AN: Snippets of Rimuru and Natsu in a relationship. I tried really hard to write Rimuru without a gender. Sorry if the sentences come off a little weird.
Warning: Rated M.
"Where are you taking me?" Rimuru questioned as Natsu was pulling the slime's wrist up a hill, a large smile on both their faces.
"A date!"
"I know that." Rimuru did an eye roll. "I'm asking where the date is?"
"Secret!"
"Secret?" Rimuru asked.
"Secret!" Natsu confirmed.
Rimuru chuckled.
They arrived at the top of the hill where a single tree stood.
"Here we are!" Natsu grinned, looking proud. He let go of Rimuru's hand and reached into his back pocket. He pulled out a. knife and made his way toward the tree. He carved out a heart on the bark and put 'N+' before handing the knife to Rimuru.
"Now put your first letter."
"This is the surprise?" Rimuru asked, taking the knife and carving an 'R.'
"Erza told me people do this as proof of their love! So I wanted to do this with you!" Natsu grinned.
"Natsu, this isn't a requirement." Rimuru did an eye roll and finished carving the R. Taking a step back, Rimuru and Natsu admired the carving. Seeing it, Rimuru broke out a smile. "But I'm glad we did it."
N+R.
Natsu + Rimuru.
Inside his house in Tempest, Natsu groaned as he shifted in his sleep on his bed. It was the anniversary of Igneel's death, he was bound to have nightmares. When he was younger, Igneel would let him hug his tail whenever he slept. It's become a habit of his to sleep while hugging something since. Happy would usually be the one he hugged, but the Exceed was with his parents for some catching up. As Natsu grew more uncomfortable in his sleep, it was only a matter of time until he woke up...
...If a certain slime didn't intervene.
Sensing his distress through the bond they share, Rimuru immediately left whatever they were working on and came to the Dragon Slayer's side. Rimuru quickly shifted to the human form. Without hesitating, Rimuru quickly slide between Natsu's arms and his body and pressed against him. The familiar scent and Rimuru's natural coolness made the son of Igneel stop fidgeting. He quickly wrapped his arms around Rimuru's waist and brought him in closer. Rimuru's cool body counteracts his hot body. He buried his nose in the slime's hair and inhaled deeply, knowing it was a scent he loved. Feeling satisfied, Natsu cuddled Rimuru with a grin on his face.
Rimuru had to work twice as much the next day. But if you asked the people around the slime, they said that their lord didn't regret a thing.
He stared at the slime on his lap, who was busy signing papers, with a neutral expression. Rimuru's new favorite spot to work was Natsu's lap. Not that the Fairy Tail member minded, he'd take any excuse he can get to spend time with Rimuru, but he wanted to flirt. That being said, he poked the slime's cheek.
"Not now Natsu." Not even looking at him, Rimuru moved the arm away. A paper was about to be signed when Rimuru felt the other cheek get poked. "I'm serious Natsu." Rimuru moved that arm away too. Not seeing any more retaliations, Rimuru continued the work.
The work that just got stolen by Natsu.
"Hey!" Getting annoyed, Rimuru tried to grab the papers but Natsu, being taller than Rimuru, kept them out of arms reach. When he leaned back a bit to keep the papers away, Rimuru turned around so they were facing each other. The slimy chancellor tried to get the papers but just couldn't make the reach. Pouting, Rimuru gave the best-displeased glare to Natsu. To Natsu's credit, he didn't so much as flinch when Rimuru glared at him. The two continued to stare for what felt like hours until Rimuru broke into a smile.
"Fine~," The slime drawled out. Patting Natsu's chest before hugging Natsu's neck. "You win."
Grinning victoriously, Natsu dropped the papers and grabbed Rimuru by the waist, pulling in for a kiss.
"And I'm off!" Natsu yelled as he waved to the residents of Tempest. It's been a while since he saw Fairy Tail so he wanted to visit them.
"Bye Natsu-sama!" Shuna waved.
"Safe travels!" Benimaru called out.
"Don't cheat on me!" Rimuru giggled. Natsu wouldn't do something like that, but Rimuru wanted to make a small joke. The chancellor laughed some more but stopped when Natsu was staring at the slime with a horrified expression.
"Why would you think that?" He whispered. "Is it because I'm not showing enough love? Am I not showing enough love so you think I'm two-timing you!?" He screeched hysterically.
"Natsu It's just a joke!" Rimuru tried in vain to calm Natsu down.
"That's it! I'm proving my love!" With that declaration, Natsu picked up Rimuru in a princess carry before blasting off by firing flames from his soles.
Mirajane was getting worried. Natsu said he was visiting today but she hadn't heard from the Dragon Slayer in two hours. She used the communication lacrima crystal, the one that looks like a crystal ball, to check in on him. The lacrima glowed to life as it shifted to see the Dragon Slayer, the wind blowing past him, with a panicked face.
"Natsu!?" Mirajane called out worriedly at seeing his expression. "What's wro-"
"For the last time, it was a joke!" Mirajane heard Rimuru's voice over the crystal. Shifting the crystal, she saw Natsu carrying the slime princess style, thousands of miles in the air, flying through the jets of fire from his feet. "Calm down!"
"I can't just 'calm down!' I'm panicking!"
"I noticed already!"
What was happening exactly? Mira was confused.
"Listen," Rimuru began. "just put me down and go to Fairy Tail-"
"FORGET THAT!" Natsu yelled, interrupting Rimuru. "I know you said it as a joke, I know I overreacted...But I can't help but let those feelings overtake me! So please-" Natsu gave Rimuru a look that was half pleading and half serious. "-just let me be a proper boyfriend today!"
Rimuru blushed.
Mirajane squealed.
Without another word, Natsu suddenly sped up and blasted out of view. The lacrima powered down as it lost connection. Later, when the Fairy Tail members wanted to order some food, they found the barmaid passed out with a bloody nose.
"Here we are!" At Natsu's request, Rimuru put on beach-styled clothing. White shorts, black sandals, and a red and yellow coral-styled t-shirt. Rimuru stared blankly as Natsu gestured to Akane Beach.
"Why?" Rimuru asked him.
"Prepare yourself Rimuru!" Natsu said enthusiastically. "We're going to be lovey-dovey for 3 days!"
"...Why?"
"Because three days are all I can get with my money!"
Rimuru sighed before noticing something. Something Akane Beach didn't usually lack. "Where is everyone?"
"I rented the entire resort."
"YOU WHAT!?" Rimuru yelled in shock. "How much did that even cost?!"
"All the money I saved," Natsu answered plainly.
"You idiot!" Rimuru facepalmed. "You should've used it for something you wanted to do!"
Natsu was. The money he used as part of the pile he was saving for when he found Igneel and forced the dragon to live with Fairy Tail. He was going to use the money to build a ginormous house. Since Igneel was twenty meters long. But since he died, Natsu didn't have a use for the money. His meals were hunted and he didn't buy new clothes since Rimuru gives them to him for free. So he just let it sit there. He never had a chance to use it.
Until today.
"But isn't giving using it for my lover the best thing I could use it for?" Natsu honestly asked with a head tilt.
Rimuru's face became flushed.
"...That's not fair." The slime said abashedly.
Natsu grinned. "I know." He took his lover's hand and went inside the hotel.
The beach!
A natural tourist attraction!
Made from sand and sea!
A place for relaxation and fun!
And bikinis!
Natsu never had any interest in bikinis. No one really explained the type of relationships men and women have. He bathed with Erza when he was younger sure, but that was only a bath. He didn't get the same feeling others had. When men would whistle and call out to women, he'd just stare blankly. He didn't feel anything. It's not like he was expecting anything from Rimuru. Since Rimuru is genderless, he usually wears pansexual clothing. Not that it really matters to him.
"Ah, what a nice breeze-dear god there's so much salt in the air." Natsu grimaced. Having enhanced senses was awesome, but they had their inconveniences. Now, where was Rimuru...
"Natsu!" He heard Rimuru's voice.
"Oh, Rimu-" He turned to the slime and froze.
Rimuru fully embraced his genderless life. So Natsu was used to seeing him in pansexual clothing. So his mind came to a stop when Rimuru wore a light blue frilly two-piece bikini. The bikini left little to the imagination. Noticing his stare, the humanoid slime fidgeted and looked away.
"I wanted to surprise you..."
Natsu officially loves bikinis. But only when Rimuru wears them.
Natsu released a breath of relief when he exited the bathroom in a white bathrobe. There's just something about bathrobes that make you feel rich. He took another look at his shared room before stopping at the bed.
"Paint me like one of your exceeds~." Rimuru, in a seductive pose, head on one hand and another on the hip, wearing an oversized black shirt, and a seductive grin.
Natsu hit the slime in the face with a pillow.
"Dude, let me go."
"No."
"Let me go."
"Noooooooo," Natsu whined, snuggling in more.
Rimuru huffed. Natsu was cuddly in the morning. This Rimuru knows from experience. He wouldn't let them leave the bed until he was satisfied, and that may take hours. But they are at a resort today. Rimuru wanted to make the most of it. Without hesitation, Rimuru bit down hard on the fire mage's hand and watched as he yelped and jumped off the bed. Rimuru only saw a pair of legs from the edge of the bed.
"...*ss."
Rimuru laughed.
"There's scuba-diving-"
"Ooh."
"-kayaking-"
"Aah."
"-hula dancing-"
"Hawaiian dancing?"
"Yeah."
"Neat."
"I know right?" Rimuru said, sitting on Natsu's lap in the dining room, skimming through the tourist guide the workers at Akane gave them. Natsu fed Rimuru a piece of the pancake before forking one for himself.
Natsu lay down on the couch. His head resting on the armrest. The scuba diving opened twenty minutes from now so he was waiting for the time to pass. Rimuru walked in, head buried in a magazine. He went to the side of the couch, where Natsu's feet couldn't reach, and plopped down. He turned himself to the right and leaned against the armrest and laid down. Natsu noticed Rimuru's legs were on top of his. So he quickly moved so they were on top instead.
Rimuru paused, took a glance at Natsu, before placing doing what he just did. Natsu took his legs from under Rimuru and placed it on top. Rimuru did the same. Natsu did it again. Rimuru followed. This exchange went back and forth until the couple just started to play kick each other. Rimuru set down the magazine, choosing to focus. on Natsu. The two eventually placed the bottom of their feet against one another and pushed. The two struggled against each other. They weren't going full strength, just enough to play. Since Rimuru had smaller feet, the slime curled the toes and tickled Natsu. The Dragon Slayer laughed and pulled his feet back. Rimuru gained a smug expression at winning their little game.
The scuba instructor was nervous.
From what she was told, two important figures were partaking in her lessons today. One of them was Natsu Dragneel. The Dragon Slayer went missing for a few months after the events with Tartaros. Apparently, he decided to train in a country ruled by monsters. And, if the rumors were to be believed, became lovers with the ruler of that place. Now Natsu and that ruler were taking her scuba lessons. Fun.
Thankfully, the lesson went off with a good start.
Unthankfully, a group of sea monsters just HAD to show up today!
They were covered in shimmering purple scales and had a build similar to a plesiosaur. A row of jagged dark blu spikes running down from the top of their heads to the tip of its long tail. Long thin white teeth and jaded eyes. The instructor backed up in fear as one of them approached the group. Just a she was about to drag her students for the day away, the monster lord, she couldn't tell what gender the slime was for the life of her, turned into a slime. A pale light blue blob. The slime shifted before suddenly expanding, engulfing the monster. The slime shrunk down to its original size before emitting a black mist. When. the mist settled, a carbon copy of the sea monster floated. Eyes sparkling, Natsu quickly swam over to Rimuru's enlarged back and held on tightly to the spikes. The slime quickly turned to the group of sea monsters, who was staring at the pair in fear, and swam to them at breakneck speeds.
The instructor watched blankly as Natsu, who was on fire...underwater, and Rimuru chased down the pod of sea monsters.
Natsu and Rimuru sat in a classy restaurant. Candlelight dinner and everything.
"These aren't bad," Rimuru said, taking another bite from the sushi made from the sea monster they hunted earlier.
"I know right?"
"Are you sure you're okay with me?" Rimuru asked, sitting beside Natsu on a rock formation by the sea watching the sunset.
"What do you mean?" Natsu asked.
"I was a guy in my past life," Rimuru explained.
"You told me, I remember."
"Aren't you bothered by that?"
Natsu hummed.
"Do you consider yourself a guy?
"W-Well, not anymore-"
"You don't care what gender you are perceived as right?"
"Y-yeah but-"
"Then why should I care about that." Natsu placed his hand on top of Rimuru's. "I knew you had no gender but still fell in love with you. Whether you are a slime or a human, a guy or girl, genderless or gender...ful?" Natsu questioned the last part, making Rimuru laugh. "I still chose to be in love with you."
"...I could decide to be a guy any moment."
"I can still hold you in my arms."
"I might lose control of Predator and eat you."
"No you won't."
"I will be busy with Tempest."
"I like the hard-working you."
"You might have to help me run Tempest."
"I would have more excuses to be with you."
"I can't give you children."
"We could always adopt."
Rimuru cried.
Natsu brought the slime in close.
"Alright." Natsu locked the door to their room.
Rimuru had been sitting on the bed, looking away from him. The slime had been strangely quiet since they went back to their room. It's not like he said anything weird during their conversation, he just told Rimuru what he honestly felt. Without another word, Natsu sat on the bed. He sat with Rimuru in silence before, but it wasn't this weird. They just lay next to each other and did nothing. It was peaceful and strangely satisfying. What was happening now is just uncomfortable. Was Rimuru offended by what he said? Did he find his speech cringey? He can't help it! That's just how he honestly feels-
His train of thought hit a dead end when Rimuru suddenly hugged him from behind. Rimuru's arms snaked around his neck and the slime's breathe tickled the Dragon Slayer's ears.
"We...have this resort all to ourselves right?" Rimuru whispered. Natsu shivered and nodded. He suddenly found himself on his back. "Good."
Looking up, Rimuru's eyes had pink hearts in them as it bore into his onyx-colored ones. The slime quickly began undressing.
"Let's make the most out of it."
Rimuru smiled sweetly at the receptionist while leaning against Natsu's arm. The slime was practically glowing. Natsu and the receptionist had unhealthy blushes on their faces. The people at Akane Resort had failed to inform them that their rooms weren't soundproofed.
"I-Er-I-um-I-I h-h-ope y-y-you enjoy-ed y-y-your stay." The receptionist stammered. She was on the younger side, it was natural for her to be embarrassed about this.
"Oh, trust me," Rimuru spoke out before Natsu could say anything. "We enjoyed it very much." The slime finished with a perverse grin.
Natsu's face burst into flames in embarrassment.
"C'mon Natsu!" The slime dragged him away. "We need to meet up with Fairy Tail!"
"Sorry for whatever trouble he has caused you." Makarov bowed to Rimuru.
"No sweat." Rimuru waved him off. "I really enjoyed it after all."
"I know." Makarov gruffly complained. "Akane Resort sent me a complaint that one of our mages were being, 'Too loud.'"
Rimuru blushed in embarrassment.
"Yeah, I kinda let my emotions take over." Rimuru grinned bashfully.
"No judge." The grandpa smiled. "I'm happy you too are enjoying yourselves." He shifted his gaze shifted to Natsu, who was surrounded by his fellow Fairy Tail mages who were grilling him for details about Tempest and Akane Resort.
"For as long as I've known him, Natsu was scared of losing people. Being separated from his father, the only family he ever knew at the time, left a deep scar on his heart. He thought he wasn't strong enough to be with his father and blamed himself for being too weak." Makarov adopted a sad look. "He never showed it, but he had doubts. He doubted whether he could keep a family like this for long. He doubted if he deserved us. And once he was sure we wouldn't throw us away, he gained insane loyalty. I never seen a mage so devoted to their guild like Natsu. It's as if we were the only things that mattered in the world. But then..."
"...Igneel died." Rimuru finished for him. Makarov nodded.
"He cut off connections since. He wouldn't leave his house, he'd eat little food, and wouldn't get enough sleep, he wouldn't properly care for himself. Not even Happy could cheer him stopped missioning for months to try and convince Natsu to leave his house. So when we found a letter saying he has gone exploring, we were extremely worried. No one knew where he went. hat if he was attacked? What if he was killed? What if he committed...well, I don't need to finish that sentence do I?" The guild master took a chug of his beer. "Then one day, we heard rumors of a Fairy Tail mage being spotted in a monster country. We set out to find him and...we met you." Makarov shrugged.
"I remember." Rimuru thought bitterly.
"Sorry for attacking you out of the blue." Makarov smiled apologetically. "We were worried about our family and acted with emotion."
"It's alright. You gave my subordinates a good workout." Rimuru smiled.
Makarov smirked. "If Natsu hadn't stopped us, who knows what could've happened."
"Yeah." The two laughed.
"...I was surprised to see Natsu smile. I thought it was too good to be true. That Natsu found the strength to move on. But I didn't realize...he found a reason to smile."
As Fairy Tail mages and Tempest residents partied late in the night, Makarov spotted Natsu and Rimuru by one of Shuna's sweets stalls. The pair was looking at it with wonder. Natsu was pointing rapidly at each of them with a drool until Rimuru slapped him softly on the arm. Natsu grinned in embarrassment before holding up two fingers. Shuna handed the two takoyaki. Finishing his in one bite, Natsu licked his lips in delight. Looking at Rimuru, who held a takoyaki ball between the teeth, and was distracted by the party going on. In one swift motion, Natsu turned Rimuru to face him and plucked the takoyaki ball right from the slime. Their lips met for a brief moment before Natsu pulled away and swallowed it. After processing what had happened, Rimuru blew up with rage and embarrassment as Natsu simply laughed.
Makarov smiled fondly at the memory.
"I don't think I said it properly."
Standing up, Makarov turned to Rimuru and bowed deeply.
"Thank you so much for taking care of my grandson."
Blushing, Rimuru nodded.
"Don't worry," The slime smiled. "I won't let anything happen to him."
"Benimaru!" Rimuru called out in worry. The slime was shocked to see him and the other kijin surround Youm, Myulan, and Grucius.
After leaving Tempest in Natsu's care, Rimuru went to fulfill Shizu's dying wish. Natsu understood it was something personal, so he offered to stay behind. After about two weeks, Rimuru was informed by Souei that he was attacked. Rimuru was then attacked by Hinata, who said that Tempest was going to be destroyed. Thinking quickly, Rimuru left a clone to fight Hinata and waited until she left. Once she did, Rimuru quickly teleported to Tempest.
"Rimuru-sama!" Shion and Shuna cried out in shock at seeing their lord.
"Myulan is under investigation as a primary suspect." Benimaru's voice sounded calm, but Rimuru could sense great anger hidden beneath.
"What happened?"
Everyone besides Rimuru gained troubled expressions. No one wanted to answer. Myulan didn't want to answer out of guilt. Youm and Grucius didn't want to answer out of fear of what might happen to Myulan. And the kijin didn't want to answer out of shame. How could they face their lord after this?
With a heavy heart, Benimaru asked Rimuru to follow him.
Along the way, Rimuru saw several burnt and destroyed houses and shops. As they were walking, Benimaru's face grew more and more worried. From the distance, Rimuru spotted a crowd of monsters, all murmuring amongst themselves. When they spotted their lord, they quickly made their way. Rimuru was confused. What were they so worried about?
Then Rimuru saw the body.
No.
"When...when we were attacked...He came in to rescue us." Benimaru sobbed. "He was able to easily stop them...but then they cast the Anti Magic Barrier..."
No.
"His magic power was severely diminished...But he still fought them off..."
No.
"...Then knights came in from the woods..."
Stop.
"They were carrying enchanted swords...swords that were capable of cutting through the magic defenses of any living creature...A technique found in Fiore..."
Please.
"...He was overwhelmed..."
Stop.
"..He managed to distract them...so everyone could escape."
Stop.
"No one else was injured..." Benimaru quickly got down to one knee, fist deep in the ground. "Please forgive me for failing to protect him!" The rest of the monsters followed Benimaru's example. But Rimuru wasn't paying attention to them. The eyes of their lord was focused on one thing and one thing only.
Natsu Dragneel's lifeless corpse.
Body covered in cuts.
Blood oozing from every part.
Cold, lifeless, onyx eyes.
A fire with no spark.
"We didn't expect the attackers to be hidden as merchants. We were respectful to the humans as ordered-"
"SILENCE!" Rigurd yelled in fury, interrupting the old hobgoblin. "...be silent." The hobgoblin's eyes widened with horror as he realized what he might have insinuated.
"M-my apologies lord Rimuru!" He bowed as deeply as he could. "I didn't mean-"
"We were respectful to the humans as ordered-" The words rang in the slime's mind.
"Rule number three, be kind to humans!"
"Why? I like humans!"
Ah.
They were following my orders.
"If I hadn't cast the barrier, none of this wouldn't have happened," Myulan said as she walked towards to Rimuru, She took a step back when she felt Rimuru's aura increased before simmering down.
"...Lock her away," Rimuru muttered.
"Boss I-" Youm began.
"I SAID LOCK HER AWAY!" The slime snapped.
The monsters were stunned. Rimuru never snapped at anyone. Geld and Hakurou, who understand what Rimuru is going through, grabbed Myulan and led her away. Everyone else waited in silence for their lord.
"Leave me alone." Rimuru said.
"But-" Shion reached towards her lord.
"THAT'S AN ORDER!" The secretary flinched back. "...I'm sorry. I just...I need to be alone."
With sad looks, the crowd began to disperse. Shuna was going to give Rimuru a hug but Benimaru stopped her. Shaking his head, he led his little sister away. Rimuru didn't want anyone near him. So he'll make sure no one does. That's the least he could do after failing to protect Natsu. Fearing that the monsters might get injured, Rimuru used Great Sage to equip a mask exactly like Shizu's
'How did it come to this?' Rimuru thought.
'Notice, cannot be answered.' Great Sage responded.
'Was there a right choice?'
'Notice, cannot be answered.'
"Hey...Is this my fault?"
'...Notice, cannot be answered.'
Once everyone was gone, Rimuru walked toward Natsu's corpse and closed his eyes. Rimuru shook, gritting teeth in anger, and screamed.
As overflowing emotions turned to tears, the lonely lord roared alone.
Three days.
Three days Rimuru searched.
Using Great Sage to its fullest potential, Rimuru searched for a way to bring Natsu back to life.
Nothing.
There wasn't a single way to bring Natsu back to life.
But Rimuru searched.
And searched.
This was something Rimuru couldn't give up on.
So the slime searched.
And searched.
Despair comes when one hopes.
And Rimuru hoped to revive Natsu.
To see him smile.
To see him laugh.
To see him breathe.
To hug him.
To kiss him.
To do anything!
But nothing would work.
So the slime cried again.
"Rimuru!" Eren, also known as Elyune, yelled. She spotted the slime with an arm raised above Natsu's body. She froze at his corpse but shook her head.
Rimuru needed to hear this.
"Hey Eren." Eren's face contorted into shock. Rimuru's voice...was wrong. The slime was a genius, that Eren knew, and managed to sound smart yet playful at the same time. Rimuru would quickly get annoyed but would still be in a good mood.
The voice right now...was broken.
There was no life. No joy. No laughter. No light. Deep, dark despair was the only thing that resounded.
"Please take a step back." Rimuru continued, shifting back to Natsu. "I have a job to finish."
Knowing what Rimuru was about to do, Eren acted quickly.
"The possibility is low...so low it's impossible..." She began as a black mist started to pour out of Rimuru's hand. "But there is a fairy tale about a resurrection of the dead-" She yelped. Rimuru, who was a good distance away, was in front of her in a flash. Hands placed themselves on her shoulders. With the speed Rimuru traveled, the mask that adorned his face flew off. So Eren had a perfect view of it.
The golden eyes that shone with greatness were filled with agony. The eyelids had a heavy dosage of eye bags. A face filled with nothing but desperation and a hint of hope.
"Tell me that story," Rimuru rasped. "NOW!"
Ten thousand.
Rimuru needed ten thousand souls to become a Demon Lord and revive Natsu.
Ten thousand people needed to die.
All this time, Rimuru had been thinking with the common sense of Satoru Mikami. Not to kill people, humans, without reason.
But now Satoru was a monster, a slime. And that slime killed other monsters.
Natsu was ready to accept the new Rimuru.
But Saturo wasn't ready for it.
But that was then.
This is now.
"Lord Rimuru," Souei contacted Rimuru through telepathy. "We have just been contacted by Treyni. She said that the army of Farmus and the Western Holy Church had started marching through the forest. A total of twenty thousand soldiers."
"...It's enough."
"My lord?"
"Nothing," Rimuru responded. "I'm just relieved that it's enough."
"So because you valued you pitiful life more, you decided to put my people at harm...and kill the one I love?" Rimuru's voice was stone cold. "Is that right?"
Myulan nodded.
"I've decided." Rimuru stood up from the chair. "You need to die."
She was already ready to accept her fate.
This was inevitable. She had played her part in a catastrophe that ended with the death of Rimuru's lover. It was only natural she'd die.
"Please wait boss-!" You scrambled to his feet.
"There's no point Youm." Grucius had fur growing from his body.
"Grucius?!" Youm stared in shock as Grucius transformed into his beast form.
"Those of the eyes of someone serious!" Grucius quickly rushed at Rimuru, only to be blocked by Benimaru. "Take Myulan and go! I don't know how long I can hold them off!"
Quickly nodding, Youm went to Myulan.
"C'mon Myulan, we need to-" A pair of soft lips cut him off. Slightly smiling at his dumbfounded expression, Myulan shook her head to the side.
"Please try not to be tricked by a terrible woman again." She told him.
Next thing Youm knew, he was cocooned to the wall as Rimuru made his way to Myulan.
"Boss wait-"
"Do you know what it's like to watch the one you love die?"
Those words made every one pause. Grucius stopped struggling as he and Benimaru observed Rimuru.
"At first, it doesn't really settle in. The one you love more than anyone in the world dying? Who could accept that?" The sound from Rimuru's footsteps seemed to get louder. "But when you do accept it, you start breaking down. You scream and cry, blaming god why he took their life. 'How could you do this to me?!' you think. You view it as unfair and start refusing to eat, sleep, or drink, and you forget to breathe until you start choking. You search desperately for a way to be with them...but then you find nothing."
Although taller, Myulan felt small standing next to Rimuru.
"Imagine being stabbed. Imagine the thing you were stabbed with was a hook. A hook that managed to snake its way around your heart. Imagine your assailant suddenly ripping the hook out, heart along with it, before suddenly pushing it back in. Imagine the hook twisting, shredding any organs in your body. You scream for help but no one arrives. So you lay there and cry, knowing no one will save you as the torture continues." Despite Rimuru wearing a mask, Myulan felt intimidated when she saw the slime do a head tilt.
"Did you imagine it?"
Myulan nodded fearfully.
"Congratulations," Rimuru clapped, black mist forming around the right hand shaped like a blade. "You have a shred of what I felt when I saw Natsu die."
Without warning, Rimuru stabbed Myulan's heart.
Myulan was greatly confused.
She was sure Rimuru had stabbed her heart.
"I-I'm not dead?"
"Yeah, you were dead for like, three seconds?" Rimuru said nonchalantly.
"Three seconds?!"
"Yup."
Youm continued to stare at them with his jaw dropped as Benimaru released his hold on Grucius.
"Sorry for scaring you, but I wanted a bit of revenge for Natsu." Rimuru smiled. After all, knowing the Dragon Slayer, he wouldn't have blamed Myulan for his death.
"I will become a Demon Lord," Rimuru announced to the people present.
Rimuru called a meeting to discuss how to deal with Farmus and the revival of Natsu. In order to revive Natsu, then Rimuru must become a Demon Lord. Seeing as no one was going to say anything, Rimuru proceeded with the meeting by asking everyone's opinion on humans.
"...Truthfully, I cannot forgive the humans." A male hobgoblin spoke up. "It's not that I don't agree with the following of the strong. However, this was a surprise invasion. I have no respect for cowardly curs."
"Me too...I no longer have the confidence to treat them the same way I did before." Ririna stated uneasily. "After all, there's no guarantee that people like them won't hide among the merchants and adventurers again."
"Oi, in case you two forgot," Benimaru growled. "Natsu is human."
The two monsters winced.
No, they didn't forget.
Natsu was the first human they got along with. He'd help them out regardless of no reward. He'd never ask for anything in return. He became the figurehead in human and monster relationships. Since he was loved and respected on both sides, it was easier to befriend the humans.
They were scared when the humans attacked. But Natsu came in and saved everyone, even at the cost of his own life. There's no way they could come to hate him. But the fear of humans attacking them, slaughtering them, was still etched in their minds. A sense of distrust in humans that couldn't be so easily quenched.
"...Natsu was great." Everyone shifted to the mini hobgoblin. Gobta, surprisingly, had a serious look on his face as tears tickled the corner of his eyes. "He trained me, he hunted with me, he laughed with me, he ate Shion's cooking for me-"
"HEY!"
"-And he was the best human I ever hoped to befriend." Gobta sniffed. "He believed that Tempest could unify humans and monsters. He said he looked forward to seeing it someday. I hate the knights from Farmus who killed him, but people like him and Youm are good. They're clearly the exception."
"I agree with Gobta," Rigur said, giving Gobta a proud look. "Natsu had been with us since the start of Tempest and Cabal's group came all the way here out of concern. They are trustworthy friends. That is what I believe."
"...The people who first offered their help were sir Myourmiles and the human adventurers," Rigurd confessed. "While we call them human, we shouldn't lump them all together. There are those we can call our allies and those we cannot."
"But shouldn't all human interaction be banned for the time being?"
"No, if we do that, then the trust we built with Blumud could be lost."
Even though the conversation was serious, Rimuru was glad to see they were considering coexisting with humans still. But the truth needed to be revealed. With a heavy heart, Rimuru told them how they came to know the slime today. Starting from Rimuru's reincarnation.
Shogo just wanted to kill monsters.
He was summoned to be a hero, it's his right!
Just start up trouble in the monster city, wait for the humans to leave, then kill everyone inside. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
That pink-haired human was a pain. He would have lost if they hadn't put the Anti Magical Barrier in time. But the guy was still hard to bring down. How could he take ten swords in the stomach and still punch? Well, he got his desserts by kicking the guy's corpse. If he heard correctly, that guy disgustingly fell in-love with the lord of that place. So killing him should lower their fighting spirit.
But seriously, when were they going to attack, he was getting bored.
"Oi captain, when are they-" Shogo's eyes widened when he saw the captain's head gain a perfect circle through it. The captain's body fell and everyone in the campsite scrambled to their positions. Shogo quickly adopted an excited look. The fun was beginning! Now to kill those monsters!
If only he knew the terror that awaited.
"AGHHHHH!" A soldier cried out in pain as he was cut from the liver up.
Souei's group quickly tore through the forces swiftly. Their blades easily passed through their shields. Soka stabbed a guard's head without emotion. Kill, then break the crystal. No need to lose her cool here.
"Sh*t!" The squad leader cursed. "They are too powerful! Retreat for now-"
"C'mon Souei!" Natsu held up a punching bag. "If you want to be the best ninja there is, then you need practice! Lucky for you, I am an expert at this sort of thing." Natsu smiled. "So let's train together!"
Without hesitation, Souei used his strings to decapitate the leader's head. He stared at the remaining ones, eyes filled with a cold dark rage.
While this may not satisfy his anger, it should help him calm down.
The knights tried, and failed, to block the fire that rained down on them from the dragon-newts maws.
"Hurry the air defense formation!" The leader barked. "These aren't you normal lizardmen!"
"That's because we are dragon-newts." The leader quickly turned to Gabiru, who had landed near the squad leader, ready to attack with the trident in hand. The leader quickly brought distance between himself and Gabiru.
"I don't know what others tell you, but I think you're really cool Gabiru!" Natsu told him. "You're descendants of dragons! Stand tall and be proud!"
"There's no way that there could be this many dragon-" The leader's words dies in his throat as Gabiru suddenly appeared in front of him and stabbed him in the head. With a mighty pull, Gabiru pulled the trident back, taking the leader's head with it.
"Ah...ah...ahhhh..." A young soldier, turning twenty this year, was frozen in terror.
The flames, dancing beautifully in the sunlight, looked like the pits of hell as the screams of his fellow soldiers burned within them.
"I...I haven't heard anything about this..." The lad muttered to himself. "About such mon-"
"One thing to remember about when using flames," Natsu told him. "Is that you can't let them control you. Fire is the foundation of life and death. It burns away all in its path and leaves behind a scorched earth that can grow into a great paradise. Fire is a wild emotion. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but a little control doesn't hurt anybody. But always remember, fuel your fire with the thoughts of protecting your friends. Not revenge."
In one quick motion, Benimaru cut off his head with one swipe of a flaming sword. A quick and painless death.
"Sorry," Benimaru sheathed his sword. "I had to let out some steam."
"Disastrous Earthquake Foot Stomp!" With a mighty...stomp...Geld shook the earth, breaking the knights formation.
"Quickly! Get into positio-" A knight yelled before a pair of fangs descended upon him.
The giant wolf Rigur was riding bit down on the knight's head and threw it away. It quickly growled at the remaining knights, who were approaching cautiously. Rigur swiped at an incoming soldier, letting his blood fly.
'These knights are surprisingly weak." Rigur thought as he watched Geld and Hakurou approach the two male otherworlders 'Hakurou and Geld will have no issue dealing with them.'
"Who are you supposed to be, old man?" Kyouya asked Hakurou.
"Just as you said. An old man." The sword master smiled.
"It would be better if you admit defeat and run away." Even though he was smiling, Kyouya was radiating ill intent.
"Ohohoho," Hakurou continued to smile. "But I hate to lose."
"And to that-" Kyouya quickly thrust his sword toward the elderly kijin.
"Don't get conceited young man," Hakurou said, blocking Kyouya's blade with his own. "Extreme unpleasantries."
Hakurou sent Kyouya flying back, who managed to land on his feet. Staggering a bit, Kyouya grits his teeth before smiling cockily.
"Shut up old man!" Kyoya's eyes started to glow as he activated his Celestial Eyes. "This is where you die!"
Hakurou sighed. "Well, since we have this chance, let me show you a move Natsu-sama and I perfected."
In a flash, Hakurou disappeared. Kyouya, greatly confused, looked left and right. His Celestial Eyes increase his recognition process, by his words, three hundred folds. It should give him every advantage over any opponent. Hakurou shouldn't have disappeared like he just did. As he was looking, he noticed the world started to spin.
"Eh?" While upside down, he saw his own body decapitated.
"...I recognize you," Hakurou said as he grabbed the teen's head by the hair. "Did you enjoy it? When you cut Natsu-sama's vital organs to make him suffer? Or When he pushed the residents out of harm's way and took the blows for them?"
Hakurou remembers it clearly. His eyes bore into Kyouya's own. Kyouya, with little strength left, could only stare as the elder kijin stared at him with burning fury.
"It is over for you."
Kirara was painting her nails inside the tent. She couldn't help the knights from earlier, her voice wouldn't be able to reach them with all the noise. So she opted to wait inside the tent until Shogo and Kyouya finished killing the intruders. They were just low-level monsters, no need to get serious.
"You took your time," Kirara complained when Shogo entered the tent. "Is it over already?"
"...Sorry Kirara." Shogo grinned.
This was the kill he needed to beat that pig.
Turns out it wasn't the kill he needed to beat that pig.
"I gave you too much credit," Geld spoke and glared darkly. "You are no warrior."
Geld kicked him out of the tent. The orc walked to the otherworlder's fallen form and lifted him by the hair. Shogo gripped and started punching Geld's arm to try and break free.
"Let me go! Let me-" Geld punched his face to shut him up.
"I'm not sure why you need to feel so guilty about that." Natsu tilted his head at him. "Everyone doesn't blame you, so why should you blame yourself? If you keep focusing on the past, you'll never be able to move forward. Keep that in mind ok?"
Geld punched Shogo's shoulder. The force of the punch cracked the area and caused blood to be sent flying out. Not relenting, Geld punched his face, torso, body, and every part till he was a pulp. Shogo couldn't keep up with the consecutive punches and was reduced to an unrecognizable state and was begging and crying at the orc for him to stop.
"How pitiful," Geld said. He dropped Shogo like a sack of potatoes and grabbed his axe. "I'll end this in a single blow."
Screaming in terror, Shogo tried to run away, but he has sustained too much damage. Leaving him to pathetically crawl. Geld's axe was about to make contact when a magi force field blocked it.
"So Shogo is to only one who survived huh? Seems like I underestimated you monsters." An elderly man by the name of Razen appeared in front of Shogo. "Sorry to say this, but Shogo is a valuable asset to Farmus. I can't let you kill him."
"Oh, what a shame." Hakurou walked over to them with faux sadness. "Careful Geld, you can't attack him just yet. He's covered the area with traps." He told the orc, who was ready to chop the mage in half.
"Haha, very shrewd of you to notice!." Razen laughed. "Wisdom comes with age as they say."
"I don't want to hear that from you." The elderly kijin dropped the act and showed his displeasure. "You can't tell me you came all this way to save him." Hakurou gestured to Shogo.
"He may not look it, but he's valuable. We can't afford to lose him." Razen smiled. "I would rather not deal with you two right now, so I'll have to take my leave. We may meet again on the battlefield. If you survive that is."
"I very much doubt that."
Razen had a look of confusion at the kijin's confident words.
"The battlefield where you're heading is attended by my master. You have gone too far this time. You hurt something you shouldn't have and enraged the one creature in this world you never should have riled. I pity you. Your death will not be an easy one."
"Ha-ha-ha!" Razen laughed at the absurdness of Hakurou's words. "Enough with your bluffing! But if you mean it as a warning, I shall keep it in mind." Razen activates a teleportation spell. He led Shogo through it before casting one last glance at the two monsters. "Farewell!"
With that, he was gone. Leaving Geld and Hakurou in silence. The orc sheathed his axe before sighing in pity.
"...The fool."
Hakurou nodded.
"What is this?"
"Are these water droplets?"
The soldiers continued to chat to one another at the balls of water floating around them.
"Lord Rimuru, the magic devices have been destroyed. No casualties." Benimaru informed his lord.
"Alright, well done. Go to town and help the others."
"Yes sir."
With the connection off, Rimuru turned back to the confused soldiers. The slime did promise not to attack in a blind rage, but making them feel hopeless is alight, right?
'All that's left,' Rimuru thought to himself. 'Is my duty.'
"Those who invaded my territory, murdered the one I love, pay with your lives!" Multiple water-like discs started appearing around Rimuru. "May the anger of the gods sear through your very soul!"
With one final shout, Rimuru unleashed the rage within.
"Megiddo!"
The king of Farmus was shaking.
One minute he was relaxing in his luxurious tent with Rayhiem. Eating grapes as they planned how to use the riches of this country for their use. Then his soldiers started muttering something about water droplets.
Then the screaming began.
One by one, he watched their silhouettes fall to the ground. Their horrific screams are silenced instantly. Blood splattered on the tent. The sound of metal being ripped apart. Death all around them.
Despair awaits.
"My king!" One of the otherworlders, Shogo he thinks, came running in with Folgen. "It is me, Razen! Are you safe?!"
Razen. His court mage. That makes more sense. The otherworlders didn't address him as 'My king.'
"I'll gather soldiers to make a shield." Folgen declared before rushing out of the tent
"W-wait Foglen, what about my Royal Gaurd!? Who'll protect me?!" The king screamed hysterically.
"Calm down my liege," Razen advised. "The situation is still salvageable-" The words died in his throat as a light pierced through his head. Razen fell face first as the king shrieked in fear.
"You the king?"
King Edmaris shivered.
T-That voice.
It wanted to kill.
His gaze fell on a girl with a peculiar mask with long light blue hair. The magic aura he was clad in made him weak in the knees. It was only out of fear that he dared not move.
'Who was that?' He wondered. The ruler of the monster nation was described to be a weak-minded individual new to ruling and easily tricked. The one in front of him did not fit that description.
A ruthless killing machine with no qualms about who or what dies.
He gulped.
He can't afford to make mistakes.
"Are you the king?"
"Y-Yes! I am King Edmaris-"
The hand grabbed his face. It was cold. So, so cold. Death. It seeked death. His death. No mercy.
Run. He needed to run away from the war. Away from this nation. Away from this monster. He..he needed to-
His vision turned black.
Rimuru lifted his hand from the king's smashed face. He wasn't dead, not yet, but he wouldn't wake anytime soon. He was faintly aware of the bald guy in robes kneeling and saying he was an archbishop. Rimuru paid him no mind. The slime was more focused on the new skill gained, Merciless. As with the namesake, he activated it without mercy.
One turned to two. Two turned to three. Three to four. Four to five. The numbers kept pilling after the hundreds. The corner of his vision turned black but the smile on Rimuru's face was wide. Great Sage's voice giving him the greatest news yet.
'Notice, 10,000 human souls gained. Evolution to True Demon Lord shall now begin.'
'Wait just a bit longer,' Rimuru thought.
"Ah, what pleasure,"
The opportunity to serve his lord...
He shivered in ecstasy.
How delightful.
"Come, we must not disappoint him." The two demons obediently followed.
Noir smiled. A little longer, just a bit more. If he does this then...then he'll meet his one true lord. He remembers it clearly. No matter how many years pass, there would be no mistaking that figure.
The sky burned as hellfire rained down. A dragon with maroon and beige scales littered with scars to show its strength fell to the ground. It hissed in annoyance before flying back into its fight. There, flying with wings as black as shadows with glowing red veins in the shape of patches of blood he stood.
God Slayer.
Rule Breaker.
Immortal Killer.
The path to death.
The Progenirator.
His one true lord.

I'll be honest, I didn't think I would be able to write this much.
