At the start of the next moon, You awaken from your slumber slowly. Seraphine's voice reaches your ears soon afterward.
Seraphine: We should be able to hear about what Eli learned from the messenger today. We can talk to Cyrus and Druilla too. I'm sure at least one of them will be able to point us in the right direction after everything that happened last moon.
You nod your agreement and prepare for the day quickly. When You are finished, You set your sights on the cardinals' room. The rest of the Ashen Wolves are waiting there as is to be expected. You greet them upon your arrival.
Eli: Good morning, Professor. I'm glad you're here.
Ernst: We have a lot to talk about today. Between the messenger and talking to Cyrus and Druilla, things are going rather smoothly for us.
Magnus: I doubt it would be a wise idea to trust that this will last for long, but I suppose we can let ourselves relax for now.
Eli: If all goes well, we should be able to relax soon enough thanks to an alliance from the Kingdom.
Grey: I guess that all of our squirming alone is about to end then. The fact that we received a message from the Kingdom is a great sign.
Quinn: We're not exactly getting reinforcements though… At the very least, we're not getting them yet.
Gabriel: I would have thought that was why the messenger was coming to visit us. What message did they deliver then?
Eli: The queen will be giving us her support whenever she has the chance, though this war has been difficult for her, I'm afraid.
Tsubasa: Of course it's been hard on her. The nobles of her own nation won't stop trying to get her killed.
Eli: Magnolia will be turning her attention to trying to weed out the corruption found within the Kingdom for the time being. When she has the chance, she will be reaching out to us. In the meantime, she was hoping we would be willing to take care of something else that's been giving her trouble as of late.
Ansel: I take it to mean our next mission is going to be following the directions she outlined for us then?
Quinn: Yes. We're going to be striking at a stronghold filled with Malice forces found within the Kingdom.
Saias: Are we going to fight against the same sorts of soldiers we've been confronting up to this point?
Taiyin: If you're talking about the Agarthans, then I must admit that I'm wondering about that too. What's the story, Eli?
Eli: The reason Magnolia wanted to point us in this direction was because she thought it might help us to figure out where Evenor has disappeared to. Us targeting specifically Agarthan strongholds has caught her attention, and she wants us to find Evenor.
Magnus: It would play to her strengths if we were able to eliminate Evenor from the war as well. I can only imagine the woman has been frustrating everyone else just as much as she's been annoying us.
Grey: So she's pointing us in the right direction to see if we can find her… Perfect. I'd say this is a great next step for us to take.
Saias: And if we can get rid of another group of fighters trying to target her, then she should be able to join us here at the monastery sooner too.
Gabriel: We've received word back from the Alliance as well. It seems Raithius will be able to join us around the same time as Magnolia.
Ansel: In other words, if we can hold out long enough to find the support of one nation, we will get the support of the other by default.
Taiyin: As long as we're talking about gathering allies, I have to wonder… Have you guys heard the rumors about the Empire?
Ernst: If you're talking about the whispers of a rebellion stirring in the Empire, then yes. I have heard about it.
Quinn: I'm impressed that there are people who want to stand up against the emperor like this at all. He's defeated all resistances so quickly after they appeared in the past.
Tsubasa: But this time, it seems the rebels were able to pull one over on him. That's the only reason we were able to hear about them in the first place.
Grey: As long as they're still kicking, there's a chance that we can get them on our side. Maybe we should dedicate some of our attention to seeking out the leader and asking for help.
Ernst: I don't know how easy that's going to be. If they're trying to conduct a rebellion in a time like this, then they're probably going to try to keep as much secret as possible.
Taiyin: And if they're spending all their time trying to hide from the emperor, then we likely won't be able to find them easily either… That's frustrating on many levels.
Gabriel: If they're successful, then maybe we won't need to worry about invading the Empire at all… That might be asking for a bit too much, but I can still dream a little bit.
Magnus: The idea of the rebellion taking over the entire Empire feels impossible, especially given the way Argades has been behaving… Though I won't deny that it is a nice thought.
Eli: We should at least keep our ears open for any information we can gather about them. Perhaps we could ask Cyrus and Druilla if they know about it.
Saias: I suppose there's always a chance they would be able to help us with this… It wouldn't hurt for us to at least go and ask them as long as we have the resources available.
Quinn: The two of them should be ready for us to go and speak with them. We should go and take care of it as soon as possible so we can plan our strategies around any new information they have to offer.
Ansel: I agree. I have to wonder how much they know though… It sounds as if their commanders knew they were going to betray the cause sooner or later, so they don't seem to know as much as they could.
Tsubasa: Either way, we have informants here with us, and I'm going to take advantage of that as long as I can. They could have something useful to share with us, and we should enjoy it.
Eli: Let's go and hear what they have to say. If they can help us, then we need to hear them out first… Especially if they know anything about the fortress Magnolia seems to want us to assault next. If anyone is going to know more about the place, then it would be them.
Quinn: Of course. Let's ask then.
You and the rest of the Ashen Wolves start toward the dungeons. Seraphine's voice echoes in your mind along the way.
Seraphine: Everyone seems to be much more relaxed around the idea of trusting Cyrus and Druilla now… I suppose that since Eli's plans have worked twice, people are starting to have more confidence in them. I'm glad to see it. It's always nice to have your bad assumptions about people proven wrong.
You nod your agreement.
Seraphine: I'm eager to hear what the two of them have to say… I just hope it helps us to learn more about Evenor. They may not know much about her, but it doesn't hurt to hope, does it?
You arrive in the dungeons soon afterward, and You find Cyrus and Druilla both waiting for You and the rest of the Ashen Wolves. Eli steps toward them with a smile on his face.
Eli: Good morning, you two. Are you alright with talking to us for a short while?
Cyrus: If that's what you need, then yes. What do you want to hear?
Ernst: We're planning on heading to a fortress in Kingdom territory that we think might have something to do with Evenor Hepius. Can you tell us anything about that?
Druilla: I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. Evenor has been traveling constantly for the last five years. It's impossible to get a hold of her for anything.
Cyrus: If you ask me, that's a part of the point. She doesn't want people to figure out where she is in case it ends up being used against her.
Gabriel: In other words, she knows that she's done awful things. She's just trying to run so it doesn't catch up to her.
Cyrus: She's always been aware that she's done awful things. She just never cared enough to try and fix it.
Taiyin: You two seem to hate her a lot more than I would have expected… I was under the impression you were her allies.
Druilla: Allies… Being allies with Evenor is much easier said than done. She has an idea of where the future should be headed, and she'll roll over anyone who disagrees with her regardless of the consequences.
Ansel: We've already been made aware of the experimentation she has performed on innocent victims. That was the reason for such destruction in the Empire's royal family.
Cyrus: It runs a bit deeper than that, if you can believe it. Before she agreed to work for the previous emperor, she had other targets.
Saias: Other targets… You mean that her ending up employed by the emperor wasn't where she started her experimentation work?
Druilla: No. It's just widely assumed that the Empire's palace was the first place where her work actually succeeded. Before that… Before that, she was experimenting on any Agarthan child she could get her hands on.
Grey: She wasn't even above experimenting on those who were of her own kind… I shouldn't have expected anything less given what we've heard about her.
Cyrus: She claimed it was all in the name of progress and that it would be worth it one day. I don't know if it ever wound up being 'worth it' in anyone's eyes though. All she ever did was ruin people's lives.
Magnus: Being placed under constant physical and emotional stress like that would break a person with time. If I recall correctly, we saw some of that ourselves five years ago.
Tsubasa: We did. When we had to fight against Evenor herself, she revealed that she had been experimenting on people in an attempt to make them ideal soldiers… And in doing, so she had hollowed them out until there was next to nothing left.
Druilla: The Agarthan people have sought revenge against the world for over a thousand years now. Our leaders never stop thinking about the ways in which they can make the world burn. In Evenor's eyes, experimenting on people was the best way in which she could change things for the better… Her idea of better, that is.
Quinn: And many who would have been her allies have come to hate her because of her actions against the other Agarthans on her side… Is that it?
Cyrus: If you don't have a power advantage over Druilla, then she's going to step on you and destroy you. That's just the way she works.
Druilla: Nothing matters to her aside from how much she can use a person to reach her own goals. That's how it's always been with her, and that's how it always will be as well.
Eli: You two… I'm sorry if this is intrusive, but…
Druilla: …I already know what you're going to ask, and the answer is yes. Of course it is. In case you haven't already noticed, the people on our side of the war don't look fondly at us. They were fine with ruining us as long as it would suit their own goals.
Eli: Then Evenor… She experimented on both of you?
Cyrus: It was a long time ago, but… Yes. Druilla and I were two of the only people who were able to escape it.
Druilla: She started to experiment on regular humans after a while since she didn't want to destroy too many people from our home, but by that point, the damage had already been done.
Cyrus: Our leaders thought it was justified if she hurt even her allies as long as it would make progress. That was all they ever seemed to care about.
Eli: I'm so sorry for what happened… I don't think I can say it enough.
Druilla: We don't want your sympathy. If you have time to pity us, then you have time to go after Evenor and get her out of our lives once and for all. You'll be doing the world a service.
Cyrus: D-Druilla, that's awfully harsh…
Druilla: It's true. I wouldn't put any faith in finding Evenor in this fortress you've been pointed to, but it wouldn't hurt for you to at least go and look around. Even if she's not there, maybe you can find something that will point you in the right direction. I make no promises, but it's at least worth the try if you're willing to put in the effort.
Quinn: And we are. As long as this will help us, then we're willing to do it.
Cyrus: Of course. I wish nothing but the best for all of you with this.
Eli: Is there anything else you want us to know?
Druilla: I'd like to get out of this cell sooner rather than later, if you don't mind. It brings up… Unpleasant memories.
Eli: Yes, I understand. Now that we're all certain that you're not a threat to us, then we can let you out. My apologies for holding out on you for so long in the first place.
Magnus: Call me a cynic, but are you sure this is a good idea? They could stab us in the back once we let them out.
Eli: Do you think they would have given us information so freely if that was the case? As far as I'm concerned, they would have already killed us if that was their intention.
Grey: They're pointing us in the right direction, and they might be able to help us find Evenor in the long run. I think this might be for the best.
Ansel: So be it… As long as they understand that lashing out at us isn't going to end well. I don't want anything to happen to any of you, after all.
Eli: I'm sure they know.
Cyrus: Thank you… I appreciate it.
Eli: Feel free to look around the monastery as much as you'd like. We're here if you have any questions you need answers to.
Druilla: I'll keep that in mind. And… Thanks, I suppose.
You watch as Cyrus and Druilla leave the dungeon below. You turn to the rest of the Ashen Wolves once they are gone.
Taiyin: I never would have expected they were victims of the experimentation too… I guess there really is no limit to the people Evenor would hurt.
Saias: No… It seems like every new fact we hear about her only makes her worse. I shouldn't be surprised, but…
Tsubasa: It's all the more reason for us to try and find her as soon as possible and bring her to justice by force.
Ernst: I don't say this lightly, but… At this point, I believe the only justice to be found for her is in death.
Gabriel: I agree. I don't think anyone could ever feel safe as long as she's still out there waiting to strike again.
Quinn: We can try to track her down after this battle ends. We should turn our attention there following this mission.
Eli: Hopefully, this battle will give us the information we need to learn more about where to find Evenor. We should prepare for it accordingly. Now… Let's go, everyone. We have a fight to ready ourselves for.
You and the Ashen Wolves split up for the day. You head back to your room, Seraphine's voice ringing in your ears along the way.
Seraphine: I'm impressed that Eli's gambit has worked out not once but twice now… I'm not complaining in the slightest, of course, but it is strange.
You say that You are happy for it as well.
Seraphine: I can only hope this next battle will point us in the right direction to find Evenor… The sooner we can find her, the better. I don't know if she'll be able to help us figure out where Janae has gone, but it would be worth a shot. We need to find Evenor no matter what… To hear the truth from her.
You nod and say that You want to understand where You came from after all this time spent wondering.
Seraphine: We can wait a little bit longer to hear the truth from her though. First, we have another mission to fight through. Magnolia is counting on us, and I don't want to let her down. We need to get her help as soon as possible, and it's time to earn it.
You nod once again and decide to explore the monastery for the day. You start by going to the Officers Academy. In the area, You find Zelhira standing in the courtyard.
Zelhira: The rumors about a rebellion brewing in the Empire are true… My adoptive father is officially working with them, but he's being so vague in his letters to me. I don't understand why he's being so cagey in telling me what they're doing… I understand he's worried about revealing something he shouldn't, but I feel like it runs deeper than that. I must admit that it worries me.
You find Aestlyn in the Blue Lions' classroom.
Aestlyn: I'm glad we were able to save Magnolia from the assassination attempt. I really hope we'll be able to get her help sooner rather than later. We need all the extra help we can get… And beyond that, I'll just feel safer to have her here with us. I suppose it's a personal preference.
You also encounter Sofia in the area, though she is in the Golden Deer classroom.
Sofia: I'm glad Raithius is planning on getting back to us sooner rather than later when it comes to helping us out. We could certainly use all the help we can get, especially from someone like him. I'm getting tired of shuffling through all of this with so few troops… It's exhausting for us all.
You go to the training hall next, and You see Wynne outside the entrance.
Wynne: I'm impressed we've managed to get this far honestly. There are a lot of pieces on the board, but we're still in one piece. It's a miracle… I can't tell if we're ridiculously lucky or if we should be waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe it's both.
Inside the training hall, You speak with Piers.
Piers: The Knights of Seiros spent a lot of time over the last half a decade trying to find Evenor. Nothing ever worked the way we hoped. Hearing that she's traveling constantly to hide herself makes a lot of sense… Though it's certainly a thorn in all of our sides.
You also find Karim there.
Karim: I know we already heard that the chances of us finding Evenor in this next mission are pretty slim, but I want to hope for it anyway. That would certainly spare us a lot of trouble… Then again, it's not like she's ever wanted to help us. Even when she acted like it, she was just getting ready to stab us in the back. What a frustrating woman…
You make your way to the first floor of dorms next, and You run into Wolfgang along the way.
Wolfgang: I wish I could say I was surprised to hear Evenor was responsible for so many cases of experimentation against her allies and enemies. If anything, I feel like I should have seen it coming sooner… No matter what she says about this being progress for her people, it's torture. It's plain and simple, and it makes me sick.
In the vicinity of the dorms, You run into Kyle.
Kyle: I hope this mission really does help us to get Magnolia's help sooner rather than later. We really could use the extra aid… Though I guess we can't push it too fast. We have a long journey ahead of us whether we like it or not, and all we can do is take it one step at a time. Here's to hoping Magnolia is able to come join us as soon as possible.
You also find Callisto in the area.
Callisto: Having that last mission out of the way is already a massive weight off my shoulders. I knew we weren't going to let anything bad happen, but it was stressing me out anyway. At least it's over with now. Thank the goddess for her small mercies.
You go to the second floor of dorms. There, You find Aquillus in his room.
Aquillus: It wouldn't surprise me at all if Evenor was hiding in the Empire given the circumstances. None of us want to even touch the Empire with the long end of a stick. If she wants to avoid us, that's the place to go… Though I'm not looking forward to going after her at all.
You see Adeline in the hallway outside.
Adeline: As far as I can tell, when this war ends, I'm going to be left with an empty house… Aside from my brother, that is. I believe Raithius is taking care of my parents now… I'm not sure how I feel about that, but it's too late for second thoughts now, huh?
You return downstairs and set your sights on the greenhouse. You find Jill inside.
Jill: I keep finding myself paranoid that we're going to end up attacked when we're not paying enough attention to the gates of the monastery… Without an army here, it feels like we're ripe for the picking. I know invading the monastery is much easier said than done, but… After what happened five years ago, I just can't stop thinking about it. What a massive headache.
You also see Rodain in the area.
Rodain: I'm glad we were able to make it to the enemy fortress before they could go after the queen. That would have been a disaster in at least two dozen ways… It's a shame we don't have much time to rest now. I guess I should have seen that coming, but it's still unfortunate.
You next make your way to the fishing hole. There, You speak with Illona.
Illona: I know we're probably not going to find Evenor when we go after her, but I really hope we can find some clue that will lead us in the right direction. The uncertainty is killing me… Though I'm not looking forward to what will be there when we arrive. Call me a cynic all you want, but I feel like we could be running into something we never could have prepared for…
You also find Adrian there.
Adrian: I spoke with one of my old classmates about the assassination attempt from this last month. She wanted me to pass on her thanks for what we did to help Magnolia. I hope you'll be able to meet her soon. She's a nice woman, and you two would no doubt get along well.
You speak with Lev at the edge of the dock.
Lev: No matter how many times I tell myself to stay calm when it comes to Evenor, I can never quite keep my composure. I guess it's the paranoia that comes with knowing she could be anywhere at any time and we would never know. It's frustrating and horrifying… Ugh.
Last, You encounter Grey in the area.
Grey: It's definitely going to take some time before I get used to having Cyrus and Druilla around, but I guess it could be worse. Eli seems to think he made the right decision, and given how helpful they've been up to this point, I'm inclined to agree… I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it ends though, huh?
You make your way to the dining hall next. Inside, You speak with Florence.
Florence: I've been wanting to go after the people responsible for the experimentation for years ever since they first took me as their hostage. Don't get me wrong, it's going to be terrifying, but I know I have to face them sooner or later… I just hope I can get it over with. The wait is getting on my nerves, and I could use the break from the constant anxiety as soon as possible.
You also find Saias in the dining hall.
Saias: For what it's worth, Cyrus and Druilla seem to be settling in well enough… I know it's going to be a while before everyone is used to having them around, but it's a nice first step. I'm glad Eli decided to reach out to them. I think it really was the best choice whether we realized it at the time or not.
You also talk to Kaeta there.
Kaeta: Never a dull day here at the monastery, huh? I guess I shouldn't have expected anything different… As long as we're able to help the people who need it though, it's all fine. First, it was Magnolia, but we're going to do more soon too… You know, once we get a direction to target, that is.
Finally, You approach Nora.
Nora: I've been thinking a lot about a specific group we fought five years ago… They were victims of Evenor and her human experimentation. They were so weak and could barely hold themselves together… I have to wonder how low a person can sink to justify doing something like that to others. Evenor seems to become more of a monster each time I think about her, and given how much we all hate her, that's certainly an accomplishment, though it's nothing to be proud of.
Your next destination is the marketplace. There, You approach Ernst.
Ernst: Even though we were able to stop this last assassination attempt, I fear somebody will try to target Magnolia again. She's dealt with these attacks nearly constantly since the war started and even before that. It wouldn't surprise me if people tried to go after her again… Though hopefully she'll be here with us before that can happen. We may be able to defend her if it comes to that, though I'd prefer it if we never had to worry about that again.
You also speak with Falon there.
Falon: Hearing that my grandmother was trying to kill Magnolia is hardly a surprise. At one point, I would have said that all people have the potential for good inside of them… But I no longer feel that way, and my grandmother is one reason why. She will try to attack Magnolia again… I'm certain of it. I just hope the guards in Fhirdiad are prepared for that.
You enter the stables next. You speak with Cassia once there.
Cassia: As far as I can tell, Evenor's affiliation with the Empire's royal family hasn't continued since she was released from service over two years ago. I believe she's on the same side as Argardes, though I don't think the two of them are working closely together. I suppose we'll simply have to wait and see.
You also approach Miriam in the area.
Miriam: With all of this talk about Evenor escaping and somehow hiding from the world for so long, I have to think about Lady Aisa… Captain Torryn was confident she was alive for these last five years, but if that's the case, then where is she? How has she managed to avoid being found for so long? We'll have to ask when we ever see her… If we ever do, that is.
You move toward the knights' hall. Inside, You speak with Derric.
Derric: The whispers about the rebellion in the Empire keep catching my attention… I have to wonder who will end up targeted by them next. It wouldn't surprise me much if they turned their attention to Niko and I's family… That's worrying, but I suppose there's little other choice… I want to speak with the people behind this when the time comes. I hope they would allow me that small mercy.
You find Yuliya there as well.
Yuliya: It's funny looking through all the paperwork in here. I find myself doing it more than I probably should… There are still a few traces of that peace from five years ago no matter how far away it feels now. It's nauseating to see, but I suppose that's what nostalgia really is at the end of the day. Nauseating.
You go to the entrance hall next. Inside, You approach William.
William: I never thought I would see the day I fought alongside Agarthans, though I suppose there's a first time for everything. It's a unique experience, but it could be worse. At least we have a bit of extra help now.
You find Reese there next.
Reese: I have to wonder if perhaps Cyrus and Druilla will be able to persuade any of our other enemies to abandon their posts… It could be a vain hope, but I'm allowed to be a little bit optimistic every once in a while. Who's going to stop me?
You make your way to the reception hall from there. Inside, You find Hegias.
Hegias: I tried to find Evenor many times over the last five years too, but I was never quite able to get close enough to figure out where she had gone… I wanted to hear the truth from her about why she did everything we now know about. I don't know if her answer will even satisfy me… I guess I just need a little bit of closure. It may not help, but I have to try it, I suppose.
You also speak with Taiyin there.
Taiyin: I'm really glad Eli's judgement wound up being correct. I was worried for a while there that he was putting too much faith in people who didn't deserve it… I guess I was the one with the problem of faith, huh? Looking back on it… Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, as much as I hate to say it.
Lastly, You see Cyrus in the reception hall.
Cyrus: I expected to be stuck in the dungeon for a lot longer than I was. I can't blame you all for not trusting me, but… It's nice to be out in the sunlight again. Most Agarthans have come to hate it, but… I view it as a way of leaving the past behind. It's great.
You make your way to the cathedral from there. You see Cedric staring up at the statue of the goddess.
Cedric: I've wondered many times since the war began if all of this is part of some grand plan on behalf of the goddess… I haven't come up with a conclusive answer yet. I don't know if there's an answer that will satisfy me. If this is the plan… Why? Why war? Why any of this? It's cruel, isn't it? But we will never understand… It just isn't in the plan for any of us.
You find Druilla in the cathedral next.
Druilla: I never thought I would have a reason to come to Garreg Mach again… But this is nicer than I thought it would be. I suppose that's what I get for making assumptions. It's far from what it once was, but it's nice. I like it.
You approach Herwig as well.
Herwig: My younger sister went missing around the time the war broke out five years ago. I've been trying to find her ever since then, but I haven't made much progress. Every once in a while… I just need to come to the goddess and pray for her safety. It may not do much, but for my own peace of mind, I need to try.
You make your way down to Abyss from there. You see Gabriel in the Wilting Rose Inn upon your arrival.
Gabriel: I'm looking forward to hearing more about the rebellion in the Empire. If all goes well, they can get rid of my greatest problem for me. I wish I could enjoy the rest of the monastery… It's so close but so far. Such is my curse, I suppose.
You encounter Ansel on Burrow Street.
Ansel: I pray Eli was right in deciding to trust Cyrus and Druilla. He has a lot of faith in people, but it is easy to misplace your confidence. This world is distorted and cruel if the war is any indication… I just don't want him to fall victim to that darkness. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
You go to the Ashen Wolves classroom next. There, You find Magnus.
Magnus: I know we haven't been searching for Evenor anywhere near as long as the Knights of Seiros, but chasing around the image of her is getting incredibly frustrating. If only she would just come out of hiding… It's a shame that's too much to ask.
Lastly, You find Tsubasa in front of the Pagan Altar.
Tsubasa: The war just seems to get more exhausting as time goes on. There's always something else we need to pay attention to. There's no time for a break or rest… I shouldn't be surprised, but it still finds a way to sting. Of course it does. That's what war does to you whether you like it or not.
You go to the second floor of the monastery with your explorations of Abyss finished. You find Nesreen standing in the hallway there.
Nesreen: Part of me keeps thinking I'm going to enter the audience chamber and see Lady Aisa in there, but… Nothing. There's never been anything but my own broken dreams. Is it possible to get tired of something you made up? Because I'm getting really sick of this.
You go to the library next, and You see Niko inside.
Niko: I wish there was more information to go off when it came to the experimentation… Maybe there's a way to help the people who have suffered because of it, but we wouldn't know… It's all too new. I just want to understand. All of us do… But we don't have that opportunity, and it's awful each time I remember.
You find Tuncay in the audience chamber.
Tuncay: Another month, another battle… It's almost like the same routine we all fell into when we were still students and teachers going about our regular days in the Officers Academy. So much has changed since then, but I guess some things still stay the same, huh?
Lastly, You approach the cardinals' room and speak with Eli and Quinn.
Eli: There's no guarantee of finding anything that will lead us to Evenor, but…
Quinn: You can't help hoping for it?
Eli: No… It seems like all I can think about is what would happen if we found something that could point us in the direction. Maybe we could find the woman herself… No matter how impossible I know it is.
Quinn: Imagination can be a cruel thing… Always giving you just enough of an image of greatness before taking it away at the last moment.
Eli: It is cruel… And I wish it wasn't so.
You return to your room with your rounds of the monastery finished for the day. Seraphine speaks to You upon your return.
Seraphine: Evenor won't be able to stay in hiding forever, right? She's escaped everyone for ages, but… I don't know. There has to be something we can do that will bring her out of hiding. It might be a long shot, but I have to hope. It feels like it's all I can do at this point.
You nod your agreement.
Seraphine: …We'll find her. We'll find Janae too. No matter what it takes, we'll find a way. We have to.
You settle down for the night soon afterward, exhaustion creeping into your bones. You look forward to the mission at hand solely for the information it could provide You even though the chances of success are slim. When You fall asleep, your dreams tantalize You with images of Evenor from a past You have long since forgotten, but You never get close enough to touch her. Your dreams are just as cruel as reality, and when You awaken, the truth of that undeniable fact leaves a bitter taste on your tongue…
