The sun has already set, coloring the sky with darkness as the stars followed, that was the signs that night has arrived. A barren city where untold numbers of structures had collapsed like dominoes, streets populated by multiple old carcasses of vehicles and debris, and without any signs of life as if a devastating battle happened here long ago. However tonight is different, as gunshots and screaming can be heard on one of the ruined streets.
A dark clothed figure hopped over a rust covered car taking cover from the flying bullets over their head, they peeked over the car and saw three of them getting near at him. They took something underneath their jacket, and it was a bunch of crude looking grenades. They primed it and threw the grenades as hard as they can. Seconds later they heard many screaming until a deafening explosion goes off, silencing the other noises around, The figure took the chance to ran away from his cover just as they were successful of hindering their pursuers. They only have a moment to find any hiding place, without being followed.
Meanwhile...
The pursuers manage to take cover on various debris from the explosion. Some of them began to treat their injured allies while others peers to see if there's any threats. After all, they were hunting down a dangerous individual.
One of them sprints towards the explosion site, they were clad in a futuristic armor that is colored primarily in red with black oni mask and chest plate and black joints. On their hands was a grey high-tech rifle with a long barrel blue highlights. They scanned the entire environment to see if there was any signs of their allies since some of them were caught in the explosion.
(Shade): "This is Shade. Everyone, what's your status??"
(Firewall): [krzzt] "Firewall speaking. I'm with Breacher and Smoky. We manage to duck behind a truck just time but Smoky's was seconds late, he lost his right leg from the explosion." [krzzt]
(Cyanide): [krzzt] "This is Cyanide. ~sighs~ Blitzy's down, again. She was directly in front of the explosion but her brain is still intact, thanks to her helmet. However, Condor is in critical condition. His suit is compromised and several shrapnel pierced were lodged in his body. We need medical assistance here now, over." [krzzt]
(Corpsman): [krzzt] "Corpsman here, Serpent is with me, we're fine. The detonation didn't reached is. Make sure Condor's still breathing before we get there, okay??And Firewall dear, can you search Smoky's leg? I might be able to reattach it once I got there." [krzzt]
(Cyanide): [krzzt] "Copy that, Corpsy. I'm sending you my location now, but be quick Blitzy's losing oxygen very fast." [krzzt]
(Firewall): [krzzt] "Roger that ma'am. Firewall out."
(Marauder): [krzzt] "This is Marauder. Any sights of Gray, Captain??? That asshole is dead once I got my eyes on him." [krzzt]
(Shade): "No I didn't, that hobo went away while we're hiding our asses. And everyone, rendezvous at Cyanide's position, now."
Once she informed her squad, Shade makes her way at Cyanide's location to regroup with them and formulate a new plan.
...
Within a ruined building, The figure was leaning on the wall, trying to control his breath. There were many scorched parts of their attire, as an evidence of the earlier skirmish with the Enforcers. They took their hood off, revealing a man in his mid-30s, he has a shoulder length, unkept green hair with a visible white streaks, he has green eyes with the same shade of his hair that shows exhaustion. Dressed in a black turtle-neck vest with long sleeves, covered by a silver chest plate, maroon military pants with black kneepads and black combat boots with grey metal soles fastened with screws. He was an outlaw known as Gray.
He slid down and sat on the floor as soon as the adrenaline rush in his body was over, he felt a slow but annoying painful sensation throughout his entire body. A few fractured ribs on the left side, a shrapnel stuck on his right leg, and a sprained arm. He searched his med pack for anything that can help him to lessen the pain luckily, he found some painkillers and bandages.
(???) "Thank God you guys are still ok"
After treating his injuries, the hooded figure gently rose from his spot and slowly walk away. He searched every room he came across along the hallway to see if there's anything useful, which unfortunately, every items he came across were damaged, or rotten. Gray checked his equipment to see any damages. Unfortunately, only a few survived from the previous battle. One of them was a device that conceals his signature when he was on a journey
He found a flight of stairs at the end of the hallway and took it, hoping he could find a good vantage point at the top of the building. Upon reaching the door of the rooftop, the hooded figure gently opened the door and inspected the rooftop for any signs of danger. Luckily there was none so he went outside leaving the door open just in case, The hooded figure looked around and was greeted by the city in ruins of the current world he is in. Many dilapidated buildings scattered all over the quiet, desolated city as there was no sign of life everywhere when a devastating war happened years ago. The sun set down hours ago and the stars was all over at the night sky. He was mesmerized at the heavenly bodies that reminded him of his home world, where he longed to return and rest forever.
The stars also reminded him a certain inventor he always cherished. She was the only person who treated him with kindness ever since his mother was taken from him by cancer. He stared at the sky for a while when he heard loud voices from the stairs which caught him off guard.
(???): "Check the rooftop!!! There's fresh blood on the stairs so Gray might be there!!!"
(???): "Hurry, he might get away!!!
Gray rolled his eyes, grumbling as he realized that he left some traces unaware. He bolts to the door, closing and locking it to prevent the Enforcers to get out. The outlaw looked around the rooftop for anything that could help him to run away or hide. He spots a couple of rusty pipes a few meters away from him, putting a smile on his face. He grabbed a few and sticks them on the door. Gray's right arm changed into a welding tool, and careful fusing the pipe on the door for extra measure. Once he was done, Gray looked any hiding spots he can slip in, and while he was looking, Gray saw something from his left which he saw a tool shed and within it, was a flickering light. He checked inside of it and he was shocked on his discovery.
(Gray): "Well, I guess the universe really wants to kill me, huh??"
In the shed was a floating web-like crack in the air, growing every second passed, as the middle of it pulsed and then it stopped. He carefully went near it as he knew what it was. Right in front of him was a Rift, an anomaly that appears without any warnings, as one of its capabilities was to generate a gravitational pull depending on its size, causing it to bring random things from the other side.
On the bright side, he knew that there's a chance for him to run away and hide from the Enforcers. Just in case something tries to ambush him from the other side, he prepares two grenades so he can run away quickly. He tries to calm his nerves down, knowing what dangers he might face at the other side of it.
BANG BANG BANG
(Enforcer 1): "BREACHER!!! GET THIS FUCKING DOOR OPEN NOW!!!!"
(Breacher): "Then get. Out. Of THE WAY. YO ASSHOLE!!!!"
He heard that the door was violently shaking as the Enforcers tries to open it. He immediately enters the Rift in order to escape from the clutches of the Enforcers. As his surroundings were twisting, Gray starts praying to whoever gods exists somewhere, that he won't die at his destination.
The door on the rooftop exploded, causing many pieces of it to fly, but it didn't hinder the Enforcers to charge ahead, Shade looked around and commanded her team to split up. She went on the edge of the roof to see any traces of Gray until one of her squad called her.
(???): "Ma'am, over here!! You might wanna see this."
Shade turned her head around and saw Firewall, one of the youngest members, calling her and points on the shed. She nodded and went quickly to follow his direction, Shade kicked the door open, only to see many sparks of electricity on the ground, she scans it and realized what it was, making her to curse and punched the door on her side.
(Shade): "Stupid, motherfucking, son of a BITCH!!!!!"
She was breathing erratically, knowing the fact that Gray manage to avoid them. Shade felt a hand on her shoulder and looked behind her. Cyanide, the team's oldest member and their chemical expert. Cyanide's yellow helmet retracts and revealing a short haired man in his 60's, with a blue eyes with comfort.
(Cyanide): "Captain, you must calm down. We can't make any drastic decisions on your state. So please, clear your mind first."
Upon hearing his words, Shade did what he just said. When she was finished, the captain of Enforcers heard many footsteps coming towards them. First to arrive was Serpent, the team's sniper. Her helmet was already dropped, showing a girl with blue hair with lime colored eyes. Her armor has a sleek, elegant design with dark green color scheme with cerulean highlights.
(Serpent): "No signs of Gray ma'am, also what happened here??"
(Firewall): "We found a leftover energy from a Rift. Captain thinks that geezer went in."
Firewall, ironically was the team's hacker, with a beige and black armor, spoke to her. With a hiss, Firewall's helmet fell, showing a boy with black skin, brown hair with an undercut and hazel eyes. They looked behind them and saw Breacher, their demolition expert. Breacher's armor was bigger than them since it was built for extra defence. With just a look at his two juniors, he knew that they already failed. Shade looked at them and gave them an order.
(Shade): "Gather everyone here. We'll take a rest for now and think for any way where that asshole went."

Upon exiting the Rift, he crashed on something hard, causing him to cough an unhealthy amount of blood. He felt pain on his chest and realized that one of his broken ribs stabs into hi lungs, making it harder to breathe. He struggled to stand up but due to the mixture of pain and exhaustion took over his body. Gray covered his eyes as a light was over his head. He heard many voices and shouting all over the place. The he saw some blurs surrounding him as he felt hands on the left side of his chest, presumably trying to stop the blood from flowing out.
He coughed in pain, spraying blood everywhere. Gray's vision slowly become clearer, he thought if this was his home if it wasn't for the young variant in front of him. But truly caught his attention was the person who has the face of the person who gave him hope. He only got to whisper a name before darkness consumed his vision.
