Akame pov.
Kurome told me to come here…the church where I chose a different path. Where I betrayed and joined the revolutionary army. A choice i don't regret…well. Except for one thing. I had to leave Kurome behind. I tried to get her to come with me. But she refused and considered me an enemy.
As i entered with kurome. She offered me a pocky. Which i gladly accepted.
"This is where you betrayed the empire…thinking back. I was such an idiot…i should have realized that what we were fighting for was a lie when they got me addicted to this garbage." kurome said as she held a bag. No doubt filled with cookies full of that awful drug. Which she threw to the ground.
"But i was too weak…too cowardly to accept that. That our comrades died for a lie…for nothing. But to get rid of anyone that dare defy those corrupted bastards that run the government. I grew comfortable being in their chains. While you had the courage to break free…i hated you for abandoning me…but who was i kidding…i should have gone with you…but i was blinded by my loyalty to this vile empire." kurome said as tears went down her face. I dried them.
"It took a bit longer than I thought. But you're not that weak coward anymore. And we're together again…and I couldn't be happier." i said with a smile.
"Yeah…thanks to auron…good catch big sis." kurome said with a smug look. I blushed.
"Kurome!" i yelled. Kurome giggled. She walked up to the altar. And unwrapped something that was wrapped in a cloth…the broken yatsufusa. A bit of its blade still remained on its hilt.
"Today. I say goodbye to my weak and cowardly past self." kurome said. As she placed what remains of yatsufusa on the altar. She turned around and smiled "let's go. One more battle. Then we can say goodbye to this life for good." kurome said. I smiled and nodded. We both left the chapel.
"Kurome?" someone behind us asked. We turned around to see wave. "So it is true…you're alive…did you really betray the empire?" wave asked.
"they're the ones who betrayed me first…i just quit being blind to that." kurome said. Wave deactivated grand chariot.
"How's your health?...are you?" wave asked. Kurome put her hand on his cheek.
"I'm healthy…physically and mentally. Wave…please. Stay out of auron and falix's way." kurome said. Wave looked shocked. Then look to the ground.
"You know i can't do that…i'm a soldier of the empire. To do that would be against my duty." wave said kurome grabbed onto his shoulder.
"Then you're going to die! Even with grand chariot! You don't stand a chance! Auron killed esdeath by himself! You don't stand a chance!" kurome yelled.
"Why are you so worried about me? You're with your sister now. You get to live a long life. I'm a soldier. I'm prepared for this. As long as you're happy. I have no regrets." wave said with a melancholy smile. It started to rain.
"So it's fine for you to leave me with regrets?" kurome asked.
"Kurome? What are you-" wave said. Only to be interrupted by kurome kissing him on the lips. Much to my shock.
"I don't want you to die! All my time as a jaeger. You did everything you could to help me. You've always been nice to me. And determined to always help. That's why I'm begging you! Don't fight a battle you can't win! So please…i don't want to see someone i love die." kurome said as she cried on wave's chest. Wave hugged kurome.
"I hate seeing you cry…alright. I'll stay out of their way." wave said with a smile.
"Thank you." kurome said.
"Do you want me to give you two some privacy?" i asked. Kurome blushed and pulled away from wave.
"No! We're good! Back to base!" kurome yelled as she ran on ahead.
"Looks like i have my counter now." i said with a grin.
"Counter? To what?" wave asked.
"To her teasing me about auron." i said as i walked back to base leaving behind a stunned wave.
Auron pov.
I woke up from a nightmare…i was scared…but thankful…i have one more live to safe…before i can truly say that i kept our promise.
"Leone…" i said. I looked to my side to see her sleeping on my bed. "I'll save you…i promise." i kissed leone on the cheek. She smiled. i got up and went to tell falix about my nightmare.
The next day/The capital
This was it…after today. I can finally hang up my weapons. And live in peace. The revolutionary army and imperial army clashed. The entire capital was in chaos. The sounds of blades clashing and blood spilling was everywhere. Things were not going in the empires favor. Not surprising considering all their strongest teigu users were either dead left or defected. But the biggest blow was the death of budo and esdeath. If the two strongest generals in the empire couldn't defeat me and falix. Then what chance did they have. As the battle raged. Me and my brother made our way to the palace. With the intention of punishing the man responsible for all of this madness and corruption…prime minister honest. I can tell falix is just itching to put his boot to honest's throat.
"Don't let the white wing escape! Today we avenge our general!" a soldier yelled. Alot of soldiers came charging at me. I sighed.
"I apologize for this. Rest in peace. Fire of sinai." i said as i raised my sword into the air. Pillars of flame reduced the soldiers charging at me to ash. We then made our way towards the palace. After getting through a bunch of elite soldiers. Compared to esdeath. They weren't much. Me and falix reached the throne room. Falix kicked the doors down. Breaking them off the hinges and sending them flying. And we saw them. The emperor and the prime minister.
"Vile rebels! You have sunk the capital into chaos! And destroyed our peace! Why? Why have you done this!?" emperor makoto yelled.
"Kid. you have no idea what's been going on in your empire do you?" falix asked.
"What do you mean?" the emperor asked.
"Your majesty. There's no reason to." honest tried to say. Only to be shot at by falix.
"That's enough of your bullshit you disgusting fat ugly corrupt puddle of human slime!" falix yelled.
"H-how dare you!?" honest yelled. A mixture of anger and fear.
"Your majesty…honest has been lying to you. Manipulating you to get what he wants. And because of this. The empire has become a hell for the people. Nobles have been allowed to torture innocent people as there hearts desire. High ranking members of the army have taken bribes and committed crimes…including murdering innocent people just because they could…and i don't blame you for this. Your just a child giving a responsibility that you were not ready for…and which made you easy to manipulate by that awful man next to you." i said with coldness in my voice.
"Your majesty. Please tell me your not believing these criminals lies. These are the white wings and black wings of night raid. Killers. Criminals. Have you forgotten that it was him who killed esdeath." honest said.
"Yeah! And she deserved it! Our hands may not be clean! But at the very least. The blood on ours is from scumbags who had it coming! The vilest of vile. Scum who would buy children slaves just to torture them for laughs. And let's not forget that one of wild hunt was a child predator and murderer. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. And speaking of ice…that woman must have been wearing one of a hell of a mask while she was here. From what we saw of her. That woman was pure evil! Hell. auron saw first hand what kind of vile piece of shit she was. When she slaughtered an village of innocent people. Just because she could. You know who else lived by her way of thinking? Bandits! They had the exact same mindset as her. Really goes to show corrupt the empire is. When it's most powerful warrior. Is a mass murdering bandit!" falix yelled.
"I-it can't be…y-your lying." emperor makoto said in utter denial.
"How would you know? After all. When was the last time you actually left the palace? Because if you did. You would know we are telling the truth. When one of the first people you meet outside kidnaps you and starts cutting you for shits and giggles! And pieces of shit like that! Are all over the capital! It's why this war happened…but if you don't want to believe it. I don't really care. We came here to butcher that fat piece of trash next to you. And we're gonna do it. Right bro?" falix asked.
"Indeed. You have turned this once beautiful capital into something ugly honest. You turned into a paradise for the corrupt. Sadistic and cruel. And the insane. Murderers. Torturers. Rapists. And even pedophiles have been allowed to run amok. While the innocent suffer and die. The sharpened blade will succeed where the law failed. Today. You will pay for your crimes." i said as i readied my blade.
"I-i am the ruler of this nation!" the emperor yelled. As the entire palace began to shake.
"What the hell now?" falix asked.
"The very first teigu…the last line of defence for the empire. Shikoutazer! It's strength rivals that of god!" honest yelled in glee.
"What rubbish. No man made weapon can rival god." i said.
"Then why not take it on see for itself. Black wing and white wing of night raid! Those who betray the empire will be judged by god!" honest yelled as the palace began to collapse.
"We need to get out of here auron!" falix yelled. I looked at honest disdain. We had him right in our sights. The man responsible for all of this. But falix is right. We can't die here. We made a promise to keep everyone in night raid alive…and that includes us. I nodded at falix. And ran for it. Our lungs were on fire. But we made it out. To see the palace collapse and reveal shikoutazer. An armor teigu much like incursions and grand chariot…but it was bigger…much. Much. bigger. Not even the sharpest of blades. Or the biggest of guns could put a dent in that thing.
"Our empire has lasted generations by the grace and will of god. None can defy god!" emperor makoto yelled. As shikoutazer fired a massive laser that took out a massive chunk of the empire.
"That kid…he's completely lost his damn mind." falix said.
"We have to stop him. It's all or nothing." i said. I transformed. "Let's do this falix." i said. He grinned and nodded. And transformed as well.
"I'll handle the brat and the tin can. You go after honest." falix said.
"But falix. That teigu is more powerful then anything we faced before. You can't fight it alone." I said. He grabbed me by the collar.
"Have you forgotten about our promise? You know what's going to happen to lion tits. You have to be there to save her. Don't let her die. No casualties. Remember?" falix asked.
"Alright…but remember. No casualties means us too. Don't die on us." i said.
"Yeah…don't worry. I won't. Go gut that fat bastard!" falix said with a grin. I put my hand and gave him my power. I returned to my normal form. Falix now had six wings. Three black. And three white.
"I don't need this power to deal with honest…i'll be expecting that back when your done." i said as i went to deal kill honest.
"My. your excellency. You look absolutely heroic and elegant. Your late parents who died in an unfortunate accident are certainly proud. As well." honest said.
"An accident you caused I presume." i said. He turned around his face filled with fear. "And i highly doubt their proud of this. Their son being used as a puppet by their murderer. Their kingdom becoming a hive of scum and villainy. But I digress. Despite what you and that kid think. God is not on your side. For he has sent me. Me and my brother are his punishers. There's a special place in hell waiting for you. Prime minister honest." i said as i readied raijin.
"Please spare my life and i'll grant you whatever you want." honest begged.
"You have nothing i want honest." i said.
"I can give you anything. The finest wines! The greatest weapons! Women! Gold! Name your price!" honest tried to beg.
"I won't take your riches. But i will take your life." i said.i tried to swing raijin but flash of light came form honests ring. Raijin shattered to pieces. Alongside the ring.
"That was my teigu. Erastone! It can destroy one teigu i desire. Of course i can only use it once. But it's enough. To think. I would succeed where the great esdeath failed!" honest yelled as he pulled out a pistol and tried to shoot me. Only for me to block with my true sword. Angel's hymn.
"A valiant effort…but pointless…goodbye prime minister." i said. I then stabbed him. He held his side as he fell to the ground. He tried to crawl away pathetically. A entirely fruitless effort.
"Do you feel powerless?" i asked. As i stabbed him through the back. Blood and spit came out of his mouth. He rolled over writhing in pain. But i kept stabbing him. "This is how the people of the empire felt." i said as i kept stabbing him. He was a bloody mess by the time i was done. I looked at the blood on my hands. I closed my hands and shook. "I pray this is the last time i have to take a life." i said. I looked over to the giant teigu. And watched the fight.
Falix pov.
"Hey brat! You do realize if you keep going the way you do. There won't be anything left. So how about you stop?" i asked.
"You don't understand! What i did for this kingdom!" makoto yelled. As a giant laser came my way. But I reflect it to the sky.
"What have you done for the empire? You let it become a cesspool where scumbags can murder and rape scott free! And not once did you question if honest was actually trying to help you. When it was obvious to everyone that you were nothing but his puppet!...but then again…you're just a kid. You were put on the throne way too early. You didn't have any idea of what you were doing. You just trusted the wrong person. A fat piece of shit who was only out for himself. But i can't stand back and let you destroy everything because of your fucking denial!" i yelled as i flew high up and charged my sword with mine and auron's energy. "Heaven's fall!" i yelled. As i flew down at incredibly fast speed. And slashed shikoutazer. Splitting it into two. The emperor fell out of one of the halves. I picked him up. And flew off to an old friend.
Auron pov.
I stood alongside najenda. Watching people rebuild…the war is over. We've won. I fell to my knees.
"Are you alright?" najenda asked.
"Yeah…just relieved…it's over…it's finally over." i said with a sigh of relief. Falix then showed up. "I need my power back falix." i said.
"No late charges i hope." falix said.
"Hmm. i'll think about it." i said. Falix put his hand on my shoulder. And i felt my power return. Falix returned to his normal form.
"Where did you go?" najenda asked.
Falix pov.
"Keep him safe alex." i said. I gave makoto to alex.
"Why are you both doing this for me? I should have been executed. Your son died because of me." makoto said with guilt.
"My son's death wasn't your fault. Nothing was your fault." alex said.
"That's debatable. But like i said. You were too young to take the throne. You had no idea what to do. So you trusted the person you thought you could trust. And had leadership experience. You just didn't know that the person you trusted was a scumbag who wanted to turn the empire your family built into a hive of scum and villainy. In time. Folks will forget what happened that day. And when you return one day. You'll actually be the leader your father was. Until then. Stay safe." i said. I transformed and flew away.
Auron pov.
"Making a delivery." falix said with a smile. I looked at najenda confused. Everyone showed up. I smiled…knowing i managed to keep my promise. Everyone is alive.
"falix…you said a long time ago. That you and auron made a promise. What was it?" tatsumi asked. Me and falix looked at each other and nodded.
"I had a nightmare a long time ago…seeing you all die…and me and falix vowed to save you guys. And we did." I said with a smile. I got a hug from akame. And falix got a hug from sheele.
"So what now?" mine asked.
"Nothing…after this. Night raid is gone." najenda said. I smiled. And got up.
"Fine by me. Just means no more killing. And besides. Just because night raid is gone. Doesn't mean we're any less of a family." i said with a smile. "But before i go…there's one last thing i want to do." i said with a grin as i walked up to najenda. I put my hand on her shoulder. And in a flash of light. Najenda's arm and eye were restored.
"Auron! What the hell was-" lubbock yelled. Only to see najenda with both her arms and eyes.
"One last miracle. Huh auron?" bulat said with his trademark smile. I chuckled.
"Until we meet again." i said with a smile. We did our part. Now it's time for the revolutionary army to handle things from now on. It's time we disappeared…at least for now. But me and falix didn't leave alone. Akame. leone. Chelsea. Suzuka. cosmina. Cornelia. Tsukushi. Gin. doya. Sheele. Spear. Air. luna. Fal. giselle and lily. Also came with us. Can't leave our lovers and daughters behind.
epilogues.
After returning to that village where falix saved spear and chouri. We immediately got to work building a home big enough for all of us. It took a lot of work. But it turned out beautifully.
Even though i was hoping to never use my sword again. I ended up using for a different kind of pray. We took up jobs as hunters. Besides the out of nowhere danger beast. It was an fairly easy job. And considering the ravenous girls that me and auron fell in love with. Gonna need a lot of meat.
Prime minister chouri took back his position after the battle. He lead the rebuilding the empire. And made sure to get rid of the businesses that were illegal and inhumane. But he made sure to come here and visit his daughter when he could.
Najenda lubbock and bulat were now generals in the imperial army. And they're making absolutely sure that we don't end up with people like ogre and seryu and the ranks again. And speaking of najenda and lubbock. We soon got an invitation to an wedding. Lubbock and najenda's. Me and my brother. Were to be the best men.
Tatsumi went back to his village. Not just with a big sack of gold. And sayo. But also mine as well. Believe me. Me and falix would have paid top gold to see what ieyasu's reaction to that was. From what sayo said in a note sent to me. Mine is a bit prickly at times. But considering the arguments she used to have with tatsumi and falix. She's mellowed out…somewhat.
One day. I received a picture. It was a photo of a tall muscly man alongside a blonde woman and with a girl running towards the camera cutely. On it was one simple word…"thank you." this was bols and his family. I hope he finds work that he can be proud about.
I saw the emperor walking around the village around with a man named alex. Falix explained what he did. And to be honest…i was proud of him. Despite that thing with shikoutazer. None of this was really his fault. He was just a puppet to a vile man. Because he was a kid who was put on the throne too early…to this day. I suspect that the "unfortunate accident" that killed the emperor and the empress was honest's doing as well…which makes me wish i got a few more stabs in before he died….falix told me what happend to alex's son eric…a crime we corrected. And hopefully alex being a father again and makoto getting to live like a normal kid will heal both of them.
Anarchy and criminals were bound to rise in a destroyed capital. Which is where. Kurome and wave came in. becoming known as the second jaegers and unlike the one lead by esdeath. They actually stopped crimes. Instead of dealing with honest's biggest threats. After the war. Kurome and wave became a couple…and akame was sure to get payback for all the teasing she did to her.
As for run. He returned his teigu. And took up a job as a teacher again. He opened a school around our village. Air. luna. Fal. lily. and giselle. Actually enjoyed his classes for his kind attitude towards them. Giselle has taken up classes on medicine. Hoping to become a nurse in the future. Falix would patrol around the village when run's classes were in session as in his own words he didn't want any murdering clown pedos hurting his and my kids. Which me and run thought was…fair enough.
My time as an assassin was a difficult time. A Lot of blood on my hands. But it was also the most fun. You wouldn't expect a team of killers to be so fun. To have such a genuine bond with each other. To be so unique…that's why I vowed I wouldn't let any of them die. And despite all odds being against me and my brother. We managed to save them all…and because of that…the smile I wear is not a false mask….despite the promise i made seemingly like an impossible one…i managed to keep it.
"Yo! Auron. Are you done writing in your journal? Come on. The stagecoach is here! And najenda will kick our asses if her best men aren't there." falix said as he was wearing a tuxedo. It didn't look natural on him at all. I sighed. And closed my journal. And headed out…time to go back to the capital…for a wedding…and a reunion.
