at her and then he rolled his eyes.

"Oh come on Leah! You can't eat as a wolf for the rest of your days, even with that new fangled fancy trick that Jake taught you. It's disgusting and you know it. Also it doesn't keep us at our best and you know that too. Unless of course your too chicken to eat the vampire's food?"

He waved the chocolate cake in front of her like some kind of mirage and she had to break into a smile that she really didn't want to give because damn him…he had known the way to get to her.

"Well…you go first, make sure there's no venom in it"

Embry shrugged snagging one long bite of the cake and then letting out a moan that was so pornographic in nature it sent a wave of arousal shooting straight down her spine and unbidden she had an image of him on his back with her between his legs making that same moan and she had to smack herself internally very, very hard.

"See" he said and if he noticed the pink flush that was sure to have dusted her cheeks or the spine curdling rush of arousal that had hit her then he didn't comment on it. And she found that whatever the reasoning behind it she lov—liked, liked him all the more for it.

He held out the cake and she took a mouthful rolling her eyes. He'd placed it on the end of his fingers and in doing so her tongue brushed up against callused finger pads and before she could stop herself (because she had no fucking control whatsoever and was firmly on her way to hell because of it) Leah looked up to see that his pupils were blown so black that they had almost disappeared. She took the mouthful of cake and sat back chewing and she felt an inescapable giggle hit her that she couldn't control. She chewed her lip firmly trying not to show how elated she was but the smile on her face was plain no doubt for all to see.

Embry blushed furiously.

"Good?" he mumbled.

"Good" she said though she hated it. She hated the fact that she had to admit that the vampires chocolate cake was good and then she hated the fact that she was smiling while she said that sentence. The whole thing was so utterly bizarre that she couldn't help but smile. And smile she did. Embry smiled back and she thought like some utter lovesick twit that needed to be taken out the back and shot (like Bella Swan-Cullen or whatever her name was now) that it was a bit like sunshine.

"Tell anyone that I said that and I will end you" she said softly and it was too soft and too gentle for her. Embry's smile was too soft and too gentle too and it was unsettling in all the best ways and it made her want to run a mile but at the same time her feet were stuck and she couldn't move.

"No you won't" Embry said softly and this time his hand came out and she felt his fingers brush against her mouth as if to wipe away a crumb. "No you won't" he said again and it took her a second to realise that he was waiting patiently for an answer and she found herself giving one despite her better judgement.

"No I won't" she said quietly acknowledging the wine. She didn't know what this was or if it was explorable (for all she knew—and she hated that she would be very, very hurt if it was true—he was having a laugh at her expense) but she found that she was giving him this victory. Leah was giving him this win. Oh of course tomorrow she would give as good as she got, she had her pride after all but right now? Right now it felt good to let herself be teased by this man who was undoubtably one of the strangest people that she had ever met and yet had in the space of a few days managed to find a way under her skin.

She would not say anything more. She did not want to think about where else Embry might have found a home for himself.

Maybe this was all just a delayed reaction? Maybe she really just needed to get laid? After all while a vibrator worked miracles it didn't do much justice to the real thing.

"What you thinking about?"

"Just…just how long this can go on for?" she lied (there was no way in hell she was going to tell Embry what she had really been thinking about)

"What Bella?"

"Yeah, you've been up in the house loads of times, how bad is it?"

"Not good" Embry said sighing. "Whatever's inside of her they think is starving her from the inside out but she refuses to let anything else near her that might harm the baby—"

"Don't call that thing a baby—" Leah said sharply. The thought of calling it a baby, of Bella Swan having the one thing that she could never have was nausea inducing.

Embry didn't say anything for a long second until he had finished eating his cake and had thrown the napkin in the river but he carried on finally.

"She won't let anyone touch her. She thinks that they are all working against the baby and Edward just throws his hands up and doesn't do anything and the way she looks at Jake—"

"What do you mean?"

"She looks at him like she loves him" Embry said bitterly. "I try to have sympathy Leah I really do cause the woman is one bad move away from dying but she looks at him like he is the answer to her prayers. She lights up whenever she sees him, she asks for him all the time, when he is coming, how's he doing and—"

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

"Nope" he said popping the p. "But Leah, don't because Seth and I have already tried and he's…he's committed to seeing this through. I think…I think he's done some backwater deal with Edward when this is all over"

Leah blinked.

"You think" she said slowly "That he—"

"Leah shut up I don't know if they can hear me" Embry growled and she clamped her mouth shut immediately. "I don't know" he said finally. "I don't…I don't know. All I know is that he and Edward have this…understanding that they didn't have the last time. They seem to be better with each other and I wonder if…when she dies Edward is going to want to join her and Jacob is going to want to help him. That's a given. So I just wonder if maybe…they've had this conversation before. But there's no point in asking him and there is certainly no point in talking to him about Bella—"

"That woman has put him through hell, through absolutely hell and she is still…does she get that Jacob is a person? That he is not someone that she can use like an old towel? She cannot…" she shook her head unable to speak due to sheer rage and then without warning she began to shake.

"Leah if you rip your clothes the vampires will insist on giving you more" Embry said and she snarled standing up and flipping her top off and not caring that he was getting a full view. She kicked her shorts to the side and then exploded running back down the rocks to the forest intent on running…somewhere…anywhere.

Maybe even back to the house to rip Bella Swan apart.

There were too many parallels between her and Sam and Emily and Jacob and Bella and Edward. It made the whole thing so shockingly real. And it made her furious.

And then a howl from Seth cut through the tension and she felt a warm shimmer as Embry came and joined the mind connection.

"Sam" Seth said in between pants. "Looks like he' s sent Jared in human form, Paul, Quill and Colin, you both better get here now, I don't know what's going on but Jacob isn't in a good place—"

"Seth quit it—"

"You aint Jake and we both know it, we need to double back"

"On it" Embry said and then he was running to the East and Leah followed stretching her legs and realising and relishing the burn.

She didn't know what Sam was planning but she was in the mood for a fight.

Actually, she was in the mood for a kill.

And so Leah Clearwater tilted back her head and howled and Embry behind her said nothing just watched as their thoughts both centralised on just what kind of fresh hell, could be on it's way next.

And yeah, there you go, I hope you enjoy this one and I will do my best to bring you the next one sooner rather than later.

Next Chapter-Leah and Sam come face to face (through Jared) for the first time since she left and all of the wolves on both side of the conflict are afraid. Very, very afraid.
