Chapter Eight
Unknown location…
"M.J." was looking at photos of Alan and his family, thinking about his own family, wondering where they even were at the moment, as he hadn't even seen them in years.
'I'm sorry for what Alan had done to us.' The man thought as he looked at an old photo of his younger sons and daughter, who would now be grown up and his ex-wife, who last he had heard had remarried.
He then looked at the picture of his oldest son, whose death ultimately led to the breakup of the family, which he believed that Alan could have prevented, had he not ignored the warnings of others.
"You should have known that building was not going to work Alan, you should have known." M.J. said to himself bitterly, as he planned his next move.
The Craftsman…
An hour later…
Don was reading to his son when Charlie came in, causing the younger Eppes brother to smile at the sweet sight.
'I'll never not be amazed by what Don can do.' Charlie thought to himself before he decided he needed to talk to Don.
"Hey, Don? Can I see you for a few minutes?"
Don looked up with a small knowing smile and told Jack that he would be back in a little bit, who went to play with Lucy.
"What's up Buddy?"
"I was wondering if you could tell me more about the man you and Kim chased, like what he looked like, if either you or Kim remember anything new about the man."
Don thought about it for a moment, as he did give as best a description as he could to the sketch artists but he had been thinking things over on the encounter.
"Other than what we gave the sketch artists, dark hair with some graying and a white guy, which doesn't narrow it down too much, and, while I am not sure there is anything else, I thought I saw a glimpse of his eyes."
"Did you see the color?" Charlie asked, curious
Don thought hard for a couple minutes, as he wasn't sure he even saw the eyes but he thought back to it and couldn't come up with anything.
"Sorry, Chuck, no such luck." Don said apologetically
"That's okay, Donnie, I think I got enough to work with for now but I appreciate the effort." Charlie said
"That's good to know."
"Which reminds me of something, is it possible that next time, both you and Kim avoid going after an intruder? I just don't want to see either of you hurt."
Don smiled, as he knew Charlie wouldn't be happy with him about him chasing the intruder.
"Don't worry Chuck, with the extra agents and police officers here, I wouldn't worry about me or Kim going after any more suspects." Don promised, hoping that would be the case.
