Chapter 4

James and Jessie ran after Ash, his friends and their Pokémon. They gasped when they saw some of the Pokémon, including Grookey, Pikachu and Quaxly fall down a steep, little cliff. Jessie looked at James.

"You go after their Pokémon!" She ordered. "I'll go after the twerps." James looked at her.

"You sure?" He asked. Jessie nodded.

"Yeah, I'll be fine on my own, now go!" James smiled too.

"Alright. just be careful, alright?" Jessie smiled.

"Don't worry, I will." And with that, they seperated. Jessie resumed running after Ash and friends and James ran after the Pokémon.

Ash and his friends ran and ran. They all saw running Legendaries left and right. They were all Legendaries from the Sinnoh to the Kalos regions. Clemont noticed something and stopped.

"Wait a minute." He looked around. "Where's Bonnie?" May stopped too and looked around as well. She began to panic.

"Max is gone too!" She cried. Ash and the others stopped too.

"Is anyone else gone?" He wondered out loud, looking around too. "Goh? Where are you? Goh!"

"Maybe Goh is with Bonnie and Max." Misty stated. "Let's hope so because we may not have time to stop and try to find them. Danger might be up ahead."

"You may be right." Ash said. "You ok with that, May and Clemont?"

"Well I'd hate it if Bonnie was all alone." Clemont said. "But maybe you're right. She's smart. I'm sure she'll be ok, still it is worrisome."

"Max is smart too." May said as well. "But like Bonnie, he is a kid. We all are. Max is my younger sibling, so I get what he means when he says it is worrisome."

"Well, if Goh's with them," Ash began. "He'll make sure they're safe."

"Ash's right." Brock agreed. "Even though they are not on the best of terms right now and I don't really know Goh that well, I'm sure they'll be safe with him. Ash is my friend and I trust him that he'll protect them at all costs no matter what."

"I trust Goh too." Clemont said with a nod. "I sure hope that he is with them."

"We still have to find them." May said.

"We will." Ash assured her. "We'll find them all." They then heard heavy panting. They all looked behind them and couldn't believe it. It was Jessie. They all looked mad.

"Alright, Jessie!" Ash began. "What are you doing here?" Jessie looked up at him when she got her breath back, She chuckled to herself.

"What do you think, twerp?" She spoke. "To follow you and all of your friends and then steal all of the Legendaries so that we can give them to the boss."

"Oh, yeah? That's not going to happen. My friends and our Pokémon aren't going to allow it and stop you." Misty then noticed that Pikachu wasn't with Ash.

"Uh, Ash," She began. "I hate to say it, but where's Pikachu?" Ash was puzzled.

"Pikachu?" He questioned. He began to panic. "Pikachu's gone?" Dawn saw that Piplup was gone too. She screamed.

"Piplup's gone too!" She cried. Lillie looked around too.

"Snowy's not here either!" She cried as well.

"This is crazy!" Ash observed. "I wonder where they all went. Is all of the other Pokémon here?" They all looked at the remaining Pokémon.

"It looks like it." Brock stated. "But I think it'll be best if we return all of the Pokémon to their Pokeballs." Ash and the others nodded in agreement.

"That's a good idea." Ash said.

"You spoke my mind." Cilan put in with a smile. Everyone returned their Pokémon to their Pokeballs. Drat! Jessie thought. I was going to steal them. Oh well, I just have to steal them later. They'll be easier to steal when they're in their Pokeballs.

"Pikachu and the others fell off a mini cliff." Jessie told Ash and the others. They looked at her.

"You're lying!" Ash told her.

"I wish I wasn't but I'm not. James went to go get them. He should be here soon."

"For once, I hope you're right."

"I hope I am too." Ash balled up his fist.

"First, we have to worry about that explosion, then, we have to worry about our friends and now our Pokémon? Man, it just isn't our day."

"We'll find them." Cilan assured him. "We've been in much worse pickles before. Just don't you worry." Ash smiled.

"I know. It's just worrisome, you know?"

"We know exactly how you feel." Clemont said with a frown. May frowned too.

"Welcome to our boat." She added.

"Guys!" They all heard Tracy cry. They looked around. Tracy was nowhere to be seen. Misty sighed.

"Oh, great!" She observed. "Now Tracy's gone."

"Guys, over here!" They all heard Tracy again. They all went for the source of the sound. They all found Tracy. He was sketching a Fuecoco in his sketchbook.

"What's that?" Ash asked out loud. But Tracy was too busy doodling to answer. Ash took out his Rotom Dex.

"No data found." Ash was confused.

"No data? What does that mean?"

"It means that it doesn't have the information in its database yet." Iris told him. "Duh!"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Maybe it's a new Pokémon that hasn't been discovered yet!" Sophocles piped up.

"New Pokémon? Whoa, you think?"

"Maybe." Ash then smiled. Jessie beamed too.

"Ooh, I just love it!" She marveled out loud. "One more Pokémon to steal for the boss! And since it's new, it'll be extra valuable!"

"Awesome! Goh is really missing out then!" Ash narrowed his eyes at Jessie. "And in your dreams, Jessie! You're not getting this one either! My friends and I will make sure of that." Jessie glared at him.

"Bonnie saw new Pokémon before me." Clemont stated. "And now I'm seeing new Pokémon before her. That's neat! She will be so jealous!"

"Unless she's also seeing a new Pokémon." Iris said. Clemont sighed.

"You're right. It's highly unlikely, but it is a possibility. Still this is so neat!" Iris smiled.

"You're right. It is neat."

"Tracy?" Misty said. "Uh, I know I can't rush art, but we have to go." Tracy showed his friends his drawing. Everyone was impressed.

"Wow, Tracy!" Serena marveled. "That drawing's really good! You're one talented artist."

"Thanks!" Tracy thanked her. "I like drawing every Pokémon that I see. And since this is a new Pokémon that hasn't been discovered yet, that's even more special to me.

"I bet."

"So it's you." Said a familiar voice. Everyone looked and saw that it was Tobias. Ash was happy about this and approached him.

"Tobias!" He cried. "It's you! Man, it's been a while."

"It has been a while." Tobias agreed. "Hasn't it?"

"Tobias?" Clemont asked.

"Tobias is a super strong trainer from the Sinnoh League who defeated Ash." Dawn explained to him. "He wiped the majority of Ash's Pokémon with his Darkrai. Ash managed to defeat it, but lost to Tobias's next Pokémon, Latios. Not only that, I think Latios and Pikachu both went down together, but Tobias still won in the end." Clemont looked shocked.

"Tobias has a Darkrai and a Latios? That's amazing!"

Wow! Jessie thought to herself, jealous. Twerps get all of the luck! Why do they get to be lucky when we don't? She shook it off and grinned mischievously. Never mind that because soon they will all belong to us! She stopped her wicked grin. She didn't want to raise suspicion.

"Unfortunately they were both taken from me by these bad guys." Tobias explained. Everyone gasped.

"That's awful!" Lana said.

"Who would do such a thing?" Lillie questioned.

"Was it Team Rocket?" Ash wanted to know. "A red headed female, a blue headed male and a talking Meowth? Because those guys are the worst! They're always up to no good by stealing people's Pokémon."

"Hey!" Jessie shouted. "I'm right here you know."

"Sorry." Ash apologized. "I kind of forgot." But Jessie didn't buy it.

"No." Tobias answered. "It was a gang known as Team Nightmare." Ash was confused.

"Team Nightmare? I haven't heard of them."

"Neither have I." Cilan said. "Hmmm, I wonder what region they are from."

"I do too." Iris put in.

"That's a new one for me too." Jessie admitted.

"All you need to know is that they're dangerous and strong." Tobias told them all. "You should leave it to the authorities before you all get hurt."

"No way!" Ash argued. "That's not how I roll. We want to help get them back for you!" Tobias smiled.

"My, you are determined, aren't you?"

"You bet I am!"

"He might act like a little kid." Iris began. "But when it comes to helping people and Pokémon, he doesn't take no for an answer. He wants to help them no matter what, even though he really should let the police handle it."

"It's been like that when I was with him." Misty put in. "And it seems like that's still the case."

"Sometimes things never change." Brock added.

"That's Ash for you." Serena agreed. "Even when we were both at Pokémon camp when we were both such young kids."

"Do you think that that explosion we saw with all of the Legendaries and your stolen Pokémon are connected somehow, Tobias?" Lillie wanted to know.

"It's a possibility." Clemont said.

"I agree." Cilan agreed. "They are Legendaries and Legendaries are valuable due to them being super strong, so it makes sense."

"Do you have another Pokémon, Tobias? Or did Team Nightmare steal them all?" Tobias looked at Ash.

"Of course I have other Pokémon." He told him. "I don't have just Legendaries." Ash smiled.

"Well, that's good. Still, we will get your other ones back for you. I promise." Tobias smiled.

"Me too. The fact that you even defeated my Darkrai in the first place proves that you are a really strong trainer."

"The fact that you have Legendaries proves that you are a really strong trainer. My friend, Goh, just captured his Suicune without even battling it, but you, I bet you battled them long and hard."

"I did. Which is why we have to get them back. I earned them with all of that hard work. And to have Team Nightmare just take them like that? It's unacceptable and I won't allow it."

"Like Ash said," Brock spoke up. "We'll get them back. Don't you worry about that."

"It is unacceptable." Cilan agreed. "And also unfair. Team Nightmare has no taste or respect whatsoever."

"But how are we to find them?" Serena wanted to know. Clemont gave out a knowing laugh.

"Never fear, Serena." Clemont told her. "We'll find them, because science is on our side! I just knew that we'll come across a situation exactly like this one."

"Did he really?" Dawn wanted to know.

"Why am I not surprised?" An annoyed Serena asked herself. Clemont took out stuff from his backpack.

"Something tells me that he didn't really know about the situation at all." Iris said. "And is just showing off his toys. What a kid."

Once done with his machine, a GPS like gadget, Clemont pressed some buttons. "Clemantic gear on! Once you type whatever you are looking for in this machine, it'll find whatever you want. For example, I typed in Team Nightmare-an evil organization that steals Legendary and Mysical Pokémon. I call it, The Whatever it is Tracker, and any second now, it should tell us exactly where Team Nightmare is"

"Bonnie would call that a very stupid name." Serena put in. "And I have to agree."

"Science is so amazing!" Ash marveled.

"It is." Cilan stated. "Very much so. Don't you forget it."

"I won't." Iris sighed.

"Oh, boy!" She observed. "A little kid and two science nerds. Just what we need."

"I also find this fascinating." Sophocles put in. "I can't wait to see Clemont's cool invention. It'll be so cool!"

"Scratch that. Three nerds!"

"I don't mean to be mean or anything" Tobias began. "…but do your really think that your little machine will…" Suddenly Clemont's Tracker made a beeping noise. The inventor smiled.

"Aha!" He cried out in delight. "It found them!" His friends all smiled too.

"Then what are we waiting for?" Ash questioned. "Let's find these bad people and bring them to justice!" They all agreed and ran after Clemont. Ash looked back at Tobias. "You'll soon see what a genius inventor Clemont is." Clemont blushed.

"I don't know about genius." Clemont put in. "But I'm very flattered you think that." Ash looked at him.

"Only because it's true."

"Now if only they don't explode most of the time." Serena said. May looked at her.

"What?" She asked.

"You'll see soon enough." May frowned.

"Now I'm a bit worried."

"I am too." Iris agreed. "I haven't been with the guy for long, but I believe Serena. It's just a matter of time, but in the meantime, what have we got to lose?" The beeping grew louder and louder. This excited Clemont.

"We're getting closer now!" He announced. "Any time now and we'll see those no good bad guys!" He then panicked as smoke started to steam up from the machine. "Oh no!" Serena sighed with a groan. Everyone stopped.

"And here we go." She muttered to herself.

"Something tells me that it's not supposed to do that." May observed.

"Clemont?" Ash asked him. "What's wrong with your machine?"

"Everything okay?" Tobias wanted to know.

"Everything's fine." Clemont assured him, trying to open the back of the machine. "I just need to make some tweaks. Now if I can just open this…" Suddenly, the mobile machine exploded in Clemont's face. Clemont was now covered head to foot in soot. He coughed.

"Another machine made by Clemont is a bust." Serena spoke up. "I saw that one coming from a mile away. Guess some things never change."

"Hey!" Tobias shouted, pointing at some people in uniforms. "It's them! It's Team Nightmare! The bad guys that stole my Pokémon!" Clemont beamed. He ran towards them.

"AHA!" He said, proudly. "So my invention did work just like I knew it would."

"Did you really?" Iris asked out loud. "Or are you just saying that?" Clemont frowned and hung his head.

"Just saying that."

"Come on, guys!" Ash urged his friends. "Let's all help Tobias rescue his Pokémon!" They all agreed and ran with Ash to where Tobias was. Tobias had sent out his Pokémon, Torrterra.

"And why do you think we'd hand over your precious Pokémon back to you?" A Team Nightmare member asked him. "There are lots of us and only one of you!"

"Because he has all of us!" Ash stated as he now stood beside Tobias with all his determined friends, all ready to send out their Pokémon. "And you're wrong about Tobias being the only one. He has all of us, his friends who are ready to help him and be by his side no matter what!" The Nightmare member smirked.

"Doesn't matter anyway!" He said as he and his teammates prepared their Pokeballs, "You are all just a bunch of children. We'll beat you all easily, and then be on our merry way."

"Oh, I won't be sure about that." Misty stated. "You don't know what you are dealing with. Some of us are gym leaders."

"And I was raised by a gym leader!" May added. "As well as my little brother who is not here right now."

"And I so happen to be the Unova Champion!" Iris put in.

"So?" The Nightmare member questioned out loud. "Do you think that scares us? Well, guess what? It doesn't! ! We're Team Nightmare! Nothing scares a Nightmare, am I right, guys?" His friends all agreed. Cilan smirked.

"If you're all so confident in yourselves right now," Cilan began. "Why don't you show it in Pokémon battles?"

"Fine; we will! Prepare, all of you guys to be beaten by Team Nightmare! We all will be your worst nightmares!" Iris rolled her eyes. He and his teammates all sent out their Pokémon. Ash and all of his friends did too. Jessie sent out her Wobbuffet which surprised Ash and friends.

"I'll help your twerps out too." She said and looked at Ash. "A truce for now, ok?" Ash smiled and nodded.

"Okay, Jessie." He said. "That sounds good to me. A truce until you go back to your evil ways." They looked back at Team Nightmare, determined. Then the Pokémon battles began.
