Upon returning from the commercial break, the squid launched the maggots ahead of Jo and Lightning and onto the island.

Zoey: Hey! We're in first place.

Everyone clapped it up for Cameron.

"Cameron rocks!" Gwen said before giving him a high 5.

"Way to go, bro," Mike said.

"Best bubble dude we ever met," Dakota said.

"Maggots rule!" Anne Maria commented.

Cameron thanked the others, especially those on his team.

Scott: How am I supposed to vote off my teammates if we never lose?

"Seriously?" Dakota asked. "I just saved your life and voting one of us out is how you say thanks?"

"I had better movements on the other team," Scott commented.

"Sure, you did," Dawn replied.

Chris then arrives in a helicopter, which Dakota fails to reach.

Zoey: Calm down BFF! Violence won't solve this. Besides, we won!

"Yeah," Dakota said. "I'm happy we won. I'm upset about being a mutant bitch!"

Everyone gasped at what she said.

"I'm so sorry," Dakota said while hugging Zoey. "I just got super exasperated, okay?"

"I get it," Zoey said. "We're all upset with him."

"Really?" Scott asked.

"You're nothing compared to Chris," Dawn told him.

"Thanks," Scott commented.

Chris: And because you won, you get these.

Cameron: A map and a compass? Sweet!

"Now it's beginning to look like a treasure hunt," Anne Maria said. "Just wish we had some pirate costumes."

"Then it would really look like we're hunting for buried treasure," Mike added.

"Argh!" Everyone from season 4 said before laughing together.

Jo and Lightning arrive.

Chris: Now, the second part of today's challenge started off as a practical joke involving classic Total Drama competitor: Gwen.

"It did?" Lindsay asked.

"Started as a joke," Gwen said. "What happened next, I despise."

The screen turns on and it shows…

Gwen: What the? Oh no. I'm buried alive?! Again?! Chris!

"Shiver me timbers!" Beth shouted. "Chris left Gwen buried with no way out!"

Everyone else had their jaws dropped.

"Are you kidding me?" Dawn angrily asked.

"Being buried alive is Gwen's biggest pet peeve," Lindsay commented.

"I thought it was being treated like a punching bag," Mike commented.

"They're both equally huge pet peeves," Gwen replied. "But I hated being buried alive more."

"I am so sick of that asshole McLean calls cool," Anne Maria commented.

Mike: Burying someone alive is seriously dangerous, even by your standards.

Chris: That's why we're using the buddy system, and instead of letting last year's losers have all the fun, we bought in one of this year's duds.

"So, he changed his mind about Brick?" Dawn asked.

"Or did Dawn come back for revenge?" Scott asked.

It is revealed to be Sam.

Dakota: Sam! Sam's back! Does he still have a crush on Dakota?

"Hard to respond when the one you ask is sleeping," Sam answered.

"Must have been a nice nap," Dakota said.

Chris: Guy ate a whole pot of Chef's buttolini, so he didn't put up much of a fight.

"And that's why I avoid eating meat at all costs," Dawn said.

"Same can be said about Lightning and his protein," Cameron added.

"Bridgette and those vegans: Laurie and Miles will say the same thing," Gwen commented.

Everyone else nodded in agreement. Dakota becomes angry and mutates further with an increase in height, orange skin, shoulder and elbow spikes, and even grows a tail.

"Oh my god!" Beth said. "You're scaring me!"

"I can't believe I fell in love with that," Sam said.

"None of us can," Mike said. "Those mutant freaks wanna eat others whole."

"Timeout!" Dakota said. "Mutant freak or not, how the hell do you think I'd eat other humans?"

"I don't know," Mike said.

"We just didn't enjoy seeing you like that," Zoey commented.

"Not even I find it cool anymore," Sam added.

Chris: We're gonna need some elephant tranquilizers. Maggots, you've got your compass and your map to the general vicinity of the chest at the northern tip of the island. Now go!

"Treasure hunting for our friends?" Mike responded. "This ought to be cool."

"And away we go!" Scott said.

Unfortunately, before Jo and Lightning can follow them, Chef locks the two in penalty belts.

Lightning: These must weigh a hundred pounds.

Chris: A hundred and twenty to be precise.

"Man, that's heavy," Mike said.

"Speak for yourself," Jo said. "At least that giant squid didn't grab you by the chest."

"No," Cameron said. "But it did help us fly into the lead."

Chris then gives Jo and Lightning a metal detector before sending them off.

"Chris said it was useless," Jo said.

"That could've helped us find the chest Gwen and Sam are in too," Zoey said.

"You think all that toxic waste destroyed the power in that detector?" Harold asked.

"I could've helped fix it," Cody said.

"Me too," Harold commented.

Back in the buried chest, it was time for a phone call.

Gwen: Where's my- oh. Lousy Chris and his stupid game on his crummy show.

"I feel you Gwen," Trent said.

"We all do," Courtney commented.

"The second we show all this to the RCMP, they're gonna regret having him sentenced for only one year," Brick said.

"Yeah," Anne Maria said.

Chris answers the phone and asks hello.

Gwen: You've gone too far this time McLean. You can't-

A fart noise is then heard.

Gwen: That wasn't me. This guy won't stop farting. I can't breathe. *Passes out*

"Not cool Sam!" Dakota said.

"Your farting knocked Gwen out!" Lindsay commented.

"Sorry about that," Sam said while chuckling. "Chris said I ate a whole pot of food."

"That's too much for one person," Mike said.

"I'm not sure if even Owen can eat that much without farting," Justin commented.

The maggots arrive at a swamp.

Scott: Smells like home.

"I agree," Beth said.

"Sure, you do," Mike said.

"You two grew up on somewhat smelly farms," Harold said.

"Hey!" Beth and Scott pouted.

"Somewhat smelly," Harold commented. "I'm sure you keep them clean."

"We do," Scott said.

Mike: There's a path around the swamp, but it'll take too long.

Scott: Jo and Lightning don't know that. *While Cameron and Mike head off* But I'll make sure they do.

"Finally," Anne Maria said. "Scott does something good for the maggots."

"Maybe that'll finally rid ourselves from Lightning," Zoey said.

"Let's hope so," Gwen said.

The rest of the maggots then move along.

Scott: Oh man! Sam's probably suffocating by now.

Dakota notices it and dashes off, leaving Zoey and Scott with the latter of the two thanking the former.

"Sorry about dropping you," Dakota said.

"I get it," Zoey said. "You were worried about Sam."

"Yeah," Mike said. "Whenever Zoey's in trouble, I drop everything and come to her rescue."

Zoey thanked Mike by kissing him, leaving him blushing while everyone else was in awe.

Scott: Zoey, If I tell you something, do you promise to keep it a secret?

Zoey: Of course. What is it?

"This is going places," Anne Maria said.

"You finally gonna tell Zoey the truth about you and Dawn?" Cameron asked.

"Or that you caused my alternate personalities to go wild?" Mike asked.

"None of you can tell anyone," Scott said. "Got it?"

Everyone nodded.

Scott reveals something to Zoey.

Zoey: Huh, the invincibility statue. Scott: I can't believe I found it.

"You had the invincibility statue the whole time?" Jo, Dawn, Zoey and Anne Maria angrily asked together.

"I play with strategy," Scott said. "And plus, Anne Maria, you quit the show, remember?"

"Oh," Anne Maria said. "I did."

Zoey and Scott believe they're willing to trust each other instead of trusting Mike.

Zoey: I know. He's so secretive, and now Cameron's acting all weird too.

Scott: Guess I'm the only person you can trust.

"You think we're weird?" Cameron asked.

"Well," Zoey said. "Mike's other characters are becoming creepier with each passing episode. Still can't believe you hide that from me."

"Me too," Gwen said. "You could've just told Zoey it was a personality disorder."

Later on, the Rats finally make it to the swamp. Jo sees the arrow Scott made and follows it through the water.

"I thought it was a shortcut," Jo said.

"If you and Lightning lose," Scott started. "It'll be what you get for voting Brick out."

"I agree," Dawn said.

Majority nodded along.

"You're taking Scott's side on this?" Jo asked.

"We'd be dead meat in that mine if it wasn't for Brick's sacrifice," Anne Maria said.

"No kidding," Cameron said.

While trudging through the swamp, Cameron and Mike think Zoey should forget trusting Scott.

Zoey: I happen to know he has a heart okay? Don't be so quick to-

Zoey is cut off after walking onto the back of a giant mutant alligator, forcing them to hide in the closest tree possible.

Mike: *Confessional* I don't know what's worse — the giant mutants or the fact that Zoey trusts Scott more than me.

"I think Gwen and Sam are a bigger concern than Scott right now," Dakota said.

"I think the giant mutants are worse," Jo said.

"They're stupid sons of bitches," Gwen said. "When they're in mutant form. When not, they're kind of cute."

"Now I see why our friend, Sky, has so many stuffed versions of them," Courtney commented, making Jo and Scott laugh.

"What is she, 5 years old?" Jo asked.

Mike briefly turns into Svetlana to seek safety, but quickly changes back to rescue Zoey.

Cameron: *Confessional* Of course! Whenever Zoey's in danger, Mike returns! Not that I would put her in peril just to make that happen. Except maybe as a last resort. Heh heh heh.

"Sure," Jo said. "Only do it as a last resort."

"Other than that, no way I'm doing it," Cameron said.

"Thanks," Zoey said to Cameron.

"And thanks for saving me," Zoey said to Mike.

"Anything for my girl," Mike said before Kissing Zoey.

Enter Dakota, who gives the alligator a fight to remember.

Mike: Come on! Gwen and Sam don't have much air left.

Zoey: What about Dakota? Shouldn't we help her?

It cuts to Dakota, beating the alligator.

"She got this," Scott said.

"If there's one perk to being a mutant freak," Dakota started commenting. "It's awesome strength."

"For once," Courtney said. "I'm enjoying this."

"If only that alligator was Chris McLean," Dakota said.

Everyone busted out laughing with almost half the party falling on their backs. For a moment, it looked like the map and compass were gone.

Scott: *Confessional* Gotcha! Now to find out the deal with Mike and Bubble Boy. Zoey's right. Those two are hiding something.

"Thanks for keeping our compass safe, Scott," Cameron said.

"No problem," Scott commented. "Did you really think I would get rid of treasure hunting items on purpose?"

"I did," Zoey said.

"You didn't really have to get rid of them," Gwen said. "They could be recycled into bags or something."

Lightning and Jo spot Dakota still with the alligator, but then 2 more show up.

"Okay," Jo said. "Back then, I was scared of the mutant animals. Now, I'm just getting bored of them."

With no map or compass, Cameron seeks an alternative to get through the swamp, which ends up being a forest leading north.

"A thorn forest?" Scott asked. "Crazy!"

Beth then added, "Yeah! What if the thorns become why Mike takes his shirt off again?"

"I agree with Beth on this one," Lindsay commented. "Remember what happens to Mike when he does that?"

"He turns into Vito again," Cameron said. "But this brain fueled bubble was one step ahead."

"Let's hope you were," Justin said.

Dakota clears a path while fighting the alligator.

"You rock, Dakota!" Zoey said.

"Maggots rule!" Anne Maria cheered.

"Thanks," Dakota said.

"You know," Mike said. "We may not have liked you as a mutant freak that day, but you've been a big help."

Dakota blushed. The thorns try to remove Mike's shirt, causing him to change into Vito.

Vito: Anne Maria? Where are you baby?

"I was off the show," Anne Maria answered.

Cameron comes back to pull Mike's shirt back down, seconds before Zoey finds out.

"Told you I was one step ahead," Cameron said.

"Thanks," Mike said.

Cameron: Uh-oh. Mike, I know you want to practice your impressions, but now is not the time.

"He's right," Jo said. "Gwen and Sam are still trapped with not much air left."

"You'll never make it if you let your alternate personalities keep throwing you off again," Dawn said.

"Right," Mike said. "Thanks Cam."

"No problem, buddy," Cameron said.

Cameron: It's too much Mike. I can't keep this up. You have to tell Zoey the truth.

"You knew how scared I was," Mike said.

"It's okay," Zoey said. "I've understood since All Stars."

While Zoey and Scott start digging, Jo and Lightning show up, but the latter of the two is almost badly beaten.

"Woah!" Dakota said. "No one told me there were other alligators."

"And look how beat up he is," Beth said.

"This is going too far," Gwen said.

"I don't know what's worse," Brick said. "The toxic waste or the mutant animals."

Lightning crashes right beside a rock that Jo moves.

Jo: Two keys? The small one must be for the cuffs.

"Was it?" Mike asked.

"It was," Jo said. "That's how I got free, meaning the big one has to be for the chest Chris was talking about."

Gwen: *Muffling* Somebody let me out of here!

"It's Gwen!" Jo said. "Let the digging begin!"

Everyone, minus Dakota and Lightning, dug for Gwen and Sam, with some wondering if she was buried too deep.

"Were you?" Trent asked.

"A little," Gwen said. Jo reached her first.

Chris: And the rats win! For a change.

"Yes!" Jo said. "Best treasure hunt ever."

"Nice," Brick said. "But Gwen and Sam still needed to be moved up to the surface."

"Crap!" Jo said. "Forgot about that."

Dakota then reaches for Sam in the chest, after tossing Gwen aside, and Sam wakes up to her cuddling him.

"Yes!" Beth cheered. "They're free!"

Trent clapped it up for Jo and Dakota.

"You girls rocked it out there," Trent said.

"Hey," Jo commented. "Dakota deserves a share of the credit."

"I agree," Scott said. "She really has been a big help."

Sam: *Confessional* Whoa, the girl of my dreams just got a thousand times more awesome!

"Heck yeah, I'm awesome!" Dakota said. "Sorry about tossing you like that, Gwen."

"It's okay," Gwen said. "As long as I'm not buried alive anymore."

"Glad to know you guys are okay," Trent said.

Later that night, while Dakota spends more time with Sam, Mike tells Zoey that the maggots need to get rid of Cameron, which Zoey is unsure about.

"I still think Scott has a heart in there," Zoey said. "He held our compass safe and got mutant Dakota away from me."

"Exactly," Scott said. "Something about Dakota was becoming unhealthy for Zoey."

"Unhealthy?" Dawn asked.

Scott: Mike says he's really grateful. You're helping him with his problem.

"And thank god I don't have that problem anymore," Mike said.

"Your alternate personalities did give us a headache," Jo said.

Cameron: Problem? He told you about his multiple personality disorder.

Scott: Nope, but you just did.

"Thanks a lot, Cam," Mike said.

"See Zoey," Mike said. "We told you Scott was hard to trust."

"Hey!" Zoey said. "We could've helped Mike find easier coping strategies."

At the elimination ceremony, Sam admits he loves Dakota and nicknames her Dakotazoid.

"I love that nickname," Dakota said.

"I knew you would," Sam commented.

They make out, disgusting the other campers.

"Seriously?" Jo asked.

"Thanks for grossing us out," Beth said.

"No kidding!" Trent said.

Chris: Okay players. The votes are tallied and by a narrow margin, tonight's loser is none other than-

Cameron: Wait! What about the marshmallows for the people that are staying?

Chris states that Dakota ate them while in the infirmary.

"Sorry about that," Dakota said. "That treasure hunt had me working up an appetite."

"We can see why," Jo commented.

At first, it was believed that Scott was leaving.

Scott: Sorry. *Reveals the invincibility statue* But I'm not going anywhere.

"I was told to keep it a secret," Zoey said.

"Thanks for trusting me, Zoey," Scott said.

"Told you Scott was a good ally," Zoey said.

"I agree," Courtney said. "He proved it in All Stars."

The one with the next highest vote left instead.

Chris: Thanks to Zoey, the Dakotazoid is going home for good this time.

Zoey: Her friendship was hazardous to my health. I had to vote her off.

"Sorry, Dakota," Zoey said.

"I know," Dakota said. "It's tough coping with being a mutant freak."

"Did you get any illnesses from that?" Mike asked Sam.

"Nope," Sam said. "I'm just glad I got the girl of my dreams."

He and Dakota kissed again.

"At least it isn't as disgusting now as it was back then," Mike said.

"I agree," Cameron commented. "That toxic waste has really done a number to us."

Chris launches both of them away and signs the episode off.

"So," Scott said. "Glad to not be a mutant freak anymore?"

"Beyond glad," Dakota said.

"That's glorious," Scott said.

The two hugged it out, but it was a little tight.

"Dakota," Scott called. "Too tight!"

"Sorry," Dakota said while letting go of Scott. "Guess my strength is permanently stuck with me."

"So," Gwen started. "How long were you a mutant freak?"

"3 years," Dakota answered. "But I made my time worthwhile."

"Oh yeah," Anne Maria said. "There's a bonus clip about it. Let me pull it up."

The bonus clip begins in a locker room (which resembles the Aftermath show's green room).

Sam: So you went inside the mine for 40 minutes and that's all it took to change? Score! Super strength, so cool. You're gonna kick so much, but it'll be like playing a video game in real life.

"Nice comparison," Cody said.

"Well," Zoey started. "Sports are like video games in real life. Lots of competition, but lots of excitement too."

"Nothing but glorious," Gwen said.

"They sure are," Sam said.

Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen, introducing The Dakotazoid!

"You did wrestling matches?" Beth asked.

"For a few years," Dakota answered. "I retired after returning back to normal. Still kept my strength, though."

"Cool!" Justin said. "What was that fashion school we went to?"

"It was on the campus of Fordham University," Brick answered.

"I remember," Lindsay said. "Jen is one sweet girl."

"Me and her have a room together," Dakota commented.

Everyone else found it cool.

Sam: There's your cue. Break a leg out there! *After Dakota runs out, leaving a hole in the doorway* Seriously, best girlfriend ever!

"We can see why," Cameron said.

"No doubt about it," Anne Maria said. "I have chips and soda out for you guys."

"Okay," Gwen said. "And we agreed to check out more of that fan's artwork."

Everyone else was on board. The 2nd snack break is next, so stay tuned for that.
