The Sisters' Family Vacation:
Hunter Investigates: part 3

Hunter wasn't having a good morning; he had gotten a call from his "cousin" Amity and was informed that the Owl Familia was under attack. She had told him that someone messed with their rejuvenation potions and all the Familia's mothers had become children.

Since his dad was out, he had volunteered to aid his family in finding out who was attacking them. Amity had suggested using a tracking potion and Hunter agreed.

Since he was still figuring out how to use his magic, and the others were busy babysitting their mothers, that left only one other person to help him with the potion.

And right now, he wished it has been anyone other than Boscha. He didn't question the girl's skill, he had seen her work enough time to know better. However, it seems she wasn't focused this morning. That had, unfortunately, made progress slow.

With a sigh, Hunter looked inside the fridge and frowned. There was a potion missing and he could guess that one Aunt Camila took last night.

"So, how did Aunt Lilith and Aunt Eda get a potion into them?" he asked himself, unknowingly looking at his shoulder.

He sighed sadly when he saw his shoulder was bare. To keep himself from thinking about Flapjack, he turned his attention back to his classmate.

Boscha had found her footing and was middle of finishing her second tracking potion. She added the last needed ingredient and get the vial a quick shake. She let the potion sit for about a minute and a half and set it near the fridge.

The three-eyed witch next made two spell circles. She sent both into the vial, and within seconds, the liquid was bubbling. Soon, the liquid turned into a mist and rose from the vial. Bosha took command of the mist and set it into the fridge.

The appliance was bathed in a yellow glow and the two watched closely. Soon, a purple dot appeared and began to move around the fridge. Hunter frowned as he watched the dot move across a couple of potions and the spot where the Clawthorne kept their late-night drinks.

The two watched the dot finish off whatever task it was doing and then moved behind the appliance. Feeling like they had seen enough, Boscha ended the spell and turned her attention to Hunter.

The young grimwalker was thinking. Things were starting to become clear, but something still wasn't clicking. If his theory was correct and someone used the Familia's potion stock for their assault, then why was only the potion Camila used missing?

He looked at the potion where the dot was before it left the fridge and gingerly grabbed the vial. He examined it for a second and popped off the cork. He carefully dabbed a small bit of the potion onto a finger and tasted it.

"This isn't a rejuvenation potion!" He proclaimed with wide eyes.

Curiously, Boscha dipped a finger into the vial. She tasted it and scowled when she realized what the potion truly was.

"You're right. This is just a curse-be-gone elixir!" She added quietly.

Hunter nodded and corked the vial. He returned it to the fridge for the time being and, recalling the path the purple dot took, take a step back. He held out his hand and closed his eyes as he concentrated. His hand glowed yellow and a wave of magic jumped from it.

The grimwalker's magic traveled over the fridge into the back. Hunter made a face when his magic touched items that didn't belong. He grabbed the items and brought them from behind the fridge.

He grabbed the items as he opened his eyes. He looked at the empty potion vial and a mess of parts. He gave his full attention to the parts. He couldn't help but feel like he has seen something like this before.

It clicked when Hunter saw the purple stains and remembered where he had seen something like this before.

"These are parts from an abomaton," Hunter told Bocsha.

Boscha looked at the parts and sighed. A strange look entered the three-eyed demon's glaze as she studied the parts.

She looked up at the grimwalker and asked, "What do we do next? And before you say anything, I'm coming. I didn't take this seriously before, but I'm not going to sit around and let someone I now like get hurt."

Hunter was surprised by this turnaround. Since getting to know her a little more, Hunter learned there was more to Boscha than she let others see.

Too bad, you have to get past three walls of pure ego to see that part of her.

"Okay," Hunter replied softly and turned professional. "We're going to Blight Instrudies. Alador Blight might shed more light on these pieces. If not, maybe he could get us a buyer list and do some cross-checking."

Boscha nodded and followed Hunter as he made his way out the backdoor.

As the two made their way to the front of the house, Boscha made herself a promise; she would help find whoever did this to her aunt. When they met, she would show no mercy to the poor soul who dares to mess with anyone she cares about.

And with this, we have the return of a semi-favorite side content staring everyone's favorite bad-but-not-so-sad boy. I will also be doing things a bit differently with this story's side content; I will be breaking it up into two parts. You can guess one will focus on Hunter learning who attacked the Familia this time. The second…well, you will have to wait and see.
