The next day Roy was on the bus when Dana showed up.
"Hi Dana." Said Roy.
"Hey, Cowgirl, you and me got some business to settle." Said Dana.
"What business?" Asked Roy. "I gave you an apology, that makes us even."
"We're a long way from even." Said Dana. "You'll be sorry. I'm gonna be your worst nightmare!"
Suddenly more kids started sitting on the bus and one sat next to Dana. Roy looked.
"What are you staring at?" Asked the student next to Dana.
"Hey Beatrice." Said Roy. She smiled then whacked Dana on the head.
Meanwhile the dog trainer, known as Kahler was packing his dogs and getting ready to leave. Curly noticed this.
"What happened?" He asked.
"They were spooked."
"How'd they get spooked? They're the ones supposed to be doing the spooking." Said Curly
"Only one thing spooks a dog like this." Said Kahler. "Snakes."
"We ain't got no snakes." Said Curly.
"Oh yes you do, they're crawling all over the lot." Kahler said. "You know what happens, when dog gets bit by snake?"
"What happens?" Curly asked.
"Dog dies." He answered.
"But we ain't got no snakes." Curly said.
Then Kahler pointed to something. "What is that?" It was one of the cottonmouths slithering. They backed away in fright.
"Yeah, a snake." Kahler said. "What you think now, you think Kahler is crazy?"
Kahler got in his truck. "We go home boys." He told his dogs. Curly went back to his trailer watching hos step.
Back at the school Garret ran up to Roy.
"Eberhardt you look sick." He told him. "Go home early."
"I feel fine." Said Roy. Garret started whispering. "Look I heard Dana's gonna snatch you after school."
"And do what?" Asked Roy.
"You got until 2:45 to find out." Garret told him.
Roy looked nervous. Soon enough the day had ended.
Later school had just ended and everyone was leaving, everyone except Roy. Mr. Ryan noticed this.
"Roy is everything alright?" He asked.
"Yeah."
"Roy is there something you wanna talk to me about?" Mr. Ryan asked.
"No sir." Roy said before leaving.
He looked at where the bus was and began running, when suddenly Dana grabbed and pulled him into a closet.
He began closing in on Roy but before he could do anything something, or someone pulled Dana out much to both of their surprise.
Roy walked out and was shocked to see Dana tied to a flag pole.
"How did-" But Roy was cut off.
"Hey!" Roy turned and saw Beatrice on her bike.
"You did that?" He asked.
"Hop on I need your help." She said. Roy did as he was told and they left. After the two were gone a few soccer girls came and laughed at Dana, but he scared them away.
Meanwhile Curly got a call from Muckle. "Hello sir, you get my message about the dogs?"
"You're telling me snakes scared off the dogs?" Muckle asked.
"Well sir these was cottonmouths and they can kill a dog pretty quick." Curly told him.
"Can they kill a bulldozer?" Muckle asked rhetorically.
"Probably not."
"Brannit, I am this close to firing up the chopper and coming down there myself, and believe me, you don't want that." Chuck said before hanging up.
"No sir."
Meanwhile Beatrice biked all the way to Roy's house and gave him some instructions. They hid in the bushes.
"Okay listen, Mullet was bitten by a guard dog." Beatrice said.
"What?" Said Roy.
"Yeah, I need you to get some medical supplies from your house."
"Right." Said Roy.
"But don't ask, just take, and don't tell anyone I'm here." She said.
"Okay." He agreed. Roy went in and came back out.
"You get everything I asked for?" Beatrice asked as Roy came back in the bushes.
"Yep. So where is your brother any-" Before Roy could finish his question Beatrice placed her hand on his mouth.
"Shh!" She warned. "We can't let anyone know about him, remember. Roy grabbed her hand and pulled it away from his mouth. "Sorry."
"C'mon we gotta go." Beatrice said before they biked to the boatyard.
"I came by at lunch and he was like this." Beatrice told Roy.
"Dog got me." Said Mullet.
"Your gonna need a doctor. Said Roy. "How'd you get bit."
"I got some friends I take care of over this construction site." Mullet began. "They brought some dogs to get rid of me, so I got some snakes to scare them off. I knew the trainer would take them outta here when he saw that they were cottonmouths."
"Did you paint the car black and the gators in the toilets?" Roy asked.
"If they build the pancake place those owls are toast." Mullet said.
"Yeah I've seen those owls." Said Roy. "Why don't they just move?"
"We tried to tell them, but all we got was a letter from this jerk, Chuck Muckle, he said they had all the permits they needed." Beatrice explained. "They don't care about little birds."
"I've been trying to stop them ever since." Said Mullet. He tried to get up but nearly fell over.
"Let's get him to the hospital." Said Roy as he and Beatrice caught and dragged him out.
