In the middle of the night she wakes up to a whimper. The room is illuminated enough by monitors that she is able to reach out, and scoot the basinet closer. She rubs the sleep from her eyes as she lifts the newborn from the basinet. Gently she caresses the little one's cheek with her thumb. Her fingers fumble as she locates the remote responsible with raising the head of her bed. She carefully unbuttons the shoulder of her gown.

By the time the whole process is over she is too tired to return her brand new daughter to her basinet. Instead, the little girl nestles into her chest, with her ear pressed against Olivia's beating heart, and dives into dreamland.

Hours later when her eyes open she finds her hands pressed against her chest. Her glances shifts downward, but she doesn't locate her little girl. Panic begins to rise. A familiar voice interrupts her spiral into madness.

"Liv, we're over here. My new best friend was getting antsy because her diaper was soaking." Fin returns the swaddled newborn to her arms.

"Thanks."

"The nurse mentioned that if you ambulate, and have a bowel movement that she feels confident the doctor will let you go home."

"I'm so tired. I think there was someone interrupting my sleep every seven minutes last night."

"Also your phone is over on the counter charging. I noticed that it is on do not disturb. Barba has called several times."

"If you're concerned feel free to call him back, and tell him to…"

"Tiny ears are listening," Fin interrupts her.

Hours later she crawls into the safety of her own bed. Noah sits on the end of the bed eyeing her suspiciously.

"Noah why are you looking at me like that?"

"Mom you just fed Finn, and you don't look like you've slept. I took CPR, and I am fully apprised on how to call for assistance if it is needed. I also took that first aid class at the YMCA. Parker's mom let me practice diaper changing on his brother, and he's much more mobile. Please let me take her into the other room so you can rest for a while." He gesticulates towards the basinet. "She hates being in there. I can hold her while you sleep. I am fully alert. I know I am not allowed to put her down anywhere other than designated baby surfaces."

"After a few days you will not be so eager, so I'm going to allow it."

He scoops Finn out of the basinet, and carries her into the living room. He uses great caution to situate himself in a comfortable position. He slides a cushion under his arm, and she snuggles into the crook of his arm.

"Finn it's my job as your brother to teach you all of the ways to irritate our mom. You're already off to a great start. She pretends that she is a superhero, and can exist without sleep. I am sure you've already realized that is so far from the truth. She hates having her sleep interrupted. Also, this one you'll have to tuck in your back pocket, but she hates the sound of someone chewing carrots. If you really want to scheme do something a little mischievous, and give her a really cute face. I'm so excited you're here. I've been running out of ideas. I know I am a lot older than you, but that means you're always going to have someone to look out for you."

Her eyes pop open, and she stares at his face. He smiles at her.

That evening Olivia saunters out of the bedroom to find Noah sitting on the couch reading Finn a story. Olivia's hair is going at least five different directions from her deep sleep. Her black maternity t-shirt, and pajama bottoms are drenched in sweat. Noah looks up at her.

"Mom I hope that you're not mad, but I ordered pizza. I was starting to get hungry, and I didn't think you would want me cooking."

"Thanks."

He motions towards the baby in the crook of his arm.

"Finn is hungry."

Olivia furrows her brow, "What makes you say that?"

"She was smacking her lips just a second ago. You left baby books all over the apartment for the last several months. Who do you think put them away?"

Olivia grins, "After you read them?"

"I take my job as big brother very seriously."

"I can see that," she gently pats his shoulder. She scoops her baby girl out of his arms.

He motions to the coffee table, "I refilled your water bottle, the glass one with the reinforced bottom."

"Thank you, Noah. What would I do without you?"

"Obviously you would be lost. I'm going to eat this pizza," he motions towards the counter, "while you're feeding her."
