Izuku was mostly asleep as the sun rose the next morning. He wasn't sure what he had been dreaming about, but he knew it was pleasant enough to make him want to stay in bed. His mind was completely blank to the events that had unfolded the previous night.
"Izuku Midoriya" a strange a voice said to him. Was he dreaming it? No, he didn't think so.
"Mhm, five more minutes" Izuku groaned, rolling over onto his side. He heard what sounded like little feet pattering around his head, followed by a brief silence and the clearing of a throat.
"I'm not your mother. Wake up!" Izuku groggily opened his eyes to the sight of a tiny figure standing before him. It looked like a grey frog with bulbous green eyes staring back at him. The figure wore a green tunic with a silver ring around its waist. Something clicked in Izuku's head. This was Azmuth, creator of the Omnitrix.
AZMUTH!
"Azmu-whoa!" Izuku crashed onto the floor below. He jumped too fast and tumbled right out of bed. There was a yelp of surprise from Kirishima, who was asleep on the floor. The black-haired teen shot right up to see what had happened.
"Izuku, are you ok?" Izuku blinked at him from his position. Oh right, he forgot that, since they survived their first villain attack as a group, they had all agreed to call each other by their first names from now on. That's right, it wasn't just a dream. From Albedo to Kevin, Gwen and Tetrax, to actually meeting the author of the book, Azmuth himself. Last night really happened. After the experience they had that night, Izuku had let the group sleep over at his house for the night. There, he confessed to what Bakugo and All Might had told him. To say they were shocked was an understatement. His mother had teared up as he recollected what had happened. Now she understood why he got rid of his All Might collection. Snapping back to reality, Izuku rightened himself into a sitting position and wiped the sleep from his eyes.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Eijiro. I was just scared awake by a certain someone" said certain someone sighed and jumped onto the green-haired boy's head.
"It took you long enough" The scholar replied. That was another thing Izuku noticed about Azmuth. The "first thinker", a genius in five galaxies, was a grumpy, old man. If he was human, he'd probably be yelling at kids to get off his lawn.
"Sorry, we had quite a night last night" Izuku fake surrendered.
"Yeah, you can say that again. Our first encounter with a villain. It's a good thing he left without the other Omnitrix" Eijiro replied, looking elsewhere in the room.
"Oh yeah, where is the other Omnitrix?" Izuku asked, looking up at the Galvan sitting on his head.
" It was transported back to our dimension's Galvan prime, where it will be contained and destroyed. I wouldn't celebrate just yet. Albedo will most likely find a way to build a new one soon enough" that got the two teenage boys thinking. They needed a plan for the next time Izuku's crazy look-a-like showed up. A slight knock on the door snapped both boys back to reality. It was Izuku's mother.
"Oh, both of you are up! I thought I heard a loud noise. Did you fall out of bed?".
"Jumped might be a better word for it" Eijiro teased. Izuku blushed in embarrassment. His mother just smiled.
"It's alright, as long as you're not hurt. Oh, Azmuth-san, I didn't see you there. How are you?"
"You can just call me Azmuth. I'm doing quite well for this morning"
"All right, if you insist. It's good to see that you boys are finally up. Kyoka-chan and Ochako-chan have been waiting for you two" As if on cue, Ochako stepped up from behind Izuku's mother. She had a smirk on her face.
"Cmon sleepyheads, Inko-san is making pancakes. You better hurry up before me and Kyoka eat them all!" She ran back down the hall. They could hear Kyoka yell something about it being impossible for the two of them to eat all the pancakes. The two boys looked at each other with smiles on their faces. At least someone was taking the events from last night well.
"Well, we better go get some pancakes" Eijiro was the first to stand up and stretch. He then offered a hand to Izuku, who happily accepted, and pulled him up. Azmuth stayed on Izuku's head the entire time. They made their way out of the room and into the kitchen where Izuku's mom was cooking. At the dinner table sat Kyoka and Ochako, still in the outfits they wore yesterday, with slightly messy hair, probably from sleeping.
"Good morning, finally among the living?" Kyoka smirked as she cut up one of the pancakes. She stopped what she was doing when she noticed the smaller presence on Izuku's head as it landed on the table.
"Oh, so last night wasn't a dream?"
"That's correct" Azmuth replied, expression never changing. The room was quiet for a while as everyone recollected the events of the night before.
"Yeah, and I got the bruises to prove it" Eijiro was the one to lift the silence as he lifted his shirt a bit, exposing the area where he had been kicked. It was majorly black and blue.
"Still don't know how I'm going to explain to my parents how it happened"
"Yeah, my parents too" Ochako looked concerned as she took a bite of her breakfast.
"I doubt my parents will like that I got into an encounter with a villain last night" Kyoka took a sip of orange juice. The room became quiet again. There were still many unanswered questions that Izuku could think of, but for now he would only ask one.
"Who was he?" He turned his attention to Azmuth, who looked to be in thought before realizing that all attention was on him.
"Albedo was once my assistant. He was the brightest Galvin I knew, besides myself, but we often thought differently about some things. He thought that there should be two omnitrix. I disagreed. As a result, he went behind my back and stole one of my omnitrix cores. However, this caused him to become an exact copy of the previous holder of the omnitrix, Ben Tennyson"
The group listened to Azmuth's story with interest, especially Izuku. At this point, hearing anything about the previous user of the omnitrix made him perk right up.
"He tried to get the original omnitrix back from Tennyson, much like he did with you, but failed. His DNA became damaged when the two omnitrix's proximity fields collided, causing them to stick together"
"Kind of like what happened last night, except, instead of sticking together, there was an energy explosion" Eijiro interjected.
"Yes, I believe the orignal registered what happened last time and reacted differently when it sensed the other proximity field. The end result was still the same, Albedo's DNA was damaged"
"So, what happened after they were split apart the first time?" Surprisingly, it was Izuku's mother who asked the question.
" I tracked where the event happened and teleported myself there. I removed the omnitrix core from Albedo's omnitrix and sent him to an intergalactic prison as punishment. He escaped and built his own core. He created his own device, the Ultamatrix. From there, he and Tennyson would fight each other many times over the years. He eventually managed to restore his DNA. I suspect that, now that the omnitrix has changed users from Ben to Izuku, the default DNA sequence has become Izuku's. That's why he looks like him now"
"That makes sense..." Izuku pondered the words.
"Yeah, except now his DNA is damaged again" Eijiro added on to his friend's mumbling.
"At least he doesn't look exactly like you anymore. Wouldn't want to get arrested for something he did" Kyoka elbowed Izuku's side. The green haired boy gave a nervous laugh. He really didn't want to think about that. Apparently, his mother didn't either.
"So, with all that out of the way, have you all been getting ready for the UA entrance exam? It's only a couple of months away" She changed the subject.
"You bet! I've been training hard. Just look at these muscles" Eijiro flexed his arms to prove a point.
"You got to study hard too; you know" Ochako giggled.
"Yeah, I know, I know. I've been studying" Replied the black-haired teen.
"Both are important. We are trying to get into the best hero school in Japan" Kyoka added in, taking another bite of pancake. It was true, both brains and brawn were necessary if they wanted to get accepted into UA. Izuku had been training and studying almost every day between junior high and working at Varns. It was hard work, but he could feel the benefits. His muscles were getting stronger and stronger. He was mastering each of his forms as fast as he could and coming up with strategies and situations that would be best for each.
"Oh! I totally forgot to mention. Did you hear the recent news about All Might?" Ochako piped up. The name struck a small nerve in the group, especially Izuku. He felt his stomach turn lightly.
" What about him?" Eijiro asked, eyebrows cocked.
"Well, there was a news broadcast that said that he was going to be teaching at UA starting this year" The room was silent. Izuku's stomach dropped. All Might? At UA?!
"You're kidding?" Kyoka replied.
"Unfortunately, not"
The group sighed. Well, this was great. The one person they didn't want to encounter was now teaching at the school they were trying to get into. What were the odds? Actually, pretty good if you thought about it.
"Welp, I guess we'll have to deal with that once we get there"
"Would someone care to explain to me?" Attentions were once again turned to Azmuth.
"Oh, right. So, All Might is the number one hero in all of Japan at the moment. He's known as the "Symbol of peace". Because of him, the number of villains decreased by a large amount and has stayed low for a long time. He's also an alumnus of UA, which is why most people our age dream of going there " Izuku quickly explained.
"So, why are you upset by the news of him teaching there?"
"Well...I'm quirkless. Before I found the omnitrix, I had no power of my own. I had an encounter with All Might on a building where I asked him if I could still become a hero. He told me no and said that I'd be better off just joining the police force" His friends looked on with sympathy as Izuku retold the events of that day.
"So, that's why" The Galvin scholar thankfully didn't ask any more questions about the subject. Izuku nodded.
It was a few more hours of talking before they finished their pancakes. His friends thanked his mother for the food before packing up and leaving.
"I'm glad" His mother said when they left. Izuku looked at her confused.
"Why?"
"I'm glad that my boy found good friends that will always have his back no matter what" She smiled at him.
"Oh, yeah" He smiled back.
"Companions are a good thing to have" Azmuth joined in. Both mother and son nodded.
