Author's notes section:
[2023-03-21]: Hey, here is a preview of the story's next chapter. Please, bear in mind that it is, as mentioned, a preview. Some parts of it might not be included in the final release. I will try to finish this chapter as soon as possible. I would like to clean up some of the tasks in my schedule, and right now, there are many chapters queued there.
Info: Ok, let me start with what I promised in the last chapter of `My home is where my heart lies`. So, I often find myself not motivated enough to progress through the story, to write something refreshing and good. And thus, I feel like I will be splitting the story into 3 parts, aka the initial story will be split into 3 separate works. It will allow me to finish one part, re-read it, and think about changes that are necessary to take place. Furthermore, I feel like I have made a lot of mistakes throughout these nearly 3 years of writing this story. And... a lot of these come from a simple concept; I have started too many stories, and I have not been able to conclude virtually any of these. Moreover, my writing style and English proficiency drastically changed/evolved throughout this time. As you might know, I'm a perfectionist; I would love each and every one of my chapters to hold the same standard, to be simply the best. And... yet, with my knowledge of language broadening, it would require me to completely rewrite the story to maintain more or less the same level. And, as you might expect, it would take me ages to do so. So, as I have said, I will try to conclude the first part of this series as soon as possible. Nevertheless, I expect that I will need at least 3 - 5 chapters to do so.
Don't forget to comment. I really appreciate your feedback.
Note that the dialogues written in italic are thoughts.
As always, I would like to thank you for everything. See you soon :)
Changelog:
[2023-03-21]: A preview has been released.
Schedule:
- The silence of the shackles (finish the WIP)
- The Prisoner of Your Eyes (finish the WIP)
- My home is where my heart lies (finish the WIP)
- The story of one lost soul (finish the WIP)
Info: As promised, here is the preview for the next chapter. I will try to finish it asap, but as nearly always, I can promise you when the piece will be finished. Anyway, Enjoy :)
Info: Overall, the current plan is for me to write 'My home is where my heart lies' and 'Family tree' alternatively. Between the updates of these stories, I will try to upload other texts. Maybe, just maybe, I will be able to finish some of the short stories. However, I truly doubt that. It seems that most if not all of the stories will be extended both in terms of the time and the number of chapters.
Info: I will try to rewrite some of the older chapters between releasing new ones. I expect to start working on that goal in the middle of January. So, please be informed that the new chapters might take a bit longer to be finished and published.

End of the author's notes section.
Akali was unsure how long she had been staring into the depthless abyss she needed to delve into. Even though the demoness's sight was unnaturally sharp, she could not see the bottom layer of that pit hole. But, she was certain that somewhere there, the Damned lurked, cast away for their sins for eternity. Yet the tables had turned, for the Devil himself wanted these scums to bolster the first wave of Hell's invasion.
The order was clear, yet there was confusion and conflict within the demoness. Akali did not want to follow it, but the unfortunate truth was that she was a good soldier. Even though she served in Hell, she valued honour above everything. And what Lucifer expected from her contradicted the demoness' beliefs.
"It is said that the descent into the abyss feels as if it lasted two days," a raspy male voice sounded a few steps behind the white-haired woman.
"Spare me this nonsense, Hugues," the commander replied without turning. "It is a hole that was supposed to remain inescapable, but you know the orders," she added, bitterness clearly heard in her voice. "Have you gathered the men?" she asked after a brief pause.
"As you ordered, commander," Hugues responded momentarily. "We are only waiting for your call," he pointed out.
"Then, let's not waste more time," the white-haired woman commented. "I am jumping first. You can follow me after a minute or so," she stated before descending into the shadows.
Even though Akali did not manage to quell the conflict raging throughout her mind, she faced the overwhelming darkness without an ounce of hesitation. The time for confusion ended the moment she jumped in. Now, all the demoness must focus on was the mission. And, considering where it would lead her, it would require a lot of patience and strength from her.
It was a strange feeling to fall down into seeming nothingness. All the light unexpectedly vanished at some point, leaving the demoness in complete darkness. But, it was not the strangest thing that the commander had experienced. One by one, all of the woman's senses disappeared, making her doubt her own existence.
The freefall lasted more than 10 minutes, or at the very least, that much the demoness had managed to estimate. But, it mattered little to none. When the descent finally concluded, the woman's senses returned, allowing her to look around and assess her current surroundings. She would have lied if she had said that the abyss was similar to the areas of Hell she knew. In all honesty, the apparent nothingness here was overwhelming and depressing.
Even though the first glance did not reveal anyone nearby, Akali heard the various cacophonic sounds coming her way only mere moments later. So it seemed that her arrival did not go unnoticed. But, whether to be thankful or not for that remained to be seen. Still, before the apparent swarm could reach her, her legionnaires landed beside the legion commander. That small detachment of seasoned warriors was more than ready to face whatever the abyss had in store for them.
"Do indulge me, commander. Have we not been in such a situation before?" Hugues asked, smirking openly as he readied his trusted sword.
"I believe that we have been through something like that more than once," Akali commented, not even remotely afraid of what was coming their way. "The men are ready, I presume, old Templar?"
