The next day, Ronnie Anne is on her phone and sees a picture of Spider-Gal getting knocked out by Sandman and the headline reads. "Spider-Gal gets beached!" Ronnie Anne exclaimed.
"You saw the news?" Sid asked as she entered Ronnie Anne's bedroom through the fire escape.
"Yeah I have and hate that editor. Plus my Tia Frida took that freaking photo!" Ronnie Anne said.
"Ouch." Sid said. "You were beaten up by a sandman. You got the sand out of your suit right?"
"Yes I have and even in parts I don't want to mention." Ronnie Anne said.
Sid cringed at that last statement. "So how are you going to take him down?" Sid asked.
"I don't know. But we can cross off Anakin Skywalker." Ronnie Anne said.
"That and fire is out of the question. It might kill him." Sid said.
"Yeah I don't want to be one of those heroes who kills villains." Ronnie Anne replied as she cringed.
"I understand. Maybe we should try weakening his body with a large amount of water?" Sid suggested.
"That can work. Make him sluggish in the process." Ronnie Anne replied. "I just need to lure that guy somewhere with a lot of water."
"Maybe the city's pool? That could work." Sid said.
"Yeah they can work. Besides it's better than the sewers." Ronnie Anne said. "I doubt I can get the smell out fo my suit."
"Good call." Sid agreed. "So, how do we find an oversized sandcastle?"
"We look for a giant pile of sand that shouldn't be on the streets, of course." Ronnie Anne answered.
"Too big for a sandbox." Sid stated as she rubbed her chin.
"I should contact Lisa to see if she can scan Great Lakes for any living sand." Ronnie Anne replied.
"Good idea, girl." Sid said with a smile.
A few minutes later
"Bad news she's in the hospital." Ronnie Anne said as she hung up the phone. "One of her lab projects exploded."
"Dang it. So we're going in blind?" Sid asked.
"Afraid so Sid." Ronnie Anne said. "I'm gonna have to go on patrol. You mind?"
"Oh sorry." Sid replied as she turned around as Ronnie Anne changed into her hero outfit.
"Alright, I better get searching." Spider-Gal said as she opened a window. "Be right back." Spider-Gal jumps off of the fire escape.
Spider-Gal is swinging across the city looking for Flint Marko. "Where the hell is that guy?" Spider-Gal asked herself.
Spider-Gal lands on top of a building and looks around. She gets a message on her phone and it was from Sid and it reads:
"Did you find find him yet?"
"No not yet Sid." Spider-Gal texted back. Then all of a sudden her spider sense went off and she looked around. She then sees Flint Marko throwing a trash can at a store window.
"Really Sandy?" Flint looks behind him and sees Spider-Gal perching from a lamp post. "Petty vandalism? That's just low even for you."
"My name is not Sandy." Flint said. "It's Flint Marko."
"I'm still gonna call you Sandy." Spider-Gal replied.
Flint forms a giant sand mace and throws it towards Spider-Gal. But she jumps in the air and lands on the ground. "Miss." Spider-Gal glared.
Flint forms a giant sand fist in his right hand and throws it towards Spider-Gal, but she dodged it as Flint hits a fire hydrant, the water sprayed on Flint's arm. Spider-Gal jumps in the air and double kicks Flint's arm breaking it off. Flint screams in pain and began to run away.
"Get back here!" Spider-Gal said as she chased after Flint, he runs down into the subway station, and Spider-Gal enters the station and sees Flint jumping onto the tracks startling everyone. "No worries, everything is under control!" Spider-Gal said as she jumps onto the tracks. "I hope Mr. Chang doesn't run me over." Spider-Gal thought.
Just as soon they get away from the station, right when Flint's right arm grows back. "I only wanted your attention. Now I got it, now I have to kill you." Flint said.
"Like I haven't heard that one before." Spider-Gal replied sarcastically.
"I need the money so I can save my daughter." Flint said.
"Daughter?" Spider-Gal asked, but before she can get an answer she sees a light in front of her, and jumps towards a ceiling right when Flint gets hit by a subway train, reducing him to grains of sand like hitting a bag of flour.
Once the subway train is gone, Spider-Gal jumps down and looked around. "Aw man. Is he dead or is this like a Majin Buu regeneration?" Spider-Gal said right before her spider sense went off and a giant sand hand grabs her and drags her to the left and down to the lower levels. Then slammed her to the ground.
"I have to kill you. He promised me he would give me the money to pay for her medical bills." Flint stated as he throws Spider-Gal to a wall.
"Who hired you? Who wants me dead?" Spider-Gal asked.
"His name is the Kingpin." Flint said as he throws another punch at Spider-Gal, but Spider-Gal jumps out of the way and kicks Sandman right into the side of a subway train grind half of his face. His face reforms from the attack and he doesn't look happy.
"So he hired you to kill me? That's messed up." Spider-Gal said.
"I need to do this to help my daughter." Flint said.
Spider-Gal charged up an electric punch and hits Flint with it. "I hate to say this, but you're going back to jail." Spider-Gal said.
"I'm not going back!" Flint shouted as he threw a giant sand fist towards Spider-Gal, but she dodged the punch as he hits a pipe which bursts and sprays a large stream of water on Flint. He begins to fall apart as he turns into mud and gets washed away into a sewer grate.
"Hang on!" Spider-Gal shoots two web lines at Flint's arms and tried to save him. Spider-Gal tried to pull Flint out but it was not enough and was washed away into a sewer grate. "Oh crap." Spider-Gal gulped in fear.
Meanwhile in the secret club, Ronnie Anne has told Sid about what happened. "YOU KILLED HIM!?" Sid exclaimed.
"I didn't kill him, he hit a pipe and got washed away by water. I tried to save him." Ronnie Anne explained. "What's worse, he was a parent to dying kid."
"Yikes. That's going to hurt your rep." Sid said as she cringed.
"I'm going to hell and I know it. I can't live with that!" Ronnie Anne said as she grabbed Sid and shook her, but then Sid slaps Ronnie Anne across the face. "Thanks I needed that."
"We can live with this." Sid said.
"But that's not all. Some guy called the Kingpin wants me dead." Ronnie Anne replied.
"Sounds like a cheesy Bowling team mascot." Sid replied.
"Tell me about it." Ronnie Anne laughed. But then their photos beeped and they took it out.
"Hey it's a news update, a kid from the Make a wish foundation wants to meet Spider-Gal at Great Lakes Hospital." Sid said.
"Her name is Penny Marko. Oh crud." Ronnie Anne gulped.
"Yikes. That's going to be awkward." Sid stated.
Ronnie Anne sighed and looked at Sid. "Sid, I hate to do this, but I have to either lie or tell her the truth." Ronnie Anne said.
"Being a hero is never easy." Sid said.
"I'll see you in a bit Sid." Ronnie Anne said as she exited the club.
Once Ronnie Anne exited the room, Sid reached into her pocket and took out the tiger emblem. "I thought she would never leave. You are a purfect find." Sid said as she was entranced by the Tiger emblem. "Did I made a cat pun?"
Meanwhile at Great Lakes Hospital, Spider-Gal walked through the halls being escorted by a nurse, she looked on a bulletin board and sees a memorial of Maria Santiago, seeing a picture of Maria nearly made Spider-Gal cry. But she reached a room where inside the room is a 9 year old girl with fair skin and short brown hair, wearing a hospital gown laying down on a bed.
"Hi, Penny look who came to visit you." The nurse said. "It's Spider-Gal."
"Hi, Penny." Spider-Gal greeted awkwardly as she entered the room.
"Hi, Spider-Gal." Penny greeted with a small smile forming on her face.
"Call me if you need anything." The nurse said as she walked away.
"I know you're busy, but I wanted to meet you." Penny said right before he coughed.
"I always have time for meeting kids like you." Spider-Gal said as she walked up to Penny's bedside.
"Listen I know you like to stop bad guys. But there's one person I don't want you to hurt." Penny said. "My daddy. Flint Marko."
Spider-Gal's heart stopped right when she heard that name. "Your dad?" She asked.
"Yeah, he was placed in prison for stealing money to help me with my sickness." Penny said. "He may have stolen some money but he's not a bad man."
"I understand, but the law would say otherwise." Spider-Gal said.
"I know he broke out of prison but he loves me. He wouldn't let anything bad happen to me." Penny said.
Spider-Gal sighed and looked at her hands. "Look about your dad." Spider-Gal began as she looked into Penny's eyes. "If I find him. I won't hurt him. But the cops will say otherwise."
"Thanks Spider-Gal." Penny replied
"You're welcome." Spider-Gal replied.
Meanwhile in an alleyway, a hand crawls out of the manhole and it was Flint Marko, he looked like a mud man, but he begins to dry up and change back to his normal attire and form. "I thought I was dead?" He asked.
