Three days had passed since Cal and Evan were taken to Cadmus. Between the NCPD and the DEO, most of their officers and agents had been searching for any trace of the boys.

After the first night being sent home, Alex and Maggie were allowed to join the search. Both of them had refused to be at home when they could be using their time to search, arguing that Kara, Lena and the kids were all still allowed to do so. J'onn had agreed, realizing that every single person in the search effort was family somehow.

Each night for the past three days, Jamie, Kara and the younger Alex would take to the skies to check for any sign of the boys. Lena had been scouring all L-Corp databases to check for any sign of Cadmus's headquarters, while Alex and Maggie held ground searches with other agents. J'onn had to remind each of his children and grandchildren to take a break and rest. He had worried about the wellbeing of all of them as much as he worried about the boys being missing.

While J'onn's mandate was met with disagreement at first, they decided they would take shifts leading the searches. It ensured everyone had time to rest so that they could spend their time focused instead of wearing their energy out. J'onn also made sure each person had a partner, so that they wouldn't confront Cadmus alone if it had come down to it. Jamie, Kara and the younger Alex decided that they would split up, making sure that someone with powers would be there with someone who didn't have any. Kara decided to stay with her wife, as Lena had had the least fighting experience of the three, and Kara was the strongest with her powers. Jamie and Alex would rotate so that the former could support both of her mothers. For the last three days, both Alexes paired up, while Jamie went with Maggie.

Alex and Alex's shift was finishing up for the night. The younger Danvers decided that he would walk the older back home, as he could fly back once he was sure she was inside.

"Thanks for the escort home." The older Alex managed to crack a smile. A rarity in the past three days.

"My pleasure." The younger Alex opened the door as they both walked in. He closed the door and paused. He could tell that his aunt was slowly starting to worry that Evan and Cal wouldn't come home. "Aunt Alex, we're going to find them. I promise."

Alex didn't say anything acknowledging what her nephew had said, not wanting to get her hopes up. "Goodnight, Al." She gave another soft smile before giving her nephew a hug. She watched him fly back up in the sky, heading back towards National City.

Alex locked the door behind her. She started up the stairs to Maggie when-

"Any luck?"

Alex jumped at the whispering voice and instinctively put her hand on her gun.

"Woah, woah, Mom! It's just me." Jamie jumped up from the couch and walked slowly to her mom with her hands up.

Alex squinted before seeing Jamie's figure in the moonlight. "You scared the shit out of me. I'm glad I didn't wake your mother up."

"Sorry, Mom. I thought she would have told you I was here."

"She probably did, I just haven't checked my phone in a bit." Alex pulled her phone out to see one text from Maggie hours ago.

Jamie's coming over tonight. I'll see you later. I love you.

"I just wanted to check in with you before I went up to bed. I haven't seen you since the other day."

"I'm okay."

"Mom."

Alex and Jamie both stood at the bottom of the stairs, whispering so they wouldn't wake Maggie up. "For everything going on, I'm doing the best I can."

Jamie looked at Alex. Even without any light Jamie could tell Alex was exhausted from the past few days both physically and emotionally. Jamie knew that Maggie had been the same way, though tried not to show it as much as Alex did.

"Okay."

"I'm serious."

"I believe you." Jamie smiled at Alex, deciding to leave it for the night. She pulled her mother into a tight hug. "I love you, Mom."

Alex held the hug for a long time. She owed it to her family keeping her grounded, as everyone was in the same boat trying to find the boys.

Alex kissed Jamie's head. "I love you too, J."

Jamie pulled away to look her mother in the eyes. "Let's go to bed. We can talk in the morning."

Alex nodded and both her and Jamie made their way up to their respective rooms. They had said one more goodnight to each other before closing their doors.

Alex sighed, quietly putting her holster down on the dresser and getting ready for bed. For the first time since Evan and Cal had gone missing, her mind went back to the events over 25 years ago. Her and Maggie almost died, and her father did die. It had been the toughest period of her life by far up until now. When Evan and Cal first went missing, she thought to herself that she was older now, more mature, and that she could handle it. Yet, the thought of her son and nephew dying or being brainwashed at the hands of one of their greatest enemies made her shake with rage and anxiety, unsure what was going to happen.

Alex crawled into bed next to Maggie and closed her eyes. Maggie, still asleep, subconsciously wrapped her arm around Alex, holding her.

It was the little moments with the ones she loved that had kept her from breaking down.

"Police! Drop your weapons!"

Maggie was alone as she entered a secluded area, slowly walking with her gun drawn. She looked around, realizing where she was.

"This can't be." She muttered to herself as she walked forward. She was under the bar where she was first captured and brainwashed by Lillian. She lowered her gun and looked around, only to find Lex standing where Lillian had once before him.

"Hello, Maggie. It's nice of you to make it."

Maggie whipped her head around to Lex standing right where she walked in from.

"Unfortunately, you're a little too late." He stepped to the side and turned a monitor on.

Maggie recognized the location on the screen as the port where the Cadmus ship had been years ago. She noticed Lena and the younger Alex on the ground already, and watched in horror as Cal had struck down Supergirl. Jamie had tried to use her energy to shield off Calvin's heat vision, only to be knocked back by a punch.

"Get Mom and Evan!" Cal was approaching Jamie and the camera, with his eyes slowly turning white as the heat vision activated.

With that, a burst of fire lit up on the monitor before going dark.

"Jamie!"

"It's too late." Lex shrugged and looked at Maggie, smirking.

"Where's my son?"

"Behind you."

Maggie turned around to a gun pointed at her head. Evan was bloodied and bruised, most likely from Cadmus and their abuse.

"You have to join us again. This will all be over if you just join us."

"What are you talking about? Ev, snap out of this." Maggie pleaded with her son. His eyes were bloodshot yet hollow, showing torment from the abuse brought by Cadmus.

"I can't. If you can't then she has to die."

"Evan what-"

At the last second, Evan moved his hand and shot past Maggie. She turned around, only to find Alex kneeling on the ground, holding her stomach.

"No, no, no, Alex!" Maggie ran to Alex, trying to stop the bleeding coming from her stomach. Blood had started pooling below the two.

Alex struggled, trying to smile. "Maggie." She coughed up blood.

"Stay with me, please Alex."

"Maggie. It's okay, Maggie."

"Alex, please stay with me! I can't lose my family."

"Maggie. Maggie this isn't…"

"Maggie! Maggie! This isn't real! Wake up!"

"Alex!" Maggie shot up in a cold sweat. Tears were streaming down her face, and she was trembling.

"Hey, it's okay. I got you." Alex pulled Maggie in close, holding her as she sobbed. "It was just a bad dream, Maggie. You're okay. I'm here, it's okay. We're okay."

Jamie ran into the room. "Mom? I heard yelling, are you guys okay?"

She looked onto Alex holding Maggie with concern.

Alex pulled Maggie away from her just enough so that she could see Jamie. "See? Jamie's alright. She's here, she's safe, she's okay. It was just a bad dream, she's right here."

"But Evan. Lex may have killed him and who knows what he did with Cal and-"

"Hey, don't say that Ma. Don't let Lex put that thought in your head. If he were actually dead we would have seen his body. We're going to find him." Jamie sat on the bed, rubbing Maggie's back. "We will find both of them. I promise." Jamie looked at Alex, pleading with her eyes.

Alex stared into Jamie's eyes and something had clicked in her. For the first time in three days, Alex started to gain hope instead of lose it. It was something about the way Jamie looked at Alex and Maggie that made Alex finally believe that Evan wasn't dead. Alex gave a half smile, holding Maggie close again. "Yeah. We're going to find him."

The three sat in silence for a long time. After what seemed like hours, Maggie's breathing started to regulate, and slowly she stopped trembling.

"Come on, let's try and sleep."

Jamie got up and kissed both of her mothers' foreheads. "Mom's right, you should try to get back to sleep. It's just a dream, okay? I'm going to be in my room right here, and I'll be safe. I promise."

Maggie nodded and Jamie walked towards the doorway. "I love you, kiddo."

"I love you too, Ma. We'll all talk tomorrow, okay?"

"Goodnight, Jamie." Alex gave another soft smile as the door closed. She laid back down on the bed and motioned for Maggie to do the same. "Are you okay?"

"I don't know." Maggie stared at the ceiling. "I saw the boys. Cal got Kara, Lena, Alex and Jamie somewhere else, and I couldn't do anything but watch it on a stupid television screen."

"And Evan?"

"He was there, with Lex. He had me at gunpoint while Lex was watching, and then…"

Maggie started to tremble again and Alex had immediately wrapped her in her arms. "You don't have to tell me. It's okay."

"No, I need to get it off of my chest. He said something along the lines of I had to join or else you're going to die. And then he shot past me."

"And he killed me, didn't he?" Maggie nodded and Alex closed her eyes. "So in your dream, Evan told you that if you didn't join Cadmus I would die?"

"I'm hoping it was just a really screwed up nightmare."

"You know, I had a similar dream when you and my dad were taken by Lillian. It was you telling me to join. And then the dream jumped ahead and I killed Kara. I was so disillusioned when I woke up and she was sitting right next to me, and I still thought I killed her."

"You never told me that."

"By the time you came back, I didn't even remember that dream had happened. But that's exactly what it is, a bad dream. None of that happened in reality."

"But what if it does?" Maggie sat up with Alex.

"It's not going to. We're going to fight like hell to get the boys back, and we're going to fight to protect our family. I won't let anything happen to the kids or you, Kara, Lena, no matter what."

"We just can't lose Evan. Or Jamie, or any of the kids. And I can't lose you."

"And you won't." Alex kissed Maggie. "Ride or die, remember?"

Maggie nodded before she went back to staring at the ceiling. "But we do need to be realistic."

Alex looked at Maggie, unsure what she meant.

"As hard as it might be, I think we should have a conversation with Kara and Lena about everything. If it comes down to it, we need to talk about how to protect the kids. This is going to be the fight of our lives, Alex."

They had both thought when Lillian had tried to tear the family apart that the worst had come. So many years had passed yet Cadmus and Lex were trying to tear the family apart again.

Alex sighed. "I know." Maggie was right, but Alex sighed and shuddered at the possibility of losing Kara, Maggie or Lena. "We have to look out for Lena too, I can't imagine what it feels like with her brother being the one to kidnap the boys."

"Maybe the nightmare is a wakeup call we need to prepare for any possibility. I just hope Lex doesn't try to take Lena too."

"It's not going to happen. We're going to get Evan and Cal back, and we'll protect Lena, Kara, the kids, our whole family. Lena will never be like Lex." Alex laid down again next to Maggie.

"We're not as young as we used to be, Danvers."

"We should talk to everyone tomorrow. Maybe it's time we go back to work and start drilling. We took ourselves out of the field so that we wouldn't have to risk our lives for Evan and Jamie. But maybe it's time we do just that." Alex turned towards Maggie again. "We should get some sleep now though. Are you going to be okay?"

"With you by my side? Always. I just hope the nightmares don't become reality."

"I won't let it happen. I promise."

Maggie nuzzled into Alex's body, closing her eyes. "I love you."

"You too. Forever."
