The first thing Sasuke sees is pink. Cherry blossom petals float down from the view out of a nearby window. He feels a dull ache at the back of his head and at the base of his skull. After acknowledging his pain and the view from the window he tries sitting up, dizziness keeps him from moving his neck or arms, failing to prop himself up. Instead he tries to just turn his head, success. Sasuke can tell he is in a medical setting, the room has different shades of gray from the sheets to the walls and it smells positively sanitized.
He tries to speak, his vocal chords failing from what he guesses is disuse.
"Hnnngh."
"Sasuke?" A weary sounding voice says, the sound coming from his left side. He rotates his head and sees a familiar looking girl. Her hair is as pink as the cherry blossoms floating outside. Next he hears a button being pushed frantically and the girl rushing out of the door of the room he occupies.
'Doctor, nurse, someone! He's awake!' Sasuke hears from the hallway.
A nurse followed by a doctor rush in and begin checking the machines he is hooked to and start checking his eyes.
Minutes later as the nurse and doctor help sit him up and try asking him questions. The girl comes back, his mother joining her now both out of breath.
"Sasuke! You're awake!" His mother rushes over to hug him, being stopped by the doctor, as they advise her to give him space.
The doctors finish their check up and assist him in sitting up, untangling some of the cords around him. He coughs a bit and tries to speak.
"W—wha-what happened?" His voice is incredibly raspy from disuse.
His mother looks between the doctor and Sasuke with a confused expression.
"You slipped on some ice while you were at school and landed on the back of your head."
Right. School.
He feels himself straining to remember the event or any school memories. He finally grasps a memory, but it had been Fall, looking outside now he can tell it was Spring.
"When?"
His mother looks again at the doctor with even more concern.
"You've been in a coma for the past three months."
Three months, ninety days, a semester.
"I think that's enough for now." The doctor warns looking at his mother and gesturing for her and the pink haired girl to leave.
"Wa–it." He squeaks out, everyone turns to look at him.
"Who are you?" He points his gaze at the girl.
Her emerald eyes widen and she looks crushed, he can tell she is fighting tears from falling.
"I'm Sakura." The girl answers sweetly, betraying the expression on her face. His mother then ushers them out of the room.

Once the hospital deems him able, he is permitted to leave. According to the doctors he had been in a coma for three months, and had awoken with retrograde amnesia. The most recent memory he is able to pull was from a class early on in the Fall semester. The doctors advised him to take it easy for the foreseeable future, and wait and see if his memory comes back to him but there was always a chance it would not.
Sasuke is driving to his vacant dorm with his mother to collect his things, putting school on hold to move back home for the time being while he heals.
Upon arriving at his dorm he sees all his belongings packed neatly in boxes and bags.
"Did you do this?"
"No, Sakura did."
Sakura. Who was she to him?
Apparently Sakura had been at his bedside nearly every day he was in the coma. His mother had arrived the day after he had been admitted into the hospital seeing Sakura asleep in the chair beside him. They had become quite close and his mother would not tell him anymore about her to not affect his memory or brain functioning negatively. All his mother provided was that they were close friends before his fall.
He had looked through his texts from months prior with the green eyed girl to piece anything together. It had proved fruitless. He had seen something mentioned in one text about a soulmark but that had left him confused and he needed to rest after reading the text thread.
Once the truck was loaded with his things Sasuke and his mother would begin the six hour drive to their hometown. They are stopped at a red light currently. Sasuke looks out the passenger window and sees a coffeehouse, Coffee Dreams.
Stupid name for a coffee shop.
The back of his neck itches randomly and he scratches at it.
The more he looks at the shop the more the back of his neck itches, and he pulls down the passenger mirror and looks at his neck to see a diamond mark.
"Pull over!" He yells sternly.
Sasuke feels like he is about to vomit. His mother turns on the hazard lights of the rented moving truck and moves to the side street close to the coffee-shop.
"Sasuke? Are you alright?" His mother fusses over him.
Sasuke opens the passenger door on the truck and dry heaves. Once he has caught his breath and calmed down he looks back into the coffee shop and sees the girl with emerald eyes and cherry blossom hair through the window.
His feet are moving before his brain catches up. Entering through the door he walks behind the counter to where she is and stands and stares.
Sakura.
"Sasuke? Are you ok?" She tentatively moves closer to look at him better.
"I–I…"
"You?"
He looks up and down the shop and then into her eyes and spots a mark on her arm. She was wearing a modest tank top and an employee apron.
Sakura.
His mother frantically runs into the shop calling out to him, but it sounds muted and far away. He feels himself sweating, sensing the eyes of the occupants of the shop on him.
Memories begin trickling into his consciousness, suddenly flooding his mind.
"Sakura!"
She seems to understand and her eyes well with tears as she lunges herself at him in an embrace.
