Percy Jackson

Percy was awoken by someone banging on the door. He got up and wiped the sleep away from his eyes, if he had to guess, it was Annabeth coming to wake him up, which he certainly didn't mind. He was starving and looking forward to breakfast.

He walked over to the door and waited for the flap to open. As soon as it did, he peered through and found Annabeth was waiting for him. The odd thing was, he didn't see any food in her hands. She wasn't bringing him breakfast, so that left him wondering what she was there for.

"Percy, we need to talk." She said.

"Alright." Percy stepped aside and waited as the door swung open.

Annabeth walked in and gently shut the door behind her as to not make any noise. Now Percy was really confused, there was no reason for her to be quiet when she was quite literally his guard. She was allowed to enter his cell regardless of what her reasoning was.

"What's going on?" He asked.

Annabeth got closer to him, almost too close. It got to the point that he could feel her breath on his skin. He wondered if she came to his cell for sex, maybe that's why she was being so secretive.

"I'm going to bust you out." She said quietly.

"What?"

"I'm getting you out of here." She repeated, "I lied to Kronos yesterday and told him that you'd make your offer to join in a couple of days. He'll be expecting that so I need to get you out of here before then."

"Why didn't you say a week?" He asked, "He would've given that, right?"

"No, he wouldn't." She shook her head, "He has some girl, his lead interrogator, waiting to have her shot at you. If I told him that you'd be ready to give in within a week, he'd send her in to try to speed it up."

Percy was slightly frustrated that Annabeth had done what she had done but at the same time, he was thankful. At least with Annabeth, he was able to break through to her. If he was faced with some random girl he'd never met, he could very well find himself in some deep trouble.

"Fine, how are we going to get out of here?" He asked, "It's not like I can just walk out of here like I did last time."

"No, you can't." She agreed, "There's a guard swap happening at ten, that's when we'll make our escape. Kronos is swapping the old guards for some newbies, we won't have to worry about them."

"But won't they have that rifle that you shot me with?"

"No, because by the time they get it, we'll be long gone." She said.

Percy didn't get it, she was making it sound like they'd be out of the prison and on their way back to camp within minutes. There was no way it would be that easy, especially after his failed attempt. Kronos couldn't have been stupid enough to just leave the same security flaws in place.

"I don't even know how we're going to do this." He said, "I don't even remember the route I took last time."

"We're not taking that route, Percy. We're taking another route."

"What other route?" He didn't know there was multiple ways out of this hellhole.

"There's a secret passage that leads out of here and to the nearest train station. Kronos had it built in case camp found out about this place and decided to attack it. He knew that the guards here wouldn't be able to hold back a full-blown assault, so he had a escape route planned so he could go back to Mount Othrys." Annabeth explained.

"How do you know all this?" He asked.

"Because I designed it." She said confidently, "Now, do whatever you need to do but be ready by ten because I'm leaving this dump and you better be right behind me."

Percy nodded, watching as she turned and got ready to leave his cell. He hadn't expected her to actually come around to helping him escape, he thought he was going to have to kidnap her and force her to leave.

"Wait." He called, "What if we don't make it?"

Annabeth stopped, "Then we'll both probably be in this cell for the rest of our lives." She opened the door to his cell and left. Just like when she came in, she slowly shut it to make as little noise as possible.

Percy paced around in his cell, this was happening a little bit too fast for his liking. He hadn't even planned what he'd do if he made it back to camp with Annabeth, everyone back at camp would see her as a traitor if they found out where she'd been for the past couple years. He could already see Clarisse trying to gut her.

Then there was the matter of the gods, how would they react? Zeus would be throwing all sorts of temper tantrums, he'd probably try to call for her death and considering what she had done, it wasn't outlandish to assume plenty of Olympians would agree with him.

One thing was for sure, Percy wasn't going to let anything happen to Annabeth. She trusted him enough to escape with him, he wasn't about to go and deliver her to her death by the hands of the campers or the gods. He'd spent too much time looking for her.

Annabeth Chase

Annabeth finished stuffing the last of her clothes into her backpack. She'd packed everything she owned, her knife, her Yankee's cap which could come in handy later, her clothes, and her camp necklace. Everything else was stuff loaned to her by Kronos, and it wasn't like she could pack her whole room in a suitcase.

She walked out of her room without giving it a second glance. The prison guard transfer was happening soon, she didn't have any time to waste. If she messed this up, she'd be dooming Percy for sure.

Annabeth didn't look too out of place in the hallway with her backpack on. Plenty of other guards had their belongings packed into hiking packs and duffle bags slung over their shoulders. Everyone was packing up to leave, though no one knew Annabeth wasn't supposed to be leaving.

She watched as the guards got into a neat single-file line. A couple glanced at her with anxious looks. Word had spread quickly throughout the prison that they were being transferred to a combat zone and that scared a couple of them. If prison guards were being used as soldiers, then the war must've been going badly.

"Hey, Annabeth." She looked over and saw Emily walking towards her. She let out a sigh, this was bound to be trouble.

"What do you want?"

"I didn't see your name on the transfer list. Why are you packed?" She asked.

"I'm holding this stuff for someone." Annabeth lied.

"Oh really?" Emily narrowed her eyes, "Who?"

"None of your business." Annabeth snapped, "Don't you have some prisoners to interrogate?"

"By prisoners, do you mean Percy?" Emily had an evil smile on her face, "Because I'll gladly interrogate him for you."

"Fuck off, you know that isn't what I mean."

Emily laughed at Annabeth's defensive reaction. Annabeth didn't see what was so funny about this. She knew full well what Emily's interrogation method of Percy would be and she wasn't on board with it at all.

"Whatever." Emily sighed after she was done laughing, "I'll have him one way or another, just you wait."

"Fucking bitch." Annabeth muttered as she watched her walk away. That girl was pure evil, she didn't even stop to think what taking advantage of Percy would do to his mental health. All that girl cared about was bragging rights.

How are you any better? A voice asked in her head.

Percy likes me, it's completely different.

Doesn't matter, you still fucked him for your own reasons. You're only supposed to have sex with people you love.

Says who? Besides, I do love Percy.

You sure have a strange way of showing it. First you beat the guy then you fuck him.

Annabeth willed for her brain to shut up, now was not the time for her to be pondering the morality of her behavior over the past few days. She couldn't afford to be distracted over some dumb moral argument that her brain decided to concoct.

The line of guards started to move. Annabeth walked along side them, giving them words of encouragement along the way to make it look like she was actually supposed to be with them. She didn't need someone questioning her, rumors spread quickly and if it got to Kronos that she was plotting her own escape, she could find herself in chains or worse.

"Hey, Chase." One of the lead shift guards called.

"Yeah?" She asked.

"Is it true that we're being sent to New York for the invasion?" He asked.

"Maybe, I don't know. Kronos said that you guys were being transferred wherever you were needed, he didn't say where." She said.

She knew of a pending invasion of New York and subsequently Olympus, but that wasn't supposed to happen until next summer. She wouldn't be surprised if Kronos had started funneling troops in now, he knew that a invasion of New York would be fought to the very end by Camp Half-Blood. He'd need every available half-blood in his army in the city to make sure they could win.

"Well, I hope that's not where we're being sent." The guard grumbled, "I fucking hate New York."

Annabeth smiled and kept walking. She stopped at the front of the line and watched as they passed. Once the last guard passed, she made her way down the hallway of prisoner cells and stopped at Percy's door.

Percy's cell was special in the way that it had a airlock, just to make his escape that much harder. The last time he escaped was due to the fact the idiot guarding him had left the airlock unlocked. That resulted in Percy being able to get much further than he should've.

Annabeth unlocked the airlock before walking in. She knocked on the door of Percy's cell.

"Yeah?" He said from the other side.

"The transfer is happening, we need to go!" She said urgently, "Are you ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be. Let's do it." He said.

Annabeth twisted the lock to his door and opened it. Percy stepped out with a smile on his face. She tried not to reprimand him, the hard part had yet to begin.

"Follow me and make sure no one sees you, got it?" She said firmly.

"Alright, lead the way."

Annabeth sighed and peered through the airlock to make sure no one was waiting for them. She opened it and ran out, Percy hot on her heels. She hugged the wall and moved as quick as she could without running and making a ton of noise. Just because most of the guards weren't in the prison anymore didn't mean there weren't some stragglers or key personnel still around.

They came to an intersection. Annabeth looked both ways before looking over her shoulder, "We're good."

Together, both demigods ran past the intersection. Annabeth's heart was beating far too quickly, she was more nervous than she'd ever been in her whole life. One wrong move and their escape could very well be over.

They were about to cross another intersection when they heard whistling. Annabeth panicked and looked around, there was a small cubby between the walls where the fire extinguisher was. She pushed Percy over to it and stuffed him in it despite his hushed protests. Annabeth turned and slammed into him, her front facing away from him but her body covered him all the same.

The guard, who must've been one of the guards left to help with training, walked past her, nodding his head in acknowledgement. His sword hung by his side while he held a flashlight in the other.

Annabeth felt Percy tap her thigh. She got off of him and turned, "That was close."

Percy struggled to breath, "Next time you slam your ass into me, warn me next time."

Annabeth blushed but she motioned for them to keep going, the exit wasn't far.

When Annabeth came to the door, she took a deep breath, what was about to happen next was going to be terrifying yet exhilarating. She opened the door, revealing a cart big enough to fit at least four people, and a set of rails that led to pure darkness. A small lever held the cart in place, Annabeth knew once the lever was pulled, the cart was going to shoot into the dark.

She was about to explain what they were going to do next to Percy when she saw Emily, standing at the end of the hall in her interrogator uniform, a blue leather jacket and short skirt accompanied by black stockings and heels. She looked like a porn star if Annabeth was being honest.

Emily's eyes were wide as she stared at the duo. Annabeth could see her brain working, however small it was.

"HEY!" She screamed, "ANNABETH IS TRYING TO BREAK PERCY OUT!"

"Fuck, Percy, go!" Annabeth panicked, grabbing the son of Poseidon and throwing him into the cart. She hopped in, accidentally stepping on him, before pushing the lever and sending the cart flying.

The air rushing past the demigods made Annabeth's hair fly all over the place. Percy meanwhile was whining about her stepping on his ribs. Both demigods screamed as the cart sped up. Annabeth wasn't sure how the cart was supposed to stop but she had a feeling if it came to a sudden stop now, they were both either going to die or take flight.

"Fuck you, Annabeth!" Percy yelled, "Fuck you for suggesting something like this! We should've ran out the front door!"

"Shut up, moron!" She screamed, "Just don't let go!"

Percy gripped the side of the cart as hard as possible. Annabeth meanwhile was holding onto him. She really felt like she was about to be lifted out of the cart.

The sound of the cart rolling down the rail was loud, it sounded like a monster roaring in her ears, which really didn't make her feel any better.

Then the cart started to go upwards, causing its speed to drop but only by a little. They were still making very good time. The guards Emily called weren't going to catch her and Percy no matter how fast they ran.

The cart kept going until they saw light at the end of the tunnel. As soon as they hit it, they were greeted by the view of the forests in Montana. The wind lapping at her face and the smell of the trees and grass made her feel…free. She felt like a bird taking flight for the very first time. Finally, she was out of that horrible prison, that place that was just stone and glass and metal.

Percy had calmed down now that they weren't going at breakneck speed anymore. He looked like he was fed up, not that she blamed him, she wasn't able to tell him of the sheer horror of what they were about to experience.

Soon the train station came into view. She heard Percy let out a sigh of relief, she had no doubt that he was beyond happy that this freak show was over. He was finally going home.

"We're free, Percy." She sighed, "We're free."

"Yeah." He agreed, "Sorry for you know, cursing at you."

"I would've done the same thing." She said.

As the two got ready to leave the cart and get on a train back to New York, a certain Titan was raging in his throne room.
